Barry Morphew Can't Decide if Suzanne is Dead or Alive

berry berry berry ever since suzanne was reported missing on may 10 barry morpheu has been flip-flopping between telling people a mountain lion killed her or she was kidnapped but he also keeps saying he thinks she's still alive but he didn't help his brother-in-law search for her in september and now he's selling their house let me catch you up [Music] i'm amy with true crime recaps suzanne's big brother andy mormon has a theory about what happened to his sister at her home in salida colorado on mother's day now tell me if you think this makes sense here's what andy told dr phil on october 2nd the odd thing to me was at midnight on saturday night i want you to realize she was seen in town with barry getting a sandwich at 4 4 p.m at midnight somebody friended all of the guys my age on her facebook at midnight my theory is she was killed after four her facebook was manipulated at midnight she was hidden between midnight and 4am on mother's day morning on october 4th barry agreed to talk to reporter jamie leary from denver cbs local without cameras he wanted to say how much he loved his wife and to prove it he showed off these cards from suzanne telling him how much she loved him wait shouldn't shouldn't that be the other way around hmm he also said he thinks suzanne might have been kidnapped from their home and now his family is too afraid to live there anymore but he has faith she's still alive okay but on august 18th he spent almost a half an hour on an unrecorded phone call with reporter lauren scharf from fox 21 telling her he thought a wild animal killed suzanne while she was riding her bike either way he's selling suzanne's home zillow shows it listed at almost 1.8 million dollars her brother thinks suzanne was probably killed in the house but whether you agree with him or not would you spend over a million dollars to live in a house where something like that may or may not have happened and in any case the woman that lived there has totally disappeared good luck selling that buddy barry moves fast that's for sure when suzanne was reported missing on may 10th he told everyone she was killed by a mountain lion officially he didn't have anything to say about it for seven days but then he said this oh suzanne if anyone is out there that can hear this that has you please we'll do whatever it takes to bring you back we love you we miss you your girls need you no questions asked however much they want i will do whatever it takes to get you back honey i love you and i want you back so if he really believed she was kidnapped he sure didn't wait around to try and get her back before he filed for guardianship in indiana on june 1st only 21 days later now that document involves declaring suzanne as incapacitated under indiana law because she could not be located upon reasonable inquiry a form like that requires two close family members to sign off on it suzanne's brother told multiple sources that barry first asked their father to sign the paperwork which is basically asking him to officially agree that his daughter was legally dead only 14 days after she went missing he refused so barry's oldest adult daughter signed off that allowed barry to sell some real estate holdings they had in indiana since then suzanne's friends her brother and some of barry's former employees have revealed more information about what was happening right before and right after suzanne disappeared a lot of what they're saying does not jive with what barry has been telling the police on may 9 suzanne was texting with a friend about a wedding they were going to and then all of a sudden after a long day of texting her messages just stopped may 9th may 9th she was in communication as some folks have reported in the past okay we can verify this is true she was in communication saturday afternoon with her one of her closest friends they were discussing an upcoming coming wedding that everybody that people have heard about okay and they were texting back and forth up until mid evening and then it went silent also on may 9th a woman living next door to the construction site where barry was working heard something very strange the weekend suzanne went missing at first the very first i thought maybe some truck i know they better be parked in my driveway or something but no then it just kept running and it just seemed in the same direction when it was over there and i've been hearing those machines for quite a while and i thought it sounded like one of them running and i sat up in bed and i said there's one of them what's going on this time of night you know that's ridiculous unless they had orders to move it or something so i laid there and listened and kept going and going and going for about a half an hour i finally got up to check and as i opened the back door it stopped and so i thought maybe they were just moving something or what and i saw i did not go out police searched the area for three days in may even tearing into the concrete foundation but found no sign of suzanne in september suzanne's brother led a massive five-day search barry did not help but hundreds of other people did with the support of youtube channel profiling evil andy recruited volunteer hikers cavers and cadaver dogs according to the daily mail and other media andy said the dogs picked up a scent or showed some interest in a plot of land bury owns near pontchas springs they also showed some interest in an area near that construction site where that neighbor was woken up by the sounds of equipment running that's the same area where barry was working that weekend his former employee morgan gentile told lauren scharf from fox 21 that barry was acting very strange about that specific area the day before suzanne disappeared so barry had started working that beach job friday evening and saturday when he picked me up he had asked me to clean it up and break it out because we were going to add the uh bring it up to level so that way it was a beach fan and not look no no need to be flat flat flat now like he was acting really weird about it and i was like very like what's up you know and he seemed like i don't know stressed he definitely seemed weird on saturday i was planning to working all day that day but we only worked till 11 and he said that he had to go make the wife happy do some hiking or biking and i found out like later that day that he was in town all day andy also told the daily mail that cbi are processing three other pieces of evidence they found during their search those are a tarp a towel and a blanket they found on the trails near the morphe house on may 10th barry says suzanne was sleeping when he got on the road around 5 am he was headed to broomfield it's near denver for a job building a retaining wall nancy grace reported that morgan said she heard his truck outside her apartment around 4am that morning and he was texting her and the other contractor with them jeff puckett about the job that next day it's a little early he told the police he wanted to get there a day early to get started and load the equipment into a room at the holiday inn express for safekeeping but then around 6 pm he got a call from his daughters they were telling him they were worried about their mom because no one could get a hold of her to wish her a happy mother's day that is when barry called their closest neighbor asking her to go over and check on suzanne when she came back and told him that the cars were in the garage barry asked her to go back to the house and check to see if suzanne's bike was there it wasn't that's what set up the original theory that suzanne went missing while she was on a mother's day bike ride so here's what morgan told fox 21 about that project in broomfield barry said that he had been up there all day like getting the job ready for us the work that i saw that he did up there wasn't wouldn't have taken him more than 30 minutes so i was just like what what what did you do up there you know like like very emptied out his truck bed is what it looked like like all kinds of stuff that we didn't need to do a retaining wall with jeff that other contractor who was there with morgan told the daily mail there was an overwhelming smell of chlorine and towels all over the floor like barry had just taken a shower his gut reaction the whole setup felt like an alibi in her conversation with fox 21 morgan agreed we opened the door and i mean like the corn hit you and you're like my eyes started watering and burning and like the towels were like super wet on the floor and uh it looked like he had like made the bed before he left but it wasn't made by a hotel clerk suzanne's brother also said that investigators told him there was a strong smell of bleach in the morphe's house when they searched it right after she went missing during his own conversation on august 18th with lauren scharf barry said he knew there were cameras all over the hotel and he was confident that there wouldn't be any evidence on camera of him having done anything wrong because he was totally innocent well sure you didn't do anything wrong at the hotel the police have asked the businesses around that hotel for cctv footage from that weekend you should know that morgan is the woman people originally thought might be having a relationship with barry but not only did they both deny that but morgan has gone above and beyond cooperating with the police and sharing what she knows in the media for example she's the one who told police and the media that the materials never arrived for the job that they were in broomfield to do and here's how she put it to fox 21. she remembers being approached by two men a friend of berries and one of his family members who told her we would give you your paycheck but we don't want it to look like hush-hush money and they're like you have rights but you don't have to give cbi your phone later in that conversation morgan said that she's spoken to investigators at least five times but she didn't take a polygraph it sounds like she and jeff made barry pretty upset she's a mess head too just like jeff she's mad at me because i've fired her and don't let her work for me anymore she's mad so they're not going to say anything good about me no he fired me i think just because i gave up my phone and wasn't staying quiet i was worried i was you know being compliant with cbi in them i felt like if he was innocent he would have like talked to me you know like i worked with him every day for a long time i feel like i'm scared of barry i don't want to see him ever again barry said he's cooperating with the investigation although he's refused to take a polygraph law enforcement have searched his house twice but so far they haven't revealed any additional information that they might have gotten about this case or identified any suspects in suzanne's disappearance but not for lack of trying since may 10 investigators have checked out more than 1 000 tips conducted 180 interviews in colorado and indiana they've done more than 130 searches and all in all they've spent over 4 000 hours
