are so very very happy to have you all join us online we are excited this is like a unique thing right we're going to do a concert online and you get to join us and we know that more will be joining us online as the evening goes by but we're just excited for this opportunity very very thankful that we get to just be together in the lord the spirit of the lord is there in your house the spirit of the lord is here in this house and we're going to enter into the presence of the lord because tonight we have special guests that we are excited to introduce to you we have chris and stephanie t from nashville tennessee they've been friends of the church for a long time and i know that you will be very blessed and so at home and here we are gonna welcome so chris and stephanie are gonna come catch clapping amen good evening we're in a a place playing a show right now that's what in the world amazing we're so excited it's only been you know five months since i've done this and goodness are we excited we've got a few friends here with us that you don't even know what that means to us as as people who who love to do this and love to minister to anyone who will listen so and those of you tuning in wherever you're tuning in from we're so grateful that you're taking the time to join us this evening so we're gonna kick it off uh with some music the song is called i come alive as we go through the night we'll be sharing our story talking about what god did and is doing in our lives as we sing let's go [Music] jesus [Music] is faith takes hold when i finally [Music] take every blessing counting as lay down my life [Music] [Applause] [Music] when i lose myself [Music] he's [Music] is [Music] is takes hold when i finally let go [Music] jesus gave me yeah thank you i know you guys can't see them at home but they sound a lot bigger than they are they're very generous this next song is called truth and i told stephanie the other day every year that we sing this song it gets creepier and creepier because the message gets more and more true every year there's a lot of voices in the world and a lot of them are claiming to have the truth to know the truth that but we know that things are confusing right now and it's hard to know what the truth is sometimes but we know where we can go we know that we have a truth we have claim to it so this song um it's it's funkier than that intro it's got some stank on it um but let's get into it why not why don't you why don't we um why don't you introduce the band oh right so it's just the two of us but we're gonna try our hardest all night long to convince you that that's not the case we are gonna try um so everything that you hear tonight is coming from the two of us there is one song where we use a track but that will be obvious because it's just me playing the piano but other than that we have our band we have our drummer here good job drummer but see the drummer my drummer can play the drums backwards which real drummers can't do that right not that i know it so anyway here we go [Music] sometimes the guitarist gets himself in trouble the truth is under attack deceptive schemes seem so pristinely gleaned from news feeds and magazines just like imagine [Music] boys that's how some of you [Music] oh [Music] the world is [Music] [Music] said [Music] with hope and peace [Music] it will set you free [Music] so on this i told you that we don't have a band with us we also don't have any rappers um because on this track on our record our friend tony tillman he starts rapping right right there after the bridge um and it's so sad if you're at home right now say oh man i know right like if somebody if somebody knew the rap if only if only he had a little bit of encouragement maybe he might he might do it okay please calm down yeah this is no age of manipulation they're so clever i see wings but behind the scenes so devil they levitating while telling me that from low level you need to tell me that bands don't make me roll better okay that image got me shook like that empty my water and that product i get took like that wanna be fast peter pan cause i'm hooked like that get liposuction if the pants they got their own truth nerve of them it's so absurd to serve lies that serve nothing but you think truth is relative like my third it cousin [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you cannot have [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh thank you i should turn my head around now back to normal chris back to normal chris um so stephanie and i like we said we're just pumped to be here um we almost weren't here um and that's why we do what we do we tell our story everywhere we go whether it's four minutes or four hours on a podcast or just in conversation um we tell our story um because there's power in stories we all have a story if god's redeems your life you have a story and we're just being stewards of ours so our story starts a long long long long time ago in 2000 3. um we were we were in high school and uh we were on a mission trip um to philadelphia because i don't know because guatemala was two third world for us tennessee kids i guess um but we we fell in love when we were on the trip and i say that we didn't really fall in love when we were on the trip stephanie had a boyfriend at the time which was a bummer for me uh but you know some people just have more work to do some people have you know the lord has more work to do in their lives before they can be together and that was that was stephanie's story i'm kidding i'm kidding um so uh she broke up with her boyfriend obviously and we got together and we got married when we were in college and so we were we were leading worship um in all kinds of different capacities like we're on um on part-time staff you know doing um doing things with youth groups and we led for a college group that we were a part of and i even put on a headset microphone and like did dances in front of like a hundred fourth fifth and sixth graders gonna demonstrate yes i gotta turn my head around of course no no no i just really wish we had a video like and here it is we were like we were like this picture perfect couple from the outside like the people looking at us like when you're on stage and you lead worship and you speak with authority people just think oh they're fine they must be great their marriage is amazing and i think we thought that too but as we went through college and things came up i started seeing things online and reading articles and i was really into physics and astronomy and and i started hearing all these different voices i talked about those voices and i heard lies and i felt shame about it because because i would start doubting my faith and i would have all these questions but i didn't have a place to to ask them in confidence and and i started to split i'd have one persona on stage and then one persona off and then well the door was already cracked and the lord i was in college and you know there's things that people do in college sometimes that are very christian and i got into drugs and alcohol because the music industry is a very wholesome place as as we all know and i was going to school in the music industry so the devil got his his fingers in the door and pried it right open so so i just kept growing further and further apart it got to the point where i'm doubting my faith i'm out partying on saturday night and and waking up early sunday morning and going and leading people in worship to a god i didn't even believe in and when you've been that far apart within yourself for that long it just does violence to your soul and i started to believe another lie i started to believe a lie that if i wasn't married then i wouldn't feel this way you know i didn't i believed that lie thinking that if i could get rid of accountability or you know from from these what i perceived has changed then i would be free and so i sat stephanie down one night and i said uh hey real quick um i don't believe in god anymore and i don't want to be married anymore and the lie that got me there led me to a lawyer's office where i filed papers and i walked away from the church and stephanie and all the protection and blessing that god was trying to give me it took him all of five seconds for my life as i knew it to just be completely violently ripped out from under me and i tried so hard i tried so hard to control it boy i wrestled you know asking god where was he where was he in the middle of this i've done all the right things grew up in the church always trying to make the right decisions and yet here i was in a situation just completely devastated divorce was never never supposed to be a part of my story and no matter what i did no matter what i said i couldn't make him stay i couldn't make him believe in this god who had been so good to us that left me in a really really hard obviously hard place and this next song yeah we wrote it right putting you right in that moment and i think many of us many of you guys watching have been in a situation where you don't know what god's doing you don't know where he is you don't know what the point is gosh can we not all relate to that a little bit for the past few months but for me i just man i tried to do it in my own strength and i had some some learning to do so this song is called take this [Music] my walls are crumbling my heart is paper thin it feels like i'm paralyzed and i can't breathe he made a vow with me he swore he'd never leave now his heart's in your hands but [Music] cause right now it feels like fear i'm hanging on but if i'm on it i can't even feel you near so won't you come in take [Music] take this [Music] this wreckage can't be fixed they say move on but i feel like i'm bound here i thought i had his love why wasn't i enough [Music] tell [Music] this me [Music] won't you come here [Music] um a glimmer starts growing it might be worth hoping for see i've still been holding on to my life before maybe [Music] till i let it go [Music] trust brings through our fear and there's still pain but it's not wasted [Music] i say we're always here yeah so i left in now i'm free right now i've shaken off the chains and i'm just ready to be brave and go find a new path for myself the tragic thing is that when we are free to sin we are enslaved freedom to sin is slavery and that's right where i found myself i thought it was great for a while you know nobody'd sinned if it wasn't fun but it's empty right it's like it's like writing checks that you know we're gonna bounce and i got into new relationships i got into more drugs and alcohol and parties and everything i thought would make me okay and make me happy because that's what i wanted i wanted my own happiness and i was willing to do anything to get it i was sad about hurting people i didn't want to hurt anybody but at the end of the day it didn't matter because i wanted what i wanted and when those checks bounced i ended up and alone i i got into this relationship that went sour and it didn't implode it exploded my life apart god uses a lot of things to bring us to our knees and and i think i thank him that this is what did it i i was on my knees i was waking up in cold sweats i was battling anxiety because i've gotten to the end of myself i saw what happened when i took the reins when i took control it takes some people decades it takes some people their whole lives to figure that out but god in his mercy saw something greater for us and it was right there at the bottom when i was at my worst when i'd done everything wrong i'd pushed everybody away it was right there worse than i'd ever been that god was was waiting on me he was waiting on me to turn and repent and i didn't have anything else i'd used up all my favors sometimes we come to god when we're desperate and i think that's what he wants because he knew i didn't have anything else so i realized in that season that i'd used a lot of head knowledge all those doubts that i had earlier they were good questions are good doubts can be good it's like a bad word in the church but doubts can be used to fuel our faith if we lean into them and we engage them so i started being honest with god i started praying to him like david would pray in the psalms you know expressing all my hurt my disappointment and my doubts and you know what he just kept chasing after me it wasn't too much for him he could handle it and after weeks and even months of this i'm praying i'm i'm reading the word i'm feeling god speaking to me in this new fresh way like i'd never experienced i i was i was saved in high school but this was like a new indwelling or something that that happened in me and in that process i felt god whispering to me and at first it was soft and then it got louder and louder and louder and louder until i couldn't ignore it anymore and that whisper and that yell and that cry was telling me to pursue my ex-wife and i didn't get that same message at the same time unfortunately man that that year in both of our lives hardest thing hardest thing we've ever been through but gosh was it so necessary for what we learned about the father in his heart for us is for me i had i had lived this very planned um very black and white life you know bible belt tennessee growing up in the church but i don't think i'd ever fully let go and ask god and trusted him fully with everything the good the bad the valleys mountains all of it and so it was a year of god revealing that you know even though chris's sin it was outward everybody could see it i wasn't faultless you know i may have seen myself as the righteous one you know i was the victim but no god so gently showed me that i had sinned to it was just it was it was in my heart it's things like pride and self-righteousness and really just self just a lot of self so so as i'm learning painfully all these things and he's revealing to me his heart for me in new ways and i'm learning to find my identity in him just in being a daughter of the king not him being the good christian girl or or a wife but just a daughter and that that's enough of course at that point is when i heard from him again that's how it always works right um and he he had asked to get together to talk and i thought sure why not um and we ended up spending a couple of hours just walking the neighborhood i bought a new house didn't let them in not maliciously just it was my it was my new home and so we swapped stories of what god had done in our lives you know i'm telling him about uh i'd gone on a trip to africa with a bunch of strangers which was so unlike me at the time and he was telling me all that god had done he was confessing all the things that had happened and by the end of the conversation he shares well you know god's told me that we should be together again i'm thinking you know these two hours have been great and all but hold on i don't know i don't i to this day i don't remember exactly what my words were to you but i know that he was disappointed and it wasn't yes god wasn't done working on me yet he needed to learn the art of timing so in that in that moment in that season you know i i had forgiven him you know god had made it very clear that you know i had been forgiven that i was called to forgive him and i feel like i truly had but i trust that takes time and it should we tell anybody trust takes time it takes repeated actions so if anybody has has broken that trust in your life if they truly want it back they'll take the time to rebuild it so so we decided to take a few months and just really pursue what the lord had for us and also something that was so important we wanted to include our community you know we didn't do that before we didn't ask for help we didn't we didn't know what we didn't know you know and you know we didn't know that's a lot of you knows and and we knew that that that led us to where we where we were and so we wanted our pastors to know and be praying and our families and friends and and can do some counseling we did some christian counseling separately and then together which we are huge huge advocates for good christian counseling we go to the doctor when we're sick let's get some help in the other areas of our head too so after a few months of that we came together with our counselor and we're all in agreement that if we wanted to pursue this again uh that we should go for it so we did clearly uh and went on our our second first date we started over uh and then within a few months we were remarried in a small ceremony just our our family and so now we celebrate two anniversaries every year and we do we celebrate them big both every year we call we call it our anniversary and then our re-re-aversary anyway so uh this this next song is about it's about that redemption it's about how god works in such beautiful ways where he doesn't waste anything he doesn't waste our pain and our trials and that he can use brokenness to bring wholeness it's called make us whole every heartache every tear in every mistake every fear we [Music] you're not shaking you surrounding we will not forget what you've brought us through fire [Music] nothing is wasted [Music] [Music] you redeem all of us [Music] is [Music] gives us [Music] walking through fire through every triangle [Music] is [Music] trash can baby so our our band name out of the dust it comes from a story uh where it says if you look in genesis that god breathes life into the dust to create us who he calls us beloved and that's what he did he did that in our marriage our marriage was reduced to dust there was no life and yet his breath brought out something so much more full of life and beauty than we could have ever imagined that we could have ever done in our own strength something that we can say that only he can do so we can't take the credit for it and uh we also know we know that there are a lot of people a lot of hurting people i'm sure talking to some of you that you are desperate for your own redemption story it might be a marriage it might be job it might be finances it might be health and you just haven't seen that redemption yet but we are here to tell you that god hears you he sees you he doesn't waste anything and that he will redeem all things in his own time but we do live in a broken world and sin breaks things so we may not always see the redemption we hope for on this side of heaven but there's another side and god wins and for us as we walk through what we did as as as nice as it is to show you and see a nice little bow tie to the end of our story uh which by the way we still got to work at it every day marriage is hard but god is good but if if what god did in our hearts that year that we were apart if that was where it ended that would have been enough because jesus is enough jesus is enough his sacrifice for us on the cross his love for us is enough this next song is called now more than ever it was inspired by an instagram post of all things they say an artist finds inspiration everywhere well i guess instagram can do that too our friend posted a picture of his wedding ring and on the inside of his wedding ring was engraved now more than ever i'm kind of an existential guy and there was something just really profound about carving the word now into something that was permanent to remind you that right now the ring that he wears is always a reminder that the present moment is when he needs love and i think we could all agree the present moment the world needs some love can we say maybe a little bit um that sentiment is not just for married couples who wear wedding rings that cinnamon is true of all children of god who bear his name who can carve now more than ever into their hearts so yeah this is a love song we wrote it as a love song it was inspired by a wedding ring but we pray that it's a lot bigger than that because our call as christians is a lot bigger than that here it is [Music] [Applause] [Music] still [Applause] [Music] somehow keep using together [Music] now more [Music] whisper now more than ever still the mystery that heaven fights through hell to help us see there's more than you and [Music] you and me [Music] together [Music] now more than ever [Music] oh [Music] feelings will change [Music] now more than ever [Music] hmm [Music] looks like we made it look how far we've come my baby we might have took the long way we knew we'd get here someday they said they'll never make it but just [Music] still [Music] is [Music] looks like [Music] we are from nashville we got to get a little country in there just for a second a little rusty so we we really do love we love that we get to do this we love that music is the platform that god made clear that we would use to tell this story to tell not our story not not chris and stephanie's story but god's story of what he can do and uh we've always just kind of taken one step at a time never really knowing where our foot's gonna land but he always has been so faithful to put ground underneath just like right before we step down and um one of the things that we love so much about how he's called us to do this is that we really uh we love getting to know you and building relationships with the body of christ all over the country and so you know we're not we are independent artists we're not on a label there's nobody uh besides us doing this thing and just trust in the lord that he's gonna to bring this message to who needs to hear it so um you may not know this but if you're watching you just became our advocates wherever you are so congratulations we made a bunch of new friends that's right so we're actually gonna ask for your help because uh there's only so much that the two of us can do to spread this message and you guys are the ones that can get it out there so we are we're gonna encourage you to do this by giving away some cds and that's not just for our friends here in front of us but all of you guys out there watching as well we're gonna do a giveaway during this next song so two things you got homework that you have to do before the end of this next time driving you to do homework don't say brian anyway it's uh vibes are illegal this isn't illegal are they anyway so two things the first first thing is uh if you see the slide is to follow us on social media easy enough if you're on instagram or facebook you can find us there out of the dust music not because we need the likes it's not what it's about uh it's it's the fact that you know what maybe if you like a post that we're doing maybe a video that we've posted you never know which one of your friends are going to see that and how god's going to use it did you know that god can actually work through facebook did you know that we already know that amazing he works through instagram there you go so that's the first way second way is to sign up for our email list trust me we're not gonna send you a bunch of emails all the time we keep it very uh scarce as far as how many we send but that is just the easiest way for us to reach you to let you know when there's new stuff going on when we are able to uh tour again one day hopefully sooner rather than later but that's the second way you just sign up on our website out of the dustmusic.com you scroll down a little bit there's a box you just put in your email so at the end of this song we're gonna pull them up on our phone and see who won a free cd this next song is called so amazing and we because we're gonna sing i'm just gonna believe that you're singing at home we won't know we're gonna think the best of you all right so um so for all the all the fellas you know what how have we done this before i forgot oh repeat what you sing yeah okay so forget about me don't sing when i sing so i'm gonna sing what good does it do sorry i was drinking water oh it's okay i was in the wrong key anyway [Music] [Applause] [Music] i told you i'm rusty i can't believe we've remembered the majority of the words tonight to be honest anyway um so yeah let's do that one more time all right [Music] they'll catch on and then it changes and we don't want you to feel dumb it's going to change just just go with it it's okay no judgment no judgment here love's easy to say when we think the same way sounds familiar it's harder to choose when we can't even agree what's true labels identities and opinions too everyone's gotta pick aside retention tension is [Music] well i've been a fool and i think i need a breakthrough yeah i finally see that's my brother staring back at me oh father forgive [Music] [Applause] [Music] what good [Music] what good does it do [Music] sinners even do what you do [Music] i'll give you a pass if you haven't yet maybe you can just get some claps in here in a minute [Music] black and white [Music] black and [Music] [Music] we're not just good or [Music] what good does it do [Music] what good does it do [Music] enemies [Applause] thanks we sure miss you guys okay so we've told our story tonight and i just want to tell you a few of some other people's stories very quickly um there was a woman who was on the floor of a room in her house packing up to leave her husband and in desperation she took a break and opened up her phone and and she saw our story she saw a video and she reached out to us and in a moment of we normally just encourage people and pray with them and for them but in a moment of spirit led i just i kind of went pastoral on her and walked her through a series of letters through a process of hope to say you don't you don't have to do this and of course i ask lots of questions but she ended up staying with her husband and asking for help there's another couple in south carolina and and we played a show there and after the show i just heard someone say hey you should go talk to the heartlers they i think they were really impacted by your story and i talked to him he said yeah we got divorced i'd left her it had been three years i don't know how but i saw a video of your story and i thought to myself you know what if if god could redeem their marriage maybe he could redeem mine and he was standing with his wife his remarried wife there's another there's another friend of ours in arkansas and her husband left her and she was devastated just like stephanie was and stephanie in her very pastoral spirit she she walked with this girl through this season and her husband didn't come back but today she tells her story and we get to be a part of her restoration because god restores all not just when he reconciles what we want him to he reconciles even when the things that we want to happen don't and i tell you all of that to tell you that if you've been impacted by our story out there in here it's not because of anything we could have done it's it's because of what god did in our life because we tell our story and i can't tell you how many times when we do this people will will come up to us after the show and say no matter what just keep telling your story no matter what keep telling your story hey chris and death that was so great keep telling your story and honestly i'm kind of like what about the music but anyway um just kidding um but but we we want to tell our story we want to continue telling this story and if it's done something in you we have a group of people who who allow us to continue telling our story because doing this ain't free and people who believe in what we do they keep sending us out and that group of people is called our patrons they are called our patrons and uh we have a slide behind me i don't know if you can see it at home um we have a a page a website called patreon.com it's not our website but it's it's a way for you to support our ministry if you feel god telling you hey more people need to hear stories like this i was impacted by this i know someone who needs to hear this if you know someone who needs to hear it tell them you don't have to join our patrons to tell them but this is a way for people who really want to get behind the message of what we bring to others and you become a patron and essentially what you do is it's a it's a monthly gift and you get rewards and ultimately we've had people donating to our ministry hundreds of people across the country for years and we decided that we wanted to just stop taking people's money and build relationships with them so that's what this means to us it means that we get to build a relationship with you and you get to get something in return for supporting our ministry yeah and it's super easy i mean it starts at three dollars a month uh three dollars a month the the reward you instantly get like all of our music you can stream all of our music we've ever written even stuff we haven't released and you you're part of this community we share what we're working on we share we get votes on uh just anything we're doing a live co-write with our patrons we are we reached our first goal so we're gonna have a hundred of our patrons join us for like a live songwriting session so we we love that community over there if you want to be a part or just check it out just uh out of the dust patreon.com but as we continue we start winding down tonight we always want to take a moment in every show every concert and and as much fun as this is the the outward we really want to focus upward and invite you to sing and worship along with us to worship this god that we've been talking about all night this god who is the god of redemption this god who has been so faithful so faithful in our lives and in the lives of of his children with all of us so we we would love to just sing this old hymn with you uh great is that faithfulness so we'll have the words i would love for you to sing and worship just close your eyes if you're at home it feels awkward it's okay just let these words wash over you tonight as we're reminded of his faithfulness in the midst of such chaos in our world great is thy faithfulness oh god my father there is no shadow [Music] in their courses [Music] to thy great faithfulness [Music] morning my morning new mercy [Music] thine own dear presence to cheer into god [Music] [Applause] blessings online [Music] faithfulness [Music] mercies [Music] is [Music] amen before we end the night with one more song would you buy your heads and pray with me pray over you at home god thank you for this night thank you for all of our stories god as we're listening there's no telling where people are at just statistically knowing what i know about the world right now and even if things weren't crazy god people need you and for those of us who can celebrate your goodness god we celebrate and it's our job to lament and pray with and for those who are in the trenches god so i pray that you would comfort them and i pray that you would surround them that you would send your hope into their hearts to see the light god because there is hope you can do miracles you're still in the business of redemption you've always been in the redemption in the business of restoration even so god i pray that you would comfort them and i pray that you would hear the praises of those who can stand and celebrate and that you would encourage us to tell that story it's in your son's name we pray amen amen all right well this is our last one for you tonight uh again thank you so much for for spending the evening with us we just feel so honored that that you would take the time to do that with us so uh if you want to talk to us we would love love to talk to you obviously our story has has a lot more components to it that we can't go into detail with so if you have a question for us if you want us to pray for you uh any way that we can be encouraging you just find us either our website out of the dust music dot com or the easiest thing honestly if with this last one this is a song that we wrote after coming back from kenya we spent a couple weeks at an orphanage there with a couple hundred kids and you know when you do something like that you just you don't want your life to look the same when you get back and it was definitely the case for us and so this this song is that that prayer that that we wouldn't just live day to day the in and out that we were doing before that we we know and we want to fully live in what god created us to be what he's called us to do and that we are his children his ambassadors on this earth and you are as well so this is our prayer for you as well this night as we close so thank you again so much uh reach out to us anytime this is all that i'm made for life is more than simply chasing after things i think i need it's not about me it's not about me it's not about me every day i slave and search for what will make me be okay there's only one thing there's only one thing there's only one thing [Music] you can make me so much more more just [Music] all that i am made for my eyes are finally white you've opened them to see my foolish pride it was all about me all about all about me oh i give my life away and fall upon your mercy and your grace [Music] oh [Music] resist this world [Music] [Applause] [Music] you can take me so much [Music] oh all that i am made for i i love that story because it's such a powerful story of redemption and i know that there are a lot of people that are watching right now that have their own story and i i just want to tell you that if god has done a work of redemption you have a ministry people are blessed to see what god is doing in restoring and redeeming and i i tell you this also if you're maybe in the middle of your story and you're still waiting for for god to to to bring a breakthrough i want to pray for you that you would patiently and with great perseverance trust that god is the redeemer of your story and i also want to say this
