[Music] hey guys welcome to couple of value this is a channel that likes to talk about mindset business growth anything to bring value into your life in today's video we're going to talk about the cost of living in antalya which is a city in turkey now we're a couple that lives in toronto canada and we recently visited turkey we went to different cities and one city we fell in love with was uh was antalya antalya is a beautiful city in southern turkey we enjoyed our stay there so much that we explored the cost of living and after doing our research we want to bring you all the information in case you're thinking of the same thing yeah so this is a great video for those who live in antelia those who are interested in going to antalya and those who live in other cities that want to compare now before we dive in i want to talk about the currency exchange what is your dollar worth in turkey now the currency in turk in turkey right now is the turkish liras and we are talking about the exchange rate currently in 2021 and just to keep in mind these are the currency rate as we are filming this video so we're going to discuss the most popular currencies of the world today so we're going to do the us dollar canadian dollar and the euro now one u.s dollar is equivalent to seven lira's and 46 cents one canadian dollar is equivalent to five liras and 86 cents and the powerful euro of course is equivalent one euro is equivalent to nine liras and nine cents so in this video we're going to be going over the expenses in turkish lira's so the first and major expense you're going to incur when you're traveling or living there is either going to be your rent or your hotel expenses so we found that in antalya it's pretty cheap to actually either have an airbnb or to rent so the cost for renting an airbnb or hotel is about 175 to 300 turkish lira per night we stayed at a really nice airbnb in antalya it was this really nice it was a big house that separated into different like units so there's other people living in there and it had a beautiful courtyard and what was amazing is that when we first arrived on talia we checked in our airbnb and i guess i was unpacking and you went out to explore and you came in to tell me to say like whoa we're so close to everything and i was just like okay i can't wait to go out with you later and literally we were like not even a two-minute walk a one-minute walk from like the main city um the hype area of antalya so for us to be able to afford that much for airbnb near near such a crazy fun destination in italia was absolutely amazing when we mentioned city centers this includes all coffee shops restaurants shopping everything you need beaches this is literally like minutes away from where we see an airbnb so for the price that we paid it was absolutely worth it so you could easily rent a apartment in the city center for about 2 000 turkish liras a month or if you go in the outskirts you could find something easily for about a thousand a month so next on our list is the cell phone plan so for 20 gigs we paid 175 liras so they have four different telecom companies and the one we went for was turksell the other ones works uh similar in price range but this one was promoted to be the cheapest and most reliable and we found no problems with it so we had about 20 gigs each on our plans in about 750 minutes we ran into no issue we both worked from home and if the wi-fi of the airbnb wasn't working we easily connected to our cell phone data and we never ran out surprisingly like there was days where we had no wi-fi at all we both had to work and we were like oh crap this is gonna take up our gigs but it didn't surprisingly so it pretty much lasted us all throughout our trip a good month so for transportation there are buses and taxis we mostly took the taxi because it was pretty cheap it's about five turkish liras uh to start and then it's three turkish layers per kilometer so when you get to turkey there is no uber the uber app works as a taxi app so when you do use the uber app in turkey anywhere you're gonna find that a taxi comes and picks you up and you can use the uber app that way you can also download their taxi app it's be taxi and you can request a taxi that way and do the payment through your card so that you don't have to carry around cash or use cash when you're in the taxi but just a heads up some taxis in antalya do not take card that's something we learned the hard way luckily i had some cash on me so that's something to be aware about so there are also buses for transportation and it's about three turkish lara per week per one way for the most part since our airbnb was close to the city center we hardly used a taxi everything was walking distance and walking is pretty common in antalya if you're closest close to the city center so i do think most people can get away without a car but yeah those are some options that we have for transportation and if you really want to get around quicker you can rent a car so in antalya we did rent a car from europe car and the price was 1650 turkish lira for two weeks so for groceries we found that it was quite cheap compared to where we live we spent about 200 turkish liras and we were able to fill up a fridge yeah as as canadians or westerners visiting turkey food and groceries was super cheap especially coming from canada where we have the ongoing joke that we spend about 150 in our on our in our fridge is like empty um whereas there food was really really cheap overall and at the same time something to consider a lot of the a lot of the groceries were organic or fresh and they tasted so much better and like the tomatoes were so much better than what we've had here or in the space and the cheese and so it was just it was absolutely amazing going grocery shopping and getting a full week's worth of just delicious healthy groceries for that price so that's one thing that really really stood out to us when it came to groceries so let's get to the exciting part eating out so food again is very cheap when you come from a western country and you're spending in turkish liras we found that street food was super cheap it was about 10 to 20 turkish liras to get something like a donor and fries and a drink and sometimes you could pick up like rice or a shawarma for about 10 to 15 turkish layers for a mid-range restaurant you can expect to pay about 50 to 100 liras for two people um our first night in turkey was shocked when we got the bill because we ordered so much food because we were just starving we ordered kebabs appetizers drinks dessert tea and like that would have been equivalent to a good hundred bucks for a turkish restaurant in toronto that's a hundred dollar uh for toronto but for that it became a hundred liras which was amazing because i ate my heart out and i didn't feel bad spending money on food whatsoever so that's something to consider and if you want to get a little bit fancy and go to a high-end restaurant it's not that much more we spent about 180 turkish liras dinner for two with drinks and i got a whole feast of seafood with rice with fish and the food was just amazing it was like a big platter of different like seafood which is something yeah which is very expensive if i were to get this back in canada or in the us or anywhere in europe so a side note antalya borders the mediterranean sea so it's like fresh fish fresh of everything there's abundance of seafood so and it's just absolutely delicious with eating out in antalya now when it came to entertainment we did a lot of touristy stuff because we were new to italia and we were exploring new things so we went on a cable car that went up on a mountain and that would that turned out to be 50 liras for both of us so it was about 25 layers a person for the ticket which is an amazing experience and some other things is like going to the beaches italia has beautiful beautiful beaches and for the most part they were free and if you wanted to rent an umbrella or a beach chair it would equal to about five liras which was crazy cheap because we've we've been to italy and spain and we've been to the beaches and it's actually so expensive to rent um a beach chair so to see that that was really nice to see at the most beautiful beaches in turkey the most beautiful and the least crowded beaches and we did one other very special thing which was to take a day tour with a private company and they took us on a boat tour to all the islands uh the whole day and food was provided with tea unlimited tea and that cost us about 200 turkish laras per person okay and i think i feel like you're leaving out important details this was a day tour boat ride um from it they even provided the shuttle to take us to the boat um from 9am to 6pm and they took us to all the pretty like bay areas there was places to swim they provided food they also provided tea and dessert throughout the day um so for the amount that we paid in the experience that we had oh like it was so freaking amazing so we still rave about to friends and family about that day because it was just that one uh one day that will go in the books for both of us and at the same time we've paid very less for it yeah exactly and if i were to compare that to doing a boat tour in for example somewhere in positano or anywhere in italy it costs maybe five or six times that amount for the same experience so the last thing for those who like to keep up with their fitness and go to the gym while they're traveling or if they live in antalya was gym cost it cost me about 140 turkish liras per month to attend this gym and the gym was good enough that it had everything you needed to have a good workout alrighty guys that is our cost of living for antalya this beautiful city in turkey i'm obsessed with it he's obsessed with it we can't wait to go back delicious foods amazing restaurants beautiful breathtaking beaches so many fun things to do uh we recommend you guys visiting there we actually actually recommend you visit antalia before you go to istanbul which i know is the main destination for turkey for most people but um i i've heard it's really hot in the summer time we went during october where the weather was just bliss it was amazing um but overall we hope that this video helps you in case you're interested in visiting there or moving there and yeah all right guys that pretty much sums up the expenses that you'll incur whether you travel or live in italia please if you have
