Baldur's Gate 3: How To Get The Owlbear Cub

although Boulder's Gate 3 has an interesting cast of companions none are quite as fearsome or adorable as the owl bear cub unfortunately getting the Cub takes some effort and a lot of time but adding the mystical owl bear to your Camp is entirely worth it these half bare half-hour creatures were some of the earliest monsters in Dungeons and Dragons first appearing in its supplementary rulebook gray Hall however Alberts no longer need to be feared as one of their cubs can now be added to your camp in Baldur's Gate free an owl bear and his curb can be found in a cave between the Druid Grove and the blighted village just north of the bridge and close to where you'll find scratch the dog on screen you can see the cave specific location and coordinates once you enter the cave and get close enough to the owl bear a cut scene will begin at this point you'll be able to either use an animal handling to study the owl Bear's Behavior back away by passing a survival check buff out your chest and raw by passing a performance check or just attack it passing the animal handling check will expose the owl bear cub which the owl bear is clearly protecting you can then either hold out your hands to show it you mean no harm move towards it back away slowly or just attack it should be noted that any failed checks or hostile Behavior will lead to the Albert attacking you and your party otherwise the owl bear will allow you to leave the cave you can also talk to the owl bear if you have a means of speaking to animals this option remains largely the same though you cannot approach the owl bear without starting a fight walking away and leaving the owl bear alive with its cub will still allow you to encounter the Cub again and add it to your Camp however if you'd still like to take out the owl bear you can attack it without endangering the curb the battle will end as soon as the mother Albert is dead if you take the violent route and kill the owl bear mother make sure you interact with the owl backup afterwards and refrain from killing it [Music] encounter in the cave you'll eventually be able to find the owl bear cup at the goblin camp but make sure you take a long rest before you go there the curb can be found near the entrance to the camp surrounded by goblins when she spots it interacting with the Cub will lead to a discussion with a goblin named crawler who will introduce you to a new and terrible sport called chicken chasing though crawler will begin explaining the rules to you she will eventually tell you to come back when that half wit's done wailing this is a reference to valo The Bard who appears to be captured by the goblins and is standing on a pedestal in the middle of the camp once you've spoken to him you can then return to crawler to find out more about chicken chasing you can also speak to an owl bear cub and show that you aren't going to harm it by passing two animal handling checks however it will ultimately tell you to deal with the goblins before you can follow your scent to Camp so there are three different routes you can take to get this owl back up firstly it's important to interact with the cub and Let it Smell Your Hands this is how it makes its way to your Camp your free options are as follows you can save yourself some time and denounce chicken chasing is the cruel sport it is partake in a game and earn some extra gold or just Slaughter the Goblins outside as long as there are no goblins keeping the owl bear cub captive and he knows your scent he'll follow you to your Camp the quickest route is to just condemn chicken chasing altogether simply go back to crawler tell her you can't remember the rules and then say you don't want to play the game because it's cruel the conversation will end there and you can talk to crawler again and tell her that the Cub is coming with you here you'll have to either intimidate persuade buy the cup for 500 gold or use your lifted wisdom the easiest option is likely to use your lipid Powers which will convince crawler that you're a true soul and prompter to provide you with the Curve as a gift for the second route you can play a round of chicken chasing for 30 gold or place a bigger wager if you're feeling confident after that the owl bear cub will run to the pen where the game will take place to ensure that your win you can interact with the Albert cub and either pass an animal handling check to encourage it to run through the posts or if you have speak to animals then you can persuade to run straight to the post without any hassle finally you could try and persuade it to just attack the rest of the Goblins but this is a tricky route and means you'll have to fight every Goblin in the camp or you can just try and do it the honest way and Chase the owl bear cup between the posts be sure to mind the grease though as long as you win the game you can then talk to crawler to claim your wager though she'll conveniently tell you that chicken chasing can only be won by goblins at this point you can either intimidate or persuade her to give you your winnings after that you can speak to her again to tell her that the owl bear cub is coming with you this will lead to similar options as before after that you can speak to her again and tell her that the owl bear cub is coming with you which will lead to the same options as the first route of persuading intimidating buying the cup or using your life in wisdom regardless of the route you take the cup will disappear and eventually reappear at your Camp a few nights later if the Cub doesn't arrive immediately you might need to progress the story a little however it won't show up immediately so you'll need to take a few long rests before the club will start to appear eventually the owl bear cub will settle down and stay at your Camp here you can interact with it every time you head to the camp to rest you can pet him and you can even speak to him if you have a way to speak with animals if you also have scratch at your Camp you might experience a cut scene in which you pet both of them at the same time netting you there you have two hands for a reason achievement but be aware if you have speak to animals active when this cutscene triggers for some reason the achievement doesn't unlock and in my experience the cutscene also glitched out like this so that's how to get an adorable
