it's uh hammond's handy hacks now um and um and marjorie says alison brightens my day well we'll see marjorie shall we let's see what margery we're like one big happy family aren't we we are really aren't we we're very lucky all right so hammond's hacks obviously i made gogglebots it was so funny well they weren't that impressed but you know what i was on googlebot well if you get on it again it's so weird to watch okay so my first hack of the day you know when you're making a cake you crack open your eggs and you get a bit of shell inside yes how'd you get that shallow you're fishing it out you can't get it out really good hack clean hands into some water now remember i've got long nails so i do find this difficult but i've worked out water and it just stick what to your finger how cool is that hack is that look i'll do it again look clean hands water get the egg hold on should have quit working it's the nails that's amazing and it just sticks to your hand like that a really good hat well i didn't know that thank you very much gogglebox can't possibly grumble about it exactly yeah that's one of your best gogglebots okay next hack you're gonna like this too so yeah i'm just thinking where am i so it's a blender you know when it goes it splats everywhere yeah when you're blending icing sugar so let's put the egg in because there's no more there's no more shell well there is a little bit a little bit of water okay this paper plate is gonna stop all the splats check it out wow that's actually really clever did that no i didn't invent it i'll just go online and just check it out and then why not no splats you'd think that's pretty um that was pretty smooth uh and worked well first time and this is rehearsal this morning oh look at that just and that's you looking at it this is a paper plate and you literally put it onto your whisker put it over whatever you're whisking [Laughter] yeah it didn't go well in rehearsals but hey-ho okay but i also want to talk about this blender which is great it's a breville blender it's 44.99 but check this out imagine if you've got a bit of chocolate bit of butter it's quite hard it's actually got a heating facility at the top so if you if you haven't taken your butter out the fridge yeah it heats it up so imagine that so you're whisking and it heats up the butter and the chocolate very good as you're whisking it that way it's got a little fan underneath it has it well it's not a fan it's a heater it's nice and warm okay yeah you like that very good you know my hats are killing it today okay so rolling out your dough so we've got our dough there if you haven't got a rolling pin wine cold water away and you just roll it out you don't even have to buy a rolling pin actually and also when you're working with some dough you do need to keep it cold exactly two birds one stone exactly now if you've got a bit of money to spend 14.99 you can get this cooling rolling pin which is great it's got the measurements on the side but also you can open it up put some cold water in there and then again you're keeping your pastry nice we were making pies um at the end of last week weren't we and the pie maker um was saying that they always put your pastry in towards the fridge yeah yeah on the board that's right because it because it chills the board down yeah but this is really good 1499 get that from lakeland but also the other end you can put flower in and you can just put a bit of flowers how good is that it's great that is good we like that one next hack you know when you're making brownies and you put them in the oven you leave them in way too long and they come out a little bit too hard you can't even cut them it's actually quite dangerous when you're cutting them because they're just so hard all you have to do boil in hot water put your knife in the boiling hot water and it just melts through the brownies like so and you're able to cut really hard brownies being boiling hot water again it melts it through like so and then you've got your brownies nicely cut and ready to go and ready to go really really good when you think really like is it sort of burnt brownies overcooked yeah but i actually like my brownies really well done so and but they are really difficult to cook just use that little hack boiling hot water knife and it goes it just melts through your brownies there you go very good and then the next one is how to decorate the top of this now normally if i'm like i've got these little bits and these hundred and thousand i'm trying to make a decoration doesn't work just get yourself a really good well this is a butterfly put that on top on there like that add your hundreds of thousands and then you've got the shape of the book well it did work earlier but that didn't work but you know what it doesn't matter you can just decorate it the way you want i think it looks nicer when you put it but check this out though check this out bit of dental floss imagine if i wanted to put some jam in this cake here but i wanted to cut the cake get yourself some dental floss right and then just mark it round the edges with some toothpicks or cocktail sticks whatever you want to call it get your dental floss bring the plate back to your body just put that on top like so and you can cut your cake in half like so and then you can put the jam on the floor um why uh why wouldn't you use a knife well i just think it's a really cool hack really well sometimes knives can be very dangerous and you could do it so but something like that if you've got kids yeah you can use it with kids it's quite good fun and then afterwards you can flush your teeth put all the sugar in there with cake you're flossing your teeth with cake so those are my hammond's hats very good you started really strong with the egg and it sort of tailed off a little bit i tried emma said alison could do no wrong in my book oh michelle said allison's chocolate brownie recipe is amazing uh we've had lots of baking fails here actually i think they could use some of your hacks uh lewis says i was baking with my daughter and for some reason ran out of flour look at that oh my goodness oh dear sandra said my little girl preferred to play with the flower then bake with it oh my god and laura says i heard a little voice ask if she could lick the bowl then i turned around and saw this wow she went in didn't she what's your what's your documentary well i'm coming into the show to tell you all about it but it's alison hammond back to school looking at black figures in history and not changing history we're just adding to it it's going to be amazing were there lots of things that you didn't know like most of the there was one figure that i knew about and the rest i didn't know very good so he really is learning on the job it was great it was the first time you've done a documentary first time first time and i loved it loved every minute of it and i just hope that people love it it's going to be on tomorrow night nine nine p.m itv okay and you're going to come back tomorrow and tell us a little bit we'll have some all about it wrap some clips it's going to be great sounds like a good idea yeah what i think i've actually run out of hacks guys i know you've actually had it i'm pretty sure so we need to cook now yeah thanks alison thank you
