Turned out the vacuum pump was failing the trip before and nobody bothered to fix it or tell me. The standby vacuum system covered up the problem on the ground.
Maintenance looked at it and couldn't figure out what the problem was with the #4 cylinder. Compression check was normal.
I flew the aircraft a month later and had the same issue happen again. Hasn't happened since. The only thing that happened on both of those trips was that I changed the oil and spilled a bit. Was using the "no funnel" technique (using the dipstick). After suspecting the #4 cylinder problem was due to that (even though every mechanic told me it had nothing to do with it), I stopped using this technique and will always use a funnel to make sure I never spill oil again.
