this After Effects tutorial is made possible by a e-juice comm in this After Effects tutorial I will show you guys how to create up complex glitchy logo animation in After Effects without using any plugins there are various different techniques that we will cover in this complete tutorial so it's going to be super informative and fun so with that said let's jump into After Effects and get started hey guys make sure to check out I want it all bundled from AE juice which contains over 5,000 animated elements transition presets and titles for your projects it comes with a handy patch manager plugin and this is one of those investment that will last you for a lifetime oh and they also have a free starter pack it has over 100 animations that you can try it out for free for more information check out the link in the description below alright guys here we are in After Effects let's start by creating a new composition call this element for the width and height I'm gonna set this to 1920 by 1920 30fps and 10 seconds long here okay and let's start building up the base of our element so to do that I'm gonna select the shape layer tool and go ahead and select an ellipse alright so we need the stroke all the way up to 1004 now so I'm gonna keep at 1000 and let's create a stroke just like that go into the ellipse properties and lips part 1 let's make some room right here alright let's set this to around 1900 that should be good and going to stroke properties create a keyframe on the stroke width also make sure your time indicator is at the very beginning then let's hit s to create X key a property on the scale and set this down to zero all right let's select this hit T so we can bring up the opacity create a keyframe at 100% opacity go one frame forward by getting paid down and set this to zero go one frame forward again and set this to 100 so here we are trying to create a nice a flicker animation and keep the animation throughout the complete layer what we can do is add a simple expression of loop out so I'm gonna hold alt and click on the stopwatch let's type in loop out opening closed parenthesis and then let's select the layer hit you so we can see all the keyframes let's go to one second alright and set the scale amount really high - all the way up to 100 actually and set this to zero the stroke width so basically we have this very cool looking animation at the moment it looks pretty stiff so what I'm going to do is I'm going to use a free After Effects script called keyframe wingmen which comes with animation composer so I'm going to go into Windows and launch that up so basically this scripts allows allows us to tweak the keyframes instead of you know going back and back again into the graph editor you can tweak it directly from right over here so I highly recommend you guys to go ahead and check out this free script this is not a sponsored video I genuinely use the script a lot in my animation I'll mention the link in the description so you can go ahead and download it so let's select the keyframes unlink this and set this all the way up to hundred and set this all the way up to is zero so now if I select the keyframes and go into the gravity' you can see we have the curve and now you can easily you know adjust the curve using this script so it saves you a lot of time so let's see what we have and that is what I am going for looking pretty nice so I can go right here hold alt and close square bracket to cut that layer hit ctrl T to duplicate it let's move this a forward by maybe around 10 frames hit you and set the stroke width to around let's go with maybe 150 let's see yep looking pretty nice okay let's go right here hit control D duplicated hit P and get rid of the key frames from the opacity hold alt and click on the stopwatch let's move this right over here so we have this very simple animation but I want to remove the scale animation as well so I can hit s and remove the animation let's say this 200 go right here okay and let's bring down the stroke to around 5 pixels or so let's align this into the center make sure all our shapes are into the center so you can do that by the line tab which you can find under windows align alright let's select this make sure you don't have any animation let's select this hit you 2 times to reveal the size property let's create a keyframe go right over here and let's bring that down just like so so I think around 1500 should be good so we have this very simple animation let's select this hit control D to duplicate it head you go right over here and let's pull this out just like that and then select the keyframes and let's click on this icon so it's gonna apply the same curve on this keyframes as well so let's see what we have so far yep so that is looking actually pretty good pretty nice then I can select this base layer we can also change this to red so we know that this is our base layer select this hit control D let's go to wrong maybe 20 frames and move this one right over here hit s oh we already have an animation on the scale so I'm gonna hit you 2 times and bring down the size actually so let's bring that down something like that let's increase the layer the length of the layer basically so we have something like this and right over maybe around let's move this to three seconds all right let's go to 20 frames okay and select T we can actually just select this layer create a keyframe on the opacity go one frame forward by hitting page down and set this to zero go one frame forward set this to hundred to one frame forward set this to zero and then I can just copy paste this so I'll move this right over here control C control we write and control we so we have a flicker animation and then it goes looking pretty nice let's go at around somewhere on there let's copy this key frames it ctrl C and paste it on this layer as well control V so now we have something like this a nice fade out pretty cool so far so good now you can go ahead and add more and more elements to make the complete the complete animation look more complex so let's do this one more time so what I can do is select this set control D to duplicate it pull this on the top I'll move this right and then what I can actually do is this is looking pretty nice but I don't want the flicker effect so I can hit T and hold alt and click on this top foot so we don't get any kind of a flicker effect also get rid of the keyframes as well so we have something like that let's hit you go right over here and let's increase the size their lips eyes - all the way up just like that okay maybe move this a bit move forward in time to around two second and 15 frames or maybe two second and 20 frames it's good so that this flickers and then this pop up arrives and finally I'm gonna hit control D again at you let's move this right over around there and let's get rid of the stroke width so I'm gonna set the stroke width let's go add around 1050 should be good and let's get rid of the scale let's say this 100 all right and also I'm gonna bring that down a bit square 30 should be good and let's select the layer hit you 2 times bring down the size that we have something like that and let's create a keyframe go all the way up and set this to zero actually select the keyframes and click on this icon to apply the same animation so we have this really cool stuff but this time I'm going to add the flicker effect on this I think we can also use a stroke animation for the stroke width so I'll increase the width around 100 create a keyframe go right here and set this to 20 and then add the flicker effect so what I can do is simply go and select the base layer hit T copy this hit ctrl C move this indicator control V so we have a flicker out animation just like that pretty cool so this is a base element now we can go ahead and start to add up some more things to make it look more complex so the first thing that I'm going to do is select this layer an ad of vanity lines on this that will click to apply that up let's say this to 70 and this to 5050 is a bit too much let's go 30 and set this to 45 so we have a little bit of variation as you can see looks really cool alright now let's go back into our main project panel let's create a new composition which is gonna be our dual elements I'm gonna call this dual element hit OK drag and drop in the element duplicate this at control D pull this forward by strain frames forward should work good and scale this down to around 50% so now I can see a shape looks a bit more complex than before so I'm pretty happy with the look let's create a new composition which is going to be a slice comp call the slice hit OK and now we're gonna cut up our dual element into some pieces so to do that I'm gonna select the rectangular tool we don't need any stroke we just need the fill and that will click to apply that up and let's divide the height 5 times on the unlink this and this is going to be 1920 / 5 that is divided by 5 and then we get this nice shape and we gonna line it at the top using our align tool just like that and set the track matte so if you don't see the track matte option you can hit f4 set the track my 2 alpha matte and there we go then I can just simply select all the layers that is the two layers that we have hit ctrl D to duplicate it and pull this shape just like that so you can of course use the arrow keys to be a bit more precise just like that you can hit control shift edge to hide the control layers and then you can do this more precisely perfect let's do this one more time hit select both the layers had control select the shape layer hit control shift edge so we can see the control layers pull this down all actually align it into the center just like that select this again hit control D and I'm gonna create five pieces of five slices of this you can create more if you want to so just try to you know play around and have some fun select this again hit control D select the shape layer and let's pull this at the bottom so now we have our slices now what I'm going to do is let's move two frames forward in time or let's go three frames forward so H P so hit pitch down three times let's pull this one let's actually soon this a bit then go two frames forward one two and move this right over now we should have a very cool and complex looking element as you can see this is looking very very cool now you can any time jump into the base element that is our element comment you can do various different changes in them you can add more shapes if you want to and it will become more and more complex kind of a procedure look you can say so that is looking super cool now let's go ahead and create our main comp which is going to be a logo animation complex at the height - let's say the width let's set the height here to 1080 and then hit control Y to create a new solid and let's call this V G make this block hit OK and drag and drop in the mean slice comb that we have so yeah something like that looks pretty cool you can also turn on the collapse transformation if you want to that is looking super cool I'm going to select this hit s and scale this down to around say 5% let's select this at control D and scale this one down to around 50% so now you can see it looks a bit more complex and the best part is that I can add a fill on this so I can go into fixed and preset type in fill you can also use a gradient wrap that would look really really cool I'm gonna go with a nice orange color and you can use it in a number of different ways for example you can keep the shapes just like that if you want but if you want you can do several different things for example I can you know select this hit R and rotate this by 90 degrees so we get a different looking design as you can see super cool but what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna rotate this by 45 degrees and rotate this one by minus 45 so we get a really interesting animation let's select the fourth slice again hit ctrl D to duplicate it call this beach chic because we will be using them in the background let's scale this up all the way just like that around 100 should be good and also going to effects and preset anti-pain fast blur fast box blur repeat edge pixels and said this were on 10 and then bring down the opacity to 10% so we have this nice background animation as well and as you can see this looks super cool really nice also to add a bit more style to the background what we can do is let's create a new solid to it control Y call this overlay and let's use the same orange color that we used hit OK and then select the ellipse tool and create a mask just like that alright and then feather this up too all the way up to 1000 so we get this really nice fall off as you can see looks super cool let's pull this just like that you can also set the market control T and adjust this accordingly depending on the look you want to go with something like so that is looking pretty nice alright let's select this that is overly hit control D and rotate this by hit R and rotate this by 180 degrees so we have one at the bottom and let's bring down the opacity to 50% control shift edge and now you can see we have this really nice look also let's quickly add an opacity animation to our overlays so at one second in 15 frames I'm going to select both the layers hit T create a keyframe go back and set it to zero let's say that 9 to easy them yep as you can see this looking pretty nice now one issue that you would face with this is if I go ahead you can see we get this kind of color bendings which doesn't look really good so what you can do is switch to 16-bit so hold alt and click on this so it's gonna switch to 16-bit and then create a new adjustment layer called there's noise and let's add a nice noise effect on this that should help us in fixing up the color bendings let's increase this to 3 and back there we go now because of the YouTube compression you may still see some bendings but in the main project all the color bindings are gone maybe I'll also bring down the opacity so I'll go right here bring that down to 25 and bring this down to somewhere around there that is looking pretty nice now one more thing that I can do is add a grid or a dotted grid into our background and to do that I'm gonna create a new solid so it control Y called this grid alright let's pull this at the bottom let's go to fix and preach it and type in CC Paul action that is what I'm gonna use and let's actually bring down the ball sizes to around schools like 8 and increase the grid to around 10 so you get this really nice grid as you can see also we can bring down the opacity and actually I'm gonna go into layer solid settings and make this white let's increase the grid spacing to around 12 i thing and for the ball size i can go with 6 I'm gonna keep it very very minimal let's say there's a full so you can see the complete look also we can animate the opacity of this as well so let's bring that down to 25 I'm gonna keep it very minimal in 15 yep create a keyframe go back inside this to 0 and f9 to easy ease them so our complete animation is actually ready all we have to do is add our logo to this and some text so let's create a new composition call this logo for the height and width I'm going to set it to 500 by 500 head okay now you can use any logo that you want I'm just gonna use a text let's assume that it's a logo just align this into the center make this right let's spin this up so let's say this is a logo let's go back into the main composition let's add in the logo comb so I'll add in somewhere around that 4 seconds should be good it has to bring up the scale properties create a keyframe go to 5 seconds and said this to somewhere around there on 40% yep that looks good selected and click on this icon to add the same animation so there we have it maybe I'll move this a bit move forward in time so somewhere wrong three second and twenty five frames let's go ahead and add this and I'm gonna quickly add some flicker effect on this so let's go right here hit T let's set this to zero clear a keyframe go one frame forward so this 200 go one frame forward set is to zero going frame forward set is 200 and then I can just copy this so select this it ctrl-c ctrl-v oh there we go so now you can see we get this really cool effect and finally I can add some text so type in random glitch let's set this to around 30 pixels and align it and let's go with the same orange color again looks really nice and add some small animation to this so select layer hit T to create a keyframe on the opacity hit P create a keyframe on the position hit you go forward right over here bring that down and set this to zero select both the keyframes apply the curve animation and there you go so now let's go ahead and preview our complete animation and as you can see this is looking super cool using some very simple technique you can clear this complex looking glitchy logo animation inside of After Effects without using any plugins now one more thing before we wrap up is if you guys have a plugin called deep glow which I came across lately you can actually add some very nice glows onto this so if I just maybe select orange one that is that is this one going to fish and preset and type in deep blue it's a bit more better than our usual or traditional after-effects glow so you can use this I highly recommend you guys to go ahead and check it out because this is super cool and you can see it improves the complete look of the logo animation looks super cool you can also add a really simple curves adjustment to this and there we go so that is a wrap for today guys I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on creating the glitch logo animation I know the video is a bit long than usual but there were so many different steps that we need to cover so because of that the video came out to be a bit long I hope you guys enjoyed it if you did make sure to subscribe comment and like and yeah I'll see you guys in the next video till then take care and always stay Raw stay creative stay home stay safe
