Editing YOUR Photos in Photoshop! | S1E7

was sent in by anders hello benny i attached two photos hope you can use them thanks thank you very much if this isn't a badass photo i don't know what is let's drop this into our software and get started welcome back to photoshop let's drag in our beautiful photo there we go and now we of course need the pen tool once more to mask this guy out let's start right here and go all around the edge and then hopefully that will not take too long but i think it will because just look at this many months later alright so now that that's done let's go and position this guy something like like this and then i want to bring back some detail in the dark area so let's go to filter and choose camera raw filter because in my opinion that works the best right here shadows bring that up and there you go all of that detail is instantly brought back very very nice hit okay and there you go it's a bit weird here but we'll fix that later this one isn't gonna be too extreme but it is gonna be quite interesting i hope first of all i want the background to be fire and not just any fire no fire that's passing by real fast let's set this to screen so i guess we can put this uh right here to start with and then i think first it's a good idea to make some sort of overall lighting map if that makes sense so there's a bit of lighting coming from behind but most of all in front of him right about there you can make it extra bright in this corner then i have this sort of texture which i can put on the background put it on screen there you go nice and subtle but still bit too much i think and then of course we do have to fix these awful edges there you go okay so then this guy is gonna need some color correction because this is just really plain and boring we're gonna need a lot of red and a lot of yellow so let's see what we can do here i mean even just this is already better this seems pretty good i am gonna remove some more of the highlights in his face okay so this is looking interesting the fire is a bit shitty still but uh we'll fix that later first i'm gonna add some more fire i've collected a bunch of fire assets for this one let's put some fire behind his back as if he actually like jumped through it something like this actually looks very cool i also found this overlay which i think is absolutely made for this so let's put it right here set it to screen we may as well do that same thing on the down left corner since it has to be very bright there to spice up the background a little bit more i have this sky which obviously is the wrong color but we can just shift that i feel like these sort of clouds could actually look very nice as just a subtle background effect let's first make sure it's the right color just something like this and then let's bring down the fill so it's just nice and subtle of course we don't need the entire ground area so let's erase that and to add some haziness we can just add some light areas on top of it that actually looks pretty nice we probably want to add some blur to this though yes there you go and now i think i'm gonna make this fire look a bit better that is mainly just some glow again just like this a little bit all over the place makes it look very vivid um and then the highlights on this guy that's pretty much very important um i guess we can just make a new adjustment layer make that very bright and yellow something like this and then we can just use this to paint over the bright areas there you go the thing that makes everything look 100 times better and his neck as well of course this is starting to look pretty solid and then that same thing except even brighter i bet we can make it even brighter there you go oh that's nice a bit on here as well on his arm now this is the stuff i like now the thing is since on this side there's gonna be fire too we have to do the same thing on the other side of his face so basically everything else so let's go ahead and paint this yellow as well oh pretty straightforward actually if you think about it this may be the most fun thing to do but it's also the most time consuming of all things it's always totally worth it though i mean check this out this is freaking epic i like that a lot let's add some more of these overlays to make it even more intense just a little bit down here we can also put some more of this fire back here not in full intensity of course but a bit blurred and a bit further in the background there something like this should be pretty cool this right here also looks badass as heck as if he's like sliding onto the fire let's go and add some more glow to that now we just need to make it look a bit more intense by adding some more sparks and stuff and some of these sparks we can give this nice bokeh effect i'm always a really big fan of that i don't know about you guys but i think this is pretty cool one thing i'm missing and that is the muzzle flash it would be super cool if this gun is actually firing so let's go and find one there let's go put it on top of it let's give it some extra glow there you go and that is actually is that cool what about some debris that's kind of flying around here you know what at this point i don't really know what else to add so i guess we can try adding a camera raw filter and see how that looks for some reason i kind of like the simplicity this one has this is starting to look pretty interesting this is definitely a very explosive submission i kinda like the way that looks it's simple but it's still kind of stylized back to the studio and there you have it i'll make sure to down below let's continue this video and move on to the next photo which was sent in by pc veni can you transform this into a jungle book theme i i'd love to try let's open up photoshop welcome back to photoshop this is the first photo i'm going to use because well it's a jungle book we need some sort of jungle then right here we've got the submission i'm gonna make her a little smaller maybe somewhere here but then also first actually we should probably make this like uh like this this is the portion i want to use and then we're going to use the pen tool again to mask away the background a lot of fun why don't i just do this beforehand there we go absolutely beautiful then the first thing i'm going to turn this into a smart object and then go to blur gallery and make a nice blur probably tilt shift is the best one for this then i'm gonna put this all the way down here and make the background nice and blurred something like this i think beautiful very nice hit okay then i will go and make a brand new solid color there you go i'll set that to screen below the girl and then i'm gonna use my brush to make a very nice sort of haze behind her there you go very soft very subtle just like that that's pretty cool then below that i'm going to make yet another solid color and this one we're going to use to make some sort of nice haze down here instead which is a bit darker a bit less saturated just very subtly something like this seems pretty decent and yet another one to make it even hazier i'm gonna hide this and instead i'm gonna use a mist brush right now to create some sort of nice mist behind her there you go nice and subtle once again like that very nice then this girl is obviously gonna need some color correction so let's go and choose levels for this first i guess we can just make her a little bit darker but the most important thing is color balance as you can see this changes the absolute most we're gonna need some red and yellow most of all just like so it seems pretty good and now i'm curious what happens if we just copy this one over here it's a bit much though it's better so um that seems pretty good now obviously the light is coming from behind her and there's basically zero light on her so let's go and change that first of all i'm gonna make an exposure layer right here which i'm gonna set to luminosity i'm gonna paint a little bit on her hair this is not the highlight highlight but just the highlight i am making so much sense right now like that seems pretty good and then i want the same thing but way brighter so we can make the actual rim light so now with this bright one i'm gonna go all around it once more except this is obviously gonna be only the edge so now the color is completely incorrect but we'll fix it later first i want to make some more highlights on the arms and body right about here gotta make sure it's not too bright and the arms of course this right here seems pretty decent then let's go and add some color to it by using you and saturation i guess we can just copy the mask from before and then something like this maybe see this nice orange light it is now this actually looks pretty cool already let's add a super subtle glow around these bright edges as if the light is bouncing off of it then i think it seems quite obvious i'm going to add the snake i think car was his name her name his name i don't even know i think something like this isn't too bad i'm gonna use a bit of warp for this we can also use some puppet warp to make this one look a little different and then we can use that as some sort of extra part of the snake maybe even another time a little smaller back here and that one will be blur of course some color balance there you go it's really just the exact same thing i guess is a copy the color layer copy the mask there you go that's maybe a bit much though isn't it i mean i guess it does look pretty good then for the other parts it's literally the same thing however like i said earlier these have to be blurred and then after that we can add the same highlights again first this one is going to be quite clear still and then it goes further back here and then it it becomes blurred we can also add that same sort of glow here there is one thing i'm seriously missing though there you go ultra realistic and some super super super quick highlights then also i want to add some particles in the sky because it's the jungle and we all know that the jungle has a lot of particles flying tiny little bugs and whatnot so let's just put a little bit of that in the sky let's make that a nice color like that and then here and there we can paint some of this stuff not too much but a little i am very curious to see what happens when we add a camera raw filter so let's go ahead and do that i actually really like this one so far some color grading always makes it look so much better i feel like this really does have the jungle book vibe i really like this one let's get back to the studio quite simple this one but i kind of like the way it looks i'll send this back to you when i get the chance then the final photo for today was sent in by the amh should definitely check them out um these are fun photos so let's not waste any more time so here we are back again in photoshop let's drop in our first photo which is the submitted one there you go and then like always we're gonna have to mask these guys out and this is gonna be a lot of work like a lot of work because uh it's four of them so i'll see you back in three two one there you go now i think they're a bit too close to each other so i'm gonna cut this one off and put him a bit further away same goes for this guy something like that and then for the main background we're using this gonna make that a lot bigger there you go then first of all let's add a tilt shift to the background i want a nice blurred sort of effect and then i'm gonna add a whole lot of haze i want the background to be barely visible this one is really gonna focus on them and what they are going to do let's make it a bit darker on top here there you go and a little bit of mist in front of them as well very subtly as you can see just like so then let's try and sort of blend these guys together with this photo first they'll have to be a bit darker of course something like this isn't too bad then i'm gonna add some really interesting stuff to this but before doing that we probably first want to add some shadows to them something like that then my idea is to give them all some sort of not really super powers but some sort of cool effects like lightning and fire and whatever so for the first one i have this lightning photo which i'm just gonna kind of put on top of him right here it's gonna go behind his leg and it comes back around here the last little stuff back here there you go something like this and then i think that would look pretty cool if we add some glow let's make a new blue solid color and then we just gotta go and paint over these to make them pop just a little bit more yes yes that is looking pretty sick right there then we're also gonna need some highlights but first i'm gonna make some light on the ground let's go and paint a nice lighter area just a little bit around the lightning this light can be made a bit more blue like you can see here that is pretty pretty nice i actually like that a lot then we also want some brighter areas on this guy himself i think that will make it look even better to finish that up let's make this entire site just a bit bluish on the background yeah that's pretty badass then next for the big guy we have fire absolutely fabulous let's put this one right here maybe and a little more george's torso then it is the exact same story here as well i'm gonna add a new solid color which is a bit orange red ish set it to linear dutch add and then we can paint some beautiful glow that's a bit much some beautiful glow all over the very bright fire areas on the ground we want the same light effect there you go very nice and bright this time however it obviously needs to be red instead of blue so this is the type of stuff i'm gonna have to do to these other two guys as well this i'm going to do as i speed at it because there's quite a lot to do still and i feel like i just want to bring this to its max so
