Can you complete Poly Bridge 2 without building a bridge?

ever since bridges were invented in 1869 man has pushed the limits of engineering by building bigger longer and more extravagant bridges there have even been video games made about them such as 2016's polybridge and its highly popular sequel polybridge 2. what the hell is going on but until now no one has ever tried to imagine a world without bridges i hope and what about an even more disturbing let's get back to the video first we must define what a bridge is exactly now a quick google search and confirmation with myself states a bridge is a structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a depression or obstacle with the example being connecting an island to the mainland so as long as one side isn't connected to the other it isn't classed as a bridge yes hello fellow engineers and welcome to poly bridge 2 we are going to be doing the no bridge challenge in poly bridge 2. i just came up with it myself i was like what if polly bridge 2 didn't have any bridges in it that'd be weird but to start off we're going to head into worlds we're going to try and do world 1 without using a bridge so we're gonna go 10 meter simple bridge let's play the level oh no i've just remembered i've i've still got the super mario galaxy world mod installed go watch that video if you haven't it was pretty good alright so here we are the 10 meter simple bridge and in order to do this without building a bridge i'm probably just gonna do some sort of ramp but if we do something like that yes i've accidentally made it phallic but that means it's going to be strong as we've learned from previous videos oh dear it's not that strong we've got some budget though so i'm thinking if we do another wall brace so we've got something like that it's just got an even bigger testicle oh we failed at the end that was pretty close though so you can see that was the piece that broke i'm sort of thinking if i were to just lower this a bit and make this an equilateral triangle so all the angles are the same all the length sides are the same and that'll be a lot stronger because all the forces are shared equally so the question is is that any better the stress is high the stress is very high but we've made it and that's not a bridge that is a ramp right next up a new slope okay now we've got two choices here we could try and do similar and that we could bring this over and then drop it or we could allow it to drop on or we could do two the thing is this is quite a bit stronger this weighs 6pg that is polygrams so i'm thinking if i draw a line across there and then use the power of engineering to fill it with road look at that i can then delete that in the middle and we could do like over there and this one under there so there's a gap between them that's not a bridge definitely not a bridge so i think we're sort of just doing a similar thing and that we're using wall braces to do like a cantilever design i thought i was over budget for a second but i all the way up here my bloomin planet designs are saving some reason we'll get rid of those there you go plenty of budget the power of the chode means hopefully this should could didn't work right so there was a lot of force i'm wondering would it be worth going like touching tips this is a little bit weird so what if we do something like that there is a gap there oh that was nice that was nice i thought this wheel was going to get stuck are we in the top 16 no i can't be right no i think they're my they're my best scores previously 6843 my actual cost was 9 000 but we completed the level without using a bridge all right this time bridge of steel no we're not using a bridge but we will be using steel now was thinking for this one we've got quite a bit of budget particularly if we head up here and delete that first so what i was thinking of doing i could do a structure that touches both sides i think as long as the road or pathway doesn't connect the sides then it's not a bridge so what i was thinking of doing is something like that yes i know we're over budget or we're about to be over budget but if we make like a swinging mechanism there's something like oh no it goes in the water it dips in the water what if instead do similar but we suspend a little truss underneath i'm not sure it's going to be able to get up oh yeah what we might need is a bit of friction just to hold it in place there you go we've got those acting like i've just realized i can actually connect one side can i because that doesn't make it a bridge it's connecting this side that i can't do and the gap is gonna cause some issues it seems but i think if we dangle from there a bit of steel that should make it strong enough that this doesn't flex and the whole thing doesn't break have we done it yes that is not a bridge that is not a bridge we were nearly double the budget there as well but that was not a bridge right now we've got a 14 meter overpass don't let boats hit your bridge well i'm not gonna build a bridge so they can hit it once i delete that right so the question is will that hold it it looks strong to me to the untrained eye the unengineered eye it might not look very strong but i think yeah that's good that is fine and that isn't a bridge that's just a bit of wood that's been wedged in there you can see you can see this rock is wedging it in place therefore not a bridge it's not connected but over this side we've got this boat that we need to get out the way of so what i'm thinking if we go from that point and we go like that will we have the strength to get up so i'm thinking something like that yes it is looking sort of phallic i guess that ain't strong that is not looking good but it can oh it does get up so that's a positive i've reinforced a bit of this with steel but the road is now breaking so if we get this one the reinforced road this is a stronger bit of road if we perhaps replace all of those that should be a lot stronger you can see the stresses are way down already oh that was looking good if we didn't bounce we might be better so what i might do rather than dipping down i might keep us going uphill so we don't drop as much so how's that looking it's looking a bit bouncy are we gonna make it oh no oh that was close that was pretty close if we replace that bit with steel that might be enough to get us across so come on come on yes we did it no bridges allowed oh man let's look in the gallery like that one there that's pretty much what i just did but they made it a bridge mine wasn't a bridge oh no this is where it's going to get complicated so this one we've got checkpoints that we've got to reach so the red sports car got to go through that checkpoint before the flag the vw campervan which is definitely licensed needs to go through this star and then that flag but we need to do this without building a bridge oh my brain right i've just gone four percent over budget but i think we're nearly there i've basically got on the bottom we've got like a cantilevered bridge so this truck will go across there can you see there's a little gap in the middle a little gap in there so this is a jump the volkswagen van will come along here it will do a jump over to there hence these are reinforced road then sorted the top one it's sort of like a three-piece structure so we've got this triangle bit this is just like a ramp and then the car will jump onto this this is like a pivot we've got a bit of a whip going on there some weights with wood and then this whole piece it sort of rotates about this point here so it should lean forward and then gently pass the car onto these platforms and we should be good so we'll press play and you'll see how it works oh yes yes oh that's taking like 15 minutes but we did we're nearly under budget i'm gonna i might try and tweak this so it's under budget i know allow you guys to see how i did this exactly you can have a few more looks as i work it out but i'm pretty blooming impressed with that although it does break but if i tweak these it's never good to tweak weights and things but i really don't want it to oh no i've cocked it i've got it alright there you go that's a bit cheaper i just i basically just got rid of the steel and the reinforced raid there i'm going to try and upgrade that to steel basically when this pecks the water it's smacking on impact all right broke there this time that's gonna be expensive and steel yeah that puts us over budget no there you go that doesn't break we are very slightly over budget can we perhaps replace these with normal road that's cheap like well anyway that is over budget but we did have breaks but still pretty impressed with that that was a very nice non-bridge design ah this time we have to build a drawbridge apparently uh what i'm thinking instead though because this is only a little moped he's very light 1.5 polygrams if we were to do that so basically i've just done like a curved bit of road in the middle and then i've wedged it in the middle here so if i didn't have these arms for example that just a little archie thing between those two rocks you can see it flops down like that but if we go back i put these in they basically just wedge which essentially means this hinge cannot bend so if we watch it now you can see it tries to but then it realizes the power of engineering has eluded it so i think that is one of our structures now that is not a bridge next up i'm thinking if we go like over to there we can then do a little ramp off the top this is like the world's shortest ramp so when the boat passes under hopefully this bloke with his very very long legs he drops down yep does a bit of an endo and then really your moped's that crap it doesn't have the power to get up that hill okay so we'll raise it up a bit so it's not as steep or as crappy little moped we'll copy all of this so it's symmetrical then all we'll have to do on this side is sort of reverse this so that ramp goes there that one goes on top right so it's holding the boat fits under to watch that guy plop down does he have the power yes he does but he got eaten by the bridge no it's not a bridge you got eaten by the thing right alternatively i can just put some reinforcement on there that will stop everything moving but we've got three separate structures we've got the ramp we've got this archie thing which he gets over and then the final ramp easy well under budget as well oh and that actually beat my original score did it no way sorry we're in the top 19 nice all right so this one taxi task we've got a checkpoint that's going to reverse the direction of the car so it's going to drive up here and then it's going to come back meaning single-use non-bridges aren't allowed so for this one i've done like a arched thing definitely not a bridge it's like a weird structural bit of art or something and once it's all dressed up it looks like that and then what i was thinking of doing we draw a line in as a bit of a guide where we want to go i want to do road and i want a gap and then i want more road and another gap right and then if we do something like this i guess a bit like a newton's cradle yeah it's a nuisance cradle it's not a bridge and i reckon if i'm patient enough i can just i can get this to work right across one across nearly two right i think we're making progress now yes i may have slightly connected them together oh it died but after a bit more steel i think we're gonna get across yes it's definitely a nuisance cradle still oh that broke that break but we're up we've got the checkpoint and then we're gonna head back the other direction oh that was a disaster all right if i move this one over there it should try and swing right so it might be a bit closer when we come back come on yes we're on we're on is it gonna make it back this gap is going from vicious to nazi fish that was quite good but it like did a jump on the way back that's not ideal i really don't know how to stop that happening either i mean i could do like that sort of thing so it's a bit less wibbly in the middle it still wibbles but definitely oh god oh god i was gonna say not as much but um right i think we're nearly there i just made the flexible bit in the middle and the less flexible bit there which means we can get up okay it gets a bit of a nudge by the bridge we're up we're turning around then on the way back it picks up some speed oh god oh no damn you game right if i if i make that a little bit lower as long as it can still get on at the start which it can hopefully be a smoother jump onto it right it's on its way back come on come on yes oh yes oh that was brutal that level was hard ah we're on the rope support level so on this one you don't really build a bridge anyway because you just build a structure hanging from some hot air balloons so if we build up to there we then just trust this up and then we dangle from the balloon you then need a nice gentle way of getting on so i'm thinking if i build road over to there do a little triangle underneath and that should be nice and smooth yes it is but the bridge gets annihilated now we could just go mental with the budget and try and do like that sort of thing and yes definitely works so if we do the same over this side add a little ramp like that they're not connected they sort of look like they're connected but they're not they're just on top of each other oh we did that level easy we're only slightly over budget i wonder could i could i like remove those middle ones then we're under budget the stress is going up a little bit but i think we're fine [Music] nice for people saying that it might be cheating if we do that what if we try and put the gap back in so you can see they weren't connected together which technically means it's not a bridge but yeah it just gets annihilated you've got to go over the top of each other screw it i reckon that's fine next level oh this one's going to be hard this one has a very strict budget it's called budget cuts but as we have a rock in the middle it's probably the most sensible thing is to try and go down to that let's say we do that we fill that with road we then go over the top in a nice little arch and as long as that holds we can just copy that to the other side i think oh it nearly does it does start moving if i move that to a bit lower down that might be better yeah that's good that is actually good so if we now mirror this over to the other side all we got to do is draw these back in and then as long as the scoop at the front doesn't nudge the bridge i need to stop calling it a bridge we should be good right so are we gonna make it over yes yes oh we've actually done it we've actually done it yes first time i'm quite impressed with that 8 300 quid under budget and no way that was better than my original design and we're in the top 3 and we didn't even build a bridge right this level you're encouraged not to build a bridge so build a bridge we won't we'll just do a ramp and some springs to land easy peasy yeah we actually beat our score we're in the top three percent i am a bit annoyed how non-bridges are doing better in poly bridge than real bridges anyway this one we got a budget of 25 grand i'm pretty sure we can go to 50 grand as well right so we've got this there that is literally just a triangular truss structure it's not a bridge but when we press play you can see it sort of slides down it just wedges in there so if we make something to catch the car basically what i'm thinking is something along these lines can you see this fools but then we've got a bit of we got like that in there to make it fall to the right point so as it falls this bit straightens boing as long as we can get it to fall into the right spot we've made like a temporary bridge type of thing that's pretty good that as long as we can get over this so we might want some steel there make these trusses bigger so they're stronger all right so blue car has made it perfectly but the van went underwater ah okay what we might want to do this extendy bit what if we were to extend it down so it sort of catches the van that could work this is so complicated if we go to like there then connect all of these to that and down to there oh now it falls the wrong way ah so we might need the old dangly bits of weight at the front right so i've just about got this working it falls slowly to the right and the car goes over you see it just about saves the van but then it's sort of leaning back i need to stop it leaning back somehow i don't think the van can save itself from that perhaps i could make this like rest over here somewhere right so i've made this huge claw i've spent so long on this it's so terrible as well so as long as the boat can get underneath without touching this this now no longer rocks back is the boat oh the boat's not gonna fit oh it still rocks back oh dear all right but this time there's sufficient space which means we made it across without using a bridge what is that [Music] oh man anyone going through the gallery you'll just think like a lunatic has escaped and is trying to make
