Here's why Barry Morphew is Suspect #1!

when no one in the family could get a hold of suzanne to wish her a happy mother's day that's when barry called their closest neighbor to ask her to go over and check on suzanne by this time it was almost six o'clock at night the cars were in the garage but barry asked the neighbor to check to see if her bike was there it wasn't from there the narrative quickly turned into suzanne morphy went missing while on a mother's day bike ride but today we're going to talk about a different scenario one in which the bike was just a prop to set up the timing and in actuality the real crime happened much earlier suzanne's family is asking the public to shine a light to keep her memory alive so let's do that let's shine a light on the one person who seems to want to stay out of it her husband barry a real man of mystery [Music] i'm amy with true crime recaps and i want us to take a closer look at what actually happened on mother's day weekend using new information provided to profiling evil by suzanne's family her husband barry said he was out of town setting up for a landscaping job in denver the last he saw was a sleeping suzanne when he left the house that morning around 5am their two daughters were also out of town on a camping trip now suzanne's daughters last heard from her on friday may 8th then this happened on saturday so may 9th may 9th may 9th she was in communication as some folks have reported in the past okay we can verify this is true she was in communication saturday afternoon with her one of her closest friends they were discussing an upcoming coming wedding that everybody that people have heard about okay and they were texting back and forth up until mid-evening and then it went silent saturday night or saturday evening okay that friend has not heard from her girlfriend who was planning on attending and or being in that wedding covered 19 providing they were talking about the details okay that is a game changer interesting barry is a volunteer firefighter an avid hunter and the owner of a landscaping company at the time suzanne disappeared his company was working on a construction site in salida about 12 miles from his house on may 9th that same night her text messages suddenly stopped the woman living next door to that construction site remembers being woken up by the sound of the equipment running late at night at first the very first i thought maybe some truck i know they better be parked in my driveway or something but no then it just kept running and it just seemed in the same direction when it was over there and i've been hearing all this noise for i could say quite a while i've been hearing those machines for quite a while and i thought it sounded like one of them running and i sat up in bed and i said there's one of them what's going on this time of night you know that's ridiculous unless they had orders to move it or something so i laid there and listened and it kept going and going and going for about a half an hour i finally got up to check and as i opened the back door it stopped and so i thought maybe they were just moving something or what and i saw i did not go out she said she asked the crew the next day if they left the keys to the equipment on the site and they said they did but they were hidden now i'm gonna take a wild guess and speculate that the owner of the company would probably know where those keys were hidden police thought so too they set up camp on may 21st and searched the site for three days even tearing it to the concrete foundation but found no sign of suzanne on may 10th no one was able to reach suzanne and that's when around 5 45 barry called his neighbor and asked her to go and check on the house and specifically to check and see if suzanne's bike was there that bike her helmet and another unnamed personal item were found in a ravine that same day less than a mile from her house the bicycle was not ridden over the hill it was thrown there by human hands suzanne would never leave her home or her daughters there's just no way and she's hidden way too well a predator doesn't do that a robber doesn't do that this is something other than that i didn't physically get to see the bike but i talked to the investigators they told me at least the wheels weren't bent nothing was tore up on the bike and there was no signs of a struggle and from that moment on i thought sure that this was foul play barry said he was 150 miles away in denver loading tools into a room at the holiday inn express for safe keeping for a construction job which was supposed to start the following week that's the reason he said he was going to be gone on mother's day but when he had to leave to go back to maysville in a rush because his wife had vanished he called in one of his contractors to come take over so in an exclusive interview with dailymail.com that contractor jeff puckett said i got there sunday night and the room smelled like chlorine real bad it was his room and he'd taken a shower his towels were all over the floor a manager confirmed to the daily mail that the hotel does not use chlorine to clean guest rooms and they've given security footage from that weekend to the police barry's contractor also said he found some of barry's personal mail in the room when he got there including a letter about property insurance all of which he turned over to the fbi also and this is very strange barry told the police and family he was gone on mother's day to set up for that urgent landscaping job and he wanted specifically saying this he wanted to get his tools stored in the hotel room ahead of time but according to what his contractor told the daily mail when he got to the room there were no tools there and no actual job even though he waited at the hotel for two days but he never actually went to the job site he went home to salida two days later and hasn't heard from barry since even though he did get paid his gut reaction the whole setup felt like an alibi and he got back to maysville around nine o'clock that night but then later it was discovered that data collected from barry's truck didn't match up with what he told investigators according to a tip box 21 got from an anonymous source in suzanne's family and what did barry do in response to the disappearance of his wife of almost 30 years well it might be easier to tell you what he didn't do he didn't plaster suzanne's picture all over town the way you might do when say your dog goes missing instead on may 12th barry knocked on the window of a store near their home and handed the store manager this note asking her to keep an eye out for his wife yep just this baby blue bike helmet biker's clothing he didn't make a plea to the public for information about her disappearance right away in fact he waited a full week before he released this super short video on facebook oh suzanne if anyone is out there that can hear this that has you please we'll do whatever it takes to bring you back we love you we miss you your girls need you no questions asked however much they want i will do whatever it takes to get you back honey i love you i want you back a couple strange things there everything about this video was very controlled it's short rehearsed produced released through a facebook page i mean and he doesn't seem to be overly emotional and then he ran into youtuber tyson draper in late may and had yet another strange conversation so we've searched a 200 mile radius what really all of the mountains have been covered so far but obviously we're gonna miss things in the video barry describes where suzanne's bike was found off county road 225 near their maysville home and the condition it was in destroyed or something i don't know i don't know the word he used but he said that there was something wrong with the front wheel and then he changed the subject and started going on to something else barry also told tyson where he was the day his wife vanished having a job in denver and it's very out of the ordinary for him barry didn't tell tyson if or where he had searched that day however tyson believes he saw barry searching the day before he was wet cold and distraught and it looked like he was out searching or doing something the closest homes to the moreview property are vacation rentals and were empty at the time of her disappearance i was quite shocked at how liberal he was with this information like one theory after another and i was trying to process it all in the moment like what's going on like why is this guy i don't know i don't understand what's going on he's telling me all this stuff and and um i don't really know why i thought at some point he would just stop and say well you know who are you and you know that's kind of the gist of it what do you think or but it was just he was just on a on a roll only a day or two after that on june 1st barry filed for guardianship in indiana where they'd lived up until their move to colorado in 2018. apparently he really needed to sell some of the real estate they jointly owned in indiana and to do that he needed guardianship crime online got a copy of the pending petition from the court which stated that suzanne morphy is deemed incapacitated under indiana law because she cannot be located upon reasonable inquiry sheesh man this was less than a month after her disappearance sure didn't give those kidnappers much of a chance to ask for a ransom and release detectives searched the morphe house for a week when suzanne was first reported missing then they came back with another search warrant on july 9th as fox 21 reporter lauren scharf said that's not easy to do without probable cause but we don't have any more details about what exactly they were looking for investigators even traveled to indiana to question barry and suzanne's friends and family including her brother andy mormon who was surprised to learn that barry had refused to take a polygraph so i was sitting there and the guy said you know why don't you think barry did this and i said well because you guys have investigated me you're good at what you do you've interrogated him for hours upon hours upon hours i said he's passed lie detector test voice analysis and he stopped me right there he said wait a minute first off he's not been cooperating with us and secondly he refused the voice analysis and lie detector early on i was like what barry broke his silence on august 18th in a 25 minute phone call with lauren scharf from fox 21. he didn't want to talk in person and he refused to let her record the call good thing she took a lot of notes because according to lauren barry has a lot of theories about what might have happened to suzanne he's still running with the theory that an animal dragged her off her bike and away from the scene even though law enforcement shot that down early on in the investigation barry also speculated that maybe she'd run into someone on the road who knew her well which is a very strange theory because by all accounts suzanne was the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet so who would have any motivation to hurt her he even floated a theory about a disgruntled ex-employee to his brother-in-law the one guy that when we were building the wall last fall i had to fire him off the job because he was on drugs and he's part of the reason the wall was crooked and he threatened me and one week ago he said i ran into him in town and told him to leave me and my family alone or else and i said okay did you tell the police that he said yes i did uh i said how did you pay your employees he said mostly by check i said was your home address on that check yeah i said did you have any of those employees in the neighborhood he said yeah the one guy i'm talking about was out here he did some staining on some houses and uh did a little odd jobs around here i got him some work out here in the neighborhood keeping these airbnbs up so i said he knew where he lived oh yeah i said did you meet him here to take him to a job site no usually they drove i said what does he drive and he said he said at that time he said i'm not really sure there's so many cars show up i don't know who drives what um so that pretty well ended that conversation that evening notice every scenario hinges on the fact that suzanne was alive and well and on a bike ride on may 10th in that phone call with fox 21 barry says the cops are trying to cover up the fact that they botched the crime scene and now they're trying to blame suzanne's disappearance on him barry says my buddy was there right after that and he said that they completely destroyed the evidence and he tried to stop them but they wouldn't listen to him and said this is not csi just days ago suzanne's brother told fox 21 that before she vanished he didn't think there were problems with suzanne and barry's marriage but now he says he's learned new things about their relationship and he's saying i think there's a friend that she texted a lot and talked to that she confided in and maybe things weren't so hunky-dory now could that be the friend that she was texting on may 9th before she suddenly dropped out of the conversation apparently barry is worth over 2 million dollars which is a lot of motive if there was some sort of separation or divorce looming between them and then there's one more thing suzanne beat non-hodgkin's lymphoma when she was a teenager and then it came back around the time the family was moving to colorado in 2018 according to a friend in indiana suzanne wasn't doing well at the time but she beat it again and got her last chemo treatment in october 2019 but she was still going in for maintenance treatments she even had an appointment scheduled for monday may 11th the day after she disappeared now is that timing coincidental or another red flag it's been more than three months since suzanne vanished and now her brother andy is resigned to trying to find her body he's organizing a massive search of the area starting september 24th we're going to gather four-wheelers i need mountain bikers i need hikers i need rock climbers i need cavers i need divers could use some drone activity out there that would be gratefully helpful and if you come bring your iphone with you bring your cell phone because they'll set up a grid search and they'll ping our phones as we move they'll mark off areas and take us to another area um i have two of the benghazi survivors that are going to help us out there they're going to coordinate all the gps so this is going to turn into a huge effort and i really need all the help i can get pretty much doing exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to see from a grieving husband but barry has been far from what most of us would consider grieving at least not in public nancy gray summed it up best in an interview she did with lauren scharf from fox 21. you know he told me that there's not one ounce of evidence against him and wait wait wait wait lauren you got to understand you're on the scene you're getting the information fast and furious but i have to analyze what you're telling me so the first and what's this the first gist of what he had to say is there's no evidence against me you can't prove it what about where is my wife i wake up in the morning the she's not there we don't have our hot tea together i mean i i'm in i'm in living hell what what about that was there any of that however in that phone call with fox 21 barry insisted that he continues to search
