19 and Mila Kunis was just 14 years old she was 14 when we started the show I was like 19 right right and they're like okay you guys are going to be making out in the scene and I'm like thinking like we're like a second or third kiss it was the first it was like the first week no it was not the first week whatever let me tell you what happens I was so I mean you know Ash was attractive and I was a minutes after Ashton was born Diane delivered Michael the doctors were immediately worried because Michael only weighed four pounds Diane didn't know at that time the lack of oxygen and complications turn for the worse Michael developed flu-like symptoms and doctors discovered that he had contracted viral myocarditis resulting in an enlarged heart that needed a transplant Michael was only given three or four weeks to live Ashton stayed right by Michael's bedside the entire time until one day he flatlined Ashton contemplated his own life since his heart would be a perfect match for his twin he asked his parents to sacrifice him for Michael fortunately Michael found a donor within 24 hours from an accident victim in another state and successfully received a heart transplant ultimately saving his life but his complications didn't end there the family relocated to Homestead Iowa where Ashton attended Clear Creek Amana High School unfortunately Michael later developed a blood clot and required open heart surgery Ashton quickly realized he couldn't help his brother he couldn't handle any more heartache and did whatever he could to distract himself this is where he found his passion for acting in school plays but he wasn't able to stay focused which led to a pattern of delinquency Ashton was convicted of third degree burglary and sentenced to three years of Probation and 180 hours of community service after trying to break into his high school after hours when he went to the University of Iowa he was kicked out of his apartment for being too noisy and wild he was partying one of that time the second season secured 7.4 million viewers a 55 increase over season one it was the most watched show in its time period among viewers 12 to 34. the pranks were decent but it was this cause for over a decade and his effort through Thorn are making a difference the 2021 impact report from Thorne shows their software Spotlight identified 3977 victims in 2021 and 24 366 during the lifetime of the software over 2 700 law enforcement agencies are now using the technology provided by Thorne the work Thorne is doing helps protect children from their abusers and removes damaging content from the internet Ashton is the co-founder and chairperson of Thorne in 2017 Ashton testified on Capitol Hill about child sex trafficking the things he said in this testimony are sickening but they need to be heard so people can address the disgusting reality of what goes on in this world I've been on FBI raids where I've seen things that no person should ever see seen video content a child that's the same age as mine being by an American man there was a sex tourist in Cambodia and this child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play Ashton claims that it would typically take years for federal agents to identify and capture a trafficker but his software is able to do it in just three weeks and in some cases he has identified and rescued victims within just three days he asked Congress for of course money to build more infrastructure around this but also he wanted to create a government initiative to end human trafficking however we don't know of his testimony mobilized any government programs we do know that he hasn't given up in 2022 he raised more than one million dollars for Thorne while running the New York City marathon and to this day Thorne has a team of 100 employees using technology to defend children from sexual abuse however just recently Ashton and Mila have said things that make us question everything we thought we knew about them Danny Masterson their co-star on That 70s Show was accused tried and found guilty of our wording to victims Masterson was accused in 2017 by five different women claiming he assaulted them in the early 2000s three of the five victims were scientologists a church that he has been a part of since he was a child Masterson assured everyone that these claims were false and he was a victim of jealous women who feel empowered by the metoo movement however the court did not see it that way the trial began in October of 2022 and the testimonies were horrifying multiple victims testified how brutal and forceful Masterson was one of his victims was his longtime girlfriend Chrissy Bixler in May of 2023 Masterson was found guilty of R wording two women in 2003 but in a strange turn of events Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis each sent the judge a letter asking for leniency and Masterson sentencing in Ashton's letter he describes his now guilty friend as an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being and a role model he ends the letter with while I'm aware that the Judgment has been cast as guilty on two counts of by force and the victims have a great desire for justice I hope that my Testament to his character is taken into consideration in sentencing I do not believe he is an ongoing harm to society and having his daughter raised without a present father would be a tertiary Injustice in and of itself despite Ashton and Mila's attempts the judge sentenced Danny Masterson to 30 years in prison for his crimes Ashton's statement completely changed everything we thought we knew about him he dedicated the past 10 years fighting against human trafficking being a first-hand witness on multiple occasions to arguably the worst type of crime in human existence and being a part of rescuing these victims and trying to give them a fair chance at life again only to contradict everything he stands for when his co-star committed the exact crimes he is fighting against then to defend his character and say that him being in jail would be an injustice this one statement destroyed Ashton's credibility forever once the letters leaked onto the internet they apologized we are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson we support victims we have dumbest historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future a couple months ago Danny's Family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing the letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury's ruling they were entitled for the judge to reap um and not to undermine the testimony of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way we would never want to do that and we're sorry if that has taken place our heart goes out to every single person who's ever been a victim of sexual assault sexual abuse this robotic and cold apology did not help anyone understand why they sent these letters and this entire situation makes people regret celebrating Ashton Kutcher for the past 25 years
