[Music] hey guys and welcome back to lost bits the series where we explore video game content that goes unused altered and unseen after almost three what seems like very long years toby fox has finally released the second chapter of deltarune and i gotta say it's pretty dang good anyways if you haven't yet seen my video covering the first chapter please don't i don't know what i was doing with my voice back then but it had a whole bunch of really cool unused content some of the most interesting stuff i've come across on this series so here's to hoping this second chapter can deliver the goods as well also i'll try my best to avoid any major spoilers but if you want to avoid any sort of spoilers well this is your warning and as always if any point you do enjoy this video consider letting me and the youtube algorithm know with a like down below thanks and with all of that said it's time to be a big shot and check out some deltarune chapter 2 lost bits [Music] now before we jump on in as i'm writing this script i'm discovering way more stuff to talk about than i thought i would so i won't be able to fit it all into this one video as such i'll be mostly focusing on unused audio and graphics here while i'll try my best to have a second part featuring a whole whack load of other stuff in the near future so be sure to subscribe to be notified when it's up anyways let's first kick things off for chapter 2 here with some unused audio files the first of these appears to be an early version of noelle's theme simply titled just noel and specifically this appears to be an early version of the song girl next door here's a quick back-to-back comparison of the two so the early version sounds very heavy and aggressive while the final one is more elegant certainly more fitting of noelle's character in the game similarly next up is cyber city old which yup you guessed it is an old early version of the cyber city theme they are largely the same save for the older version having a tempo of 160 beats per minute while the final one was slightly slowed down to only 152 beats per minute here they are back to back see if you can even hear the difference [Music] furthermore this old unused version appears to be the same one that was shared by the game's developer toby fox over on twitter basically two years prior to the release of chapter two now next up this audio file isn't technically unused but it is rather either a pretty rare occurrence or you actually have to mess around with the game to hear it so thankfully the dog check screen from undertale and deltarune chapter 1 returns once again here in chapter 2. and for those that don't know what this is basically if you fool around with the game's files or if the game detects an error a simple screen will pop up with the annoying dog with some nice background music well a new alternate one can be seen in chapter 2 featuring the annoying dog or i guess dogs wheeling around in their little vehicles and anyways this is the song that plays during this screen in this chapter titled alarm underscore title screen [Music] additionally based on the name of this track it's also possible that it might have been repurposed here from the once planned undertale alarm clock app that was supposed to release on the game's fifth anniversary in 2020 even more fuel is added to this theory as even on the undertale website it stated that the developer of this once planned app was shifted to go help work on delta root and last up for the unused audio is this audio file titled static placeholder [Applause] now some have speculated that this might have been a placeholder sound for the tv static heard at the end of chapter two but these are in fact different and the file that is used in the game for the tv is titled tv noise and now let's move on and talk about some unused graphics of which chapter two here actually has an absolute truckload of so much so that let's break things up here into two parts and first start with the placeholder graphics that go unused and for those that don't know what a placeholder graphic is it's basically a temporary usually lower quality graphic made to temporarily occupy the space for testing until a more proper graphic is made anyways first up we got this small yellow source of rich placeholder potassium also known as a banana the bananas collected in chapter 2 have pretty much become an instant meme with the community so it's pretty cool to see that they also got an unused placeholder then next is this really basic placeholder graphic with just a bunch of lines and anime written on the bottom and this is apparently an early graphic for the background that's used during the power beast form s formation for chris suzy and rousey during the arcade game segment as well as towards the end of the game and speaking of the arcade game segment there's also this little guy that's a placeholder for the arcade machine that the queen gets you to play against her this happy fella features some pretty goofy looking controls that definitely don't seem very intuitive at all as well as xbox brandished on the top the xbox branding was very likely removed due to licensing restrictions and the controls and size of the arcade machine were probably altered to make it seem more realistic to be playable by multiple players the size increase is even more obvious when comparing the graphics for after the machine gets destroyed then next up is this placeholder disco ball for the party dojo we got this here placeholder graphic for the queen's mansion seen from a distance likely from this scene and this one also has some obscured text up at the top here which appears to be illegible then next are several placeholder neon signs for cyber city including the buy signs and speaking of ads there's also a few unused pop-up graphics from the battles with pop-ups the first one is a really basic placeholder with this one featuring some dark mp3s while the other one here is an older and larger version of one of the ones that is used in the game then we have this early version of the queen's cages that the queen uses to capture characters throughout the chapter there's not one but two early versions of the talking tube thing seen in chris's prison room in the queen's mansion and we also got this small graphic of a dog prisoner similar to the one seen in the police station the next unused graphic is an early placeholder version of the lock that requires the key gen from spamton to bypass but strangely this graphic appears to be similar to if not identical to a sprite of a locked door from zelda 2 adventures of link for the nes i guess now that toby fox is buddy buddy with sakurai he's feeling more confident with sneakily using some nintendo assets then next is this really basic animation of this little dude dancing meant as a placeholder for the screen seen at the start of cyber world this unused early version of the mouse wheel looking more choppy and lacking some color there's this unused crude door-like graphic listed as queen solitaire as well as we got an early placeholder version of the table seen in the queen's mansion as well as a placeholder of the three protagonists riding the table being moved by the annoying dog here rousseau and suzy are barely even on the table and the bottom of the table is also completely different as the dog's tail is seen in the old version compared to i guess the more recognizable legs next are several placeholders related to the secret boss fight with stampton neo the first of which is this early sketch of spam to neo's final form which suggests that perhaps at this point in designing him his wings were originally going to be closer to his face also for spamton are these here early versions of his wireheart attack the early version appears green as opposed to the more turquoise one seen in the final and there's also these early heart chain or connector dots as well as this spiky one there are also two more placeholder graphics related to the wireheart attack which reveal two scrapped alternate attacks the first one wireheart biter sees a very much unfinished looking chompy fella and wireheart bomb sees an equally unfinished smiling bomb since both of these also contain early sprites for the wire link chain ball things it's more likely they would be alternatives or supplements to the regular heart attack also there are unused graphics for what appears to be an early version of the final face attack from the fight seen here in orange instead of white as in the final and also graphics for this heart with spamton's signature long nose it's currently unclear what these hearts could have been for but based on the default color being white it's likely they're from another scrapped attack then to add to these there's even more unused graphics of spamton's head laughing getting distorted seemingly taking damage this discolored one related to a joke of some sorts based on the file name and there's even one with it exploding to bits again these are all likely from an earlier version of the sphampton neophyte which i guess must have featured some pretty different phases then next we have this extremely crude and basic placeholder graphic for the train tracks that are seen in the castle basement near the area with the machine and lastly are some early graphics for the pippis i guess that's how you say them eggs seen during the fight with spanton neo as you can see it appears that these pippis eggs were once planned to be yellow instead of blue as seen in the final version and i would assume these were changed since the fight uses the yellow shooter mode for the soul next is this early version of the traffic control lights seen in the city areas which look quite a bit less detailed and last up for the placeholders we got two that were also associated with chapter one the first of these is a sprite explicitly just titled placeholder and this is basically just a character outline graphic these are apparently used as placeholders for most npc characters that are capable of facing in different directions and secondly back again from chapter one is chris plays as the name implies the placeholder sprite for chris i think it's pretty strange that the game uses two separate files for these graphics each for chapters one and two despite them being identical i mean i'm not complaining the more of this guy we see the better alright so with that being it for the placeholder graphics now on to the graphics that are certainly more complete yet they still go unused first up are some early versions of the graphics used for the annoying mouse rooms these early ones are still rather complete so i wouldn't quite consider them placeholders but they do appear to have slightly less detail like with the mouse different coloring and the door appears to be a tad bigger and wider next are some unused graphics for chris and rousey standing or walking while also blushing now there was a small little secret if you want to call it that that if you stood really close to rousseau in chapter one for a while he would blush and the same thing actually happens in chapter 2 with hatless rousey as well so it appears that chris was planned to blush too and although currently unclear if related to the small secret both were considered to keep blushing while walking around that said though file names for these unused animations reference cutscene 10 which suggests that they were once planned to be used in the arcade machine cutscene with the queen also for ralph say is this pair of unused graphics in which he gets engulfed in a quite large ball of yarn a yarn ball attack can be used by the task enemies so it's believed that these graphics might have been intended to be either from battling tasks or maybe during a cutscene or battle with the task manager next although rousseau is seen hatless throw chapter 2 there is actually an unused graphic of rousey in his coaster sporting his hat clad shadowy design from chapter one this graphic does perhaps suggest that rousseau was once planned to revert back to his original design for at least a part of the chapter and i think it's a shame this was scrapped i honestly really like the more mysterious dark design so i do hope we see a return in the future chapters and speaking of future chapters although currently a total of seven chapters are planned for deltarune there are unused graphics for the chapter select screen for chapters 0 8 9 and even 10. since as of yet there hasn't been any sort of official announcement currently it's unclear if chapters 8 through 10 will ever be released or if some sort of chapter 0 prequel will happen as it's entirely likely these graphics are just here for no particular reason but if we ever do get a 10th chapter i'm pretty sure i'll be a grandpa at that point anyways back to more unused graphics we got this unused idle animation for a pop-up lifting up a tile and looking around for some prey there's this unused alternate version of the ferris wheel cart thing in which the door is angled to match the shape of the heart which was probably changed since entering a door angled like this must be pretty awkward then there are extra spoiler alert several unused animations for chris creating the dark fountain towards the end of the chapter while this one here is actually only partially seen in the projector room in the queen's mansion but the top part is cut off then there's this tailless sprite of chris and signless sprite of susie both in the dog outfit from the task manager fight then although wide suzy is seen in the computer room later in chapter 2 the game's files also contains wide sprites of her in her dark world form there are unused sprites for a scrapped attack in which suzy would throw rousseau like she could in chapter 1 potentially to throw at the wherewires just as chris can throw susie and on the topic of wherewires they also have some early animations that were changed too some look pretty much the same but others like these two attacking ones are animated a bit differently next there is an unused alternate sprite for the nice cream guy as well as burger pants unused alternate designs of the queen sitting in her chair napstablook without a police hat as well as sprites for napster looking both left and right which surprisingly aren't used as even if you interact with naps of luke from the side he will continue to face forwards towards the camera next is an unused animation of susie in her overworld style seemingly pounding a door and based on her facing upwards it's thought to maybe be an alternate version of her hitting the bunker doors then also for susie there are several graphics for her seemingly getting hurt now these are believed to have been from an early trash zone cut scene and here it looks like susie is seen bleeding and then getting healed before she stands up in an otherwise also unseen pose some speculate that this might have been scrapped since apparently lore states monsters aren't made of blood but susie also says everybody bleeds in chapter 1 so i don't know if that's really the case next there's also unused graphics for toriel walking left in her pajamas as she's only seen walking right in the game and next and i think most weird here are unused graphics for animations in which the heads of susie and rousey explode now at first i had a theory that maybe these could have been placeholder versions of the fireworks of the characters seen above cyber city after collecting the three blue check marks for the hacker but based on the names of these graphics and them looking pretty similar to the spamton neo exploding graphic i mentioned earlier it's far more likely that there's some sort of scrapped attack sequence from the spamton neophyte next up we got a whole set of unused variants of the queen's mona lisa style paintings there are early blue and pink versions also lacking a frame as seen in the final an unused version with a fiery background in both a framed as well as early unframed variety and lastly there's an old version of the paintings revealing a treasure chest which sees a different background color next are a pair of unused doors one for the queen as well as one believed to be for elsa both of these are thought to be doors for the rooms of the respective character inside of rousseau's castle and although unused in this chapter we do see that the third floor is under construction here and relsay mentions that that's where his room is so it's entirely possible these graphics may end up being seen there in future chapters next up is this strange unused animation of noel walking sideways what makes it stand out is that her head is tilted downwards which conceals her eyes which i guess was the goal considering the name of this file now some speculate that because of the more somber nature of this animation it could have been meant for the chapter's weird route perhaps after she uses snow grave she might have walked off to the right instead of up but either way it's quite a sad looking animation and i guess on the topic of sadness there's also this unused sprite of birdly looking quite unhappy and lastly for individual unused graphics here are a bunch seemingly related to what appears to be some sort of unused birthday party scene we have a pixely transition to this animation of a birthday cake as well as some presents the annoying dog with some sort of collar as well as with and without this stripe thing whatever this small thing is as well as a party hat which oddly enough has coloring despite colors lacking in all the rest of these graphics this really seems like it could have been an interesting cutscene or something so i'm really curious as to what it was or what it could end up being in the future and last up for this video are well some more unused graphics but this time entire rooms well first actually not unused but the interior of the library has slightly changed between the original chapter 1 release and this chapter 2 update the big difference here is that the door at the top here to the computer room was changed from a single door to a double with the signs on the side being adjusted to match kind of an odd change to make but i guess it makes sense then next up back to the unused stuff is this unused sprite of what looks to be early plans for the castle town several bits of the area look unfinished and we can see red text all over the place where plans were made to add stuff like npcs save points shops and more next up are mock-up graphics for chris's prison room as well as susie's castle room in chris's prison we can see the early scrapped cage as well as talking to by mentioned earlier and then for susie's room much is the same here except for the window in the back which here is the more basic looking design as seen in chris's room in the castle as opposed to the more final design and lastly there's this graphic of an earlier version of the computer lab where here the major difference is that instead of a laptop being on the desk in the middle there's only a small calculator instead and that'll be it for this part one but like i said earlier there is plenty more to come so stay tuned for a follow-up video in the near future and again consider subscribing to be notified when it's released till then if you enjoyed this video check out my older videos on undertale as well as chapter one but as always thank you all so much for tuning in today and i will see you in a bit [Music] you
