unfortunately for you we're back in yharnam again consider this an addendum for the guide I made on blood-borne builds two years ago yes two years have passed since then you don't need to watch that first video to understand what's going on here but it will most definitely help you in understanding blood-borne on a more fundamental level you see blood-borne involves active challenges testing both your reaction time and hand-eye coordination however fighting is only half of the battle blood-borne is two genres warped into one it's an action game and it's an RPG where everyone has varying talents for the physical combat of games like blood-borne the numbers that involve stats and leveling up your character is for lack of a better pun a whole other beast you have to ask yourself a question there's a certain area or boss difficult because they're physically challenging or because your character doesn't have the proper stats yet this is something I've commonly seen from newer players who play blood-borne and something I hope to help you all better understand by this video's conclusion what is the best build for newer players to use in their first playthrough first of all let me quickly define what a build means when I say build in blood-borne your character can level up as you acquire more and more blood echoes through the game a build implies that you're building toward a tangible goal a threshold a certain allocation of stats that you want your character to have you want your character to look cool you want your character to use really cool weapons and above all you want your character to be able to survive or at least I sincerely hope you want your character to survive a main issue for newer players is that they either don't know what to build for or they do but they don't know how you see you can technically level your character up to the maximum level of 5 144 however this is a rather unrealistic task to do you would need to level up each and every one of your stats to the hard cap of 99 but the amount of blood echo is required to get your character even halfway there is so immense you can't pull off such a thing without devoting days into farming blood echoes in fact the estimated level you ought to reach by the end of your first playthrough is closer to 70 maybe 80 nowhere near 544 not to mention that a large majority of your character stats reach steep soft caps halfway to 99 beyond these soft caps you get diminishing returns for each point you slot into them and thus there are few reasons to even go so high so when you see someone referred to a build in blood-borne or Dark Souls they're referring to a character that is stopping their level at a certain threshold the build I'm recommending today is one that stops at blood level 75 you can take this more as a guideline than a hard rule but believe me when I say that if you want to try almost everything in the game while also having survivability and versatility then this is as close as you can get most importantly I'm going to show you the progress of the build all along the way if you're careful with your levelling as you progress through blood-borne it can make much of the game a lot easier than before and here it is provided that you start with the military veteran origin when you reach blood level 75 you want to have 40 vit 10 endurance 25 strength 25 skill 10 blood tinge and 15 arcane let me break down why these stats are arranged in such a way and why they wouldn't benefit you the most as a new player again when you first start the game be sure to go with the military veteran origin this origin gives you solid health and stamina while making immediate boost to your strength and skill nearly every weapon in the game requires some form of strength and skill in order to wield them the few weapons that do require special stats like blood tinge or arcane are best save for when you have a better understanding of the games weapon systems and you're coming around to your second or third playthrough in fact the few odd out weapons that we aren't going to be using on this build are the weapons that you need to devote an entire build around it instead but with this build you'd only be missing out on three weapons in total everything else can work with just strength and skill alone after creating your character your priority will be vitality vitality vitality vitality means health and health is how many mistakes you can make before you get to see a loading screen for all intensive purposes vitality is your difficulty bar when you're in the early game you gain much more benefit from each point of vitality than from endurance in any of the attack stats to explain further most of your damage in the early game actually comes from the blood gems you'll find not from the intact stats you put in also endurance just has very bad returns on stamina I'd strongly recommend only leveling up vitality until it reaches 30 true facts however if you come across a weapon that catches your eye and you want to spend a few points into strength or skill in order to use it then by all means take the detour and try that weapon out once vit reaches 30 coincidentally your character will be at level 30 now you can start pumping strength and skill equally until they both become 20 and 20 20 strength and 20 skill are the highest any of the main hand trick weapons can require from you just to use them once you get 20 20 you can now use a majority of the weapon roster once you do this your character should now be at level 43 there's a small fork in the road decision you can make here depending on your preferences do you want more health then pump it to 40 do you want more weapon variety then slightly raise blood-tinged to 10 and arcane to 15 then double back and grab what you missed with the other stats side note the reason why we're only slightly leveling blood tianjin arcane is twofold having 10 blood-tinged you to use a majority of the firearms in the game and the trick weapons that are outfitted with firearm attachments such as the rifle spear and writer pelage having 15 arcane allows you to use weapons that have split damage between physical and elemental sources like the ligarius wheel and the holy moonlight sword there are also consumable hunter tools that have incredible utility in a fight but require at least 15 arcane in order to use the beasts roar the old Hunter's bone are such hunter tools luckily for us the weapons that have a blood tinge or arcane requirement don't necessarily require large investments into those respective stats in order to see the weapon shine having only strength and skill should be enough for them to work whether or not you want to pursue them with a more optimized build later we'll be down to you now you ought to be around level 65 at this point and nearing the end of blood-borne if you're starting to see some nightmares and I use that term very loosely you're in the last third of the game for these last 10 levels you want to push strength and skill both up to 25 25 is the first soft cap that every attack stat has this is the point where you first start seeing diminishing returns it's not as severe as going past 50 but if you want to do sizable damage with the weapons you've been picking up then you need to at least reach the 25 stat soft cap now your blood level 75 or around the parts you want to find yourself now finishing up your first playthrough and almost ready to see the credits roll once you do that and you very well could set down the controller go on to social media tell everyone you be blood-borne and that you are in fact a capital G gamer is this the end of your journey though fortunately for you it doesn't have to be if you're considering to go into a new game+ cycle or several for that matter then I recommend you level up more beyond 75 maybe you want to dive into the deeper deaths of the chalices maybe you're interested in joining many nerds who decide to play PvP in this game if you want any of the above then you have to level up more but how much more allow me to introduce flood level 120 BL 120 is where the community that still plays today congregates and why well that this topic involves a lot of nerd game theory when it comes to blood level but long story short it's the popular meta that's been tried and tested over these past 5 years again you very well can go above and beyond 120 and go above and beyond 200 but you will still find the most activity at 120 there's a lot of reasoning for why people stick at this particular level some of it involves level based defense absorption every time you level up you get more defence absorption naturally and in theory everyone should be reppin sizable health and dealing considerable damage to each other at this level no one should feel like they're coming up short lest they have to turn to a build making video like this one not to mention many argue that 120 is perfect for build expression and that anything lower are higher leads to many players looking or being built the same in a game like blood-borne which has limited fashion and limited weapon choices these arguments aren't too far-fetched I'll save the intricate nerd discussion for another time the bottom line is a lot of the holdouts for blood-borne these days stick to 120 and it's a rather fun level to build for all things considered look at what our BL 75 build can become once it reaches 120 this is only one example of what you could do but I'll still explain why this is a solid build to bring if community events like fight clubs or sinister runs show up if you consider yourself a smash and tare kind of person and want to use all the big menacing weapons then pump strength 250 but if you value style and finesse and want to use quicker weapons pumps kill 250 sure most of the weapons themselves scale with both strength and skill but all of them greatly prefer one to the other and at this point you ought to know which tickles your fancy more for the rest of the stats it's really a toss-up I put more into vitality but if you feel hankering for more endurance than my all means pump it a little bit I use the anti-clockwise metamorphosis rune it adds an additional stamina by 20% this'n agates the feeling of having low stamina for me entirely also having low endurance in a game like blood-borne isn't as big of a challenge as it seems meanwhile vitality reaches a Stern soft cap at 50 but pushing it higher to 60 isn't all that bad of an idea considering if you equip both the 15 and 10% clockwise metamorphosis runes this means that you will have a hundred plus health as a host cooperator and invader or around a hundred in some situations this could be the difference between a loading screen and a chance to heal health is so very important especially for later New Game+ cycles and most certainly for PvP in conclusion focus on vitality even out your strength and skill to vote a little bit of blood to engine arcane and try out as many weapons as you can for your first playthrough this video was all about the stats of making a build we haven't even talked about the blood gems about the intricate fighting and blood-borne that's unfortunately for you this is about it for me for now at least I hope this was able to help smooth your hunt through yharnam and maybe get you interested in the more finer details of what blood-borne has to offer this month is going to be the 5th year anniversary of blood-borne 's release and here's to making it a special one I'm gonna link some reputable twitch streams in the description so that you can check out the community members that will most certainly be hosting blood-borne event this month to
