- So check it out, I got the new Mavic Mini Two and I've been dying to fly this thing but it's been really windy. Like check out those palm trees back there. I probably shouldn't fly but I don't know, I kinda wanna. (chuckles) Just a quick one I'm not tryna get crazy. I mean it's hovering, I think if I get any higher the wind gets stronger up there. Let's switch to the camera on the drone over there and here we are. It's definitely battling that wind right there but it's not looking too bad. I'm also filming in 4K 24 but so far so good even with these really strong winds. Check that out, say hi to Kerry. - Hi. - It's nice and quiet, huh? Good first flight, let's get back in the van. It's pretty intense out there. Alright so first impressions it flew really good and see how there's these orange tips, I wasn't sure what that was for but when I was flying it, it makes it so much easier to see the tips of the propellers. I think that gonna make it a lot easier to be mindful of where your propellers actually are, sometimes you'll be flying, you're like, I think could get closer and then you don't realize how far out your propellers extend out to. So, nice little touch there. Alright, so let's go ahead and take a quick look at this app here. We have 4K 24, which is what I was just filming at. We also have 25 and 30 frames per second which is cool. The previous Mavic Mini was at 2.7K so love that we have that extra resolution. And then we go down to 1080p, we have access to a few more. We have 48, 50 and 60. So we're still obviously not gonna get the same quality out of the bigger Mavic Air and the Mavic Two Pro but let's see what else we have. We have manual control here, so that is nice. We have our ISO control, our shutter, ISO 100, shutter speed is about 1000 so might be a good idea to get some ND filters for this. Let me go ahead and switch that over to imperial, I live in the US. Oh interesting, under gimbal mode, there's FPV mode. I kinda wanna try that out real quick. Apparently this is gonna make it so the gimbal follows the movement of the aircraft. Let me go ahead fix that shutter speed, let's go 1/640 and let's see what this FPV mode looks like. Oh yeah that's kinda whacky. I think I'm gonna pass on going over the edge there sometimes right when you get over the lip of one of those you get a huge gust of wind so let's play it kinda safe here but I'm actually surprised I'm not even really seeing any high wind warnings or anything like that. Okay this FPV mode, not liking it right now. Let's go ahead and put the gimbal mode back to follow mode. There you go that's better here. It feels nice and smooth and on the controller here we have three options. We have normal, cine and sport. So cine is just gonna dampen my moves here so it's nice and smooth. Sport's gonna be a little bit more aggressive yeah, feeling nice and quick. Alright so there's some pretty strong winds coming from that direction. So if I just go full throttle ahead, I'm getting about 10, 11 15 miles per hour. Maybe even a little bit more, 17. Okay so, it's actually got some power. Okay if I go with a tailwind, oh yeah I'm picking up the pace, I'm going up to 23. I feel like this has a lot more power than the previous Mavic Mini. When I took the Mini over to Hawaai I remember I was getting tossed all over the place with the wind there. This is fighting against it pretty dang good. I was gonna take a little peek over the edge. Oh man, okay. I literally can't go forward, the wind there must so strong. I'm full stick forward right now and it just stopped so that must literally be the limit of how much wind it can handle. That's so funny literally right as I get to the edge right there the wind gets so strong that I can't stay but as soon as I kinda flatten out a little bit I'm good. We're just cruising now. Even if I do manage to get a little bit further all it's gonna do is just push me back to here. But first impressions it feels really nice and it looks pretty good too. The colors seem to be pretty solid. Honestly I'm liking what I'm seeing. Yesterday's wind was crazy. All the palm tree branches were falling off and everything but today it is much nicer. We got it up in the air man, it is quiet. Right now I have it just about 100 feet away and I can barely hear it. This is amazing. Like that's one of the things I don't like about flying drones too much, is it draws so much attention. Like everyone around you can hear it but this is much better and I swear it flies better than the original Mavic Mini. It feels like I have a little bit more power, a little more authority. And I'm noticing that the signal is really good. That was another thing I noticed about the Mavic Mini was that the signal may not have been the best. But this is definitely good. See how close that is and it's not that crazy loud. You wanna say hi Sam. - Hello. - I wanna feel (indistinct) by this. (chuckles) - Anything for the vlog. - It actually handles really nice. I'm really liking the way it feels it flies very comfortably. Now I love the original Mavic Mini but if I had three complaints about it, it would be one, it didn't feel like you had enough power all the time. Also, the image transmission wasn't nearly as good as its bigger brothers but this is supposed to have a 10 kilometer range so I'm still getting a crystal clear image all the way back here. The feed isn't breaking up at all and you may think, it doesn't really matter too much because I don't ever fly 10 kilometers out but if you're kind of in a busy place like this where there's a lot of signals up in the air, then sometimes it breaks apart alot sooner than the max distance. So having a strong image transmission is a really big deal. You know, on the old Mavic Mini, I feel like by this time I would be getting a little bit of choppiness, a little bit of blockiness but here, it's very clear. I'm getting a really clean signal. The third final thing are the sensors. You do have to be careful, you don't have any sensors on the front or back just one here on the bottom so it's avoiding my hand. At the step up from the Mavic Mini Two is the Mavic Air Two. You can actually see there's a pretty big difference in size as well as price. The Air Two definitely has some features in there that are real nice. Let me get a few shots here. (drone buzzing) It's so much noisier, right? I'm definitely getting more power on the Mavic Air so performance wise, Mavic Air is definitely gonna still fly a whole lot better but yeah, you hear how much more noise it's making? Like I feel bad flying it here cause there's all these people living here and they hear this big old drone passing by. But atleast with the Mavic Mini you're not gonna be bugging everybody you pass by. But when it comes to image quality are you guys noticing any sort of difference? They're both looking pretty good to me. (drone buzzing) Is that an official way to turn off the drone by the way? I know a lot of people do it. You just flip it upside down and it turns off. I don't know if you're supposed to do that. Maybe. So this one is also one of the bigger controllers Just like the one we saw in the Air Two and this is the one that was from the previous Mini so you are gonna have to carry on slightly bigger controller but if the bigger controller is what it's gonna take to get that better range, I am all for it. - Is it weird for us three grown ass men to just get one of these and have a good day? - Oh dude, we're gonna be so cool. (laughing loudly) - You really got it? I thought you were kidding. - No, we got it. - This is the definition of baller, huh? Premium rim set, oh yeah. (bell chimes) - Oh wow. - How much power does this thing have? - One. (laughs loudly) - Pedal. - Oh shit. - Something's fell off. - Alright, let's go one two, one two. - I'm actually kinda tired. - Already? - I went 100% - How are you tired? - It's so much fun looking down on everybody else on their bicycles. - Who needs those yachts when you have this? - Yeah, who does that? - Don't talk to me right now. (chuckles) - This is like a Rolls Rhoyce, you know? It's not about the speed, it's about how comfortable it is to get there, you know what I mean? - Alright let's pull over and try these drones out. - What do we have here Sam? - We have the first Mavic Mini and the new and improved Mavic Mini Two. You may think it's the same looking drone, it's the same thing, no. There's definitely a weight difference, this one's a lot heavier. - I think they're the same weight. - No this is a little bit heavier. - Not they're both 249 grams. - I think this one is half a gram heavier. - Anyways this is some out. One thing I am noticing is that there isn't an option to switch up color profiles. On the Mavic Mini we have the option to go from normal to the d-cinelike or one of those flatter picture profiles. But here I don't see an option to shoot log so it kinda stuck in this normal mode but luckily this normal mode looks pretty good already. So not a big deal there. Now one thing that is nice is that this controller can also charge your phone which is a good thing cause my battery was kinda running low on my phone and also this is the iphone 12 pro max which is one of the biggest iphones today and it fits in this controller okay. Anything bigger than this, you might start having issues because this literally fits just right. Sam's got the original Mavic Mini, I got the awesome- - Wait, why yours the awesome one? - Yours is the original one. That so last month. So we're gonna get them both off in the air and see what kind of shots we can get. You boys ready to have a jolly good time? - Let's get at them. - Hit it! (upbeat music) How'd it feel? - It felt pretty smooth, I felt like it wasn't going as fast as I wanted it to go. - The picture is pretty decent, I bet you it's actually gonna look pretty good even compared to the new Mini Two. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same camera just with a better maybe processor behind it so that it can process that 4K at 100 mbs per second by the way, that's a big deal. - This is my first time actually riding and flying a drone at the same time, it's a little confusing. - It is kinda confusing huh? Cause sometimes like this thing will shake, you'll be like whoa, is that me or the drone, you know? It takes a second to recognize which is what. So you ready to try the Mini Two? - Let's do it. - Alright, here we go. (upbeat music) Sam, what did you do? - I don't know. (chuckles) - You crushed into this pole. - Damn, I didn't even see it. - Bad Sam, bad. You know, it's not a proper potato jet video until we crash one of these drones and it survived. A few of these plastic panels kinda popped off but we snapped everything back in. As long as this gimbal is working, that's usually the part to go. Dang it Sam, you know I'm supposed to be the one to crash it not you. - But I really wanted to crash something today. (drone buzzing) Easy peasy. - DJI told me that there are stronger motors in here and also, something with a battery. I think it has a little bit more voltage so it has a little more oomph when you need it. So I wanna see how much faster it can go so we're both gonna hop into sport mode and we're gonna race to the ocean. Sam just smoked me, I don't even have a chance. Also the Mavic Mini is also getting a bit choppy. And we'll do the same thing but like next to each other. Three, two, one full stick ahead. - Oh my god! Yours is so much faster, oh dude! Yeah that is way faster, are you kidding? Keep an eye on your mouse prowler right there. - 20, 21, 22. - Oh yeah, I'm going at like 16 miles per hour and I lost signal. I mean this alone should be enough of a reason to go with that cause you get OcuSync out of that, this I think is like enhanced wifi. You know, sometimes it works really well but places like these, there's a lot of interference in the air I mean there's big whole hotel right there and whatever interferes with the signal so even just tryna fly out to there, line of sight, I could lose signal. Did you lose any signal at all? Yeah it was like super clean, right? - The OcuSync is awesome. - Anyways I think we should go back, I think it's time to return our baller mobile. Alright guys, pedal to the metal. Turns out we were supposed to return this thing three minutes ago so we gotta get going. (dramatic music) We're going 100%, one, two. What are some things that motivational fitness people say? - Believe in yourself, if you believe you will achieve. (laughs) - Believe in yourself and maybe you can do it. - I still think that needs to be assurance. - Famous sayings by Dowen. - Sam we can't stop so we have to put it in front of us and we'll catch it on the way through. - It's like a slow speed action movie. - If you can bring it on this side, get as close as you can without hitting it. Little low to the right, oh no! Sam you've been training your whole life for this. (indistinct) Little bit to the left just a little bit. Just a little bit to the left, yes! Oh yeah. (chuckles) - That's how we do it in the LBC. (chuckling) - Good job, you did good. - That's easier to fly. - Yeah. - If I just press it one way it's struggling it just goes left, right, up, down, wherever you wanna go. - Yeah, especially coming back this way, I felt a lot of resistance because we're going into the headwind. We still have to get back in time so he doesn't charge us extra. Guys dig deep into what makes you angry. What makes you angry Sam? - Squirrels. - What makes you angry? - Green beans. - Yeah they're terrible. And I'll use the cast that makes me angry. Just think about the late penalty fee we're gonna pay. We may have to pay like an extra five dollars if we don't get it back in time. (dramatic music) It's kinda disheartening that we're all putting our maximum effort but people are still jogging past us like- (laughs loudly) this is actually good cardio, huh? Should we do this every Saturday fellows? - I want mimosas too. - Oh my God yeah. - Good job though, you did good. We made it back. Good job boys. - They don't call us the tater-tots for nothing. - Alright so we've kinda lost the light so let's take a look at some split screen footage comparing the two cameras. Mavic Mini on the left, Mavic Mini Two on the right. Now compared to the original Mavic Mini, it looks pretty comparable, no surprise there but what is kind of surprising is that compared to the Mavic Air Two it also looks really close to that. This is gonna be our last shot of the day because we are losing the light but let me go ahead and hop into quick shot mode and let's see. We could do a couple of effects here. I say we do maybe droney, there's other ones like you, know, rocket, circle, helix, those are all really cool but the tricky part is that we have a lot of trees around us and remember this one doesn't have any sensors on the sides or front or back of it as Sam has reminded us earlier today. - Alright can you just stop you're making me feel bad. - All we're gonna do is draw a little box around me and I just hit start and it should start doing this quickshot here. Oh it started. Quickly, do something cool Sam. (humming a tune) - Yeah, wow. All of a sudden we turned into power rangers for some reason. (chuckles) Ideally we wanna fire up that way so we get that beautiful sunset in the background, it's still going. Okay, it's coming back. I got worried there for a second, I'm like how far out is that gonna go? But yeah overall, I am really impressed with this drone especially when you consider that it's 450 bucks. That's like not much more than an action camera. So the fact that you could get a good 4K camera on a really solid flying drone that's pretty awesome. That's a hard value to beat, you know. Because of how small and lightweight and how long you can fly this thing for, I don't even think this is just a beginner's drone. You know I have this, the Air and the Pro and I like all three for different reasons but I think my go to is gonna be this. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the other drones of course but it's so small, it flies for a long time. The picture quality is quite solid out of it, it's very easy. Personally I don't really use active track too much so if you do want those features defo you'll look at the bigger drones. But overall it's a pretty solid drone. Let's go look at some specs real quick. How perfect is it that we have this awning that has a light on it, so we have instant lighting. - (indistinct) oaky it's over. I made it go go out with my mind. - No you didn't. - Yes I did. - You pushed a button. - No there's no button (indistinct). - Alright so let's go ahead and look at the technical specs we have the Mini on the left, the Mini Two in the Middle and the Air Two on the right. And first of all price wise, this is extra 50 bucks, you're getting way better flight performance. It doesn't really say that on here but I think that's probably the biggest reason why I would say definitely get the Mini Two. And also the video transmission, we have that 10 kilometer HD video transmission vs the four kilometer in the Mini but like I said, if you're in a busy place it's gonna cut off much sooner than that. The new camera's also good, you know we get 4K istead of 2.7K. But aside from that extra resolution, I think what really matters is that extra bit rate. Max video bit rate, right here. 40 was the previous one, now we have 100 so we're more than doubling the amount of data that we can capture so it's definitely much cleaner and you can really see those details being lost in the Mavic Mini, where the Mavic Mini too retains it especially if you look at those wide shots you look at details in the sun that is probably the biggest deal a camera's perspective. Of course the Mavic Air is gonna give you a little bit more bit rate at 120. Let's take a peek at the video resolutions so you know, we maxed out at 2.7K on the Mini, now we have 4K so love that upgrade. If we go down to HD, we can go up to 60 frames per second on the original same here so no real slow-mo so no upgrade but if want that slow-mo you probably wanna look at the Mavic Air Two. We got that 240 frames per second in HDR so that is super impressive. The sensor itself looks pretty similar 1/2.3 CMOS 112 megapixels. You know Mavic Air Two has a half inch CMOS sensor so you're definitely gonna get a step up in image quality but the Mavic Pro has a one inch sensor, a full inch so that's probably the best camera but again we're talking about multiplying the price every time you step up, right? Cause the Mavic Air Two still a solid drone but you know, it's 800 bucks so again, it's double the price of the Mavic Mini almost double the price of the Mini Two. Max flight time is technically 31 minutes so one extra minute, I mean hey, I'll take every minute I can get and max speed, 57.6 kilometers per hour in sport mode versus the 46, now that may not sound like much but it really makes a big difference, especially when there's wind. I feel so much more confident because of the stronger motors and also the better reception. Look at the video transmission system, OcuSynch 2.0 just like the Mavic Air Two those are solid. This enhanced wifi stuff, I'm not a huge fan. Now looking at the battery, you know, the watt hours are very similar but that voltage, we got 7.7 volts. That probably also plays a pretty big role in terms of how much performance you're gonna get out of it. Yeah part of the fly mode kit is this battery charger that has three battery bays right here. I really like this over the Mini because of that USB-C port right there instead of the microUSB. I just want everything to hurry and become USB-C now. You don't have to think about which direction you're gonna plug it in and so you never so, love this. Alright so I just posted a thing on Instagram asking you guys to ask me questions about the Mavic Mini Two. I just posted it so no questions yet but Sam, can you entertain them while I wait for comments to come in? - Okay, knock knock! Who's there? I didn't really think of anything. (laughs loudly) - You're fired Sam, go home. Oh sweet, alright, we got some questions now. Let's start up at the top, "Are you noticing any of the jitters in your footage?" I haven't yet but also I haven't really looked at the footage on a larger computer so you guys would know if there's jitter in the footage more than I would even. "Can you give it away to me?" No sponsors this time around, so no giveaways. Maybe soon, we gave away one of these on the previous video. - Yeah we did. - Yeah. "Can it bring you food and lefty IPA?" should we test if it can pick up a lefty IPA? - I don't think it's gonna be able to do that. The IPA is bigger than the drone. - Sam, you don't know until you try. Actually, absolutely not. This is like five times heavier than the drone. "Would you recommend this to anyone that is willing to switch to DJI? Yeah. Wait, out of curiosity though, what kind of drone are you flying? "Side question, did you hear news about Sony's drone?" Wait what? Sony's putting out a drone? "Does it have d-log or d-cinelike?" No, I haven't found that option. "Does it have active track?" No and it's probably actually a good thing it doesn't because it doesn't have sensors on the front, back or the sides so with active track you'd probably want atleast a few sensors, you know? "Is it the best drone right now?" in that price range, I say absolutely. What else is 450 bucks and flies this good and gives a camera that good? Honestly even if it didn't fly, it'd be a pretty solid camera even for that price, you know? "I bet you will not read this." You're right. "Is it worth buying from the Mavic Mini one?" I think that depends. I mean there's definitely good upgrades to it but if you already have the original Mavic Mini I think the question is, are you sensing these issues with the drone not enough power or performance or are you often flying it out too far to where you're losing reception with it? 'Cause it's really uncomfortable when that happens, you know? So if you are sensing these issues then I'd say absolutely that upgrade's worth it. But if you're not having these issues with the original Mavic Mini then I say stick with that until you're ready to upgrade and maybe you could upgrade to the Air Two. I think that's it for this video thanks for tuning in and see you guys in the next one. - Okay you can turn that off. (upbeat music)
