DON'T BUY DeWALT TOOLS NEWEST IMPACT DRIVER AND HERE'S WHY...

what's up everybody my name is vince welcome to the channel today we got an exciting video for you why is it so exciting because we're going to be going over the waltz newest impact offering it's their compact atomic impact drop i mean driver i will say this right out the gate there's a glaring flaw with this tool glaring we're gonna get into it right after this [Music] so a few days back i started getting some messages from friends saying vince the walt has a new impact driver you're going to want to take a look at it and the reason they probably wanted me to take a look at it is because of this video here where we went over the walt's previous top offering the wall 887 the problems the issues we've had with this so some of those people were wondering if we felt that this new impact would have some issues as well did the world actually come up with an answer to the problems with the 887. they wanted us to take a close look at it we got it in we put this through what's called a tool test raw i will say this it didn't exhibit the glaring issue that the 887 has to find out what i'm talking about go to this video here okay we put it through a tool test you could check out the whole thing there but when we got this in and we started to run it we realized a glaring issue and after we've ran it in the tool tests we had people leaving comments on the tool test video the comments were yeah it did so poorly in the test because it's not made to perform as an 18 volt tool this is a sub compact tool vents this is made to compete with 12 volt pools that's why it's part of the atomic line of tools because it's so small and it weighs less that's why it has less torque than the 887 okay that's why it's not as powerful as the 787 now here's the deal i want you to take a look at these stats real quick okay we have the dcf-887d tool here on the left we have the dcf-809b it says our compact brushless impact driver is only 5.1 inches front to back and features a high performance brushless motor that delivers 1700 inch pounds of torque its three leds provide optimum illumination and dark spaces as you work the handle is ergonomically designed for increased comfort balance and easier tool control it also has a removable belt clip hook it's backed by a three-year limited warranty so you can buy with confidence battery and charger sold separately so it does say it's their compact tool it doesn't say subcompact but let's take a look at features and specs impacts per minute you can see the difference from left to right here 887s at 3600 impacts okay the 809 is at 2 800. that's 800 less impacts so the website is incorrect the tool states 3 200 impacts per minute and 2 800 rpms so make note of that the difference in impact per minute is not as great it's 400 impacts less per minute but it is 450 less max rpm between the two tools crazy so yes the 887 was their top of the line offering or is their top of the line offering the only impact driver that's better than this okay is the 888 which mechanically they're the same tool the 888 only offers tool connect to the 887 this is a three speed impact driver the atomic is a single speed impact driver yes this doesn't have the power of the 887 hence the size difference right well as you can see here the atomic or the 809 comes in at 5.133 inches compared to the 887s 5.326 inches minimally longer the 887 is 2.415 inches wide here at its widest point at these pads the 809 or the atomic impact driver at the pads the atomic is 2.429 inches wide okay so it's marginally shorter than the 887 but it's wider than the 887 the height of the atomic is 9.81 inches if we measure the 887 the 87 is 9.5455 inches if we put the dewalt 887 on the scale you'll find that it weighs two pounds one ounce when we put the waltz dcf-809 the atomic subcompact impact driver its newest offering on the same scale you'll find that it's two pounds 2.6 ounces heavier than the 887 if the atomic is made to compete with 12 volt pools why is it taller wider and heavier than the 18 volt offerings from the wall if it's going to make less power than it's 18 volt brother it doesn't make sense to me if this is competing as a sub-compact why is it so big i'm having a hard time with rationalizing that this is to compete with a 12-volt tool i it doesn't make sense to me i'm going to go back to what i've said previously the 887 has had problems with its electronics and this tool not being reliable this tool is way underpowered way underpowered for its size okay although it didn't self-destruct under testing and the cost the cost is just for what you're getting i don't see why this tool costs as much as it does i'm going to stick with what we've been saying here on the channel for a while now maybe you're not able to pick this up tool only you might only be able to pick this up in a combo kit this is dewalt dcf787 this is their best mix of power and reliability at the right price i i don't know why they've tried to re-engineer this for for my money if i if i was on the dewalt platform solely and i needed to buy an impact driver from dewalt this would be the one i'd be looking for if you're going to re-engineer a tool to be sub-compact and and the only dimension that got smaller was the length of the tool and we've seen other tool brands shorten their length and make them a little bit wider here but increase the power dramatically why is this down on power i just i'm not understanding where this fits in in the subcompact segment if it's so large and where it fits in on the 18 volt segment if
