we can't pretend love we're just friends yeah but who are we kidding we can't pretend now we feel nothing but if you're game i am willing to jump [Music] here in seattle's chinatown there's one place i've never been that i heard a lot about oh i think it's closed uwaji maya oh they have a bookstore a marquee a food hall okay i want to go to the food hall i've been to other branches of women i've never been to one in seattle this is the one that after i went to the other branch everyone's telling me this is the one you got to come to because this is where they got the food court and supposedly it's much bigger let's go check it out whoa just walk by spam i just saw these beauties in the window maybe we'll get some spam later [Music] oh i didn't know there's this food court here creme brulee puff beard papa's i'm actually looking for this congee place it's supposed to be amazing oh this is where i wanted to go this was the uh the kanji place as everyone was talking about ah so sad but you know what i'm sure we can find something at supermarket coconut mochi oh this is like every single flavor of mochi ice cream you ever want in your life is here wow i know i have a policy of always getting ice cream whenever i see it but oh look at this is so much stuff here all the black sugar boba ice cream plus different types of it too this one is brown sugar this one's on the inside i gotta try that sweet potato ice oh yes custard oh my there's so many so many great desserts here so many different types of mochi i'll come here last these are some of the ready-to-eat items tuna nigiri oh this looks good spaghetti set bunch of onigiri's masubi unagi over rice scallop pepper pokey [Music] i think this is sort of like a japanese first but also kind of a general asian market so you're gonna have yakisoba pad thai fried rice i'll try the yakisoba i love a piece of salmon oh spam the gertie yes please you just made this huh nice thank you this is from a great local sandwich shop i featured them in a video once awesome japanese sandwiches as we can sure udon kyodo so this is where they make a lot of their ready-to-eat foods oh sukiyaki really poor cold noodles all right that's already starting to stack up let's go look at the frozen foods oh a happier cake haven't seen this since hawaii matcha mousse cake natto beans takoyaki how would a takoyaki taste good in a microwave guess we'll find out you know surprisingly there's not a lot of gilda brands this is all japanese gills are here and here but if you remember when we went to h-mart it was like just aisles of dumplings looks promising a car like miso i'll try one of these packagings like like this always catch my attention because it gets me thinking that there's some locally made products which i don't think this is but it caught my attention so sometimes simpler is better all right let's do sort of a light brunch oh a dongle to make things safer for myself um i'm gonna just not go down to snack aisle for the japanese supermarket feast i've been wanting to come to this noodle place it was closed the last time i was here king noodle pork stomach rice noodle spicy you know lime like oh you can just order whatever you want wontons ginoki tofu skin this is so stupid i have like a car full of food and it's more than enough for me to eat i have tons of food in the car i just bought a noodle soup but for some reason like when you're in chinatown i keep wanting to get more stuff because i'm not gonna be here for a long time [Music] just a ramen hot dog is that good yeah yeah sweet about it you're awesome thank you so much welcome enjoy have a good rest of your day ramen corn dog insane it looks pretty though [Music] that's always satisfying crunchy ramen soft cheese this skin is so much lighter than a regular corn dog but the ramen outside that's a genius move wow that gives us such a nice crunch i got a half an hour so half cheese and half hot dog [Music] imagine there's something quick and satisfying to hold me over for my drive home let's go home again more [Music] strangers [Music] hey just got home first thing i did took a shower change and put my noodle on the stove this is a massive bowl of noodles so i got beef shank with rice noodles and mushrooms and leek and i got some wontons some enoki mushrooms some tofu skin oh this broth smells glorious oh that's good broth huge leak flavors very spicy noodles still retain a nice true i think the best thing in here is 100 of wontons [Music] oh nice we got more than one in here mixture of pork and shrimp i really like the added leech and mushrooms there's so much texture and flavor and meats just all floating in this pool great beefy broth glorious breakfast noodle indeed oh this tastes like an orchard my general rule with japanese drinks is whenever it says peach on there i get it i know you guys know what i'm talking about i see half of you all with the little peach emoji on your instagram account you all will really appreciate a nice peach drink just like me all right before all the comments start flooding in yes i know what a peach emoji means not that old but come on can it be for both can't it also express our love for a nice juicy peach okay probably not helping my case here i'm just gonna move on next up let's oh let's just try the nigiri i got the mixed platter because tuna is my favorite got an extra order of this a little heavy handy on the rice but my fish is fresh and delicious eating this makes me both happy and sad i mean it's delicious that makes me happy but also reminds me of japan and that just makes me sad ah supposed to live there this year again a little too much rice for my liking but the fish is delicious freshly made gildong this little god this is so annoying i already hate weeds i don't think i find it in my food heat it up in the microwave i don't know about you guys but there's certain foods that when i know i'm about to eat them it's just oh it's it's like it's like meeting up with someone you idolize someone just gets your blood boiling you know for me it's halle berry and a gildo and to clarify i'm not saying halle berry is a bowl of beef over rice i mean she's way prettier but with that said will you just look at this choose from the beef ran into the rice you see how the rice is brown from that meaty juice and of course the thin cuts of beef with these sauteed onions i mean honestly if someone told me i reminded them of a gildonbow wouldn't be upset do delicious you kind of just want to hold it close to you stare at it longingly put on your favorite tv show get a drink ready set it aside and then start shoveling this thing in your mouth like it wants you to do sweet onions melty fat that juice again is soaked into every grain of rice let's just make this a little bit better dress it up a bit date night it needs to be accessorized is it sad that i compare food to dates to this day one of my favorite food items in the world is a good bowl of beef over rice and if you don't have a japanese supermarket or a restaurant area that serves this just go to your local chinese supermarket check out my chinese supermarket video where i try one of the gildan bowls from the freezer aisle tremendous another rice dish that i got it's a unagi chirashi if you guys don't know what shirashi is it just means scattered so it's basically a bunch of different ingredients in a bowl and this one of course has unagi you got omelets of course some weeds seriously we need to quit it with this sliced up bits of unagi oh that is tender [Music] whoa that is delicious the yield is tender and sweet with a bit of smokiness i actually just melt your mouth oh it's nice and fatty too well you know what this thing needs salmon skin chips i think it needs a bit of texture because it's so soft and it's delicious that way but i feel like with a bit of texture that these chips will bring and this is the half the fun when you buy stuff at the supermarket come home mix your own ingredients with it that is what i call food serendipity i mean i just happened to have a bag of salmon skin chips in front of me while i was eating this unagi ball in the food world there are no coincidences that extra crunch is exactly what this dish needs just a bit of different texture tremendous and again i was telling you guys i had a bag of salmon chips sitting over there i'm going to let you in a little secret you know how i noticed that when i was stuffing my face with this delicious food that's because i have unaki yeah ross would be proud oh this might also be a good compliment to this dish it does need a little bit of acid scallop pepper salad sesame cucumbers chilies that's amazing naturally sweet scallops even the peppers and the sesame kind of hi how sweet those scallops are let's get to some noodles this is the one i got from them that they make the uu dong japanese noodles and this one is like an instant noodle that they made inside that supermarket and all you got to do is add hot water soup base is good you can taste the dashi i think the noodles will fail though really no springy texture left fish cake is good will probably be the biggest compliment i can give this thing i mean i bought some frozen wood on today i bet it probably tastes better than that okay yaki soba we got a lot of noodles whoa this is like a beef slash squid yakisoba oh this smells great please don't let me down like the udo i just ate oh that great worcestershire sauce smell oh man oh this thing is so painfully average you taste more of the worcestershire sauce than anything else yeah squid's good move is good noodles really missing that eighth quality you know that stuff that makes taylor swift a superstar this ain't got it oh let's try this one the maruchan brand yakisoba now maruchans has not always been a favorite brent of mine like their instant noodles i probably ring that a little higher than sawdust let's give it a try flavor pack comes with three packs of noodles i'm going in with a watching a russell brand movie type of mentality keeping my expectations low well you got to give maruchan credit they are consistently bad at everything they do this thing doesn't even taste like yakisoba it tastes like they took their regular instant noodles and just made it thicker put it into the freezer aisle and then just told you to stir fry it i mean the seasoning came from a powder pack it kind of smells like yakisoba i really don't feel like it tastes like it it just tastes like a stir-fried maruchan ramen all right next up i have pretty high expectations for this it's purely based on the packaging look how beautiful it is cup of golden eggs big pieces of chashu which i know does not exist inside this packaging but it's just it's making me feel things you know it's tonkatsu show you ramen and tonkatsu is my favorite type of ramen oh fresh noodles you see now rouchan this is what a sauce pack looks like this is what actual noodles look like [Music] this is fantastic oh wow that flavor is deep rich creamy silky oh that just tastes like morgan freeman's voice oh velvety smooth okay so this brand is uh yamachan so when you go to the grocery store don't get your chance mixed up okay maruchan bad yamachan good i mean don't judge this by the fact that it was sold in a freezer out of a grocery store this thing is so rich you could buy your house noodles are chewy and smooth grabs onto the broth well this is better than some ramen i've had in restaurants i kid you not you know when i'm going to all these grocery stores and trying all these great japanese food and noodles you know what i'm doing right i'm not actually i mean making the video is part of it but then i was thinking like i always joke around about putting some of this stuff opening up a restaurant is just in the bag have nothing but like these frozen instant noodles i'll just cook this and like add an egg or something add a couple pieces of chashu i might actually do this i am opening up a ramen restaurant though as soon as possible where i promise i'm not gonna sell instant noodles from supermarkets this thing is so good i'm gonna award it my piece of salmon like i was saving this for a special occasion where special bowl noodles you are it [Music] oh that is good let me show have some oh [Music] buy the salmon slurp of noodles heaven ain't so far away my suggestion if you ever had a japanese supermarket but they offer fish especially macro or salmon you buy them [Music] [Music] i just cooked the tang kutsen curry udon i can't tell if this is good or not like it could be really good did maruchan make me lose my sense of taste it's very powerful i'll say that very rich and thick extremely flavorful the curry essence and fragrance is like borderline overpowering i don't feel like it's bad i'm just not sure it's good last noodle i'm gonna try the sun shoyu ramen [Music] as the great mary poppins was saying it's super califragilistic extra slippalicious [Music] noodles are good oh great show you rock very nice sun noodle i just realized i have all these like little miscellaneous yeasts i haven't done anything with yet my spani getty this will go great with the ramen hot peel cake something i haven't had since hawaii if you ever go to hawaii go to ted's bakery they sell a great one of these oh man oh that is creamy and fluffy that's a great cook i never had this before mini fruits mochi go get this this is delicious wow real fruit flavor that is a luminous true your teeth will thank you forgetsu dough but don't forget to get this okay bubba ice cream and whatever this is this is like ice cream and mochi and red beans well this is just delightful it's just like something i had once at a lawson in japan it's soft-serve ice cream with sweet red beans and chewy mochi that is very very good okazu palm this is like a bread filling the texture's kind of throwing me off a little bit the outside texture is fantastic i'm not really loving the inside of it this is so much better than just having a bubble tea i think like 70 or 80 percent of the time like after a hot pow or korean barbecue you know it was always a debate between bubble tea or ice cream best of both worlds this one is good i think i still like the the other one better where the bobas are on the outside i get no bulba texture in this one still good though oh we need flames okay i only have electric stove i'm gonna go get some fire when you're eating dango you gotta toast it kids don't try this at home trust me way more satisfying than roasting a marshmallow oh that is delicious not just a face s'mores ain't got nothing on this every single time i bite into this this reminds me of kyoto again happy and shattered at the same time but seriously the next time you go camping the s'mores bring this i'm so glad i'm able to live by a japanese supermarket so i'm missing japan and getting all these cravings i can actually do something about it all those of you guys who send me messages about small businesses that needed help or the messages from the small businesses directly i really did try my best to go eat at these places i know there's only certain things i can do i wish i can do more i feel so bad when i hear about these small businesses struggling at the same time there's so many great ease around the greater seattle area i had a really good time eating my way through renton and kent i go to camp i think i went to canada like all these small towns that are just spread all over the place always a fantastic drive more often than i can see the beautiful mount rainier in the distance it's just a beautiful area and i love being here i think i'll love it more you know when it actually rains yeah you heard me doesn't rain here in seattle don't buy into the rumors wherever you're at i hope you're staying safe you're staying positive you're staying happy and all the best to
