DECORATING OUR CHRISTMAS TREE, GERMAN CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS & A VICTORIAN PUDDING

hello everyone good afternoon as we mentioned in the last video jack and i are going to decorate our christmas tree today yes we are really going to do that it is i know it's still very very early but this year is so different to all the other years so far yeah and we just we feel like it yeah and so many of you feel the same way so we thought why not it's just the right thing to do today yes and it is what time is it it is 10 past two in the afternoon so it's slowly getting dark and we thought we would start later in the day so that the fairy lights will look nice later yeah and yeah let's do this come on so usually we have a christmas tree in germany a week before christmas yes most of the time i'd say we decorate one or two days before christmas eve yeah simply because the trees are fresh but in the uk they start much yes because because um well the trees most they use fresh trees here as well but most people have artificial trees and we bought did we buy that i think two years ago no three years ago three years ago yeah and for us it's more convenient because well during normal times we would go to germany and then we wouldn't have to worry about the tree and we got this one the brand is called balsam hill and it's really great the tree is great so we have to assemble that one first and oh yeah you know what before we forget this is a wicker skirt we call it wicker skirt i think yes so it looks a bit nicer and i will try to find the product online and link it for you down below because we think that's also that is something that you will keep forever and last year we used this spot here for the christmas tree and absolutely loved it so we decided to do it again section one yes so the tree is the tree is divided in three sections this is the first one this is the second one and then you just have to adjust a little bit and then it looks nice hopefully this one i mean it's not real of course but comes quite close so it's really good quality [Music] and it has become a tradition for jerk to put up the lights and we've had these slides oh my god i don't know i'd say for almost 30 years yes these are the first ones we ever bought yeah and they are still working so of course we're using them we were just talking about if we need one or two and you know what's really funny how how can we forget we do this every year and every year we talk about was it one or two chains what do you think just one we'll see are you getting on with the lights and you always you always put them on and then you you adjust them yes because then i can see how it looks and two two chains would be too much for this tree it would just be too much overbearing you've got you've got lipstick now that's good well it's the same every year so it's always like a couple of lights missing i think but yeah we don't i know that some people really have lights all over the tree you could even buy this tree with lights that has like i think a hundred lines but i don't know i grew up well real candle lights yeah when i was a child yeah really real candles and you have to be careful because yeah yeah yeah you don't do that anymore no because it's too dangerous yeah because i think i remember the child we had a lot of fights because of christmas trees seriously not in our house but okay yeah yeah yeah of course there's always an issue yes now to the decoration so but you know what um let's start with the decoration on the table so we can say something about it yeah we thought yoga and i would share some of our decoration from germany and this one i got this one last year from my sister and we have a very famous or known brand in germany called villa and they make ceramics they make beautiful china it's actually right in the area where i grew up in missouri land and this is is it in german yeah like yes so it works like this [Music] [Applause] [Music] so here's the santa claus here's a christmas tree and it has a lid and this is where you would put the candles or candlelight and i just saw we need to replace them and this makes a lovely present as well i will try to find this one or similar a similar style and link it for you it's lovely and just like last year we would put this in the smog just behind this window now this is something my sister gave us for christmas last year as a present again and it's it's diy it makes the most wonderful present to be honest so she packed it in this gorgeous box and this is they they are ornaments for the tree angels and i found i found a video on youtube so you can give that a try as well so this is just paper this is yeah it's like wood the head is wood and this is like string thread to so this is the angel hair and honestly i was so happy about this it's gorgeous and yeah we will put this one up for the first time and i don't know how many do we have two three four six so lovely we love red we love red and gold just as it's a real classic and this is a wonderful present now let's put this one here i think it's lovely i really like it no not like i love it like is an understatement and another present from my sister from last year yoga and i we really really love presents that remind us of i don't know if a certain day of people and yeah that we have forever and we have a very known brand in germany called kerta wolfhart and they are yeah they are based in horton book of their tower yeah in the south of germany yes and we would love to go there we haven't been yet and it's supposed to be yes because ruthenburg has one of the nicest old town centers in germany yes with colorful houses so my sister and her husband they they've been several times and they always go to the kitten wolfhound shop that it's open throughout the year with christmas decor and ornaments this is the first thing she got very english of course and absolutely beautiful and this is you all know by now how much i love sheep and yeah that's another one another ornament from kate wolfhard a very cute sheep it's so cute i love this so much so special and i will i will link the shop for you and i'm sure so many people from the states from asia go there every year and i'm sure they should worldwide here or here yes yeah here yeah okay and now this guy i think it's quite long so you have to no not here here see i found the right spot here you have to come here this guy is here now because it's quite long you have to find the right spot for it and i think just this year we don't buy christmas decor or christmas ornaments every year we've had most of it for many years and i i think i bought like these two hairs and that's the only thing yeah because we we like it i i don't know i don't even know if we have a style when it comes to we just we we like red and gold yes so traditional but um otherwise yeah just we just mix we just mix what we love and that as i said earlier like things that remind us of people of situations stuff like that and i believe our christmas teacher shouldn't look like it like a the ones you see in the shops true yeah it has to be unique yeah not over styled or something yeah we bought these two hairs hang on um from anthropology i can link them for you that's the only new thing and they are quite cute with their plaid dresses now this is our box with stuff that we've had for years and we're going to use this top tree top in red yeah because we really like it now that's that and then i think i'm going to use these ones yes these and these ones do remember i remember when you bought them in germany oh two are missing i think they broke yep now one is missing oh it's just one yeah i love them 20 years old you think yes and now this guy big ben some of you might remember last year's christmas gift guide for her when i suggested this one it's from fortnum and mason and it makes a wonderful present of course still always will be a wonderful present and then we put that up so this one is quite long and we have to find the right spot so i thought it would look really good here yes it's not only long it's quite heavy so you have to be careful yeah lovely okay let's use these two these two girls so what do you think here yeah oh yes no see this doesn't work to me it does really i don't think it does and now these two the telephone box we bought and the soldier is very english as well we bought this a couple of years ago and it always looks wonderful i think [Music] we're going to use two very big ornaments they are not heavy but just quite big we got them from anthropology as well a couple of years ago and this cute giraffe and this polar bear or it says circus bear and it's just fun such a cute couple isn't it yeah so we found a spot for the polar bear oh circus bear and the giraffe is here it's so so cute i should know what's in here oh yeah you know yeah we'll use this one for later definitely and uh also i think a couple of oh hang on this is i don't know if we need some rare ones and i'm not sure we'll see but definitely i think the polka dots yeah the polka dot balls and let's see what have we got in here let's see oh ah yeah yes there's another english thing see english taxi a black cab yes and there's another bed that i got from my mom many many years ago a star yes much better yes the bear [Music] so we just went through the box to find our birds because we had i think three or four birds and for us they are birds belong on a christmas tree and we can't find them and i think they are all broken i'm not sure and if we can't find them we have to get some new ones yes because they look so beautiful my my parents they have birds that are i think more than 50 years old and you know what it always reminds me of sex in the city i know that's really really strange but uh charlotte do you remember i think when she puts before she uh becomes a jew and she puts up her last christmas tree she has some very very old ornaments and it always reminds me of my parents birds i don't know why but they are beautiful i totally forgot to mention the tablecloth so i collected it this week and this is the ian mankin man king fabric and we have a bit left so the lady was so kind and also made four napkins which i will show you in one of the next videos and something else that is typical german and makes a beautiful christmas present as well so i got this smoker some years ago i always wanted one this is so german in um it's from from the atska boob in english i think all mountains and if you want to have something typical german for christmas get this we will link it for you or similar products so this is the smoker in the shape of a santa claus so this is how it works you open it up and then you can buy different scents this one is in german tanandorf so it's like a pine scent and they look like this you put it in there and then just light it excellent and now it smokes i don't know if you can see it not sure maybe from the side i don't know i mean the fact that it works can be seen here because he's quite brown here and it's the best quality it's handmade they are a bit more expensive but it's really worth it because you have them for forever yeah and it's made in germany not in china yes and just like last year i think i think we've put it up here somewhere good morning we are so so sorry we wanted to finish the tree last night and we thought it would look so nice to do it when it's dark but it didn't look good on camera and yeah so it didn't work out and we decided to continue today and finish the tree and yes so let's continue so unfortunately we couldn't find our birds so they are definitely broken because it looks so nice to have them like here and we will try to to order some maybe from cater wolfhard and then wait for a couple of weeks i don't know and then finish the tree but in the meantime good morning we thought we would continue with this yes very small ornaments yes but we bought them when we had our first flat in munich yes yeah so it's 30 years ago yes so they're really for us they're old and with a lot of memories yes very special i remember my mom was there as well and we bought our very first ornaments and yes say they are small and look quite nice and it's like this is wood right yes yeah it looks really nice [Music] and what we also do we take ribbons and make little bells and these ones are like flat ribbons with gold that looks so nice so this is really simple just take this and you come closer yeah just a little bit also these ones we've had for ages and we use them every year because this is so timeless and classic [Music] and this is the last thing we use it's called angel hair in german english are and this can burn a little and is a bit prickly so yolk is wearing gloves and when you put it right here where the lights are it just it reflects the light beautifully and looks magical and i think i grew up with this and it's part of my childhood yeah and this is our christmas tree it's very red gold also silver and this is how we really love it yeah and we of course we hope you like it as well i know that some people or we know that some people put on so much more so i don't know it seems to be more of a german thing to do that way i don't know or where at least yeah i've always had christmas please like this yeah this is never put this much on it's i call it kirsten and your style yeah and yeah and we also we we have to say it looks so much better with this um with a wicker skirt that looks so so nice it's beautiful we love it and that's our christmas tree decorated yeah first step to christmas yeah and of course we will be doing more in the next within the next weeks we are currently waiting for something from germany my parents are going to send us something and we will share and we will decorate more in the house that we will share because that's what we always do this is just the first step you want to create a victorian pudding a dessert yeah nestle road cream yes some of you might remember that yoga and i we met mrs croatham from english heritage and we adore her and the channel when she creates them all the recipes it's amazing yes and we just want to create this recipe and hope it will work out uh yeah let's see let's see this is what you need double cream sugar gelatin chestnut puree lemon zest dried cherries and we still had some cranberries left so we're going to use cranberries candid peel and vanilla bean extract and we're going to use this beautiful mold that we bought on etsy months ago so first of all use the peel of one lemon this by the way yes we should share this i think a couple of years ago we got this as a christmas present and it's amazing do you know is that the the brand microplane yeah it's us it's so good we use it all the time now add 100 grams of sugar and it says half of the double cream i think also a little bit of vanilla bean extract and yogurt is preparing the gelatin according to the package okay first i have to say bring the cream to simmer yeah and then i'm adding the gelatin so this is on very low heat isn't it yes because you have to be careful yeah especially with the gelatin so now i'm adding the gelatin yes and this mixture needs to be simmered for about five minutes and in the meantime i'm going to whisk the rest of the double cream with a tiny bit of sugar just a little bit now add the chestnut puree into a cold bowl we've never used that one so that's something new and then they infused cream it's called correct and the gelatin mixture and now mix well it looks a little bit like vanilla pudding now fold in the whipped cream and finally add the dry cherries in our case cranberries and the candy peel creasing the mold with some this is coconut oil yeah you should take almond oil but yeah we don't have it so so now joke is putting it into the mold but unfortunately we don't think it's it's good because york just said that um he added the the cream into their mixture when it was still too warm and i don't know see it looks really really weird it tastes good though and we will see so the pudding needs to be in the fridge for at least six hours and it's now yeah i think it's three o'clock yes it's it's three o'clock in such a dark day it's it's getting dark already it's crazy so we thought we would say goodbye now and show you the result later on yes yeah we'll show for the first time and if it doesn't turn out perfectly it's fine we're not perfect at least it seems to be very tasty it seems to be very tasty and not too much work and yeah so that's good and yeah course it's dark but we still wanted to share so this is the result and unfortunately the pineapple has vanished but it looks still very nice doesn't it yeah yeah and yellow is quite excited to give it a try let's see we are actually thinking of making this as a dessert for christmas oh yeah so it's good it's you can taste the lemons and probably the vanilla extract actually i think no it's just review it's really good it's really good that's good to know and even if it doesn't look perfect it's so you say it's great and you know tastes really good good to know and maybe it really will taste better if you've got some cherries cherries yeah so we'll do that next time because i think this was good for the first time and then we do it again and then maybe we have a bit of practice i think what i like most is really 11 yes 11 yeah which because it gives you this kind of freshness yeah that's good so this is the perfect victorian dessert that's for today yes hope to see you soon yeah and
