Building a Barndominium: EPIC Post Frame Home Intro

what's up youtube kyle here from rr buildings and look at this this is our next project and you guys have seen us build farm shops garages hunting cabins you know just about anything except for the one thing that everybody has been asking us about and that is can you build a house in one of your buildings well lucky you that's what we're gonna do so let's get into it [Music] now i've heard all different terms thrown around the internet i've heard barndominium i've heard shouse i've heard shome i've heard barndo which is i think just short for barn dominium but really all those are are a non-traditional barn style home and we build post frame construction we don't do your typical 2x4 construction i think there's a lot of advantages to post frame over stick frame so that's what we're going to be going through in this project and in this build series so make sure if that's something you're interested in guys hit the subscribe button hit the bell so you get notified you don't want to miss out man i think that this is going to be probably the most epic build to date on the rr buildings channel and i hope that it really helps a lot of you out there get educated on what post frame is what it can be and just in general i hope just some awesome content for those of you that just love construction so what do we got here behind me is the site this is going to be a 48 by 64 home so the home is 48 by 64. we've got 17 foot sidewalls that is so we can have a second story and then i'm standing here in the garage the garage is 32 by 48 so it's going to have two garage doors oversized garage doors there's going to be tons of room lots of open space for the family and you can see behind me the views are going to be spectacular we're going to be fully sheathing this building it does not have a basement we're probably going to do some sort of a safe room you know just for inclement weather we've got big wrap around porches lots of windows it's going to be awesome and i can't wait to share with you guys so this video right here is just an introduction because today is what is the date today greg september okay guys today is september 7th and if you know me if you have been following along i am right now sharing with you guys a build that greg and i did this summer and it takes a long time everything you see here i have to edit myself i shoot it edit it it takes a lot of time since you know greg and i build all day so the point of this video is to introduce you to the project let you guys know that we're starting it that the content is coming but this is an opportunity for you guys to respond in the comments with the questions the concerns the things that confuse you or that you really want to know about when it comes to this sort of project so this is your opportunity and my goal is to get this instant feedback so as we go through this process start building it and i'm taking my time to record these videos and answer questions i can help somebody that is the goal so please do that now the first thing that i want to share with you guys is that i do actually have a plan website it's growing so don't expect to be going there and finding hundreds of different plans for all these different types of barn dominions but this building this plan it will be available this is just a small copy for my own personal use but you'll be able to download purchase the full pdf of this plan which if you don't love it exactly you also have the information to my designer so that you can contact him and he would love to work with you on modifying the key being that you get all the details and build methods that we incorporate here on the channel so that will help you with your project now this building back here is a little bit different in that it's not going to be a full metal skin we're going to be using lp smartside on this building which is a big partner of this channel as you guys know we love it i think it's a great way to enhance one of these types of projects stay tuned if you're interested in that we're gonna be spray foaming the walls we've got radiant heat like the whole nine yards anything that you are curious about we're probably going to be answering those questions on this channel okay so we've got the foundation already done right now there is not a floor port and that is because we don't want that in our way that is a common question on the channel why don't you guys pour the floor before you start we will actually get this entire structure built water tight to a degree i think we're going to be waiting on windows and then the plumber electrician they'll come in run all their underground then pour the floor with that radiant heat that way we don't mess anything up you got to remember this is a finished floor i don't want my hammer dropping taking a big chunk out of the concrete so that is one question i always get one of the big features of this project this property is this lake behind me that you'll see we've got a gorgeous porch that's going to be wrapping around the entire front of this building with windows and a plenty of space for future entertaining and just really enjoying this spot because it is a gorgeous spot we're very thankful to be working here and i think it's going to make for some epic pictures video drone content so with that being said i don't want to share everything right now i want you guys to just know about this project and to start formulating your questions so that you can ask them and i can do my best to answer them i'm going to go ahead and get out of here
