Caution Alert! I bought my first ever drone! - DJI Mini 2

hey guys what's going on so um i've been out and i've bought myself a dji mini 2 drone i think at the moment that's probably the best value drone you can get for the money for a 4k video whiteness and just all around good value but we're going to put that to the test today there's not going to be any in-depth review on hours of technical spec of unboxing excellent who really wants to see you undo in a cardboard box really so i'm just literally going to cut straight to the somewhere like a local park and uh give you some decent footage and feedback on what this can do and you can see for yourself how far it can go on one battery what you get in the box is it good value for money and just my general overview of how good i think it is from a complete novice i've got no prior experience at all of flying drones so um let's get to it ah one last thing before we go i just want to point out one thing which i think is quite important this is the size of the drone i mean look how small that is you've got a little strap here that you release and the arms fold out but that is tiny that is absolutely tiny 249 grams so it goes within most laws i imagine of being out of flyer drones the only downside is the controller is bigger than the actual drone itself which is a bit crazy if you see the comparison in size but it's still a pretty pretty transportable um product and it still keeps the size of the drone down so that's the main thing so let's get to it guys let's get to the park all right guys so a complete fader the other day i took this out for the first time it was super windy we were super high up again today but i had no audio i did don't know what happened with a mic but my wireless mic wasn't on i ended up with a bunch of footage with just complete silence so i've got andy with me today we've been over here i have it we've been over here filming these scooters and um just thought we'd uh slip this in at the end of the day we've had three batteries we've we've killed two of them and we're so far too yeah done two of them without andy's expert flying we're going to put me behind the wheel now and i'm just going to send it towards we're going to take it off mainland england we're going to go from hadley essex over towards canby island let's see if we can actually make it to canberry island and back all right we will look at that let's go let's do it all right one-handed landing one-handed take-off take-off i've never done this before so hold it like that yeah yeah i've never done it like this actually i'll get my thumb all the way to there there you go well i'm gonna put it in sport mode yeah yeah just charge straight ahead oh no that's not forwards is it there's my boy well i'm going down instead of up oh look at that beautiful countryside it's really nice over there isn't it it's getting dark though now it is getting dark right we started off on [Music] pretty much 93 94 battery look at the bike track from there yeah it looks so cold doesn't it i'm just going to let it drift over that it's a nice bit of footage yeah no wind no wind signal problems yeah no you want to get rid of that signal bar i don't know what that means shouldn't be i'm high enough to clear them trees and everything yeah no problem with those at all um so we just send it until we either run out of signal or we get to what 60 percent yeah see where yeah because i want to get back with a decent margin but yeah you might be coming back against wind i've learned that as well that's right it uses a hell of a lot look at that beautiful bit of c2c train footage lovely job you could get a bit of height if your signal drops a little bit i'm going to am i going to get more wind now that i'm going across like you're ready to open waters you may find that but it's actually moving quite well seven meters a second what is that is that how many meters away i am 650 meters yeah wait is that 1600 meters to a mile i think um i don't know but i know there's one thousand meters to a kilometer joining me climbers are also a mile i've got no idea we lost then i'm pretty sure it's 1600 meters so where's that feet you're gonna be able to google this i'll tell you what this this i'm thinking if it's 1600 that's that's nearly half a mile away already it isn't it but we've dropped ten percent in battery going flat out that's not enough i think we dropped drifting a little bit might be i'm kind of tempted to stop and have a look around but i also want to see how far it it goes yeah i think you're going to be surprised this hockey sync 2.0 is pretty impressive really i've got a good signal wouldn't i i know it has said that as it goes red it's going orange it's going orange now and it's come back up as i say like you could just literally increase the little number that little number there says 21 i think 21 satellites is that that's the gps yeah that's how many satellites it's connected to i think there's a little number yeah but that's only that's only for um like positioning what does that mean what's that aircraft what does it say in something i don't know attitude zone yeah you don't want to be higher than 60 meters but you're not you're not you're in you're eight eight meters height i think that's pretty cool isn't it the camera's so good the face the quality of the footage is awesome i'm gonna slowly or pan up try to no that's down what was happened scary when you see you over the water wow looks like you might have no i haven't zoomed have you can i come down lower i wouldn't if you're going to be the signal let me come i don't sound silly but i want to come out that's pretty sick in it it's crazy we're literally leaving england now that's the fun bit on my first voyage flight we leave in mainland england for i know it's only canby island but that is mad the way that's holding that signal is pretty unbelievable it's like coming in from like an actual aeroplane flight isn't it when you feel like the houses and stuff or coming into land at canbe island wow that's crazy is it candy island it's got to be hold on i'm trying to recognize what's what here you're not supposed to go over houses but i'm just going to get close to figure out where i am whether i'm in england or not we're on 73 so we've we've got five percent battery or so it's crazy that's mad at something so cheap and so light two kilometers nearly send 4k footage back and shoot it at the same time do all this it's amazing absolutely amazing it's actually it's sending back actually it's 720 it sends back which is still blooming impressive amazing um but records 4k obviously on the sd card but you're basically in another another country yeah no you're not i am not island i'm on an island off of mainland england technically he's stopped i think nuts maximum flight distance reached so you've hit the maximum so i'm leaving england it won't let me go is that cause i'm locked down or is that because of dj two kilometer i don't know they must have some sort of um limitation on how far it goes you can't leave the country but that's still thrown that's still rock solid i mean the other mavic would be really struggling with that that wouldn't it that was got a zoom function somewhere i don't know where it is i could have zoomed in if you pinch the screen and do that does it do it yeah wow wow the detail oh now i can't move it i can't get here can you try zooming up how far does it go in oh because i need to move the actual wow that is so impressive look at that i know yeah that is kmv that's that's the nursery my children used to go to that's like miles from here literally miles away yeah that's insane that island i'm going to put it on city mode and do a quick pan and send it back yeah all right so here we go so you're going to do an auto that is yestery with hadley and benfield bounds behind us that's the thames estuary that's been for yacht club and then it's canva do you know you're not even in sport mode are you no i was i've just flipped it to simulator oh sorry so that's painfully then fully um heights i think that's cool am i flying sideways or pounding you just pan him that's just rudder oh i am just panning yeah let me do that again didn't look like it was turning it looked like it was drifting sideways that's so impressive honestly i'm pretty gobsmacked by how far the what the packing this into like you can get this drone the cheapest way you can get this drone is like 400 quid isn't it without the flyer package and all that oh yeah that's without the fly more package right should we just stick in fly home mode or yeah right back manually fly back can i get a zoom in on south end yeah you might be able to see us if you zoom out far enough that's south end on cedar zooming that's a long blooming way mate won't let me zoom maybe i'm already zoomed in yeah i was oh yeah right so i'll just press home button and see yeah or or you can do it on the map i can cancel it at any time can't i yeah a good thing to a good thing battery so that that's he's so impressive mate i don't think it will distance would it come does it come back in now it canceled this it won't come back in sport mode i don't think i really want to come back in sport mode i'm not going to make it back am i well what you can do is if you if you hit the map button there if you hit that map button you can actually use that to get back so you can actually steer it oh dear um cut oh we drifted we drifted right um we're completely over there aren't we yeah right let me just steam ahead and figure out where the hell we are i'm worried we're not going to make it back just hit return to home it'll get it will get itself back yeah but it goes slower doesn't matter it will get it will get you back just do that so it's got the right that's four isn't it the right one mate you're stressing me out i'm stressing myself out just hit return time strong wind warning oh god like like i say he's gonna have a cupboard do you know what the words the worst thing i've done is take off with it um plummy the worst thing i've done is take off with it really at like 40 battery and trying to do one of these tests right honestly you just shouldn't do it it's coming back look at that planet earth it's great you know saying from the discovery channel exactly like what the way you would get footage you wouldn't be able to do this you know like five years ten years ago you wouldn't be able to do this you know it's just unreal but do you see what i mean about the map you could actually steer that triangle and get it back manually that's how i'd do it if yeah and then you can stay in sport mode and just pin it i don't know where we are it doesn't look like we're anywhere near we will be it will get itself back don't worry i suppose it's still got 50 it's still got quite a lot of flight time in it yeah i'll start in a panic big time because i suppose until you've done this a few times you're kind of like oh yeah am i going to lose like a 500 pound toy in like 10 minutes it has happened in the water the worst thing is when it's like landing landing and the water's like right below and you're like no no it's like one percent battery landing landing trying to figure out where we are excellent it doesn't seem like it's moving particularly much do you know what it's gone it's not really moving is actually going home wait it's gone it's gone up to it's right it's raised its height it's raised its height mate that's what it's done in actual facts so i'll just try and do it myself do it manually yeah so get you bring your that's it right just go down so bring it down bring the height down because you don't want it to be that high um just get it right down that's it get it down to like figure out where i am now twist turn that hold on get that level with that line that line is is your way home right see that red line there so all you've got to do now is just go forward put it is it in sport mode yeah it doesn't seem to be going anywhere am i fighting so far against the wind you're doing uh you're doing 2.5 meters a second you're going into the wind so yeah but you can see yourself moving there see you just need to come yeah it seems to be moving all right now you just need to come down a bit we're on that's right don't worry i'll be fine so i'm just i'm going by side let me just do it because what you could do is just find another place twist that round an angle towards your home point which is there so you've only got that little bit to go let me let me just i'll probably i'll recognize it once it starts coming up this hill yeah i'm going to come down lower yeah come down low you're only one kilometer away now so they're going up a hill as well so i don't want to come slow down so load up see the bike part there's a railway line this has been an adventure and i wouldn't expect him to be biting my nails and panicking i love these these sort of videos i can see because you can always see at the top of this hill them orange roofs of that building behind us it's that one there so you just head towards them yeah basically hold on i've got i've gotta wrangle this down over them trees look at them colors look at that autumn how beautiful is that let me put it in cine mode just it's going to slow right down if you do that don't matter i won the footage how pretty is that though looks lovely don't it we're i'm just seeing if i can see it in the distance coming in i don't think i can i can't hear it yeah i've gone up really high to be only 500 meters away mate so we probably hear it in a minute that's going over the rock garden near us oh yeah i can't see it yet that's some sick footage of the bike park though good in it i think i can see us or someone is at us in the top right of the screen i don't know where the hell is it coming from i'm not too worried there's loads of birds out there got plenty of time but so the battery's done well wouldn't it yeah it's done really well it's on 35 and we didn't even leave considering it's it's cold as well right i'm going to bring the camera the gimbal up now sound like professional now didn't i get it there's that that's it there so you're literally oh yeah straight ahead straight ahead i can't see can i be really childish and say is it limited from how high it goes yeah it's only it's limited to how high how high would it go as it is i'm not sure but 111 meters you've got to watch for the restrictions okay i'm taking full responsibility don't panic say flight altitude exceeds 120 meters that was nice anyway for a little bit of food nice but i can't hear it where the hell is it it ain't far away it's like a couple of hundred meters in front here we go i'm going straight towards us now white's dropping down i think that's going straight towards us now must be where are we we're at that we must be up here yeah yeah your fingers near them dark bushes coming straight down towards us i feel like a pro that's a good thing with it it's just it's easy really big time but as i've showed in that bit you might you could insert the footage where i was flying it with you on the scooter because it's actually when you fly fpv drains when you when you sort of fly fpv drones this drone is pretty maneuverable actually i've got to say we're still waiting for it where the hell is it i can hear it what i'm almost above us please hello there she is where is it up there somewhere yeah come on guys can't see it there we go i'm coming down straight towards us you've got to look up and wave wait for my camera to go into its telephoto zoom mode galaxy samsung night ultra doing its thing six zoom what a voyage mate what a all voyage i think this could be an outro the video isn't it let's go little wave wave as it comes now there she's try cut your fingers off it's got the sensors on the bottom of it nice sweet spot on enjoyed your time yeah definitely
