[Music] and it landed under the face your watch time your wrist over I see under your watch there's a card here I'll take these stupid questions not related I know you thought of the ace of diamonds yeah but you were kind of thinking of another card but you weren't even sure what it was but there was something like I'm sort of thinking of one but you didn't know what it was is that true partially what card was that so we could use it what number at least was in when the the jacks okay so when when you weren't even sure it was possibly a jack right yeah so you know I mean yeah subconscious a look so let's take for example take out your two jacks okay you want I mean it's up do you want the red or the black it's up to those are the blacks okay sort of black Jack's like this agree it's not like it's not like I influenced you or sunlight No correct thank you look so scared that you're just gonna be slightly confused well no you want the black yeah Black Jack yeah yeah I mean that's up to you guys you know that game called three-card Monte if you heard of that it's like a game where they think I'm Martin yeah have you heard of that ever yeah yeah so it's a game where you have to follow certain cards okay let's use the hey let's try with these hold both your hands palm up so you just need to track for me exactly where the jacket clubs is yeah okay and you need to track exactly where the jack of spades goes right now without hey let's do this so do you remember which is which yep so you know which is a spade which is a tactical games fire but and don't so look at me for a second so you agree I can't like switch them or anything you just did saying number up to 10 for me and you say number up to 10 as well alright say that 8u that's all so you say everybody says a number say number up to 10 see ya and see you so we have nine eight six so we're leaving out my number what can you guess you just guess you said to tell so you can do that my number was seven I guessed did you see what I just did no why'd you do I just took the two sevens out of the deck when did he do that just when you said seven was my number they didn't I could see no my permission put him in his hands the jacks okay she did this for a living [Laughter] experiment goes here right yep so look you see how two cards kind of jump across yeah so that's basically would see how they switch in front of it yeah if I do it quick you don't see it so look I'll just take this right three diamonds if I do this you don't see it but it shoots how do you shoot it felt like you're asking how do I shoot the card I'm going to show you yeah let's take out two aces okay hold these touch 1 anyone which one this one yeah if you're not sure you can change maybe like it yeah yeah you see it yeah so she's saying what's the method how do I shoot it so here's what I do first I leave it out slightly like this right okay then as I shuffle I'm tracking it so I know your cards not at the bottom right and I know that it's not at the top that's what I know okay so then I shuffle and I know your card is now 25th that's estimating here's the hard part I need to cut to your card with this hand look I cut right into the middle which is about 25 one card comes out shoots through the air lands and there it is how how though like because when you shuffled how are you keeping track when you shuffle where it is in the deck there's no way to keep track of that any shuffle - amazing David Blaine everybody my method take you for coming in thanks for having me so tell you know I just asked you but you ever get sick of this cuz I mean it's like the books in our faces well everybody does and I see David Blaine do badges like what the now I'm just always messing around it's like a constant all day and all night things yeah I'm almost never practiced never not practicing do you ever get scared when you're on TV or like never sit something's gonna go wrong now because when it goes wrong it just keep going yeah like you just don't stop you know you can keep going until you get it right so how do you the fun of magic because there's no real set beginning and end you know okay so that's where it is cuz I was like how do you keep going like how do you make it so that it's like people don't even know nobody knows what the end result is gonna be so then therefore you can just keep going and it's like jazzing almost just keep going until you figure it out don't know what our next break is gonna be about anyway so if we mess up on the break two breaks before I mean nobody knows what we're gonna end up no but it's also fun because you don't you get with magic you get to go on any route that you want yeah I mean so it's not like a set thing so I'm always pushing it and always trying to figure out new things and thinking about new things while I'm do magic think of it no cuz it's always fun for you to try and figure out another way to get to because the work part is always the most fun part so the work itself is actually the most fun I think with anything pretty much you always think like the end result is the best part like oh when I get there and get no that's never like yeah it's like even people to climb like Mount Everest it's not they're never like AHA Matt the top they're like climbing up is the part that drives them you're really dropping like knowledge it's not even just magic like writing right that was like life lesson right there that's not just you know magic it's it's like it's true it's the journey getting there right so what's your there what you gonna do right another way to get there right that's right you find another challenge and it's the challenge itself that's the drive you know sorry I'll give you in the REIT and the important part about that they did a big study it was in a book called nurture shock where they took lots of kids in a New York City school system and split them up and what they did is they took half of them in complementary em on their results like oh you were great on the test the other half they complemented on the work they said oh you work so hard the kids that were complimented I'm working hard they kept getting better and better the kids that were complimented on the result we're suddenly paranoid that they were gonna mess up and not be as great so they started to actually lower and lower so that has to do with everything and I think in life basically David Blaine dropping Ollie's Frankie does David Blaine you're doing very great work we were happy that you came in this morning okay you have a 95 so we appreciate you thank you

love the process not the results

I've read this a million times, Tim Ferriss, Stefan James, million other people and books, but I just can't internalize it. I know it logically, but not emotionally.

I still think along the lines of: I'd be happy when I'd achieve X in magic or I'd be happy with this and this job, I'd be happy if I won this screenplay contest...

I don't understand what it takes to switch the mentality. I feel stuck. I feel like I'll never be able to do it.

To get back on topic, I love how he forced the 7. Great micro lesson right there!

Very simple stuff even though I’d never be able to do it. His delivery is what makes it work for him. He’s totally telling the truth when he says he keeps going until it works. For example, he was waiting and waiting for someone to say 7 and kept asking until he got it.
