I'm going to show you how to create this kind of cool thumbnail using nothing but your phone and cap cut hasn't even possible magic you want to start by standing in front of a kind of plain background like this in front of a good lighting Source like in front of a window like I'm doing right here and taking a couple photos now let's jump into cap cut you should know that cap cut isn't as of yet made to create thumbnails here on mobile although you can do it on desktop and on the web with cap cut but if I have your phone this is where you want to be I'm using my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard hooked up to my phone to show you what I'm doing just so you can see this cursor on the screen but it works exactly the same using your fingers probably even better before we create a new project we're going to use one of cap Cut's newest features which is using AI to generate an image we'd like to create a background that nobody else has so we're going to click on text to image and we want it to be 16 by nine so here in the bottom left we're going to choose that icon and choose the aspect ratio from here 16x9 we want the quality to be really good so we'll just crank that up all the way click the check mark and then we're going to type in what we want to create futuristic laptop with colorful keys and a bright background on a black mirror screen should be directly facing the camera not at an angle and I did that so that the the screen to be directly facing me and I wouldn't have to angle the text it'll be easier to put text or anything on the screen of the laptop if that's what we want to do I'm going to hit generate and I'm going to cross my fingers that it works because you don't always get what you're looking for three weeks later so one of these kind of worked this laptop right here is at least facing towards us they're going to modify and say add colorful lights to background hit generate and see what it comes up with this time 2 000 years later so this one yeah that's not too bad right let's just go ahead and hit upscale to get a high resolution version of it looks good enough we're gonna hit save now we're just going to jump into cap cut and create a new project and select from our photos the image we just created right there hit add and boom that's that's going to be our background now we need something on top of it say my face so we're going to add an overlay and overlay allows you to add something on top of the base layer I'll click add overlay and I'm going to jump into an album I created by clicking right here and choose thumbnails and which image smile let me use let's use that one I guess it's sitting on top but you know all that stuff's in the way how do you get rid of all that stuff so we just slide over here since it's already highlighted that layer is already highlighted I'm gonna go to cut out all you got to do is hit remove background and Bam now the background's moving I can see me the color on my face is okay but it could be better so we're going to just scroll over here to adjust and we're going to add a little more color maybe click on saturation bump up the saturation a little bit and you really want your your thumbnails to pop so they should be pretty saturated and let's sharpen a little more I'd also like maybe a tiny bit more contrast gonna click on this graphs icon and you can make what's called a little S curve just a tiny bit of the S curve bam and Bam oops and yeah that looks that looks okay it's super subtle and then we click on this down arrow to call it good and click on the check mark and now that doesn't look bad right so let's go ahead and move me over way over here I could use my fingers to make me a little bit bigger but you can also go over here to basic and just hit scale and make it a little bit bigger I think I want to be way over here off to the side and I want to be kind of big I look kind of crazy geez I don't know if I can use this well if that was my thumbnail that's because we went with crazy let's go ahead and scale the laptop up a little bit too so we're just going to move it over to this side a little bit and scale a little bigger so you can put some stuff on it probably okay right there let's hit the check mark because this is a cap cut tutorial we probably want the cap cut logo here so we're just going to click these left arrows hit add overlay and we're going to go back to that folder I created where I happen to save the cap cut logo click add and I've got the cap cut logo which is obviously way too big as well so we're going to again go over to basic around there it's a good start now we just need some text we're gonna hit add text I'm going to type in what are we doing a thumbnail tutorial so all caps thumb nail and we want to click on style and give it a background so click on background we want that kind of background and you know I kind of like that just as it is I'm going to scale it may be a tiny bit smaller put it up here thumbnail I like it on top of that thing click the check mark then to create another text layer we're just going to hit add text again and type in all caps again tutorial grab that guy down here one thing I might want to do is angle the cap cut logo just for fun so I'm going to go back again and to get to that cap cut logo I just click on it right here and now I can manipulate it and I'm going to scroll over here and choose what I'm going to choose do you know basic and click on rotate how about that way so in a few minutes we've created it but now now what do you do you can't really export if I hit export it's just going to make a video so we're going to do is just grab it and take a screenshot but you'll notice that it's got these blue bars around it so I'm going to click here so the blue bars go away there they went away here too and on that side screen and they're going to take a screenshot by holding the plus button and the side button on an iPhone there's our screenshot now I'm going to click on it and we're going to modify it now you you're probably thinking Trevor why didn't you turn it sideways and take a full resolution screenshot of it so that it would be you know higher res well these screens are very high resolution and if I do that and use the entire thing as an image it's going to be too big YouTube only allows thumbnails up to two megabytes so to this to make it smaller less real estate so just using my fingers I'm going to scale it and it's already 16x9 because we've created that background in 16x9 hit done here in the top left save to photos and Bam just like that we've got a pretty awesome thumbnail that we can upload using YouTube Studio to see how to remove a green screen and cap cut you want to click on this video right here
