welcome everyone to today's lunch forum I am Katrin Thurmond policy fellow at center of the American experiment it is my great pleasure to introduce Candace Owens today Candace has a background in executive training and worked at a private equity firm in Manhattan before exploding into the political world summer of 2017 gaining notoriety through her political vlog series on YouTube after Kanye West tweeted out support for Candace on Twitter miss Owens profile has attracted national attention she is currently the director of urban engagement for Turning Point USA and a contributing writer for The Federalist please help me welcome Candace Owens to Minnesota where for the record we have loved the way she thinks long before Kanye West did [Applause] three oh my god really amazing [Applause] so sweet can you guys hear me okay if I walk away from this you guys can hear me this is good can you hear me from here or is it better if I'm closer to this can you guys hear me no you can't okay somebody in the back can you hear me now ish yep okay you can hear me here now hello you okay okay good great awesome foremost thank you guys so much this is actually my first time in Minnesota and I mean what a beautiful welcome it is I will not forget this place soon it has been a very interesting couple of weeks and thinking that was the greatest intro by the way apparently the way I think is extremely controversial I mean this was a seven word tweet and its nine syllables and it completely broke the internet so I just wanted to tell you guys and there have been a lot of articles about me I'm sure you've seen them I'm reading every day to find out more and more about myself this morning I found out that I was the consiglio in The Daily Beast I read yesterday that I was all right adjacent and I don't know exactly where that is on the map I don't even know what alt writes even is so alt right - Jason just sounds like geometrical I have read that I am a KKK sympathizer which is really interesting and I have read that I am a white supremacist which is fascinating it's amazing so I now have myself on Google Alerts because I really would like to know more about myself and the journalists seem to be out to get me and they are just really piling it on so what is the truth about the way Candace Owens thinks what is my story nobody has of course none of these journalists reached out for comments because these are no longer journalists these are hitmen their job is to when they see something catching fire is to make sure that they kill it before anybody else gets the idea that this person might be telling the truth I've also by the way my favorite thing was reading that I was a rich girl from Connecticut if I am rich please let my parents know if that would be a very interesting versus the way that I actually grew up for the truth is that yes I was raised in Connecticut I was raised in Stamford Connecticut and my family is not not was most of my family wasn't on welfare they currently are on welfare Mike I come from a background where I grew up seeing my uncle's in prison and I grew up with a broken family a very typical I would say black American story so they are trying to silence that because on paper the way that they built me and the way that the things that I have lived through I should be a Democrat and I am NOT a Democrat what I like to say about the black community in general is that if you show me a black person I can show you someone that is a conservative and just doesn't know it the truth is that there has been a system built to make us think that were liberals and Democrats and I certainly fell victim to it myself my entire life I thought that I must be a liberal and I must be a Democrat because that's what I learned growing up and there are really three verticals that I've been able to define which contribute to this mentality the first vertical is your family well you think about where you get your ideas from it is of course your family they are the first people that are telling you mom and dad are saying yes or no this is good this is bad sit down don't jump up on the table well if the left has done is that they've broken down the black family okay they did this in the 1960s via president LBJ and his Great Society act they created the the welfare system the welfare programs which you guys don't know this incentivize a black woman not to marry the father of their children the government says I will give you a bigger check if you don't marry him which is quite interesting so over time if you guys didn't know this as well the single motherhood rate in the black community has jumped 72 percent since the 1960s which is abhorrent it's it's it's terrifying to think that the majority and all of my cousin's grow up without their fathers in the home and if you want to disrupt an individual the first thing that you have to do is disrupt that first vertical which is family the second vertical that I was able to identify was what happens when when black children are growing up without a family unit when what happens if you grow up and you don't have your mom and your dad in the house to tell you what's right and what's wrong you start to look to culture culture in the media to tell you yes or no what's right and what's wrong and that is where and that is why every few years you see that leftists and Democrats put up jay-z and Beyonce at every election cycle they're throwing concerts because they have understood that we begin to idolize these people we begin to idolize the music and we say okay well if Beyonce says I'm with her and of course I must be with her too that is the thought process the rappers and and the singers become mom and dad which is a huge problem and something that I understood had to be disrupted you guys want to know why a seven word tweet broke the internet it's because culture and politics were not supposed to mix in this way especially when we're talking about with conservative ideas the third vertical is of course education mom and dad send you to school and you spend most of your time with your teachers and I just was talking to this table over here was telling me that you know as conservatives in high school they're getting into a lot of trouble they're not allowed to have these ideas because as we know the Democrats have pretty much locked down the education system and I see this every single day at Turning Point USA and for those of you guys that don't know this what is going on right now at college campuses starting in high school it's scary it's it's not normal I thought that Charlie was being dramatic when he said I have to start these turning-point chapters to get conservative ideas on campus because when I was in school we didn't have people that were this violent they're willing to be violent if you don't agree with their ideas they're willing to be violent if you don't think that there are three thousand genders that you can choose from every single day I went to Colorado State University a couple of weeks ago and I was sitting in a chair with some turningpoint members who had just gone through a cycle of having a student group that was called students against white supremacy announced in front of the entire school with the president of the school there that they were white supremacists these students advocate for capitalism okay that is now the definition of white supremacy so I said well let me go on campus and sit in a chair and ask people to come up to me sort of steven crowder style and changed my mind and I simply sat in the chair and behind me it said socialism sucks capitalism is cool and you wouldn't believe what happened I mean I had girls that were coming into my face shouting at me all white girls by the way they always have blue hair I don't what it is but if you see a child with blue hair you run the other way on campus okay hey there's one thing I walk away with blue and pink hair and and she comes and she screams at me and she says you are a white supremacist and I said okay what gave me away and she she says well you're sitting here selling this jargon and of course she's cursing and she's saying and I said what jargon and am i selling and she says so she she says capitalism that is white supremacy that's a really scary place to be when capitalism and free markets are being considered white supremacy on campus not only because she's saying it because she has professors that are backing her up these students actually believe that socialism is the answer they can't tell you why there are people fleeing from Venezuela to get to America it makes absolutely no sense but this is what you're sending your children to when you send them to these universities is that there are children that have the right and the freedom to yell at them to physically accost them in some in some circumstances because they think that they should have the right to build businesses on their own and when I understood this my aha moment people say Candace what turns you into conservatism I always say that I wasn't exactly a liberal I never had blue hair okay I never had pink hair I was never shouting at people that talked about capitalism but I did believe that because I was black I must be a Democrat growing up and I wasn't really paying attention to politics which i think is the number one problem facing the black community is that when you're able to burn in any group of individuals with so many problems okay when you're a single mother the last thing you care about is politics you don't really under you don't really correlate the fact that all the issues that you're having as a single mother can be related to political policies you're just thinking how am I going to feed all of these mouths in my home so I looked up well well Donald Trump was running for the president of the United States and when it came down the escalator I said in my head as the sleepy liberal I'd like to refer to myself oh no oh no this guy cannot be the President of the United States there's absolutely no way but that was it I I said now I will undo the president and then what happened afterwards was amazing because while I didn't think that he should be the president United States the next day all of a sudden this guy who everybody loved was being called literally Hitler you know a KKK sympathizer a racist a sexist a misogynist at one point they called him a rapist I mean they threw everything at him and I said wait a second this isn't right perhaps racism is being used as a theme to turn black people into single issue voters every single day I'm a television we saw black lives matter of protestors by the way has anybody seen black lives matter on CNN since the election ended I have and I can't find them because guess what once he lectures over they no longer need to use black people like mules to bring them votes and that's exactly what's going on so I said to myself thank you so I said to myself the black community needs to understand this perspective the black community needs to understand that nobody thinks that your lives matter they think that your votes matter okay so every four years and every time every every midterm election cycle we're going to see these race issues drummed up to make sure that you vote according to how they want you to vote and then afterwards of course nobody wants to talk to you anymore I say all the time but if if black lives matter then you're gonna have to explain to me why people are okay with Planned Parenthood which murders eighty eight hundred black babies every single day so I quit my job I don't advise everyone to do this instantly and I said I'm gonna start making videos on YouTube and I called some people close to me and they said Candace you're crazy you have this nice job you work for private equity why would you do this but I felt this passion burning in my heart I said everything that I turned on it was just black people pretending that this narrative was real we had people like jay-z and beyonce jay-z who hasn't made his money off of the black struggle endorsing Hillary Clinton who is married to a former president who put more black men in prison than any president in the history of the United States President Bill Clinton did that how is it possible so I quit my job and I and I make a video and it goes kind of viral it was called many you guys may have seen it was called mom dad I'm a conservative and I didn't really say anything in the video other than I'm a conservative and it was sort of a satirical stab how it's harder to come out as a conservative and it is to come out as gay or a lesbian in this society which is a little crazy being a conservative is a little bit like being gay in the 80s and the reaction was exactly what I would expect I was called an Uncle Tom I was called a I was called a bed wench which I didn't even know what that meant I had to actually look it up because it sounded a little comfortable too if I'm being ompletely honest and then I looked up and I said oh no that is that is not nice that is that is the slave that sleeps with the master and I said wow I better keep going here my third video that I made was after Donald Trump won and the charlottesville attacks happened and my cousin was sitting in my living room and she turned on CNN and she can then quite literally when this was going on was trying to play the game where they were trying to say to everybody well because you didn't listen to us because we told you that you should not elect Donald Trump we're gonna show you that everything that we said about him is real so charlottesville happens and CNN is trying to sell to me as a black woman that the KKK is alive and well and I said okay alright that's about enough I think I think this is getting a little ridiculous so I stopped with the skits and I opened my laptop and I ranted for four minutes about how ridiculous it is that they were trying to make me believe that I live in the 1940s and I can't walk out my door because somebody in a white hood on a horseback is gonna come up to me and try to shoot into my shoot into my living room and I was insulted I mean I was angry and I was frustrated but I was also insulted because I was raised on my grandfather and the KKK was real okay the KKK was real when my grandfather was growing up in Fayetteville North Carolina the KKK was actually a threat then so to use the KKK to sort of spin this narrative is actually insulting so black people that lived through that time to pretend I'm sitting here on my MacBook laptop I've got an Instagram account I couldn't be more privileged in as a black American as an American period II couldn't be living in a more privileged time and yet CNN is trying to sell me my own oppression so I shoot this video and I basically say am I the only person that you know relies on their own experience to dictate what might be going on in the world am I the only person that can get up in the morning and go to Starbucks and and a white person makes me my latte and they say have a nice day and then I go to the gym and I've got a Spanish guy he hands me my towel and and he says have a nice day I'm living in a pretty okay place until I turn on CNN right what happened next was really fascinating so I turned off my laptop and I took a nap because naps are amazing everyone should nap after they do anything and the next thing I know this video goes viral and I'm not talking a little viral I'm talking within 12 hours it had 20 million views within the next week it had 80 million views and these views were not just in America this video was dubbed in Portuguese this video was dubbed in Spanish and this video was dubbed in French and it startled me because I understood that something was happening and I thought that I was tapping at the doors of an American sentiment I thought that I was realizing that all of us in America were being duped by our media but you guys have to understand this is a worldwide sentiment people are starting to wake up and realize that something's just not right the things that they are telling us the media is no longer trying to tell us anything they're trying to sell us something and I said oh my gosh we might really have something here and I would say that was really the turning point in my life I was uninvited this was in October I was invited to do the roofing report do you guys know Dave Rubin is some of you guys do and we do this long-form interview and I sort of say to him like look I don't really know if I would say today that I'm a Republican but yeah my ideas are conservative and I'm comfortable talking about that at the end of the interview he says he does this thing where he does questions and answers and people can write online and they can live ask me questions and they said Candace you know who are you a fan of who do you idolize and I say I wish I had the clip here because he's this dated October actually August is when we shot it I said the only person that I liked and I wouldn't even say that I'm a fan is Kanye West and he says Kanye West why would you say Kanye West I said well you know if you listen to his music if there's one thing I can tell you about Kanye West is that he says that you're never a fan of Kanye West you're a fan of yourself it means that you believe in yourself if you ever look to Kanye West and say I'm a fan of his you believe that you can do something great in the world if you're a fan of Kanye West and I said in all of his music all he ever advocates for us individualism he wants people to understand that you don't assign yourself to the collective being an individual in Dave sort of looks at me like I'm crazy and he says all right all right Kanye West End's as we know fast forward seven months later and this amazing thing that was never supposed to happen happens Kanye West and I can tell you where I was I was I was laying in bed napping everybody should nap by the way napping is excellent and I get a text message from somebody in London and it's a screenshot of a tweet and it's from Kanye West and it says I love the way Candace Owens think so I think the guy's pranking me because it's like the one person that I've said something about and I don't understand but I instantly get this like surge of electricity and I I try to get to Twitter to check to see if it's real and my hands are shaking obvi I can't get to the Twitter account because my hands are shaking and I go and I check Kanye's account and there it is it's actually says I love the way Candace Owens thinks so I did the next best thing to napping I cried hysterically by the way I never cry I never ever cry and I was I just started crying hysterically because I think I immediately understood what was gonna happen here and I called Charlie Kirk who you guys might know obviously my boss Turning Point USA and I'm crying and he's like you know and he doesn't pick up and I literally text him you have to call me right now charlie and he calls me back and I start crying hysterically and he thinks my entire family has been assassinated because I can't get out the words he's like what's wrong what's wrong and he's like what's going on oh my god I can't get the words out and I finally say to him Kanye West just tweeted me he goes on and he just goes oh my god something just happened here I don't think people understand how significant this tweet is and why it's so important and and why conservatives and Republicans we seem to have been losing in the past is because the left has had a stranglehold on culture okay Kanye West is married to Kim Kardashian you might not like Kim Kardashian you might not believe in what she sells but this is a woman that can go on the internet and say I like this chapstick and it's it sells out in three minutes okay literally this woman has a tremendous amount of power and it's not just her she has this entire family of Kardashian's and the richest one is actually the youngest Kylie Jenner who literally sells lip kits in a matter of minutes she can make them sell out worldwide the left understood this model the left understood something that Andrew Breitbart said a long time ago which was that politics is really downstream from culture the person that controls culture really does control politics and they never remember was never meant to look at conservative politics they made sure that they had a stranglehold on that so we understood what we had there and then subsequently the internet broke I had no idea it was going to be an international news story within a couple of hours and then something else amazing happens and he sends me an email and he says that he would like to meet in person as some of you guys were asking me what happened but I haven't spoken about at length but what happened was was really amazing he is suddenly starting to understand that he's not allowed to be an individual in the world that he can't be Kanye West and that's the one thing as I said in his music that has been detailed but he has never been okay with and he cares passionately he always says I got the feelings but Candice got the facts he doesn't exactly know you know a lot about politics in the same way that I didn't know a lot about politics when I had this tremendous feeling that something was really gone amiss in the black community but he does understand that because he sent this tweet within a couple of hours they were running headlines saying that he needs to be hospitalized for a mental disorder in which is which is really crazy that they were willing to say that he was having a bipolar episode which is what some people were running because hero I love the way Candice Owens thinks didn't even specify what he likes about what I think I think a lot of things he followed my Twitter feed I think chick-fil-a should sell their chicken sandwiches beyond noon and their best chicken biscuits didn't even have to specify what it was that he enjoyed about what I thought and they were willing to condemn him to a hospital ward what does that really say about the culture of the left what does that really say and it's what I've been saying all along is that you are not allowed to be an individual you are not allowed to think your own thoughts especially if you are a black American especially if you are a black American because 93 percent of us have been voting for a party that has destroyed our communities that actively seeks to destroy our communities the opportunity that we have here not just as black Americans but as Americans is something that I think we have never had in this country we have an opportunity to unite honestly it sounds it like it's left or right and it's Republican it's Democrat but at the end of the day if we can start having these conversations and if you're brave enough to go look into the comment sections of my Instagram post of my facebook posts is people are fighting but they're also starting to think they're starting to understand and they don't have to be a model if you don't have to think a certain way because you're a lesbian or because you're gay or because you're white with blond hair or because you're black you're allowed to actually think your own thoughts irregardless of any of that and that's what people are starting to understand they're starting to research the facts and to form their own opinions so I say people all the time but I always wanted to do was launch an ideological civil war in the black community I wanted people to fight I wanted them to debate I wanted them to say you know I'm not a victim because I'm not a victim I've lived through a lot of things so I'm sure many people sitting here everybody lives through something this is life you know you got to toughen up and when people are able to strap you to the existence of being a victim when people sell you that being a victim is a brand that is cool they can control you and that's what we see happening in so many different communities it's you can be gay and not be a victim you can be black and not be a victim what we're seeing spreading like wildfire is a Victoire mentality the idea that you can overcome anything that you've lived through that you can overcome what I've lived through that I can overcome being in a small apartment with my siblings that had roaches being visiting my uncle's in prison living through what was classified as a hate crime when I was in high school that can overcome all of that and stand on this stage in front of 550 people and talk about all the things that I want to accomplish to give up my past because I believe in my future that that is the American dream for people that forgot what that was about that is the American dream that you could come from a different country and speak a different language and have nothing but the clothes on your back and you could become a billionaire and that is something that we have given up to the government that the government got bigger and the individual got smaller that really is the dangerous thing that Candis Owens thinks that it seems that I've broken the internet and I want to get to some questions but thank you guys so much for having me we have time for a couple questions so please raise your hands and Peter will bring a mic around for you to identify yourself followed by your question hi I'm grace Clawson and I go to Providence Academy and I'm looking to start a conservative social media platform in the future what advice do you have to me into anyone else trying to do something similar sort of conservative platform first first and foremost I would say be ready for the attack obviously I mean there it's tremendously hard and what we're trying to do now at Turning Point is to sort of like I said we're for uni we're trying to sort of bridge the gap we're actually starting to have conversations with people that would otherwise not agree with us because it's it's an uphill battle for conservatives to do anything but the best thing that you can do is make contacts make strong contacts with other conservatives there are people sitting in this room that can help you I can guarantee you like that was the first thing that I did when I started making YouTube videos is I shook every hand I took every picture and I took every card because it takes one person that can change your life but if you have the heart and you have the willingness to do it you're gonna make it I mean that's really what it comes down to and that's incredible I'm really happy that you're excited to do that get me involved who was that oh hi I didn't really have Gary hire hi I just want you to know that I just live streamed this and my account on Twitter was locked yeah I know Wow there it is that is insane Wow what was it locked for we're just not in nowhere so I'm wondering just in terms of tribalism because I think tribalism is probably the single largest cause of suffering that we have that people are attached to what does my mom think what does my dad think what a society thing what is my co-workers think and all that looking out at a predominantly white audience here you know we we I'm not speaking for all white people but you know we have a sense of tribalism and our identity and you know looking at it in US versus them right that that is a complete illusion and I'm just wondering what your thoughts on that and how you have circumvented this need for approval and that kind of thing and how are you bringing the tribes together to be the in the tribe of the living rather than you know identifying with the writer left or looking at justice and yeah so there's two parts shows to be honest with you I get this question all the time one other thing I just want to know what you think about cueing on as well - if you get add you could actually probably add more color on that that I can I don't I don't know too much about cueing on but I always get tweets and they've been super supportive I don't know too much about them but to answer your first question I get this question all the time of like how I was able to sort of transcend tribalism and I have to be honest a little bit is the way I was born I've always been this childlike the child that you just did not want to happen in terms of just everything was a fight with me I was you know videos of me as a child like like I don't know why my parents weren't just all right by I'm I was it was really hell bent on maintaining my own sense of identity I hated people telling me what to do without reason I always had to have this like debate so parents usually with the four-year-old you can get away with like you know cleaning your room or else Santos you know not gonna come me did not work I was like impervious to Santa or it's just like nothing worked you know and I was always trying to hold on to its just like ask me to clean my room tell me why you know you want me to clean it but don't trick me into cleaning my room so I I was definitely born with that and I held on to that all through high school was a nightmare for my teachers I have teachers now that say to me like it was definitely gonna be you if it was gonna be someone because it was the same thing like especially in school I talk about indoctrination the questions would read like and I was you know I was an AP classes I was good at school I just didn't care about school but the questions would read why did the United States have to drop the bomb in Hiroshima and I would reply like you know this is begging the question this is a fallacy like ask me if they had to drop the bomb in Hiroshima tell me they had to and make me find the answer so I just am programmed I guess I'm not able to be programmed in that regard but in terms of people that are are are the people that fear the backwash or their co-workers and their friends I think it starts with the tipping point now that I exist it sort of makes it okay for everybody else right so if you see and and that sort of is like the effect that we're seeing happen the domino effect we're seeing all these people that are jumping up on YouTube and saying like you know what I haven't really agreed to all of this and now I feel like I can have a voice because you know Candace is on it or Brandon Tatum is on it or you know there's young CJ Pearson is doing it so it does what we're selling here is individualism and I think because I'm doing it everyone else feels like it's okay and that's like the greatest feeling in the entire world to know that that's what we're inspiring but yeah I was a terrible child really I'm not Jennifer story yard and I just can you just give a couple like statements that I can give to my adult children who've run into the white bias so shaming the implicit bias all these buzzwords that they got from liberals oh my god liberals and their label makers like I don't even like I mean like they definitely run around and like a label every there are words I haven't even heard of like it's like they have a new one every single day so one thing I've gotten which has been really positive feedback is when they share my videos it's kind of shatters white liberal worlds because what I always say to them is like when you use these words what I don't like about that is you're assuming I'm a victim I'm not your victim okay so if I'm a victim allow me to say that but there there's something that that's very very pandering when when somebody tells me look at what I have these white students on campus who scream at me and tell me that you know I had one girl say to me what would your sister Angela Davis think and I was like I don't have a sister named Angela Davis I I literally thought she was talking about like my sisters you know I have a sister named Ashley I have no student a Manjula that I know about and she was saying basically saying see that because a black woman had come before me and had these ideas about me being a victim I had to subscribe to it and I took a second to tell her this is the very definition of race think that you claim to be fighting right is you assuming that because of my skin color I'm a victim or that I have a subscribe so that's I mean I think that's the greatest gift you can tell them to start sharing with them the black people that are actually offended by that mentality and I'm definitely one of them thank you hi hi my name is mr. Fisher Brent Fisher I'm a teacher at Liberty Classical Academy thanks for coming I know you've been busy doing the new circuit so it means a lot that you're here just one question I think we're all wondering have you had any further correspondence with Kanye and if you could comment on the TMZ interview and people saying that was a total meltdown right counted on that briefly but if there's any hope that he might be able to you know crack open a yeah I'm a soul book or researched something helpful for culture so know Kanye he's not a politician he's not like you know here's what I can tell you is so the TMZ interview was he has been trying to help be the fuel to my rocket ship if that makes sense right he wanted to crack open this conversation so people have started talking about this which is all they can talk about right now is Kanye West because he wasn't supposed to be saying that but he's tremendously interested in philosophy he's following Jordan Peterson and you know all of these other thinkers and doers you know charlie Kirk yes I have had more correspondences with him and yes I can confirm to you that this is just the beginning it's going to get a lot bigger and they they think that they are silencing him by running all these articles but they are just going to make his voice even louder he 100% wants to he doesn't to be a politician but he will have a a great impact on politics and you'll see all of that within the next month howdy Candace how you doing a boyfriend of yours well I'm a Christian youtuber conservative Christian youtuber I've been a conservative youtuber for over two years I was censored ever since they started censoring people and I just want to say it is a great privilege and honor just to have you here thank you so I'm Tory Slater but I'm also known as Christian D Ron and I just want to just tell you just to be here in this microcosm of insanity living here in Minnesota I'm gonna tell you I'm mentally vexed all the time so Candace my question is for you says from one YouTube to another youtuber I'm just wondering after this do you have ten minutes for an interview for my channel Oh today yeah yes I can do that today oh hello yes hi I'm Regina Reid Republican since the Nixon campaign I worked on that I had raised more money for shirley Chisholm and they called the Democrats call and asked me who was my donors by contributors at that time you didn't need to if you collect a less than $100 I told him I did not and she called me back later that day and said we're coming to your house a week on a beach Oh until you give us your list and I said well being a good Mississippi cotton-picking corn-fed molasses making black woman you bring it in my garage I have a double-bladed axe I said pitchfork and a single blade acts on a crowbar obvious said no my steps waiting for you and I'm gonna chop you down in the ground till I get tired get down sit down and rest get up and beat you some more so bring it hung up the phone call my friend and she said we're going to become my family never gave up Republican Party in Louisiana and she said I know your folks in Mississippi had not so I became she took me to the Nixon headquarters and I worked there and I ended up attending the inaugural and had the pleasure of meeting someone introduced me to the president and his wife on the dance floor and it was really not and a lot of listen tell them they want in too you can take I'll take you as my daughter my granddaughter whatever I've been here since the beginning of time sound like my my grandfather that's what my grandfather always says he lives out in Fayetteville North Carolina and he always says anybody messes with my grandbaby like he's got all the same stuff in his shed so hi my name is coffee Monica and I'm a conservative and and I encourage you as Candice said to meet each other I met a friend here who's also an attorney and we started a conservative group together from meeting at one of these American experiment events but my question is is I struggle with courage to speak up because I'm so afraid of violence I would go to some liberal events to speak up these cop events and my kids would say be careful walking to your car mom because they're so afraid of the Liberals also from what they see on TV but so sorry now I'm forgetting my oh my question is the thing that people say most to me is well if you have these views that means you don't think racism exists you don't think it even happens you're a denier you're a Holocaust and I are you're a racism denier so how do you I do get the same kind of comments and what is your reply well I usually laugh I have like I mean I just think it's like it's ridiculous because the slope is so slippery I said to you like they have me now it's like an Italian mob boss which I kind of cool I hope I get the ALPA Chino treatment when everything is said and done but listen what I always say is this racism exists yes it's always existed and it's never going to be defeated like there's always gonna be someone that hates somebody like this is just a form this is just you know um this is what happens because we are human beings human beings love and human beings hate for silly reason so what they what I always do tell them is that racism is no longer a problem right that is stopping me from being anything that I want to be in society there is no law preventing me as a black woman from doing the same thing that's stopping him as being a white man there doesn't exist and they it they ask you ask them to point to it you know I'm happy to add my voice and say yes we are being systematically oppressed they can point to me to the law that is preventing me from being successful and so what they're able to do the left is chained people to this idea a that society is perfectible it isn't I hate to spoil you know there are people that are all he's gonna hate white people there through that are always gonna hate black people they're people that are always gonna hate uber drivers I mean it's just this is just human beings right but that is what you should definitely challenge them to have the dialogue in the conversation and say okay if you're telling me that you know racism is something that I should be concerned with every single day can you tell me how it's preventing me from being great in my life if they can't answer that they should probably get out of your way that's why it's my opinion my name is Claire Christensen I'm a senior at Providence Academy I was wondering if you could give any advice to debating with people who fundamentally disagree with you yeah cuz I think a lot of this controversy is it really going anywhere cuz people aren't willing to listen or accept that maybe their opinion isn't correct right so debating is I'm gonna say two things first thing is I realized that it is very hard because some people don't want it to be because they know that they have no logics behind their emotion so a lot of times when we descend on these campuses will literally get like a group of protesters like the black lives matter video that went viral and people were like oh you know I shot them down and was like you know kind of rude what people don't see is that they were literally screaming the entire time just saying like F the police talking over us and when we said everybody you you're welcome to come with us and debate us like we actually if you disagree with us come to the front of a line and we'll hand you a microphone so we can have this they didn't do it they literally wanted to sit there so they could just scream and shout and be emotional so it's hard to debate I think because a lot of them understand that when pressed to do that they're incapable of it because it's all emotions and very little fact or logic but for people that are actually willing to have the dialogue you'll usually hit some common ground because they're willing to have the conversation the best thing to do is not to debate them and allow them to debate themselves so the number one strategy that Charlie Kurt gave me was ask them questions ask them for - question let them keep walking themselves forward so I had a girl get up and she said you know I think you know my lowly innopolis is a white supremacist and I said oh okay what is the definition of white supremacy she stopped uh-uh uh well okay because he my hello I mean tons of things that I disagree with that he doesn't has said but the idea that he's a white supremacist he's married to a black man that's like I mean it's really a little ludicrous to call someone who's married to a black man a white supremacist and she couldn't do it so I just kept asking her questions and in the end she wanted to stop because she couldn't answer her own question so the best debate strategy is is to ask them to sort of explain themselves and they always fall into a trap because there's very little logic there you're welcome hi Candace um my name is on it of all and this year we have all like dealt with the liberal inductive indoctrination in public schools I go to high school Eddie Dinah and that is what sounds scary some reaction we've been told to apologize for being conservative by teachers I've been locked out of classrooms just a lot more but I was just wondering what how do we stand up to this because in the end they are adults and we are taught I know I was raised to listen to adults so right so not those kind you know um so what you need to do is you need to make them famous okay you have a lot of power in your hand you live in a generation where you have a smartphone where and anybody that's doing something like that can be on the internet tomorrow you we had a girl do that recently I think she was in Georgia when the text book was already recreating the history of how Donald Trump came into office and they wrote that it was because of racism in the country and she stood up she I think her mother she recorded was a teacher we're saying in class and it went viral well you have to understand is this is this is bubbling at the surface this is not a time where they can get away with that okay you put that on the Internet guarantee you you write that in an email to what we do a turning point USA with our professor and teacher watchlist is exactly that we're not going to say what should be done to the teacher but we are happy to make those teachers famous if they believe it that's they should be telling teachers telling students I lambs will canopic I go to down a high school as well I was wondering if I could get your opinion on Scott Adams and his thoughts Oh so this is funny cuz you did you see that Kanye retweeted that video I thought it was brilliant very very brilliant so for those you guys guys that don't follow Scott Adams I actually wasn't following him and he sort of you mean he pretty much said what I'm saying up here that Kanye West ripped a hole in reality because he was describing a little white board that you know Candace owns is supposed to be over here and Kanye West being a part of culture is supposed to be over here and that him tweeting those seven words ripped a hole in reality and that what we're gonna see is pretty much a tremendous earth earth quake in these next coming months and leading up to 2020 and beyond so I don't know all of his thoughts so I'm not gonna sit up here and say that I co-signed everything because for all you know that's how they get you so you you know this means that you agree with all of this but in his assessment of why you know why what Kanye West did was so significant i 100% agree with him he was spot-on it was a really smart analysis oh I love Dora he's so VSR he asked me that my thoughts the jordan peterson phenomenon it's phenomenal that jordan peterson became famous for saying sit up straight brush your teeth take a shower like a Lutz literally jordan peterson wrote a book called twelve rules of success and you would think this was common sense right but it became like an international bestseller because somehow the left has created this idea that everything needs to be protested like the idea of showering and brushing your teeth is oppression it seriously I've met people that say that it's like why should I have to brush my teeth why should I have to shower and this is how the blue hair phenomenon started I'm convinced okay love Jordan Peterson and I'll be doing his show I was supposed to work this week but I've kind of been drinking out of a fire hose but I'll be doing a show at his YouTube showed a couple of weeks he's he's phenomenal a really smart guy my name is elf Rita Baldwin thank you I you're a breath of fresh air and you give somebody who's in the seventh inning of life courage should hope your interview with David Rubin and I loved it until you said you liked Kanye and then I'm like but you know I decided I'm going to listen to the message fully and not reject people because there's a part of what they say I don't like right but as much as I know Kanye can maybe pull in younger people there are some older people Thomas Cole and Walter boy I love him love him they have wandered in the conservative wilderness right for pretty much all their life yes they are phenomenal they are phenomenal I write i was reading thomas souls book on the way in here it's the new one yeah yeah it was just gifted to me he was on a did an interview and I listened to him read like one of the last passages in that book and it was just so it was wonderful so if there's a way to get those older folks voices right there as well so here's what I'll say and then I get this question all the time because I read books I like to read books and I Thomas so larry elder they've sort of written it all and have been dismissed called Uncle Tom's and Coons and they have amazing accomplishments no no I think about Condoleezza Rice she's the first black person and forget black woman to get into all dust-ups like unheard of the things that she's accomplished and she's completely dismissed but so here's what I'll say people always ask me like you know why don't I talk about you know do interviews with them they've been dismissed because we're we're in a different time right now so when I started making my videos everyone was like it's not gonna get done I had black Republicans that were speaking out against me like oh this isn't going to work while blah blah because they were a bidder that they had they hadn't been able to be effective well one thing that you can't discount is the times that we're in okay people don't have an attention span to watch a Thomas it's sad it's ridiculous they don't have the attention span to read like it's it's literally gold what he writes is gold everyone should be forced to read it as a part of their curriculum but they don't so how do I get what I've learned from them and deliver it to the masses this is why I started on YouTube this is why I made my videos always under four minutes with jump cuts because I wanted to make I wanted to say the same thing that they're saying but in a different voice that they actually heard my message and it's been successful so where I get my ideas I always say I am NOT the inventor of these ideas please let me tell you and I my heart goes out to these people I just did Larry elders radio show the other day I mean what the treatment that he has gotten for telling the truth you know being bold up until the truth hasn't been fair but as their message has fallen on deaf ears because many times it's not the message it's a person delivering the message that people will listen to right so I am hoping that we get to a point where because I've kind of opened the window here that people will start to see where my ideas come from and the truth is I mean Thomas whole Walter Williams there are legends I mean it's unbelievable what they've been able to do but I appreciate your comment I hope that that explains why I do things a little differently because kids don't have an attention span and they take too many naps hi I can't this first I want to say I love love love you thank you and I'm assuming I'm the senior citizen and I've been praying for decades for someone like you but one thing I want to say is that in this in this room right now there's not many black faces and the majority of them that are here probably are conservative and so I don't want us to leave today and not see again so I think while we're here we need to connect we need to connect because I'm very outspoken I'm not afraid I've had people that don't even know me attack me and I attack back I'm not mean-spirited or anything like that and I try to use fast I don't work on emotion I work on facts exactly so all the black people that are here I'm over here you know what I'm so sweet I love it Candace I think we have time for one more question here so you can incorporate any closing thoughts you have hi I'm drew Harris I'm in 11th grade at Liberty Classical Academy so a while ago there was a controversy with Starbucks arresting two black men building and I was wondering so the manager came out and apologized for for the arrest and I was wondering if you were that manager what would you have done I wouldn't have apologized I mean I mean if you could already tell how I am I wouldn't have apologized I think right is right and wrong is wrong and the last I checked Starbucks is not a homeless shelter so the last I checked so and this is it's it's sad that we're getting to this point where corporations and businesses are backing down because of nonsense because they're scared of what you know the liberal outrage machine you know this person was asked kindly to leave several times in Italy it didn't buy anything you know even when I have to listen we've we've all been there before like you have to use the bathroom you know you run into us I always buy something stupid like you know I'm like oh I'll have a juice box you know just so I can have you know use their bathroom because there's there's an etiquette to that these people don't open businesses to have homeless people say oh I'm just gonna sit here and squat for hours and do nothing or I'm gonna you know go change the bathroom and how slippery is that slope once they make an apology like that I was a homeless person right now I would be posted up in Starbucks all day I mean and so it's gonna take not just and I'm so happy that you're in high school by the way coming round of applause for all the high school students that are here but it isn't just the black community that needs new leaders we need stronger business leaders to set the tone for what is acceptable behavior and what is not acceptable behavior across the board okay they should not have got an apology they should have gotten no exposure they shouldn't have been on CNN act like they were victims of oppression and these were people regardless of their skin color that acted badly and had to deal with the consequences after so no I would not have apologized to them whatsoever [Applause] we
