enemies jesus oh full of graceful is uh forgive us ourselves [Music] to jesus uh i gotta keep uh in the name of the father son of the holy spirit the lord be with you to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries let us call to mind our sins i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy let us pray grant us o lord we pray that the course of our world may be directed by your peaceful rule and that your church may rejoice untroubled in her devotion through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god for ever and ever a reading from the first letter of saint peter beloved concerning the salvation of your souls the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and investigated it investigating the time and circumstances that the spirit of christ within them indicated when it testified in advance to the sufferings destined for christ and the glories to follow them it was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you with regard to the things that have now be been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the holy spirit sent from heaven things into which angels longed to look therefore gird up your loins gird up the loins of your mind live soberly and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of jesus christ like obedient children do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance but as he as he who called you his you is holy be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct for it is written be holy because i am holy the word of the lord the lord has made known his salvation sing to the lord a new song for he has done wondrous deeds his right hand has won victory for him his holy army the lord has made his salvation known in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice he has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of israel the lord has made known his salvation all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our god sing joyfully to the lord all you lands break into song sing praise the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark peter began to say to jesus we have given up everything and followed you jesus said amen i say to you there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands with persecution and eternal life in the age to come but many that are first will be last and the last will be first the gospel of the lord well today is uh mardi gras that translates to fat tuesday uh i get to celebrate my fat tuesday with father nielsen at delaney's tonight so that'll be good um also it's shrobe tuesday uh roughly translates into a time to just get ready for lent uh go to confession things like that but a time too for us to take stock and and to to look forward to this time this special time this lenten season uh for all of us to get near unto the lord and of course we're going to do that in a very special way this year with our 90 days to peace so lots to look forward to this is a time where we say to our lord you know in this way or that i have strayed from you i i might want to make amends i want to come home you know like the prodigal son i want to come home it's no fun being away from you being separated from you so i want to make every effort i can to come home again so i urge you you know we're going to start tomorrow and get real disciplined in the just the basics of our catholic faith make sure those are all in place for a lifetime so we'll take 90 days to get those ingrained but uh but maybe you spent some time today to say you know when is the best time to do my morning offering or when is the best time to pray my rosary when is the best time to take my 15 minutes uh at least of of mental prayer of being alone and quiet still with the lord and just get ready in that way so we're not trying to fit it in amidst the treadmill of our lives so we ask god to truly bless this season of lent that we're heading into and help it to be the best land that we've ever celebrated please stand setting our hopes completely on god's grace let us bring our needs to our loving father for all church leaders may the example of jesus inspire them in humble service of love for god's people we pray to the lord we pray for peace in ukraine and throughout the world we pray to the lord r lord for this faith community may the love of christ inspire us to share his love with our neighbors we pray to the lord for the faithful departed may jesus welcome them to the great wedding feast of the lamb and today's mass is being offered for andy shirtley we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer heavenly father graciously look with favor upon our prayers which we ask through christ our lord blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earthwork of human hands will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever oh blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you fruit of divine work of human hands will become our spiritual drink blessed be god forever pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father o god who provide gifts to be offered to your name and count our oblations as signs of our desire to serve you with devotion we ask of your mercy that what you grant as the source of merit may also help us to attain merits reward through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for we know it belongs to your boundless glory that you came to the aid of mortal beings with your divinity and even fashion for us a remedy out of mortality itself that the cause of our downfall might become the means of our salvation through christ our lord through him the host of angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence forever may our voices we pray join with theirs in one course of exultant praise as we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest to you therefore most merciful father we make humble prayer and petition through jesus christ your son our lord that you accept and bless these gifts these offerings these holy and unwanted sacrifices which we offer you firstly for your holy catholic church be pleased to grant her peace to guard unite and govern her throughout the whole world together with your servant francis our pope and donald our bishop and all those who holding you to the truth had on the catholic and apostolic faith remember lord your servants and all gathered here whose faith and devotion are known to you for them we offer you the sacrifice of praise they offer for themselves and all who are dear to them matthew simon and jude linus cletus clement sixtus cornelius cyprian lawrence chrisognos john and paul cosmas and damian and all your saints we ask that through their merits and prayers in all things we may be defended by your protecting help therefore lord we pray graciously accept this oblation of our service that of your whole family order our days and your peace and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation and counted among the flock of those you have chosen be pleased oh god we pray to bless acknowledge and approve this offering in every respect make it spiritual and acceptable so may become for us the body and blood of your most beloved son our lord jesus christ on the day before he was to suffer he took bread in his holy and venerable hands but with eyes raised to heaven to your god is almighty father giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness blessed passion the resurrection from the dead and the glorious ascension into heaven of christ your son our lord we your servants and your holy people offer to your glorious majesty from the gifts that you've given us this pure victim this holy victim this spotless victim the holy bread of eternal life and the chalice of everlasting salvation be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance and to accept them as once you are pleased to accept the gifts of your servant abel the just the sacrifice of abraham or father in faith and the offering of your high priest melchizedek a holy sacrifice a spotless victim in humble prayer we ask you almighty god commanded these gifts to be born by the hands of your holy angel your ultron high in the sight of your divine majesty so that all of us who through this participation at the altar receive the most holy body and blood of your son may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing remember also lord your servants who've gone before us for the sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace grant them o lord we pray in all who sleep in christ a place of refreshment light and peace to us also your servants who those sinners hope in your abundant mercies graciously grant some share in fellowship with your holy apostles and martyrs with john the baptist stephen matthias barnabas ignatius alexander marcelinus peter felicity perpetua agatha lucy agnes cecilia anastasia and all your saints in venus we beseech you into their company not weighing our merits but granting us your pardon through christ our lord through whom you continue to make all these good things oh lord you sanctify them fill them with life bless them and bestow them upon us through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever the peace
