whether you've been playing minecraft for 10 months or even 10 years chances are you've learned a thing or two about the game that have since slipped your mind minecraft is an absolute treasure trove of information and in this video i'm gonna try to bring back some of those repressed minecraft memories and help you remember a few things about the game that you may have forgotten in time for example long before the ender dragon made its way into minecraft beta 1.9 and yes there was a minecraft beta version 1.9 the first planned dragon to be added to minecraft was actually going to be a red dragon and the addition of the red dragon was hinted at more than once over the years so for that and more forgotten features within minecraft let's go ahead and let's get right into it so let's start this video off with a bag if you play minecraft in survival mode chances are you've had to deal with thunderstorms more than once before the sky gets dark hostile mobs can spawn during the daytime and most of the time you probably just sleep through the thunderstorm because it's the one event that allows you to sleep through the day cycle but if you don't do that you might have to worry about being struck by lightning if you're working outside and while you might be aware that lightning has some really interesting properties within minecraft such as the potential for a skeleton horse trap to spawn or if lightning strikes a pig it'll turn into a zombie piglen or if lightning strikes a creeper it morphs into a charged creeper did you know that if lightning strikes a mooshroom cow it'll actually morph into the other mushroom cow variant if a lightning strikes a turtle in java edition and kills it it might drop a bowl instead of its normal drops but in bedrock edition if lightning strikes a turtle it will always kill it regardless of whatever its health may have been staying on topic with lightning for a little bit longer did you know that lightning cannot strike on a block if it's not actively being rained on while that part sounds obvious this also means that if a block is being snowed on even though it is technically raining on that block lightning cannot strike the block that's being snowed on so if you want to avoid lightning altogether and not sleep through thunderstorms just build your house super high up in the sky in a mountain or tiger biome because another interesting fact is that snow generates at high up altitudes in certain biomes in the mountain variations snow will start to appear always above 90 to 95 blocks up in most tiger biomes 120 to 125 blocks up and specifically in giant tree tiger and giant tree tiger hills biomes 160-165 up so if you're looking to make us plentiful snow farm this might be a good option to go with speaking of snowmen as well while they were originally added to minecraft with minecraft beta 1.9 pre-release one craftable with two snow blocks and a pumpkin the original snow golem as shown off by notch the very day before they were added to minecraft they didn't have a pumpkin on their head at all if you want to see the snow golem variant in game for yourself just sheer the pumpkin off of the snow golem's head or stick your face through the pumpkin yeah that's pretty neat the name tag probably one of the most useful items within the game you can use them to rename your tamed animals prevent most mobs from despawning or you can even name almost any mob to dinner bone or grum and have their model rendered upside down and yes this does also mean that both dinner bone and grum the mojang employees walk upside down in game and while you might also know that if you rename a sheep to jeb it'll turn into a disco sheep you can also rename a rabbit to toast which has a memorial skin of zizen 420 girlfriend's missing rabbit and you can also rename a vindicator to johnny which causes it to become aggressive with all mobs except for other illagers and gas this one is a reference to the shining and is an item that i mentioned in one of our previous easter egg videos which i have linked on the top right of the screen in another video that we made over two years ago titled the hidden secret of minecraft bedrock we talked about how the pattern of the bedrock floor within your world is the same no matter what the world seat is allowing you to find the coordinates of any given area from just the bedrock pattern alone but did you know that the pattern of the stars within the sky also works in much the same way yeah the star pattern is not fixed it's generated based off of another seed which also is the same for every single world in minecraft that's not going to help you in any meaningful way but it is something that's neat to think about when you're staring at the moon in minecraft speaking of which the moon phases within minecraft actually have some impact on the world at large depending on which moon phase the world is in slimes will spawn more or less plentifully within swamp biomes depending on how full the moon is if there's a new moon out slimes won't actually spawn at all so here's another feature that you might not use that much the mine cart with furnace yeah ever since the introduction of powered minecart rails in minecraft beta 1.5 there's been no real reason to need to use this item for the transportation of mine carts across long distances in fact this item is so generally forgotten about that it doesn't exist in minecraft bedrock edition at all and jeb has gone even as far to say that he's considered removing it from java edition the thing is mine carts with furnaces were also pretty obsolete long before powered rails even came around from minecraft alpha through beta 1.6 mine cart boosters were a thing simply put if you stacked a ton of mine carts together and ran your own mine cart beside them as you can see here it would add a ton of time to how long your mine cart would just keep on rolling for stack up enough mine carts in the mine cart booster and you could roll for kilometers without the need for powered rails or at the time a mine cart with furnace to end off this video here's some more easter eggs that i didn't really feel qualified as forgotten features in minecraft beta 1.8 pre-releases enderman's eyes were green and they used to emit smoke instead of portal particles endermen don't just dodge protectiles they're actually immune to them as seen if you trap an enderman within a boat and then you try to hit it with a projectile endermen are the only mob to naturally spawn in all three dimensions if you stare into an enderman's eyes specifically even if it was already targeting you it won't move at all the sounds that ghasts make were actually taken from modified sounds that c418's cat made as you can see here specifically when the cat was disturbed in its sleep and the new nether's warped forest biome is the only biome in minecraft where music does not play so yeah while that's obviously not every forgotten feature or easter egg or whatever this video actually was let me know in the comment section down below if you have some forgotten minecraft features that i didn't cover here today but anyways guys that just about does it for me for now if you guys enjoyed this video please consider leaving a like on it because it would really help out myself the channel and the video quite a lot so
