today we will be talking about the most useful spells in Baldur's Gate 3. we will be going over all the utility spells that you should know about that can help you on your journey what that means is we will not talk about spells that do the most damage or the best debuffs in the game that makes you Unstoppable instead we will focus on spells that you might think have only some simple uses when in fact they can create many unique scenarios that can help you out more than you think and something that might seem simple will provide great utility throughout the whole game so without further Ado thank you for watching and let's get into it first up we got silence you might have thought that silence will only prevent spellcasters from casting spells well not only that it has many other uses did you know that if you silence an area you will actually make no noise while inside simple right might seem logical but many people Overlook it for example if you cast it on the ground when the enemy is sleeping and you're gonna jump around him and throw stuff around or even break walls he will not hear it at all you can basically create a sphere where nothing inside can can hear you it's not only useful on sleeping enemies imagine if a guard will want to summon other guards and you will silence the area where he wants to alarm them well now No One's Gonna Hear It And No One's Gonna Come To His Aid same thing if the enemy will be shouting for help no one will hear his screams now it can be cast by clerics bards and higher level Rangers next up we have the speak with animal spell it's an incredibly useful spell in my opinion even mandatory to have because it opens up a lot of dialogue options with all the different animals that you will meet on your journey it can even open up some side quests that you would normally not get so it's an incredibly useful spell and what's cool about it is that it lasts all day it can be cast by Druids bards and Rangers and also barbarians that take the wild heart subclass I wouldn't leave my home without it that's that's nice in similar fashion we got speak with the dead which can be cast by clerics and bards it does exactly what it says it lets you resurrect a corpse temporarily and ask it five questions which you would be surprised how many corpses has Dialogue on them can also open up some quests or help you investigate the killer way easier but if the killer was you the corpse will not want to talk to you so you will have to use another spell like the sky itself so that the corpse will not recognize you it opens up a lot of dialogue options and it's very useful to have next up we have friends and charm person it lets you persuade the person you're talking to in giving up information or thinking that your body's with them just remember that when the spell expires similarly to stealing stuff the person will come look for you and can actually accuse you of being Charmed and you can get into massive trouble so use it sporadically or make sure to run away after you use it but I know it can has some dire consequences and sometimes you might return back to town and see it being Coastal towards you so be very careful when using it in towns and Villages next up are skill enhancement spells like guidance tamaturgy and enhance ability you probably use the guidance all the time already because shadowheart has it as a country and it's a great one to have because it adds one default to your skill checks which is very very helpful and hence ability lets you have advantage on skill checks involving attribute points like strength or dexterity and tamaturgy is a thief link ability that lets you have advantage on intimidation and performance checks out of those guidance and tamaturgy are cantrips so remember you can use them all the time as much as you want next up we have disguise cell which will let you turn in any race of any gender some places will treat you differently based on your race for example if you're gonna turn into a drow in the goblin Camp the goblin is gonna be way more afraid of you and will open up a lot of dialogue options and even let you inside without passing any checks so use it in scenarios where you think it will be advantages to turn into a specific race in a specific setting the spell can be used by Birds Sorcerers and wizards and also clerics of the trickery domain better fall a very useful spell that will make you not take damage from falling as the name suggests you can use it on top of mountains elevators and other stuff where you can freely jump down and nothing is gonna happen to you in similar fashion the jump spell extends your jump range making you get to places that you normally couldn't get Yankee actually have GIF Yankee Jump by default which is really awesome because you can use it without spending a spell slot Misty step a very useful spell that basically works like a Teleport you can get to Higher Ground or lower if you want to avoid taking damage and maybe you don't have featherfall for example it's very useful especially for melee classes that don't have much maneuverability like for example the Vengeance Paladin who gets it as one of their bonus spells it is very useful to reposition yourself or get to those far away targets that are raining down spells on you or some other nasty stuff liespell as the name suggests for 10 turns it lets you fly which means you can freely move around terrain or even levitate it can be very powerful as it basically combines out the previous spells that we just discussed together it will be also very helpful in towns especially in Baldur's Gate because the town is gonna be huge and I'm sure fly is going to help a lot with moving around just make sure to not be elevated somewhere in the middle of nowhere when the spell ends next up we have the classic invisibility it can be cast by bards Sorcerers warlocks and wizards it lets you do exactly what it says you will be invisible for some time but there is some extra usage you should know about first of all being invisible will make you have advantage on your attacks which means it will be way easier to open up on an unsuspecting enemy and make sure that you will hit it will also enable the sneak attack of the Rogue Second Use can be eavesdropping on conversations that you should not be around and the third use is stealing it will be way easier for you to sneak around the camp invisible and you can loot some stuff from unaware vendors magehand a simple can trip and also a gifianki racial spell can be very useful to pick up items from afar and also throw them you can also show the enemies if you're lucky it can also be helpful to throw healing potions which will actually heal your party just remember that magehen takes concentration to focus on while having the spell active but at the same time this additional action to throw for example can be invaluable also as an Arcane trickster your magehand will be invisible and large and reduce person and large and reduce can be a very fun effect used by Sorcerers and wizards and is also a racial feature of the doer guard you can for example enlarge a friendly Target and you'll be able to throw them onto other targets which can actually do massive damage in some circumstances it also makes your weapons deal an extra 1d4 damage on the other hand you can also reduce person to being able to fit into some places that you otherwise couldn't and there are a couple of those for example in Early Access in the goblin Camp there is one hole that you can get into and when you're smaller you can actually get through but honestly its most hilarious results is when throwing goblins around Darkness as the name suggests create an area where the enemy will be not able to see in a it's very helpful if you want to obscure some terrain so that enemies can't shoot you or also if you need to run away from a sticky situation another handy trick if you're a warlock with the devil's sight and vocation is that you can actually cast Darkness on yourself and be able to attack enemies and they will not be able to attack you it is a very handy spell to have especially in smaller areas like corridors or other choke points because it could make the enemy Wizards or ranged characters to force to get to you closer minor illusion and invoke duplicity both spells can be used to distract enemies and also in case of invoke duplicity which is a clerics trickery domain spell can also give you advantage in a small area around the Target and minor illusion which could be used by bards Sorcerers warlocks and wizards and also the Eldridge Knight subclass of the fighter can be very helpful just to distract enemies turn them around or perhaps make them investigate some area and even Make Them Fall to their death with a Thunder Wave spell or something else if you're gonna sneak up on them it's good to remember that minor illusion is a can trip so you can use it all the time and in invoke duplicity is the channel Divinity spell used by clerics of the trickery domain create and Destroy water in Baldur's Gate 3 there is a new condition called wet which will make targets affected by it take double damage from lightning spells so if you're for example gonna be a storm sorcerer it's gonna be an insanely powerful spell for you to use to set up those lightning bolts and lightning strikes you can also remove water from yourself but also blood which is of course partially water which could be quite useful if you're gonna get accused of killing someone and you're gonna be splattered all over in Blood and our last spell for today is light and also daylight both spells can be very useful if you don't have dark vision in your party and daylight also removes magical dark spaces like those created by Darkness balder K3 will surely have a lot of dark areas we know of some of them already like the underdark so it's a very useful spell to have in your
