Thing about it is, David Blaine isn't the star of the show here.
The three participants are the stars, they carry the show. 99% of what's going on here is them, and each one of them is amazing. That's where the genius is, most magicians make it about them, their tricks, but this is an incredibly clever angle.

The mind reading one - I can tell when he's flicking through the cards he pauses ever so slightly, and that's the card 'that she was thinking of' as it's the only one the eye can register, everything else is just a blur. Still a lot of skill to do that though.
