[Music] now then it's time to get those classic catchphrases at the ready alan carl's epic game show is back joining us now from the price is right studio uh lovely to see you did that those were all clips from the last series when you could have an audience so what's it like doing them all now without one i know it's so weird isn't it but you know what it works the we've got some great hunters they are so excited basically because they're allowed out the house so they are and then everything is sanitized you see even when i'm turning over the play your cards right there is a lady there wiping the cards honestly everyone's so militant is very safe but there's a lot of fun there's a lot of good will for this show so in a way we don't really need the audience because everyone's having such a good time and it's funny isn't it because when it started with the first series last year um you're a bit worried about it because you were like oh do people really want to see all of this and of course you were absolutely wrong because everybody's loved that nostalgia of bringing those shows back that we've loved so much yeah it's weird isn't it it's like i just oh and what but i feel it came during like lockdown that we're still in and i think it just tapped into that little bit of nostalgia fun times where you could just turn the news off and just get immersed in something and win some amazing prizes because listen everyone's had a everyone's had a rubbish year and the one thing i've noticed with this series is the people are desperate to win those prizes and win that money that holiday that car just to lift their spirit so it's perfect it's perfect well i no when you're doing a game show uh something like the cube or whether it's five gold rings then you completely know the game you learn the game inside out you know every aspect of it and and if something unusual happens that's fine because you're ready for it how do you learn the formats and jump from the formats for all of these different shows well i'm a game show boot camp so i'm filming 11 of these it's been extended from 6 to 11 so i do the show and then the next day i'm on to bullseye then i do bullseye then i'm on to play your card right then i'm on to strike it lucky and then so it is really it's hard but the trouble is i just we've played your cards right because sir bruce forsyth is an absolute legend i found myself channeling him a bit and going good gay good guy no alan stop it but you know because he's in he's in your game show dna and you know you know why he's such a legend and stuff but i keep dipping into the masters and looking on youtube and getting some hints because they just did it so well and so when you come back you've got um celebrities involved this time yes yes um next uh on saturday 8 35 we've got uh play your cards right celebrity special harry and sandra redknapp nicola adams ella bay martin and shirley kemp catherine tilsley and tom pitfield did um did so the the met the rednaps before uh and i think in sardinia did sandra cut your hair yes this is what happened oh my god i was there yeah and my hair my hair needed cutting so i went to the airdressers in the resort and i don't know any sardinian typical brit and she didn't know any english so i said can you cut my hair and you know normally you got like magazines to point at how you could look like all there was in the shot was like this um property magazine so i was pointing at like hedges and hanging baskets like that like that she destroyed my hair and i was so upset and sandra goes i used to be a hairdresser i'll cut your hair so she cut me air how lucky is that very very lucky the the other show that we've been watching you on is the interior design master show and that's been brilliant and i think especially now because we're all sitting at home we're all watching well our walls basically of our homes and kind of noticing things and we all want to change things and there's lots of tips and things you can learn lots of inspiration to be had on that one yeah it's great and also one of the things is a lot of the contestants they love a skip they love a tip and they would come with some rusty old railings and i'd be like looking they're like oh well you'll be going home this week nice to know yeah but bit of brasso and everything you don't have to have loads of money you know that just judging things up thinking about it having a little look never throwing things away so it's not like one of those ones oh i've got no money i can't do anything you sure can and i just said and of course you know they haven't got the biggest budget and they were getting things during a pandemic as well sourcing material they are all stars and they're just so inspiring they're going to have amazing careers so what what's um for doing that sort of show what have you done to your house in lockdown have you i can't because i can't see you looking in in a skip so i've woken up in a few skips especially when you've come on chatting about your tequila do you remember that time i fell in the serpent yes do you remember i fell in the serpentine because of you yes absolutely i went to get the dogs ball out all the tequila came to the front of me and i went in i remember um have you have you done any diy then what have you done in lockdown other than work i mean you you you're the most catalystic you've done loads of stuff but what have you done for you for my app when paul won't let me my heart won't let me go anywhere near that because i can't do anything i'm kind of like lighting a candle plumping up a cushion like this pulls the one without all the power tool and the shelves and stuff but i would just like maybe put a rug down well done that's like a lockdown you put look what you've achieved some people have learned entire languages have you put down a rank well done i've been busy holly i'm on every channel 24 hours a day thank you one of the shows you all saw was drag race uk which you're a massive fan of now i can't ever imagine you being nervous about anything but this one you were nervous about well only because i put on free stone during the because we stopped filming in february and the next thing you know we started out in november so there's that seven month what i've just eaten eat and eaten so do you remember when oprah winfrey was on bbc two and channel four and she was thin on bbc and she was fat on channel four that's what i like between between episode four and five people have to go what the hell is alan eaton oh alan we're we're you look great you're welcome we're lucky that you are you are you are here because on the on dna journey um if uh if it hadn't been for the fact that people were turned away from a particular trip to canada um there would be no cars at all i know what would tv do um no listen what they didn't show on the show which because it was just so jam-packed i know if you've seen it but um my family grew up in eric in a pub the eldest daughter went to vancouver had the best time came over and said what are you doing in here if dartmouth all come over to canada you'll have the best life and this was in 1912. so him and his 12 kids turned up went to get on the titanic but was told there was too many kids you have to get the next vote um they said it with a bit more gravitas than me but you get the
