in</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the small town of</font> Caen<font color="#CCCCCC"> Cardon</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> Ontario on the shores of</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">Lake Huron</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">it's January 14th 1988 it was</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> just</font> another normal<font color="#E5E5E5"> day</font> her two-year-old son<font color="#E5E5E5"> Ben is sitting next</font> to her in the<font color="#E5E5E5"> front seat little Dustin</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">just 11 months old is nodding off</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> slowly</font> in his<font color="#CCCCCC"> car seat in the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> back</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> I went</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> for a</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">little tries to make sure that he was</font> asleep<font color="#E5E5E5"> it was easier than we can among</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">our pain taking to bank just</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> before</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> 1</font> p.m. <font color="#E5E5E5">Julie pulls into the parking lot of this</font> downtown Royal Bank she says dusty<font color="#E5E5E5"> is fast asleep in the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">back and better than I went into the</font> bank<font color="#E5E5E5"> we waited in line which we normally</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">would do with our favorite Oliver's</font> working her favorite teller<font color="#E5E5E5"> always gave</font> the boys balloons<font color="#CCCCCC"> and today she gives</font> them<font color="#E5E5E5"> to one for Ben and another to take</font> back to<font color="#E5E5E5"> dusty their lives are</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> about to</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">change forever as Julie and Ben make</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> short walk back to the car Julie looks into the back seat where dusty was sleeping the car seat is empty<font color="#E5E5E5"> dusty</font> just<font color="#CCCCCC"> one month shy of his first birthday</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">gone</font> I wasn't<font color="#E5E5E5"> working</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> I had gone in</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to pick</font> something<font color="#E5E5E5"> up at the office when the call</font> came in Dave Quinn was a concordant police constable on that day back<font color="#CCCCCC"> in 1988 I</font> just grabbed a radio and went on foot <font color="#E5E5E5">and I was there in a matter of a couple</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">minutes</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> you were the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> first cop on the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">scene</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> and</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> what you find there was a</font> young<font color="#E5E5E5"> woman screaming in Haller rocking</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">back and forth she was hysterical</font> she appeared to be what was she saying <font color="#E5E5E5">just the baby's gone the baby's gone</font> quickly after<font color="#CCCCCC"> the disappearance</font> provincial police were called to<font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> town to<font color="#E5E5E5"> help local officers within</font> minutes police put<font color="#CCCCCC"> up roadblocks</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> in the</font> small town of<font color="#E5E5E5"> 6,000 whereas the welcome</font> sign reads<font color="#CCCCCC"> you're a stranger only once</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">in just a</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> few</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> hours</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the entire town</font> knows<font color="#CCCCCC"> the terrifying news</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> that a baby is</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">missing I don't know I just</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> feel</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">terrible for the parents police organize</font> search parties<font color="#E5E5E5"> and volunteers hand out</font> flyers with Dusty's description<font color="#CCCCCC"> just</font> can't<font color="#CCCCCC"> believe is just</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> incredible</font> you know in a<font color="#E5E5E5"> place like this you just</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">don't think about it constable Dave</font> Quinn<font color="#E5E5E5"> who's now retired but</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> still</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> lives</font> in Caen<font color="#CCCCCC"> Cardin recalls there was</font> something about that<font color="#E5E5E5"> unlocked car that</font> bothered him right<font color="#CCCCCC"> away you looked into</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">the</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> backseat</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> of her car and felt a</font> little<font color="#E5E5E5"> suspicious almost immediately the</font> car seat buckles were still done up <font color="#CCCCCC">which struck me</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> as odd because</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> if you're</font> going<font color="#E5E5E5"> to take a child why would you take</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">the time to</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> read it up to buckles did</font> you feel almost<font color="#E5E5E5"> immediately that there's</font> more to<font color="#CCCCCC"> this than</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> what she say I</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">definitely had some suspicions</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> I just</font> didn't have a good<font color="#CCCCCC"> feeling about it</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">dread takes hold as each hour passes I</font> just went<font color="#E5E5E5"> whoever took</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> my little</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> boy to</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">bring</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> back to me in this TV interview</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">next to her husband John and son Ben</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">Julie pleads for</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Dusty's return</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> of the</font> car when I came<font color="#E5E5E5"> back constable Quinn</font> says police<font color="#E5E5E5"> focused their search in the</font> downtown area<font color="#CCCCCC"> we had done a canvass of</font> all the Main Street<font color="#E5E5E5"> areas and the back</font> alleys of<font color="#CCCCCC"> what have you so it's just</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> a</font> matter<font color="#CCCCCC"> of kind</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> of trying to</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> figure out</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">where we were going to go from there</font> night falls<font color="#CCCCCC"> and still no sign of dusty</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">the next day Julie goes into the police</font> station<font color="#CCCCCC"> to</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> try to get an update on the</font> search<font color="#E5E5E5"> this was the moment when Dave</font> Quinn says everything changed what does Julie say to you<font color="#E5E5E5"> she said</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> she</font> had a dream<font color="#E5E5E5"> that the baby was out in the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">snow</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> near some trees what are you</font> thinking I'm thinking<font color="#CCCCCC"> we're going</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to</font> know where the<font color="#E5E5E5"> baby is you had that</font> feeling<font color="#E5E5E5"> before she no doubt about it in</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">fact I remember saying very clearly</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">before I left the office I think</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> we will</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">find the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> baby</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">Julie Bowers told police if I saw the</font> place I think<font color="#CCCCCC"> I would recognize</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> place <font color="#CCCCCC">Dave Quinn retraces the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> route he took</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">with Julie Bowers back in 1988 the Julie</font> sitting right where<font color="#E5E5E5"> I am</font> yes<font color="#E5E5E5"> she was sitting in the front</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> seat</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">and my partner Brian</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Farris was in the</font> back Julie tells constable Quinn<font color="#E5E5E5"> to</font> drive<font color="#E5E5E5"> away from</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> downtown the trio</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> on a</font> McCobb mission to find a baby who'd now been missing for 25 hours<font color="#CCCCCC"> told</font> us where to stop and where to turn and and she was<font color="#E5E5E5"> holding her stomach and</font> rocking back and forth in<font color="#E5E5E5"> the car and</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">kind of moaning</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> at one point she</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> started</font> to kind<font color="#E5E5E5"> of bang her head on the back of</font> the headrest and I put my hand behind her head I was concerned that<font color="#CCCCCC"> she was</font> going to injure herself<font color="#E5E5E5"> Quinn says Julie</font> directs him<font color="#CCCCCC"> to drive past the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> hospital</font> down<font color="#CCCCCC"> a side road and then back</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to the</font> highway<font color="#E5E5E5"> known locally as</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> b-line they</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">pass McConnell drive when says Julie</font> tells him to<font color="#E5E5E5"> turn</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> back and go down that</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">road</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> I noticed off to my right what</font> appeared<font color="#E5E5E5"> to</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> me to be footprints going</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">off into the wooded area Quinn says he</font> doesn't<font color="#E5E5E5"> mention the footprints but gets</font> out<font color="#CCCCCC"> of the cruiser</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> and walks towards</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">them</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">julie</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> bowers joins him a moment later</font> and<font color="#CCCCCC"> we'd walked</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> past what I felt were</font> footprints<font color="#CCCCCC"> she stopped</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> right smack in</font> front<font color="#E5E5E5"> of them she just stopped started</font> to<font color="#E5E5E5"> yell and pointing to the bush it's</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">there</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Sarah I can see him I can see him</font> he's there she immediately wanted<font color="#CCCCCC"> to run</font> into the woods<font color="#E5E5E5"> and I grabbed her Dave</font> Quinn puts Julie into the back<font color="#CCCCCC"> of the</font> cruiser<font color="#E5E5E5"> then he looks into the woods</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">there four</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> meters in he can see</font> something blue a little<font color="#CCCCCC"> snowsuit it had snowed a bit</font> and it was<font color="#E5E5E5"> a covering of snow over top</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">of the child it was dusty Bowers</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> tears</font> had<font color="#CCCCCC"> frozen on the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> toddler's face his</font> pale blue toque had slipped over his eyes thirty<font color="#E5E5E5"> years has passed</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> do you still see</font> that image does<font color="#CCCCCC"> that image so</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> yeah</font> absolutely you know there's only been probably two or three<font color="#E5E5E5"> cases over the</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> years that stick</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">with</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> you real clear an</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> OPP crime scene</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">officer arrived to take photos and</font> measurements<font color="#CCCCCC"> after an hour</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> he scooped up</font> the<font color="#E5E5E5"> baby</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> and</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> walked towards Dave</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Quinn I</font> grabbed a<font color="#CCCCCC"> bird she blanket and lay</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> down</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">the snow</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> that officer</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> that brought</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> baby out<font color="#E5E5E5"> handed it to me and I</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> put the</font> baby<font color="#E5E5E5"> down</font> so you took Dusty's body<font color="#E5E5E5"> and lay it on</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">the blanket</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> because he just couldn't</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">bear the thought</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> of him laying in the</font> snow<font color="#E5E5E5"> no I just couldn't put it down</font> had nothing to do<font color="#CCCCCC"> with preserving</font> evidence<font color="#CCCCCC"> I just could not</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> put that baby</font> back<font color="#E5E5E5"> on the ground did anyone try to</font> resuscitate him<font color="#CCCCCC"> I</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> seen enough dead</font> bodies to know when somebody's<font color="#CCCCCC"> dead and</font> in my<font color="#E5E5E5"> opinion the child was deceased</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> a</font> coroner arrived and pronounced Dustin <font color="#E5E5E5">Bauer's dead</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> the Crown attorney</font> delivered the tragic<font color="#CCCCCC"> news to the</font> community the body of Dustin Bowers was found<font color="#E5E5E5"> at approximately 3:00 p.m. this</font> afternoon and then the<font color="#CCCCCC"> unthinkable</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">Julie</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> powers the mother of the deceased</font> Dustin<font color="#E5E5E5"> Bowers they</font> have recovered the body<font color="#E5E5E5"> of Dustin</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Bowers</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">and accusations of murder</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> if you color="#CCCCCC"> to them</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> at the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">time he was considered a medical</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> God a</font> pediatric pathologist<font color="#E5E5E5"> at Toronto's</font> world-renowned<font color="#E5E5E5"> Hospital for Sick</font> Children<font color="#E5E5E5"> he was about to testify that</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">Julie Bowers could have left dusty in</font> the snow<font color="#E5E5E5"> before she reported him missing</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">in a case with no motive no physical</font> evidence<font color="#CCCCCC"> and</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> only a dream Charles</font> Smith's testimony was vital important part of the case<font color="#CCCCCC"> was the timing where</font> Julie Bowers reported the child he wasn't<font color="#CCCCCC"> frozen so no he had a cold</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">injury on his cheek he</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> had some effects</font> of cold<font color="#E5E5E5"> on</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> his vocal</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> cords but there was</font> no damage<font color="#CCCCCC"> to any of his tissues any of</font> his organs there was nothing<font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> evidence<font color="#E5E5E5"> absolutely did</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> not confirm the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">state's theory that this child had</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> been</font> put outside<font color="#E5E5E5"> before she called the alarm</font> it just didn't<font color="#E5E5E5"> 100%</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> 100% not crown</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">attorney Brian farmer watched as his</font> case was dealt a major blow by an expert with a lot<font color="#E5E5E5"> of credibility</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> I was stunned</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">I was stunned because</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> when we found out</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">of her about her existence of course we</font> did some<font color="#E5E5E5"> raise some doubt but</font> absolutely devastated the case<font color="#E5E5E5"> but the biggest and</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> most</font> heartbreaking twist<font color="#E5E5E5"> was yet to come</font> you dropped a bombshell<font color="#E5E5E5"> in your</font> testimony<font color="#E5E5E5"> at Julie Bauer's trial right</font> it's my<font color="#E5E5E5"> belief that the</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> most</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> likely time</font> that dusty died was when he was<font color="#CCCCCC"> in the</font> bag<font color="#E5E5E5"> being transported to Toronto for</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">autopsy you believe dusty Bowers died in</font> the body<font color="#E5E5E5"> bag yes I do</font> absolutely it was unthinkable<font color="#CCCCCC"> and devastating</font> testimony<font color="#E5E5E5"> that dusty bowers may have</font> been alive<font color="#CCCCCC"> when he was</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> discovered</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> and</font> then left<font color="#E5E5E5"> for hours on that wooded Lane</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">way what was that</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> moment like in court</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">well two to three jurors stood up and</font> bent<font color="#E5E5E5"> over I thought they were going to</font> be sick that was their reaction other jurors<font color="#E5E5E5"> you</font> could see them physically wincing<font color="#E5E5E5"> I</font> thought oh man<font color="#CCCCCC"> we're in serious</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> trouble</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">a shocking new theory there's a problem</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">ignored by the police they didn't do an</font> investigation<font color="#E5E5E5"> of the case when</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> w5</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">continues</font> welcome back<font color="#E5E5E5"> outside</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> of a</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> Canadian</font> courtroom<font color="#CCCCCC"> to</font> resuscitate dusty<font color="#E5E5E5"> he was left on the</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">side of</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the road for more than three</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">hours</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> and then spent another three hours</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">in a body bag</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">being transported to a Toronto morgue</font> well what's that<font color="#E5E5E5"> like</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> for you</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to find</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">that out joy</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> on that dusty</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> bowers may</font> have been alive<font color="#CCCCCC"> when he was found no it</font> was horrible <font color="#CCCCCC">Joanne footprints that were found <font color="#E5E5E5">near Dusty's body those police officers</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">did not ever</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> measure</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the depth of those</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">footprints the distance between them or</font> do<font color="#CCCCCC"> anything</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to identify whether or not</font> Julie could have made<font color="#E5E5E5"> those prints</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> and</font> that<font color="#CCCCCC"> wasn't all</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> Julie's car was left out</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">in the cold unprotected and by the time</font> police<font color="#E5E5E5"> dusted for prints they had all</font> disintegrated Dusty's clothes<font color="#E5E5E5"> were never sent for</font> forensic analysis<font color="#E5E5E5"> and they never found a</font> mystery<font color="#E5E5E5"> man one of several complicating</font> factors in the case involves an unidentified man<font color="#E5E5E5"> he was seen</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> by a</font> witness<font color="#E5E5E5"> carrying a child dressed like</font> Dustin<font color="#CCCCCC"> from a parking</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> lot at about the</font> same<font color="#E5E5E5"> time</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Judy Bauer's claims the</font> abduction<font color="#E5E5E5"> round him<font color="#E5E5E5"> he was just laying</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">there</font> but Julie insists it wasn't the<font color="#E5E5E5"> dream</font> that led police<font color="#CCCCCC"> to the body she says she</font> just wanted<font color="#E5E5E5"> them to search anywhere</font> other than downtown<font color="#E5E5E5"> they</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> described a</font> scene<font color="#E5E5E5"> of you leading them no to Dusty's</font> body<font color="#CCCCCC"> I</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> asked them where they had already</font> searched and they told me<font color="#CCCCCC"> that they had</font> searched everywhere downtown<font color="#CCCCCC"> and then I</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">said them well why</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> aren't you searching</font> further<font color="#E5E5E5"> out of</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> downtown</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> them and</font> then they<font color="#E5E5E5"> just said which way do you</font> want<font color="#E5E5E5"> to go and I was given the choice of</font> going<font color="#E5E5E5"> left or right</font> Julie chose right out of<font color="#E5E5E5"> town</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> where</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">police admittedly hadn't yet searched</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">she says that over the</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> next 20 minutes</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">constable Dave Quinn and his partner</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">drove her up and down roads north of</font> downtown and<font color="#CCCCCC"> Quinn's seem to be getting</font> frustrated<font color="#E5E5E5"> almost like he was gonna give</font> up and go<font color="#E5E5E5"> back into town and I asked</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">them to keep</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> driving Bauer says down at</font> the end of McConnell Drive<font color="#CCCCCC"> they turned</font> around and<font color="#E5E5E5"> Dave Quinn got out of the car</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">Quinn was up the road and he'd start and</font> we caught up<font color="#CCCCCC"> to him and as I stood and</font> stood<font color="#E5E5E5"> beside him I saw something</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> I saw</font> something and I screamed that<font color="#E5E5E5"> blew</font> Dusty's<font color="#E5E5E5"> snowsuit peeking out from the</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">snow and the next thing</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> I'm being thrown</font> into the back of<font color="#E5E5E5"> a police car and taken</font> back down to the police<font color="#CCCCCC"> station no idea</font> what<font color="#E5E5E5"> was</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> going on</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> no idea it's the same</font> story<font color="#E5E5E5"> Julie told the jury back when she</font> was<font color="#CCCCCC"> a 26</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> year old trying to convince</font> them she didn't kill her son about<font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">dream she testified she didn't</font> even think it meant<font color="#CCCCCC"> anything but</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> it was</font> her sister-in-law Helen who insisted she color="#CCCCCC"> Van Koski has been</font> questioning<font color="#CCCCCC"> Sears about his actions the</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">day</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Bauer's reported her son missing</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> the</font> focus was timing<font color="#CCCCCC"> John claims that when</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">Julie reported dusty missing he was 30</font> minutes<font color="#CCCCCC"> away at his sister Lynne's house</font> but<font color="#CCCCCC"> Lyn testified that he left her house</font> a full hour earlier that means<font color="#E5E5E5"> at the</font> critical<font color="#CCCCCC"> moment</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> when Julie claims dusty</font> was abducted John's whereabouts<font color="#E5E5E5"> are in question the</font> defense also raised suspicions about the <font color="#E5E5E5">route</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> John said he</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> took this was John's</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">regular route home but the day a lot</font> more bizarre than<font color="#E5E5E5"> a mother dreaming of</font> her missing child <font color="#E5E5E5">Joanne mcclain was one of Julie Bauer's</font> lawyers<font color="#E5E5E5"> it sounds like something out of</font> a movie<font color="#CCCCCC"> he's giving an explanation for</font> being on a road<font color="#E5E5E5"> that would put him near</font> where the child was<font color="#CCCCCC"> taken</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> from after</font> dusty was reported missing <font color="#E5E5E5">Julie was constantly with either police</font> or family<font color="#CCCCCC"> that can't be said about</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> her</font> twin brother's wife Helen<font color="#CCCCCC"> the woman who</font> insisted Julie tell police<font color="#CCCCCC"> about her</font> dream Helen testified that she<font color="#CCCCCC"> went out</font> the night<font color="#E5E5E5"> of Dusty's disappearance</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> at a</font> time evidence<font color="#CCCCCC"> suggests the toddler may</font> have been abandoned<font color="#E5E5E5"> she claims she went</font> to the<font color="#CCCCCC"> hospital to get sleeping pills</font> for<font color="#E5E5E5"> Julie but to hospital nurses</font> testified they had no record<font color="#CCCCCC"> and no</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">memory of such a visit</font> and later that night<font go</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> home and</font> hug my<font color="#CCCCCC"> son some of these cheering</font> members<font color="#E5E5E5"> stayed in touch</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> with you</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> after</font> the trial yeah that's something<font color="#CCCCCC"> Crown</font> attorney<font color="#E5E5E5"> Brian farmer never knew until</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">now what do you make</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> of the fact that</font> jury members stayed in<font color="#E5E5E5"> touch</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> with Julie</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">oh boy</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> that's a toughy that's news to me</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">Wow</font> I'm amazed I've never heard of anything <font color="#E5E5E5">like that</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> in my life never</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> my conclusion</font> is with those jurors it was beyond<font color="#E5E5E5"> just</font> not proving the case<font color="#CCCCCC"> they came to a</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">different</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> conclusion</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> that she did</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> not do</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">exactly that is really something I take</font> me a few<font color="#CCCCCC"> weeks to</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> just to think</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> about</font> that the lawyer who tried<font color="#CCCCCC"> to convince a</font> jury<font color="#E5E5E5"> that Julie Bowers was a murderer is</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">not convinced himself</font> I can't<font color="#CCCCCC"> imagine having someone convicted</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">of something and the later thinking</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> whoo</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">that was opportunity to listen</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> to her in</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">combination with all of that other</font> evidence<font color="#E5E5E5"> and they obviously believe what</font> she said<font color="#CCCCCC"> and how do I disagree with that</font> for<font color="#CCCCCC"> the first time in more than two</font> years <font color="#CCCCCC">Juli Bowers had something to smile about</font> I didn't know what do you<font color="#CCCCCC"> think</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> I've</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">come this far in the past two years and</font> all I know is that I've I've been innocent<font color="#CCCCCC"> since the day it</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> happened</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">person that took him and left him</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> die</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">in the snow is still out there</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> on those</font> streets<font color="#CCCCCC"> today</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> that remains the nagging</font> question if Julie Bowers didn't abandon her son<font color="#E5E5E5"> to die who did in fairness to</font> Julie's<font color="#CCCCCC"> family members who</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> were</font> implicated by the defense we contacted Julie's twin brother<font color="#E5E5E5"> John</font> his now ex-wife Helen<font color="#E5E5E5"> and older color="#E5E5E5"> interview</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> John replied</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">sorry not interested Allen wrote simply</font> she got away<font color="#E5E5E5"> with murder</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> the local</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">newspaper still has every single article</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">ever published</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> about Julie Bowers this</font> is a case that<font color="#E5E5E5"> dominated the headlines</font> for years<font color="#E5E5E5"> from when she was charged with</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">first-degree murder</font> to her surprise acquittal<font color="#E5E5E5"> and when Julie</font> briefly came back to live<font color="#CCCCCC"> in Caen Cardon</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">it's strange to see color="#E5E5E5"> me you</font> know think that<font color="#E5E5E5"> this case</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> should be</font> reinvestigated<font color="#E5E5E5"> and after the verdict</font> that's exactly what people expected would happen<font color="#E5E5E5"> because dusty</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> Bauer's death</font> was now a murder without a convicted <font 14 1990 in it police say</font> the defense strongly suggested that <font color="#E5E5E5">other members</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> of the</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> accused's family</font> had the opportunity to commit<font color="#CCCCCC"> the crime</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">and yet the memo concludes</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> no further</font> information<font color="#CCCCCC"> of probative value has come</font> to the attention<font color="#CCCCCC"> of the investigators</font> this file is closed<font color="#E5E5E5"> there's no</font> indication<font color="#E5E5E5"> that police ever looked for</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">any other suspects</font> Julie Bauer's lawyer<font color="#CCCCCC"> Joanne</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> McLean says</font> once again<font alternate suspects I'm not aware of the investigators at that time going<font color="#E5E5E5"> out and</font> trying<font color="#E5E5E5"> to substantiate or refute the</font> <font color="#CCCCCC">defence theories or arguments when I</font> look at<font color="#E5E5E5"> this confidential report where</font> the OPP<font color="#E5E5E5"> investigator specifically</font> mentions the alternate theory and then shows nothing<font color="#CCCCCC"> to</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> explain what was done</font> to<font color="#E5E5E5"> follow up on that</font><font color="#CCCCCC"> theory it surprises</font> me when<font color="#E5E5E5"> I read that report I don't see</font> that as a notation<font color="#CCCCCC"> that</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> required further</font> investigation<font color="#E5E5E5"> even so now for the first</font> time in 30 years<font color="#CCCCCC"> the dusty Bowers murder</font> case<font color="#E5E5E5"> will get new life we appreciate</font> <font color="#E5E5E5">what w5 has done by raising questions</font> about the<font color="#E5E5E5"> trial process and as a result</font> we have reassigned this case<font
