Chet Almost Crashes Planter Into Service Truck. Episode 10.

how's it going today guys I'm back in the planter on a half section so 300 acres I did half of this the other night just finishing it up [Music] wonder what dad's up to I know they've been widowed they're trying to work up some of the last corn ground today it has sprinkled out so now my windows are all jacked up I only wish that Nicole could be here wipe them down for me wipe it wipe E here [Music] you gotta love it winter greens or sprinkles it's just like a seagull causing trouble with the windshield globally there was the run that's why I stopped to pick the rock up and to wash the window or wipe up that's nice poke it in the ground nice and deep suppose I'll get a wood tick now never throw a rock into the wind all the dust flies off into your eyes still learning relearning so I'm out of my element here today I'm supposed to usually be in the planter first-class cornfield or two here we're a little bit too wet so we have been focusing on soybeans and hanging high so we got me in the solver you can see it back there and I am relearning a lot of the things that I used to know back in the 90s but then I got to be plans going well now Here I am today started from the wrong side of the field forgot to ask Eric where did you start fertilizing from I seen him over there but I always start from that side the north side works out that he did it so I made a few rounds before that got corrected usually when the guys on the radio talking back and forth the whole herd of people everything's good but when you get the phone call from your brother because he didn't want to say the things that he said over the radio to me about not paying attention that was my bad still learning I'll do better Andy so I'm running the sulfur air he's over there waiting for the last little bit of fertilizer because of course we ran just the cord around short I believe is what it was maybe a little bit more so back to town with the truck shed he's a plant beans back towards home and we are trying to get this last cornfield all set up so that I can maybe tomorrow but if you want to look at what we have to work with it's one of our wetter fields there's about oh I think it's 14 circles out here that we get to go around it's not the best good ground bad drainage [Music] that's my dad yeah he's picking rock I'm not there to keep everyone rolling so I think it's been pretty out of control for them today I don't know if that's been shooting I gave him a GoPro but from what I've been hearing on the radio it sounds like complete mess of organization problems which I don't think no-one really realizes when I'm not around the farm just kind of corral the people around and keep everyone moving and organized it is a major asset actually to do that for me to do that or somebody dad can do it also a lot of equipment going today so it's hard to keep everyone organized on where they're all supposed to be at they got two Rock Pickers going they got digger and ass offered and they were spreading fertilizer which takes two guys and then I'm over here by myself just like in a totally different world but what I've been hearing on the radio is complete chaos too many bosses not enough jeeps you never heard that saying before I'm sure you have but that's kind of what's happening everyone has their own idea on what should be going on and no one's there to organize the chaos but I think we got it all figured out now so I think everyone's organized they're getting cranked and now they finally got ahead of me from last night's debacle of you know after the shutdown early because the diggers went for the wrong field which is what it is I got on my service the planner so it wasn't like I wasn't doing anything didn't leave the farm till about 10:30 11 o'clock so if you guys watched us set up this DB 60 this winter when we put all them air clutches on the planter a little update on them them are working really well as far as I know that continuous flow Silla night that we put down there on the hitch that both compressors on instead of just one little pump trying to keep up pumping air it's working great I highly suggest that if anyone's still running true count clutches on their planner and have problems burning out the motors because we always had problems with that well we put two pumps on continuous flow still annoyed the one pressure switch so that they will turn out the on at the same time which seems to be working a heck of a lot better than the other way it was set up with just one pump we have this little air filter in the cap this is where it actually sucks all the air nice and clean air in the cap to pump up so you don't get dust in your system and that this little filter don't plug in currently I think it's running I can feel it air going inside this thing it's kind of cool yeah so that's a little update on my end hopefully see what dad's up to looking for my planter tractor those were the days as a good one still is where she is checking we better get a little bit half gallon Oh can t remember what I'm doing filming with my opener I thought I was doing evidently sorry Nicole back planting corn and a couple 3-4 days off there it is that's what you call a trencher something's jacked up hung up somewhere but what's the problem here there's the problem Crocs I don't feel like hurting my shoulder getting a ride planting all by myself today for this afternoon gotta go get seed fertilizer now and I hate flat rocks where can I lay that so the more don't get it that looks good my mom so I did finally find out the price of what that hub cost Justin actually just texted me and said I heard you guys we're wondering what the hub costs on YouTube and he said it's not nearly as bad as you were thinking it was but it's still kind of bad about five hundred and seventy five bucks oh phone table down we have more bolts at the farm you okay just walking across the acres on it was so fun yeah the way the radio sounded it's on pretty horrible yeah every day can't be butterflies and rainbows or ever you want to do it I don't know nothing about the bushing but we do have more bolts if they're planning on sending the Bobcat back out they should be upstairs in the Bobcat box all right dirt that will be done shortly then okay you know a miracle goal and rolling I imagine all right keep me updated but that was just a thought of mine oh yeah and you want to run my phone is dead by noon constant phone calls and I'm on YouTube and Instagram a lot in here because it's kind of somewhat boring on my long rounds oh yeah so I got a bit of a situation here where I come through this little ditch and trapped myself in this one acre field and I barely made it the first time zero so here we go I'm lowering the planter because I don't have a chance otherwise shifter up oh my please don't plug I am not messing around in that anymore that actually went better than the last time I come in they're all crooked Kitty Wampus why is everything making so much noise Oh oh I've been trying these adaptive curves and I don't think much of them I don't they don't work and you go around the corner it over swings it and under swings that I've tried slower I've tried my normal speed when I tell you guys that we farm in Slough country I mean sharp jagged corners at the question if you should even turn that sharp of the planter sometimes nightmare combining carne so tedious getting around those curbs markers I don't know what I'd do without at least I can see where I'm driving here's a nice straight fence line Amato skiing along on a straight track whether I got my blood pressure up when I was going along that scary whoo wait I calm down because I got my blood pressure up going through that model because I come in there all sideways trying to turn with the good old two-track boy let's just say the jerk steering was occurring that's you start jerk steering a tee track when you cannot turn out of it and you're getting stuck you start aggressively just slamming the steering wheel to the right because that allows that track to keep going and also then dead stop the other one so you just basically do this only much more violently and that allows that track to at least be helping somewhat dig yourself out of the mud is that a fix to the problem no no it isn't there is no fix to a two track in mud it's it's pretty hopeless actually so the fortrex man it's windy out today I had a bit of a problem here on row number 30 where Mike watch fell right off and quit planting I'm like well crawl dad mom mom's like okay I'll bring some tools down and then I realized that the shop truck sits on the headlands I called dad back and said why didn't you tell me that shop trucks sitting on the headlands Oh your heads in your butt - thanks dad how that me do I want this come apart there we go [Music] [Applause] Hey two minutes 56 seconds per fix back up all right tool check we're good somewhat embarrassing there's supposed to be a set screw over the set screw to hold the set screw so the other set screw don't come out if that makes sense but the set screw that holds the set screw stop put my tools back in the truck I'll be on my way again until it falls out again what a half get some parts [Music] perfect [Music] head stop almost killed it come on yet dear downshift when I put you in gear it's one thing I like about case it always defaults back to fourth gear sometimes this thing will be fall back to 11 next time it will stay in the gear that you were driving at just don't understand it I'm sure it's some operator failure well I'm currently ate half my sandwich I better sleep this for two in the morning or I'm gonna be a hunting greedy bugger just open up my second mello Yello bring an energy drink couple hours ago sometimes rain is a good thing catch up on some sleep but I'm not complaining about the beautiful weather out boy that's just great get in the field early like we're normally I would say right now it's May first normally when we're kinda shoot to be planting corn dad is slanting corn right now second the last field I don't think they're going to be working the last field which is only 40 acres so literally less than an hour for him to plant it I wonder if there's any oh yeah hope there's some left third me why I said you don't old are getting down there taking myself seed and fertilizer man I don't like farming by myself to all to you I say to all you that are all by yourselves farming you guys are the man that's off via [Music] well it's May 1st and it's windier than well it's windy out there backing up the fill up corn seed for the last time for 2020 and it is May Day today very very quick planting season this year best fastest we've maybe done so hopefully it'll be a great year I shouldn't do this and talk at the same time neither keeping on I'll be right there I don't know why they have to make a guy go through this screen gonna read all this every time you shut tractor off ok yeah Ann's coming but not yet a little bit farther a little bit more keep on yeah oh yeah I agree to all that yeah ok except there I did it wonder what I just gave away [Music] it is windy me okay because we don't have a scale on the tender high time it that way I know how much to put in each side otherwise that can be off and then you get to do the scoop tail and I don't like sticking my body in that little hole pulling out a great big five-gallon pail [Music] [Music] because we got all a spoil from a ditch cleaning project oil is on the edge of the field I just doze that if you follow me on instagram at Larsen farms or dad at dodge boy Doug oh I promise you you will not be a disappointed I would even encourage getting an Instagram account just to follow along is that weird for me to say I don't anyways I just spread that all out and if you followed me on Instagram and seen that it is not so I think we're kind of kind of let that dry a bit and have somebody that's whoever gets time taken dis that spoil try and dry it out no it's not gonna be very productive but to make the field nice and for weed control it's best just to plan to get what you get off a bit but it's gonna take a while but anyways we are super ahead of schedule corn is pretty much already Donna I will say when normally we're just starting or we shoot for me around May first I'm starting corn planting and we're like I'd say after today it might be close to half done with soybeans so we're just picking it away just hoping we don't get any stupid late Frost's or something that damages any soybeans is what I'm more so worried about corn can kind of take a frost but soybeans you could be replanting let's hope that don't happen so I'd hate to have to do all this work again in the same year turn it again most exciting thing that happens throughout the day turning at the end engage Auto steer lower planter once I my sections turn on because it's kind of an angle there then I shift up give me from five point seven to seven point one miles per hour getting after it just get that mellow yellow' any when you know what's really good if you have some orange juice and you put it inside this mellow yellow no vodka just orange juice wow that's amazing for breakfast try it you will be hooked so what I'm working on right now is planting the planter completely empty we're switching bean varieties so I got a jump out planter just around empty on the left side I got to get out dip out from each side to the other side to try to get it all evenly out of the planter as low as possible because we are gonna be planting a earlier maturity being so you don't want your light and your early mixed together it's just gonna cause a headache when you come to harvest when everything is an uneven or is uneven in the field so again it's really windy out so I apologize for the annoying [Music] Wow this side is super empty yeah that just wouldn't work very well [Music] that's not so much fun crawling in that pink kind of hurts so yes I got beans into this side and it's a lot fuller today that side then these other two tanks but all the Murrah units are planted empty so these most of these beans that are in that tank are gonna disappear immediately so we should be good now plants are empty go to the seed tender fill up and we're good for this this field little finish and I got a move filled again [Music] just some clean water in there to wash your hands up get all that poison off your hands fill a it's a ideal situation it's nice to be eating your sandwich poison on your finger so now I lower the planter to the ground once the planters on the ground it senses that and turns on the fan the tank fan so it pressurizes those three tanks and blow a seed to each individual row unit that's how Center fill planners work so now basically since that one tank was a little full it's blowing the beans out of there and that tank will probably be pretty much empty once it fills all the row units so by now it's got enough in there to probably plant so I raise it up I'm gonna rotate the disks filling the disks getting my vacuum back up so once I do that which I just did it spits beans out on the ground I lower the planter wherever up engage auto-steer and forward we go and we're planting again so like I said the left tank ran empty again first because all that seed filled those boxes up where the other box is on the right side of the planter we're already filled so it ran out but it's gonna be emptying up good enough to call a bus everything to train a third gun whatever I'm going to fill up that's what I'm doing yep time to load seed so time-lapse because it's so Indy [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you got to love these little township roads and them dang Larsen's parking their trucks on the road I've heard that from my neighbor but fortunately it wasn't a marker and I didn't hit the truck but I'm doing close as you can see my hand still fits in between I better get going stop messing around [Music] first time I've quit at dark all year long but I'm not planting this circle farm in the dark I'm going home too
