Cast Netting 1000’s of fish!!! {How To Castnet}

what kind of fish do you think we're gonna catch i'm gonna guess gar that's a gar gar another gar gar big old gar and gar here's the big question y'all i'm gonna hop in the water and hopefully it's not too deep don't get eaten by an alligator okay so what's up happy people i'm robert herrington this is deer meat for dinner and we are getting ready to go have a great day i've got my family my wife my kids my cameraman and one of my really good friends jake hiles from virginia beach might remember him we fished together about a month ago up there had a great time filmed a whole series so i had him and his lovely bride miss kelly and their daughter emma they came down we're having a great time so what we're gonna do right now we're gonna go back on the ranch we're gonna use our cast net and try to catch all kinds of fish put them in a bait well and then transport them to the clear pond because right now we're trying to stock it with wild fish from right here on the ranch let's roll earlier this year we cleaned out all this area now the hogs and the deer they use it so much when the acorns are dropping [Music] all right you guys so we are here now this is what we're gonna do we have a pond that i call the clear pond i've got all kinds of structures and habitat for the fish so we're going to try to cast net a bunch of them here because the girls love it they love to see me throw the cast in it and then they pick out the fish put them in the well we're gonna have so much fun in your riding shotgun [Music] if you're chumming up fish in little local ponds like this bread works amazingly well i'm gonna show you some tricks if you get your your bread wet like that then you can you can skip it out there and if you see it'll break up into little particles and then the fish can start eating it real well [Music] oh i thought that was going on jake's head hang on girls [Music] come on keep going you're fine keep going keep going oh right there this is bernie's concierge service all right now the question is what kind of fish do you think we're gonna catch i'm gonna guess gar [Applause] gar gar and gar and maybe a bow fin i've never thrown off the front of a uh swamp buggy before but hey first time for everything oh you got so many guar it's unbelievable but how did you like the cast that was a great throw off the front of the buggy that was a great throw made it just clear of the edge of the of the grass there oh yeah i can see the guards rolling in it looks like it's deep out there it is a lot deeper than i thought i feel something in here oh yeah oh look at all the bluegills back up are you we got a million bluegills in here are you kidding me look at all the bluegills look at that big old whopper bluegills i didn't that's a catfish oh my gosh you're back up i'm going to set it right where you are there dude is this awesome or what if i can get my foot over okay let's see what all we got we got a pleco we got bass catfish whoa all our fish are getting away oh yeah that's a gar got some bass that's an armored catfish we don't want him to get out there look at this that's a gigantic bluegill two big bluegills put them in there more bluegills let's see what else is in the bucket oh my gosh [Music] start here start getting the fish are you put them in here throw them in them you're not scared of the fish you're just crazy so i was dead wrong we only caught like two guards in that whole net we had like 20 bluegill all kinds of little weird catfish check this out that's an aquarium fish yeah so see this girls that's called a pleco a picasso most they're very hard and they go yeah you can feel them emma do you want to feel them feel his mouth if you go backwards on them i was just kidding listen was that a shock or what i want to even show you this we even caught a crappie that was the biggest shock too a white crappie to be exact question for y'all were you impressed with that i can't believe we caught that many [Music] let me show you a trick to throw in a cast net a you need to load it properly and if it has tangles it'll never open so make sure your area where you're throwing the net is clean you don't have stuff that's gonna hang it up and then load it everybody loads the net differently this is how i load it i want about half and half just like that now i only have a very little area to throw from so i'm trying to brace myself what do you think girls you ready here we go y'all want those leads to go all the way down to the bottom and then this is called your your pull string and you you tuck it along and it it works the leads up and creates a pocket what do we have what do we have oh more of everything a gigantic gar bluegills catfish goodness look at all the fish a lot of times i can pick the net up like this and sort of get them all down low okay watch out girls good job mr jake look at that i am really impressed with how many fish are in this little pond these are what we're after right here these are bluegill these are native fish and we want them to reproduce that's what tabassi look at that that's a gar another gar big old gar how fun is this and you may be wondering why would you do this a pond like this is really easy for like cormorants and wading birds to really pick it clean so we're going to take them and take them over to the clear pond where we have a feeder and tons of habitat that's going to create a really good living environment and then they're in a centralized location ready y'all [Music] oh you got in there your big old tilapia looks like more more brim i got a big tilapia is that a big tilapia yep yep that's what it is so awesome came out here caught all those fish got to spend some time with the girls with jake austin it's been really cool so in three casts we caught about 50 fish now we're gonna go over the clear pond take a look and turn them loose let them find their new home there's just something really awesome about coming out to the ranch with my girls with my friends doing stuff like this is it mandatory do we have to do this no do i want to yes it's fun it's something that connects me and my family if you see that gator laying on that rotten vegetation it's because he's trying to warm up that rotten vegetation is actually creating warmth underneath him and then he's getting the last little bit of sun rays in the in the afternoon sun but he's also extremely camouflaged so he's doing two things at once he's warming up and he's hunting if any small predator or any small mammal came cruising along or a turtle or a bird gobble him right up look at this see this big old bluegill find yourself a new home okay hold on one second sweetheart hold on one second there's one other oh this right here now believe it or not crappie are actually really hard to keep alive so hopefully he makes it oh don't get eaten by bass [Music] aria guess what time it is time for you to catch a big old fish see how i've got the line held with my finger you hold it back like this and you throw it out there just like that now it's all you now don't move it until you get one [Music] oh get ready get ready [Music] there you go son there you go that's a largemouth old florida big mouth bass is that the first one of those you ever caught okay now there's a reason why i do this when you have an isolated pawn like that you have all the genetics inside this pond they never get out you never get new blood but when you go to other ponds whoops when you go to other ponds and get new fish then you're bringing in new genetics and it really causes your fish population to do well and thrive there you go that's enough in that bucket that's a little bass well come here buddy there you go you have no idea how good you've got it he just fell into heaven oh yeah nice big old tilapia [Music] [Applause] okay this is a way you create real memories with your children doing cool stuff like this and you know what you could take a piece of bread and a cane pole and go to a city park and catch fish like this living life y'all living life [Music] yesterday we all had so much fun out on the ranch throwing a cast net jake kelly emma my whole family my girls there's aubrey and his family there's mom and dad over there here comes sarah she's over there and uh we had so much fun doing that and then today is thanksgiving we would we're just so thankful for all of y'all aubry why don't you say the blessing dear father we pray to you this afternoon and we are grateful for our blessings we're grateful for the freedoms that we have and the liberties we are thankful for this food lord we know um so many people are are less fortunate lord we pray for them we pray that we would be an encouragement to the people around us thank you for being propped up and gabe propped up and then our we may have had a poor grandpa but he was a great great great great great grandpa now no negative mom's dad was poured in dirt and honest to god we all go like mom and dad are poor as dirt so we just so happen to figure out what the word work means and dedication and getting after it and when you work hard and you're dedicated you don't you don't take the easy road you take the hard road and you dig it out then you can be thankful for what you have which is where we are thankful for what we have and i'm thankful for you i pray to god that you
