come one more time to give you glory to give you praise the lift and magnify you the king of king the lord of lord to give you glory god because that is what you desire above all else from your people thank you lord god for those that have gathered thank you lord for those that are on their way keep your hand upon us all tonight oh god and help us to give you our very best we want to welcome everyone to the sanctuary apostolic church by way of announcement we want to remember is the memorial service for sister moosky this coming saturday morning at e 11 o'clock so let's uh make sure we're here to show support and love for our sister and her family and then we want to remember the ladies prayer conference a week from this coming friday you don't want to miss it everyone should be making plans to be here for that all the ladies and then we want to go before the lord in prayer for brother kerry and then we want to remember brother daniel's dad as well and any others that you may know that are sick let's just lift them up before the lord right now in prayer and as soon as we conclude prayer we invite the ushers to come and receive tonight's tithe and offering lord god we love you hospital in town amen living living in unsure times but i thank god the bible says unto him that is able to keep you from falling aren't you glad you know who the keeper is tonight i heard it saying a long time ago that every captain is a good captain when the seas are calm [Music] but when the seas get troubled that's when you find out who your captains really are and i'm glad that the captain that is driving this ship controls the winds and the seas it can step out on the bow of the boat when things get just a little trouble and raise his hands and say peace be still and all of a sudden those things that are rocking your world those things that are rocking your boat those things that are beating yourselves and you don't know what else you're gonna do you don't know how much longer you can hold on all of a sudden the captain steps out and says peace be still and the winds and the seas even obey his voice hallelujah i'll say it again who's glad to be in church on a wednesday night [Music] i'm glad i knowing who my redeemer is [Music] hallelujah hallelujah amen we want to welcome all of our guests and visitors tonight if you are with us tonight is so good to have you here if you do not have a home church we would be glad for you to have this is your home church i'm sorry tonight that you have me instead of pastor but i do believe that god has given me a word for the church tonight and i guess while you're going to genesis chapter 32 verse 24 i do want to thank pastor for the honor to step in this pulpit tonight at any point we do this it is definitely an honor i almost feel like a full-time evangelist tonight spent the whole day with pastor yesterday traveling and i got my camper parked out behind the church because when i went to relocate it we had about two more weeks left before we could move out on the property and my wife said amen but uh we went to move our trailer this morning there wasn't an empty spot in the in the park where we were staying at so i had to call pastor and ask him if we could spend a few days here and so now we're here and i'm telling you preaching on a wednesday night got my camper parked out back spent the whole day with pastor yesterday i'm just addie i didn't come in a while ago i said everybody's wanting to know who that's who who's preaching tonight it looks like we got a special speech here it's just me just me genesis 32 verse 24 and jacob was left alone they wrestled with a man with him until the breaking of day [Music] and when he saw that he prophet prevailed not against him he touched the hollow of his thigh the hollow of jacob's thigh was out of joint as he wrestled with him and he said let me go for the day breaketh and he said i will not let thee go except thou bless me he said unto him what is thy name he said jacob and he said that name shall be called no more jacob but israel for as a prince has thou power with god and with man and has prevailed lay our bibles down and just one more time just give god thanks for the spirit that is in this place ask his anointing on the remainder of this service lord we thank you god for everything you've done savior we thank you lord for the spirit that is in this place we thank you lord for the spirit of worship for the spirit of freedom that is in this place tonight and lord we ask god that you would not lift but god that you would continue to anoint and continue to bless god that you would bless me and anoint me tonight god that i would be lord a mouthpiece for you god that i will deliver lord what you have for your people in jesus name lord we thank you god for all that you've done amen you can be seated we have a couple of statements made here the first statement made by the man wrestling with jacob you could say is a uh angel you could say it's uh what's that word a theophany of jesus no one knows says a man wrestled with jacob we know his name was secret he couldn't give that but he addressed two things with jacob he addressed one as you have power with man we understand when you go back and begin to look at the beginning of jacob's life and the lord tells isaac that there's two nations that are warring inside of rebecca's womb and that the younger is going to rule over the older and whenever they're born isaac comes out first but it's not without a fight esau esau comes out first but it's not without a fight isaac's the dead but esau comes out first and jacob has a hold of his heel whenever he comes out and so there is this natural instinct in jacob to fight there's this natural instinct in jacob to be first and as life goes on we know that the story of jacob continues and and all of a sudden he he has this desire to be number one and we as esau comes in from the field and he's been hunting all day and he's just wore out and here jacob is mixing up his his porridge and and esau tells him says you've got to give me some of that because i'm going to perish i'm going to die and jacob says well what do you have for me he has this natural instinct this salesman-like ability where jacob's not going to be the lesser end of the deal that's just something that is built into jacob he knows how to succeed he knows how to survive and finally he saw having no value on the birthright sells it to him for just a pot of porridge and so he obtains the birthright and later on he obtains the blessing and this time much of the same thing he's trying to figure out how am i going to be first i was born second and i'm not the one that's supposed to obtain the blessing but i've got to figure out how in the world i'm going to get ahead and how in the world i'm going to be first and how in the world i'm going to get in there because esau is the one that this is rightfully given to but i've got to find a way that i'm going to take it i've got to succeed that's something that was in him from birth and that's why we find that he's he's acting the way that he is this is something that's just the instinct that is inside of him and his father blesses him he gets the blessing and and his father begins to bless him and he tells him in the blessing that men are going to serve you that nations are going to serve you that kingdoms are going to bow down to you and so now we understand when we go back the first time what it means to have power with man if anybody was ever born with power with men it was jacob and he has it in the blessing whenever isaac blesses him he's he's shown it in his characteristics whenever he's going forth and so whenever he's wrestling with this man he he's identifying something in jacob he says you have power with men but that's the jacob part of you but i'm about to add another part in there that you're also have power not over no we don't command god to do anything and so whenever we approach him we got to approach him understanding not only are we approaching someone that has a love for us we're approaching someone that wants a intimate relationship with us we're approaching someone that cares for us we're approaching someone that'll pick us up when we fall down but what we cannot forget is that when we approach him not only are we approaching someone that cares deeply for us but we're still approaching the king of kings and lord of lords we're still approaching the one that the bible says that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that jesus christ is lord of lords and so we got to understand that whenever we come before god that we're not just coming for some in front of someone who cares for us we're coming in front of someone who can destroy both body and soul we're coming from in front of someone who is able to keep us from falling we're coming before someone who can step out on the wind on the on the edge of trouble and say peace be still so when we come before god we cannot come and begin to command him to move and so what what he's addressing here is there's something else inside of jacob and he said your name will be no more jacob but israel why because you have power with man and with god what he's addressing is that there is a capability inside of jacob to persuade god to move how how do we persuade god to move the bible says in malachi 3 10 bring all your tithings into the house of god and bring me your offerings try me and see if i won't walk and open up the windows of heaven and pour out blessings on you that you're unable to receive it one of the way that we could cause god to move one of the way that god would get up off of his throne and begin to give to us it's whenever he realizes that we're willing to give back to him i have testimony after testimony after testimony whether through paying tithes or giving in offerings or simply just coming up at the church and working how as soon as i would come up here and do a little bit all of a sudden my phone was ringing with jobs that paid three four times the amount of what would be valued here why because whenever god seen that i was able to move he got off of his throne and he said bubba if you're gonna do that little bit then let me show you what i got and he begins to pour listen church if you want to be blessed and you want to learn how to make god move the bible says it in chapter and verse there's ways to get him off of his throne and there's ways to make him move amen if i was going to title this i forgot to give you that becoming israel how else how else can we make him move how else can we become israel it's written all through the scripture ii chronicles 7 14 if my people would pray and turn from their wicked ways and then i will hear from heaven and i will hear they'll heal their land if we if we would begin to bid to get a prayer life to get a prayer life if you want to see god move we're living in troubled times but if we're going to persuade god to get off of his throne and step out on the balcony of heaven and say peace be still in troubled times then we've got to learn how to hit our knees in an altar and begin to pray with a fervency and begin to repent why because we need god to move he moves he moves when his people pray time after time after time he told us disciples he said these things cometh not but by prayer and by fasting how how else can can we get the kingdom move jesus said what to the woman at the well the woman of samaria jesus saith unto the woman believe me the hour cometh when ye shall neither worship in this mountain nor injure or get ahead of myself ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet in jerusalem worship the father ye worship ye know not what we know what we worship for salvation is of the jews but the hour cometh and now is when the true worshiper shall worship the father in spirit and in truth why for the father seeketh such to worship him whenever you begin to worship the father in spirit and in truth whenever you're living a life that sends praise to god i'm not talking about on sunday morning when things are feeling good in the altar i'm not talking about coming up here and shedding some tears and getting a good feel good warm fuzzy feeling on the inside no worship is when you get up on monday and nobody else is watching and you dress the way you're supposed to dress and you act to school and work the way you're supposed to act whenever you find a place to pray when nobody's watching whenever you say the things you're supposed to say when nobody's watching whenever you're a witness and nobody's watching why you're fulfilling your created purpose jesus said if we hold our peace then the rocks are going to cry out you want to know how those rocks worship sitting there doing nothing because that's exactly what god created them to do when the sun rises in the morning and it sets in the evening it's worship why because it's doing what it was created to do when the moon takes its place it's worship when the tree stands there and offers fruit and shade it's worship when the wind blows its worship how uh how come the one thing that god created for him is the only one that has a problem doing what they're created to do he created us for worshiping him he created us for a relationship he created us because he wanted a bride he created us because he wanted somebody that could make him move and if we don't begin to feel our created purpose and we don't live in such a way that it'll bring god off the throne and cause god to move in such a way that if we're not doing that then the rocks are already crying out the trees are already crying out the sun is already crying out why because they're fulfilling their created purpose they're fulfilling their created purpose the bible says how else can we get him the writer of hebrews said without faith it's possible impossible to please god faith moves god it's a verse i've always heard my whole life probably never truly understood it until i began to see these things in isaiah the bible says yea before the day was i am he and there is none that can deliver thee out of my hand i will work but who shall let me how do you let him work you persuade him to work he told he told joel and joel wrote in chapter two that if the ministers would get a hold of the pillars of the church and begin to pray and cry out and repent he said then i'll move and i'll heal their land and i'll restore the years that the kinker worm hath taken away all those things why what is god saying through all of these scriptures he wants to move he wants to move he wants can i just get a little personal he wants he wants to bring brother jones out of the hospital he wants to move he wants lord help i don't see him but i'm stepping out there anyway he wants to completely heal brother ronnie of sugar diabetes and everything else there he is he wants to do that but we've got to get to a place where we can persuade him we got to get to a place when there's something that's so natural in us that whenever we find a place to pray god shuts everything down and says hang on a minute that's what he called his church to be he didn't call his church to be architects and engineers he didn't call his church to have six figure salaries all those things are fine he didn't say we couldn't do it but that wasn't what he called us to do we could have power with men that was the blessing from birth but the calling is to have power with god the calling is to have power with god not just man we go back and we begin to read the things that are going on now that we got an understanding of what the calling is now that we got an understanding of what that man was telling jacob whenever jacob wrestled with him i didn't just call you to be jacob i didn't just call you to have power with men but now your name's going to be changed to israel because not only do you have power with men but you have power with men and god and he didn't stop there he said and hath prevailed jacob received the blessing for the birthright jacob received the blessing wasn't too long after that that jacob flees because he fears esau and what esau is going to do to him and he finds himself asleep and when he wakes the bible said in genesis 28 15 and behold he sees a ladder going to heaven an angel is ascending and descending god steps out this is before before the actual calling happens and god steps out it begins to blessing and says as the sands of the sea so shall your seed be i'm going to be with you jacob whatever you touch is going to prosper and i'm going to bless you that's just god identifying jacob and who jacob was he was going to physically and monetarily bless him in this world later on we find out whenever he's preparing for esau to meet esau is when the second one happens and he takes his calling a little further and he says not just men no now now we're changing your name to israel because you're going to have power with men and with god it seems at this time that everything jacob does is turn into gold everything he touches is turning to gold the moment in his life when he feared the most of the outcome was when he was going to meet esau and even that turned to gold he's god's with him there's a very evident there's a very evident thing that's a situation that's following him have you ever had those things going for you sometimes i mean it seems like everything you're doing is right you couldn't mess up if somebody paid you to mess up you're making the right business decisions you're making the right everything but it's right after this that becoming israel gets tough it's right after this the things start to spiral out of control a little bit jacob jacob's not used to failure jacob's not used to not getting what he wants from birth this man has figured out a way to be on top and to be in control but he meets this beautiful girl named rachel he works at a deal with laban i'll work seven years you're gonna give her to me oh yeah yeah it's good well we know the story of sunday school stuff gets to the end of the seven years no no i can't i can't let you have the younger one before the older one you got to take leah instead another seven years i'll give you rachel so 14 years 14 years he's worked for this girl this obviously has to be the passion 14 years he's worked for her and i gotta hurry but 14 years he's worked and god's blessed and he's he's laid beside her every night and they had this relationship and and and the bible said that jacob loved her and then all of a sudden she gives him joseph that just made it all better now he's got joseph he's got the son of the promise he's got the one that god promised to him but a little bit later benjamin benjamin is born and whenever benjamin's coming the nurse made rachel's fading fast rachel's about to die and you see this is the first thing that's ever really hit jacob so that high is still there rachel's about to die and she says his name's going to be don't be benoni and and the nurse maid comes and tells jacob this is what the mother said he said no you see he's still living on that high he's still got that blessing he's still got that power he said no no no no he's going to serve the same god i serve and his name is not going to be mononi but it's going to be benjamin because he's the son of my right hand this is the man that knows how to be blessed this is a man that knows what it is to fill god in a revival this is a man that knows what it is to succeed this is a man that knows what it is to have god answer prayers this is a man that knows what it is to dream and be called by god but unfortunately the story doesn't stop there you see if if jacob could read genesis the way we read genesis then everything would be okay but now this promise that god's given him anybody ever feel like god's promised you something anybody ever feel like you're still waiting on it god promised him joseph and now all of a sudden his sons are coming in out of the field he's already sent joseph to see how they fare and now his sons are coming up out of the field with the coat that he had made that he had made joseph and they lay it in front of their father and it's drenching in blood and they say god father is this thy son's coat or no the bible said that this great champion looks at this coat and says without doubt this is my son's coat no doubt an evil beast has devoured him the bible said that this great champion gets up and rinse his clothes and put sackcloth upon his loins it says i'll go down to my grave grieving for my son you know what i wonder pastor where were the search teams if anybody brought me any of my children's clothes i'm not taking that as an answer i've got to see the body but something in jacob this great champion is dying the bible said that he goes into his bed chamber and he refuses to be comforted and nothing nothing leah can do nothing the sons can do are bringing him bringing him out of the state that he's in why because he feels betrayed he feels like god's forsaken him this god that's been buying so long this god that has blessed him this god that has made promises to him now all of a sudden the devils come in and the first thing he did was attacked his passion when he left his passion he went for his promise and when he got his promise he wasn't done there because the next thing he did is went after his praise we find in the scripture that the grandsons of judah displeased god and now here it is this god that jacob already feels like has forgotten him this god that jacob feels like is no longer looking after him his grandsons displease him and god strikes them dead can you imagine the torment that is starting to go through jacob's mind wondering god well i don't understand i i had this calling i had these blessings i never dreamed that i would be in this state i never dreamed that i would find myself here where not only has my passion been attacked and not only has my promise been attacked now my praise is getting attacked and it don't stop there the bible said that judah's wife dies and so now he's lost a daughter-in-law he's lost his father he's lost his wife he's lost his son he lost two grandchildren and now he's lost a daughter-in-law can i ask one question church who are we to say you just don't understand what i'm going through church i know that there's pain i know that there's things that we're going through but this is the time if there was ever another time this is the time where we got to do everything to guard our passion and to guard our promise and to guard our praise because the devil's going to do everything he can to turn our vision away from the one that says if you'll just try me it doesn't stop there now famine is the land and he's been in this famine about two years or so and pastor i don't believe that jacob was backslid at all i don't believe he was bachelor but i i believe that he probably hit this place where he was just kind of going through the motions the faith wasn't there the way it used to be oh he may have been falling on his knees and praying but it wasn't with the same passion that it used to be with and i believe that jacob had pulled up the proverbial chair and said i i don't have it in me i know that god's given me a calling and i know that god's given me these blessings but so many years have gone by and we hadn't seen anything come to fruition yet my calling hadn't developed the way i thought it was going to develop my promise hadn't developed the way i thought it was going to develop i thought i was above life happening to me but along the way life's happened to me and i just don't quite have that same passion that i used to and i'm going to come to church and i'm going to pay my tithes and i'm going to do what i'm supposed to do because i'm going to try to make heaven my home but i just don't have the same calling in the same passion that i used to you know what tells me this because when famine hit instead of turning to god he told his sons take money to egypt you take money to egypt and you buy some grain or else will die this man that depended on god for everything has now gotten to the place where he's depending on himself and a heathen nation he's depending on what's going on in the world he can't he can't get his eyes off of what's going on around him and what's going on around him has begun to dampen you see that's what's really happening here and you know why we know because we've read the book of genesis and we know everything that's about to happen but jacob don't and what's got jacob messed up is instead of keeping his eyes on him instead of keeping his eyes on the one that is able to keep him from falling jacobs got distracted with all the things going on around him does that sound familiar you turn on the news today it'll tell you you'll be dead by the end of the month economy is crashing everything's falling down everything's on fire you know what got naomi and elimelech in trouble they saw there was food and moab that's what got him in trouble and the bible said that when they left and she came back what was her testimony i left full and i came back empty you see what it does whenever you depend on the one that can keep you from falling it doesn't matter what's going on around you it doesn't matter what you're going through it don't matter what kind of trials are keeping you who are coming up against you as long as you've got your hand and as long as you can persuade god to move and as long as you still pray with passion and as long as you still seek god he'll keep you when everything is falling down he'll keep you when it seems like everything around you is destroyed how how on earth how on earth do we become israel after this okay got a few minutes pastor several years ago i remember telling you the story i preached a message about it everybody's had these times everybody's had these these situations i was on the job site my ministry was struggling business was doing okay but that wasn't what god called me to do and i remember just getting frustrated i was on the job by myself and i remember getting frustrated and i took a bucket outside i wish i brought one with me i set that bucket on the ground and i sat down and i said god what are we doing here you see as a youth before we moved up here and i felt like god called us to come up here i felt like god called us to tuscaloosa before we come up here i was a youth pastor in florida i was preaching section one rally section two rallies i i wasn't as good as junior but you know i could shine a light and hit him but uh things were going right i took a youth group of about 15 or 20 and before i left we were running about 55. we were having youth explosions youth rallies god was anointing my ministry everything was going great i feel like god calls us to alabama i feel like when we get up here things have felt they feel right they're working but brother bertrand and brother bertrand knows that my ministry almost died and i mean he would give me a chance and i would get up and and i would just preach and i mean it was just kind of like i was kicking a rock i don't know what was going on but it you know it wasn't the way i was preaching when i was in florida and i couldn't understand what in the world was going on you know what i did i made up my mind i was like that's it i'm not called to preach i'm not called to do this and i sit on that bucket i was like god why what am i doing you called me here and it seems like everything in the world's falling apart it seems like everything everything i've done as far as my ministry is concerned is just flat what are we doing here even with the business i'd get a little money in the bank something happened and drain it out and i'd get money built up and something would drain it out and i'd get money built up something would drain it out i know nobody else has that happen to you and i'm just frustrated and and god gave me an answer and it was a woman in the story of elisha she seemed like all was lost and she come to the prophet and she said i don't know what else i'm going to do you know what else causes god to move desperation sometimes desperation caused him to move faster than anything else and god told me he began to rehearse that story to me and he said it doesn't matter what you got left as long as i've got my hand on it and he reminds me of this story this woman goes he said go gather all the vessels you can find and gather not a few you know why because there was something still inside of her that this world needed church whenever altar calls it i know i know some of us are old and some of us have been through some things and sometimes it feels better sometimes just to sit back instead of participating but you know what happens whenever these young people hit these altars you know what happens whenever sinners hit these altars it's empty vessels you go gather vessels and gather not a few because that anointing that's still in you even though it's just a little bit you can walk up to one and pour to their full and you can walk up to another one and pour it till they're full and you can walk up to another and the poor until they're full why because god didn't call you to be jacob he called you to be israel it doesn't matter what's in your bucket you want to know what the bible said the oil stayed god didn't fill it up but it never ran out the oil stayed there's some of you that are in a place right now and you feel like you're down to your last drop but as long as god has got his hand on that last drop that's all you need that's all the anointing you need that's all the blessings you need that's all the power you need something began to happen in my ministry after i got up off of that bucket something inside of me began to reignite you want to know what happened i began to find the old passion that i used to have i began to find the old promise that i used to have the praise that i used to have began to build up inside of me jacob hit that same moment musicians you could go ahead and come jacob hit the same moment genesis 45 and 25 and they went up out of egypt and came to the land of canaan unto jacob their father and told him saying joseph is yet alive and he is governor over all the land of egypt and the bible said and jacob's heart fainted for he believed them not church you're running through the same thing right now i'm up here trying to tell you that your promise and your calling and your passion is all still alive but you gotta make it up in your mind that god can still use me that god still has a plan for me jacob did the same thing where he had to make it up in his mind am i going to continue to be jacob or am i going to be israel and they told him all the words of joseph which he had said unto them and when they saw him where's my musicians i'm ready to go y'all got lost okay addy's right there i had to make sure she wasn't the one leading the charge she gets lost all the time but the bible said musicians i need help and the bible said and they told him all the words of joseph which he had said unto them and when he saw the wagons sometimes all you need to do is see a little evidence sometimes all you need is to feel that warm fuzzy all over again sometimes all you need is for that anointing to start stirring in you [Music] amen thank god for a pastor that can play and the bible went on to say that when he saw the wagons which joseph had sent to carry him the spirit of jacob their father revived you go ahead and stand that way i feel like you're with me the spirit give me that verse [Music] genesis 45 27. when he sold everything joseph sent to carry him the spirit of jacob their father revived give me the next verse at church this is where i saw it and israel said it is enough brother he hadn't been called israel in a long time you know what he realized he realized his promise was still alive somewhere along the line he also realized his passion wasn't dead why because when it came time concerning his burial rachel wasn't part of the equation he said you buried me with leah passion was still alive the promise was still alive and when it was concerning his praise whenever he was dying he looked at his praise and he said the scepter shall never leave your hand church [Music] all we've got to understand is who it is we're serving the bible says that we're troubled on every side yet not distressed we are perplexed but not in despair we are persecuted but not forsaken say it with me but not forsaken cast down but not destroyed say it again persecuted but not forsaken cast down but not destroyed i've come to preach to somebody this evening these altars are open i ain't got anything else to say other than your promise is still alive your passion is still alive your calling is still alive your praise is still a fight god didn't call us to be jacob god called us to be israel god called us to be somebody that could move him god called us to be somebody that would make him respond you know what [Music] you know what king of hazaris loves so much about esther her whole calling was to make him respond mordecai said you've been called here for such a time as this [Music] he got rid of the other queen because she didn't care she wouldn't make him respond but there was something inside of esther whenever she cloaked herself and she went before the king it made him move [Music] he said what do you want esther i'll give you up to half my kingdom that's what god wants to do for
