Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
The first animation of molecular processes that doesn't make them look like robotic tinker toys.
I love these videos. My only qualm (and I realize why this is the case), is that they show these proteins flying in from off screen that almost look like they're targeted or "homing-in" towards their interacting protein... It doesn't really give an accurate sense of how stochastic the entire process is, because you don't see all the other substrates floating around that don't end up binding, because they never find their binding partner or because they hit it in the wrong direction, etc. But I realize that showing that would make it incredibly hard to see what's actually happening.
As a non-biologist I feel that the apoptosome looks like some sort of orbital death laser.
Amazing video! I've got my science brain going on on a Sunday morning now though.
This is great! I wish it showed nuclear fragmentation too!
Their signal cascade will blot out the cytoplasm.
THEN WE SHALL PERFORM OXIDATIVE PHOSPHORYLATION IN THE SHADE.
That was awesome. And creepy. I have never been so creeped out by apoptosis before.
Thanks for this! The other videos by the same user are also great.
I did my masters studying anti-apoptosis.....fun stuff!!
