okay welcome again I'm Robert breaker and we're continuing our verse-by-verse Bible study through the book of Acts last time we finished up Acts chapter 20 and today we're going to start in Acts chapter 21 now if you'll remember what we studied last time Paul has just spoken in Acts chapter 20 verses 18 through 35 talking to the people that he called together as though he was saying you know this is it this is the end I probably never see all again so I want to tell you all these things and Paul tells them that he thought you know I probably will never see you all again verse 38 sorry most of all for the words which he spake that they should see his face no more and they company them to the ship so we remember I dropped the map up here again today that Paul came down here to my leanness if I remember correctly that's where Paul was and while he was there verse 15 of chapter 20 and my leaders he called all the people of Ephesus to come down so they're all coming down here and at Miletus Paul gives this this speech to a lot of people that had gotten saved and telling him look I'm going to Jerusalem and I'll probably never see you anymore and Paul really thought that this would be the end of his life that he would go to Jerusalem and probably be killed there we'll see in the next couple of chapters that he almost was he almost was so Paul is telling them this speech that he gave last time in Acts chapter 20 how he loved them how he did his best to declare unto them the whole counsel of God and he says look I want to warn you they'll be grievious wolves that come in and they'll come in and they'll try to draw away after themselves disciples verse 30 and so I've warned you and I with prayer and tears warned you verse 31 so that's what this is about this is a continuation of that what happens after that so when Paul leaves my Letus he's going to go and eventually get down here to Jerusalem and we're gonna see part of his journey as he does that we're gonna see what happens he's gonna meet some people along the way so remember there were three missionary journeys of Paul's so far Paul's going all the way here and I didn't roll up here at Greece and Athens and Thrace and Macedonia I just stuck over here on this side today but he's going back and forth and he's a missionary Paul is a missionary he's an evangelist but he's also a missionary and he's travelling he's meeting all these people and so as he goes back to Jerusalem he's staying with people that he would have won to the Lord in his other missionary journeys and there were now we're gonna see what's taking place here in Acts chapter 21 and it came to pass that after we were gotten from them and had launched we came with a straight course unto Koko's Co OS crews I guess you would pronounce that and the day following on two roads and from thence into Patara now I don't know where ku says some of these places cities in the Bible I looked up old maps and I couldn't find it but it's got to be somewhere from between here and here so he says they sailed from boletus so they left Molina's and they went to couse wherever that is in the following day unto rhodes well here's the island of rhodes so they went to rhodes and they went from rhodes then to Patara and i looked up but on the old maps of Patara is here so what Paul is doing he's taking boats and he's taking each the ports and he's going port to port to port in order to get to where he's going so Paul had utilized ships a lot and we've got understand the context of the time period of Paul the Roman Empire was in control of all this stuff and there was much free trade within the Roman Empire so there were many ships always going back and forth and people say that the Roman Empire was so great because the roads the Romans built the best roads you could go anywhere in the Roman Empire walking on the road and with all the free trade and everything you could go anywhere within the Roman Empire on a ship and so Paul took advantage of that in order to preach the gospel and God really used that I don't believe it was an accident that Paul was born in this time of history it's all working together for the work of God to get people saved so cous was a city roads as an island Patara is another city now verse 2 and finding a ship sailing over unto Phoenicia that Phoenicia they went aboard and set forth now Phoenicia is going to be a over in this area Sidon and tyre you remember if you've studied in college or in regular school the Phoenicians the Phoenicians lived around this area entire Sidon in this part of the the world and the Phoenicians were known to this day as people that could sail they were the best sailors and navigators and they now again some people think the ancient Phoenicians made it to America it's possible I know they sailed to Spain in other places so this is where your Phoenicians are from so in verse two says in finding a ship sailing over into finish here we went aboard and set forth so they got on another ship now I don't know what the price was in those days of a ship but it must have been affordable because Paul he has a job building tents and so he would build a tent and sell it and then he'd have enough money to travel on a boat so I don't imagine that it's expensive as expensive as an airplane ticket today there were a lot more ships back then a lot of people traveling and whoever the captain of the ship was he's probably looking for more money so on the more the merrier you know I'll pay the toll come aboard I'm going that way anyway so that's usually how it worked now verse three now when he had discovered Cyprus we left it on the left hand and sailed into Syria so here Cyprus so he left Patara it's funny they left it on the left hand I don't know why they didn't go that way he says they went left Cyprus on the left hand so they must have gone around Cyprus sometimes remember in those days they didn't have boat engines so they had to use sail boats so sometimes they had to just do what the wind said you would think you would have gone around this way but he said we left it on the left hand left hand would be this side so they went around like this so as we're reading the book of Acts it's amazing because we're following the footsteps of the Apostle Paul and literally looking at the places he went and what routes he took and that's interesting at least to me it is now when we discover Cyprus we left it on the left hand and sailed into Syria and landed at Tyre for there the ship was to unlaid her burden so what do we see we see him leaving my leanness and going to coos wherever that is eventually going to roads and then Patara then going around this way over here to although they landed entire excuse me so he lands entire so we're singing how Paul travels okay now it says here and finding disciples we tarried there seven days who said to Paul through the spirit that she'd not go up to Jerusalem so here they come to tyre now the ancient city of tyre is mentioned a lot in the Old Testament but Paul comes to tyre and he goes to tyre here and when he does he finds seven disciples so there's seven people that he comes across that are believers who said to Paul through the spirit that he should not go up to Jerusalem so here is another warning to Paul now we've already seen one warning to Paul versus someone had said hey Paul don't go and he already says in chapter 20 you know that if I go I'm gonna go in bonds so he knows that he's disobeying God but we'll see even more more warnings to Paul where God says Paul don't go back to Jerusalem do what you're doing continue going to the Gentiles don't go back to Jerusalem but Paul does anyway so here are these seven disciples excuse me I keep saying seven upon cycles you see he says he's finding disciples but he was there seven days so I'm sorry I said there were seven disciples there were not seven disciple there could have been more to convince he found disciples there but he stayed there seven days that's where I got the southern for him sorry about that so he's staying entire for seven days so for a whole week he stays with these disciples will make sure I say that right okay and when he had accomplished those days we departed and went our way and they all brought us on her way with wives and children so we were out of the city and we kneeled down on the shore and prayed okay so Paul stays for a whole week with these disciples again I don't know how many there were but he stays a whole week entire with the disciples and then they come with them to the shore and they have a little camp meeting there on the shore and they have a little prayer and they're praying for Paul after the Holy Spirit warned Paul do not go to Jerusalem but he determines to do it anyway and so these disciples bring their wives and their children and they come and they pray along the seaside along the beach now verse six and when we had taken our leave one of another we took ship and they returned home again took ship as the old English say way of saying we we got aboard we took ship they even said that not that long ago about people in the military said well I'm gonna take ship I'm gonna it's funny it says they've taken our leave well when you get off the ship you say I take my leave I'm on leave if you're a sailor and you're off the ship and then you so it's interesting they're using the nautical terms Paul was so familiar with was sailing that he's using all these well Luke that was following with Paul Luke actually wrote this book he's using the nautical terms number seven and when we had finished our course from tyre we came to patola --mess or patola mice however you say it I just say coat old of us but it looks like we're told the mice and Saluda the brother and a boat with them one day so they go from tyre to patola --mess so he's kind of doing the hop skip and a jump along all these ports as he's slowly making his way to Jerusalem and what happened here well let's look here he comes to patola mice and saluted the brother and abode with them for one day now verse eight and the next day we were of Paul's company we that were of Paul's company departed it came unto Caesarea and we'd entered into the house of Philip the Evangelist was one of the seven and abode with him so the next day they departed and came here now it doesn't say they took a boat so I don't know if they took a boat if they just walked but they came to this place called Caesarea and I noticed on old maps it was called Caesarea maritima I don't know why they added that I know there were other such arenas that basically comes from the name of Caesar you know down here and Egypt there's Alexandria Egypt a lot of times towns got their names from the kings King Philip there was Philip I of Macedonia from King Philip Alexandria Egypt is from Alexander the Great so Caesarea named after the Caesar so Paul's coming down and look what he's doing he's getting closer and closer to Jerusalem where he wants to go but we're gonna see here that God says don't go there Paul I don't want you to go to Jerusalem I want you to continue going to the Gentile so here's what happens he comes to the house in Caesarea loved a man named Philip and this is the Banja list now Philip is mentioned in Acts chapter 6 and we'll go back there here in a second remind us who Philip is but Philip was an interesting fella Philip is living here in this area and he's called an evangelist Philip is but before in Acts chapter 6 he was a deacon so he has changed what he once was he once was a deacon in the church of Jerusalem now he's an evangelist you could probably say he was a missionary because he left his home and went to another city to do the work of the Lord so I guess you could say in in the modern sense of the word we would have called him a missionary he's a missionary to Caesarea because he left his home in Jerusalem and went to a different place so they came to the house of Philip the Evangelist which was one of the seven and abode with him now what does it mean one of the seven well let's go back and remind ourselves here in Acts chapter 6 so in Acts chapter 6 verses 1 through 6 this is very early in the book of Acts and we read in Acts chapter 6 verse 1 through 6 and in those days when the number of the disciples were multiplied there arose a murmur of the Grecians against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them and said it is not reason that we should leave the table of God and of the word of God and serve tables wherefore brother look you out among you seven men of honest report full the Holy Ghost and wisdom whom we may appoint over this business but we will give ourselves continually prayer into the ministry of the word and the same please the whole multitude and they chose okay these are the seven alright we just read that Philip was one of the seven these are seven men that were chosen by the early church and they were chosen as what we would call deacons today in the Saint please them and they chose stephen a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost and Philip and pro chorus and nicanor and timon and parmenas and nicolas a proselyte of antioch whom they said before the apostles when they had prayed and laid their hands on them when they had prayed , they laid their hands on them and the Word of God increased in the number of disciples multiplied to Jerusalem greatly and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith so this guy Philip became one of the Deacons but Philip is also mentioned with Stephen so he Stephen wasn't just a guy that went and waited on tables Philip and Stephen both were preachers and we will see later well let me show you now I guess in Acts chapter 8 Philip becomes a preacher and begins preaching Philip chapter Philip ah Acts chapter 8 and verse 5 then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them alright he's a preacher and verse 6 and the people with one Accord gave heed and to those things which Phyllis Philips spake hearing and seeing the miracles which he did even Philip had miracles verse 12 but when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized both men and women so he's preaching verse 13 then Simon himself believed also and when he was baptized he continued with Philip and wondered beholding the miracles and science which he'd done and on and on it talks about Philip verse 26 and the angel the Lord spake into Philip saying arise and go toward the south and to the way that goeth down from Jerusalem to Gaza which is desert and this is where he preaches to the Ethiopian eunuch so Philip was a preacher and Philip was someone that obeyed God now I've always liked Philip I don't know why but I see in the Bible that Philip with somebody that literally obeyed God oftentimes when the Apostles did not know member fight said this I might have in the beginning of our study when we started verse one but I'm gonna go ahead and say it here again because I really like Philip I really believe that Philip looked at what the early church was doing and he's like well I don't see them obeying God so I'm just gonna go out on my own and do what God said to do what God's say to do let's go to Acts chapter one in verse eight Acts chapter one in verse 8 God Jesus Christ is speaking to these disciples of his and he says this to them in acts 1:8 but you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you and she will you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth so there's four places that the early apostles were supposed to go four places they were supposed to start in Jerusalem and they did and we see Jerusalem we see Philip in Jerusalem he's one of the seven then - is it Judea yeah Judea is all the area where all the Jews are so here's Jerusalem Judea would be all of this area and then Samaria well Samaria would be up here so this area up here is Samaria this whole thing is Judea this is Jerusalem so from Jerusalem to the gia Judea to Samaria and then to the uttermost parts of the earth so you start where you are I have people all the time say brother breaker I'm saving out what I do I want to be a missionary well all right you start where you are you start in the city or in the town you're in and you witness to everyone you see and that if God has you to be a missionary then you'll go to another city and then you'll go to another country even possibly then you'll go to other places but you always start where you are witnessing to the people you're close to so Jesus commanded the early apostles in the early church go to these four places start where you are and then go to the other most part of the earth now did the early apostles do that no Acts chapter 8 and verse 1 I've always thought this was so interesting Acts chapter 8 and verse 1 and and it says here and Saul was consenting unto his death who's this solace Paul and whose death is it talking about Stephen you know one of the seven and it says and at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem and they were scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria so there was persecution in Jerusalem because they didn't just obey God they didn't go out to the other places they stayed where they were and so God sent this horrible persecution against the early church and they said well we're going to go to Judea and we're gonna go to Samaria we're going to go back and remember what Jesus said in acts 1:8 we're gonna do that but look what it says it except the Apostles except the Apostles the apostles are like then we're not going to obey Jesus we're just gonna stay here and here we are all the way out in Acts chapter 21 and Paul is going back and we're gonna find out that there's still some apostles here now remember some of the Apostles went to Antioch of Syria Peter did but we're gonna find James is still in Jerusalem and they they disobeyed it seems like some of them obeyed but you would think the early apostles while they would be in the uttermost part of the earth by now that's what Paul did Paul was going all took places nobody else had ever been preaching the gospel of salvation so I like Philip because look at them actually have great in verse 4 therefore they went scatter brought it went everywhere preaching the word verse 5 then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them so Philip is one of the seven deacons of the early church he's looking around he's like why aren't these apostles leaving why aren't they remembering the words of Jesus why will if they want and he went to Judea he preached then he went to Samaria and where is he well he's in Caesarea so he's he's lead he's he's trying to obey anyway what Jesus said so I kind of like to Philip he's an evangelist so let's go back to Acts chapter 21 and here we find Philip going all over like he was instructed to do so he really got a hold of that message of going to the whole world who else got a hold of that message of going to the whole world Paul really quickly look at what Paul says in 2nd Corinthians 10:16 2nd Corinthians chapter 10 verse 16 Paul too was one of those that said you know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go into all the world I'm not you're just gonna stick into Jerusalem and stay there like the early apostles did they should have been going to the world too but second corinthians 6:10 16 Paul says what well let me back up a minute here in verse 14 verse 14 for we stretched out ourselves beyond our measure as though we reached not unto you for we overcome as far as you also in preaching the gospel of Christ as far as you the Corinthians where are they in Greece and then he says verse 16 to preach the gospel in regions beyond you and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand so the Apostle Paul says men my desire was to go to preach to the regions beyond Paul he started in Jerusalem and then he went to Judea then he went to Samaria then he went to the uttermost part of the earth but he just kept going but now we see Paul going back to Jerusalem why when the Holy Spirit says no my ultimate goal was to go to the whole world Paul just keep going that way but Paul says no I'm going back and we're gonna find out today why Paul so wanted to go back to Jerusalem I believe it's because he loved the people of Jerusalem he loved the Jews and that's why he was so adamant I've got to go back he really wanted to see them get saved but it backfires on him if he wouldn't have gone back I think the Lord could have used them much more in a much more mighty way so Acts chapter 21 verse 8 I believe we're in verse 8 yes and the next day we were we were that were a pulse company departed they came at acessory and we entered into the house of Philip the Evangelist which was one of the seven and bowed with him number 9 says and the same man had four daughters virgins which did prophesy now here's a weird thing this guy Philip we're told had four girls so Philip had four daughters and you know what they did they prophesied well people today take that and say see women can be pastors women can be pastors because Phillips daughters prophesied well they're in a house right there they're not in a church I'm going to show you some verses here in a minute from Paul that says that a woman is not supposed to prophesy or preach in a church but for some reason these four daughters of Philip were full of the holy spirit and they were prophesying now the book of Acts is a transitional book remember that and you cannot say well because they're prophets that I can be a woman prophet no this is something different the book of Acts is a changing book there's things going on in the book of Acts and if you read the rest of Paul and its other epistles you don't find that God is allowing women to go around and and prophesy and do this kind of stuff that these girls did I don't know why God allowed it here at this time but I know for sure that according to Paul in other time after that and in the church this was something that wasn't allowed so let's look at that and also prophesying is prophesying is telling the future so telling about future the Holy Spirit in those girls said to Paul Paul if you go to Jerusalem they're gonna put you in Chains that's what they said that was the extent of their prophesying they knew Paul everybody Jerusalem hates you if you go there they're gonna catch you and put you in jail so that was their prophecy now the question we have today many people are their prophets today now here's the thing what is prophesying this is a something that people have asked me to do a video on is there are their prophets today and I haven't done one yet maybe I will in the future but in the Bible there are prophets all throughout the Old Testament there's prophets any prophet was someone that God spoke to and said I'll go telling them this and oftentimes in the Old Testament God would talk to someone vocally or else in their mind it would say this this this and this and it looks like this is what's happening here in the book of Acts is God the Holy Spirit is telling people say this and tell Paul this is going to happen to him if he does that now does that happen today well during this time of the book of Acts we did not have the full canon of the scriptures so the Bible was not finished yet so God could still deal with people and prophesy through people during this time but after we get the entire Bible put a stone the sixty-six books that we have of the King James Bible there's no prophecy today there's no people today that stand up and say I'm a prophet and God told me this you shouldn't listen to those people let me show you why go to 2nd Peter chapter 1 Peter tells us that you can't you can't listen to what some man says today who stands up and says I'm a prophet in most of the time when you come across somebody like that you mark her down you have a cult there was a famous man and said the Lord will come back in what did he say 2011 or 2013 Harold Camping I believe his name was he says I'm a prophet and I'm prophesied on this day and this year the Lord will come back at the rapture it didn't happen some prophet what did he just do he just made God a liar and himself too and now he's a laughingstock of the world because he claimed to be a prophet and what he prophesied didn't come to pass so you've got to be very careful what does the Bible say is the prophecy for today 2nd Peter chapter 1 verse 19 it's talking about the Bible in the context and in 2nd and I say first Peter 2nd Peter in 2nd Peter 1:19 we read for we have also a more sure word of prophecy where until you do well that you take heed as unto a light that shine is in dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost so the Apostle Peter here is talking about the scripture verse 20 and he says that the scripture is our more sure word of prophecy so our more sure word of prophecy today is the Bible the Bible is prophecy so I don't go by well this man told me that or this man told me that all over YouTube you have all these videos of people saying well there was a prophet that lived in the early 1900's and he said this that and this will tell you to take place and people say brother breaker why don't you listen to him because the Bible says not to the Bible says that this the Bible itself is my more sure word of prophecy what it's more sure than what the verse right before it is verse 18 and this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with him in the holy mount the context of our more sure word of prophecy which is the scripture I write that down here the scripture is it's more sure than a voice from heaven so if a man comes along today and a man says God has spoken to me from heaven he told me to tell you this I look at a guy like that think of nothing I can't take it can't hear anything you say not gonna listen because the Bible is my more sure word of prophecy I go by what God said in the Bible what you say may or may not be true but this is my moisture so I'm not gonna listen to you now you go to YouTube people all the time send me emails brother breaker what do you think of this guy he's a prophet he said this is gonna take place in last day what do you think of that guy brother breaker there's this woman she's a prophet she said is that what do you think of that and I tell him I don't I don't think of it I don't follow that I don't need that everything God wants me to have is in the Bible the completed finished canon the 66 books it's my more sure word of prophecy so I don't go by what they say but what's funny to me is oftentimes they'll say something and then it may be weeks and maybe years later what they said was false they proven themselves to be a false prophet so I don't go around and I don't prophesy and say those so if the Lord Robert breaker has just received a message from God oh my God is telling me to tell you this that and the other thing no God doesn't speak to me vocally from heaven like he did in other times like you didn't still in the book of Acts because now everything God wants me to have is in the Bible and that's the more sure word of prophecy some people say well are the prophets today brother breaker well that's a good question I don't see people today that are prophets who are receiving a message from heaven from God to go preach to the world I don't see that I see that the Bible is our more sure word of prophecy and God's not going around talking to men like you did in other times I see that Paul tells us that that we that prophecy will cease go to go to first Corinthians chapter 13 first Corinthians 13:8 and in first Corinthians 13:8 it says charity never faileth but whether there be prophecies they shall fail whether there be tongues they shall cease whether there be knowledge it shall vanish away for we know in part and we prophesy in part but when that which is perfect is come then that which is in part shall be done away when I was a child I spake as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things for now we see through a glass darkly but then face to face now I know in part but then shall I know even as I am know so the Apostle Paul says look there's going to be prophecies but he says there's a time in which these things are done away the prophets today are done away we have all of the completed painting of Scripture our prophecy is all in the Bible we don't need in today as profits we have the prophecy of the scripture and that's all we need so I don't see anybody today as a prophet unless let's go over here let me show you this unless a prophet is someone who is preaching what the Bible says because what is the Bible it's a book of prophecy go to Revelation chapter 1 and verse 1 the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass and sent and signified it by his angel and to the servant John now verse 3 says blessed is he that readeth and they that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which were written therein for the time is at hand so the Bible is the word of prophecy the only way today that a man can be a prophet is if he's teaching the Bible then he is preaching prophecy and he's a prophet in the in the in the human say it in the sense that he is giving you what the Bible says let me show you I take a Bible and I go up to a lost person and I say this book tells you how to get to heaven if you come to Jesus and trust him trust his finished work trust the blood atonement what he did for you then you'll go to heaven if you don't you'll go to hell what have I just done I have prophesied prophecy means to tell the future I have just foretold the future of that person but I didn't do it because of what I say it's not my words I have taken the scriptures and said the Bible tells you your future if you get saved you go to heaven if you don't you go to hell that's your future so that's the only way to prophesy today by preaching the Bible so preaching if you're preaching the Bible then you're prophesying but there's no extra-canonical prophecy in the sent there's no men that are out there prophesying saying other words other than the Bible and claiming that's from God I don't see God doing that today in which he speaks to a man and then the man says things that aren't in the Bible I believe that you might believe different help yourself but I believe that all of the prophecy that God wants us to have is in the Bible and that's what we should focus in on that's what we should believe we shouldn't go around listening to men that say I am a prophet and God told me this that or the other thing because most the time if not all the time when they prophesy something they always say something is not true at all always they might say something and you know what the other thing is - there are demons out there that can tell the future how do you know that a demon hasn't talked to that guy and foretold someone's future and so that's why I'm very careful I don't follow people today that claim to be prophets I believe that the Bible is our more sure word of prophecy 2nd Peter 1:19 so I just want to throw that out there and I want you to understand what I put Peter in Spanish and I put it in second Peter 2 or 1:19 I say the Bible is our more word of prophecy I don't go around saying the host here told me to prophesy and say this that or the other thing no the Holy Spirit brings to my remembrance what the scripture says and that's the prophecy the prophecy is the Bible so always follow what the Bible says we have in Pensacola a huge church huge denomination it's called the Pentecostal or charismatic denomination and they are over there they're in Brownsville and I've dealt with people that have gone to this Karns carnal carnival revival where they call it the Brownsville revival yeah I call it they a brownsville carnival it's not a revival a lot of things they preach and teach or not what the Bible says and they will stand up and they'll say Oh God prophesied told me to say this that or the other thing and it's a joke it's a joke the man who was the pastor of that church he said God just spoke to me in ninety days God is going to judge that man who spoke against me and he says he was a prophet and there was a man that was saying look what you're doing there isn't biblical and so this guy said in 90 days God's gonna judge this guy and he says God just told me that to prophesy that you know what happened ninety days exactly that guy who said he was the prophet that preacher fell off his house fell off a ladder off his house off the roof God judged who now the guy who said he was the Prophet he got judged because he was a Tang what the Bible said he made up a prophecy that wasn't true so beak careful of following people that claim to be prophets the only prophecy that we need is what God says in the scripture that's our more sure word of prophecy now now today are women prophets should women prophecy does the Bible allow women today to be prophets well according to Paul no now this is the problem in Acts chapter 21 and verse 9 we've got these four daughters of Philip prophesy and so many people did able said well if they can do it I can do it well they did it then but Paul is writing to the church after that and Paul says no you don't do that anymore so there was a time when God did allow people to prophesy and he did put his Holy Spirit into people and have them prophesy and that was before the Bible was completed but once that Bible was completed we have the whole canon now there's no more people going around prov sign saying this that or the other thing now the Bible itself is the more sure word of prophecy that's how I see it but let me show you quickly the verses I still get emails all the time for people saying brother breaker does the Bible allow a woman to be a pastor or a deacon and I say no and they say you bigot well I don't care what they say they can call me whatever they want but I have to go by what the Bible says and unfortunately there's many denominations in the world today that allow women pastors and they call pastor is's or something like that I don't know what the right word is because there's no women pastor in the Bible but if you go to first Corinthians chapter 14 verse 29 to verse 35 we clearly see that the Apostle Paul our Apostle does not allow women preachers in the church so if a woman stands up says she's a preacher and she's a pastor of a church or a deacon guess what she is disobeying the scriptures and that's between her and God someday she'll give account to God for that but I don't want to do that I want to follow the scriptures that does not make me a bigot if anything it makes me a Bible believer okay women sure have their place and women can do a lot for the Lord but being a pastor of a church is not one of the things that a woman should first Corinthians chapter 14 verse 29 let the prophets speak two or three and let the other judge alright this is still they're still doing some prophecies in this time period but when he's talking about prophets here he talked about those that are preaching the Word of God in this chapter of talking about prophesying it's preaching so it's in the setting of a church and a man preaches he's prophesying why because he's saying God says this and this is what's gonna happen in the future so I see he all he's doing is preaching here but he's here and it says let them have another man judge there should always be another man judging now was that what the Bible said or did that guy just make that up that guy just pulled that out of his rear end is that really what so there's always supposed to be someone there that when a man preaches someone says now that that's okay that aligns with the Bible okay if it doesn't you say no that doesn't that doesn't read what the Bible says and so it says in verse 30 if anything be revealed to another that sitteth by let the first oldest peace for ye may all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be comforted and the Spirit of the prophets are subject to the prophets very much so okay if a guy says I'm a prophet all right then let's look at what you said up guess what it wasn't the Holy Spirit of God it didn't take place like you said 90 days later that guy didn't get judge you do so guess what you're a liar and I can't follow you because you said something outside of the scriptures and you claim that God told you that and God didn't tell you that so we've always got to go back to the Word of God it's the more sure word of prophecy verse 93 for God is not the author of confusion but of peace as in all churches of the saints now should a woman prophesy or preach in the church like these four daughters first of all these four daughters of Philip weren't in the church they read their home okay but in a church should a woman speak in the sense of prophesying or preaching verse 34 let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted unto them to speak but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law and if they will learn anything let them ask their husbands at home for is a shame for a woman to speak in the church can you be any more plain Paul can you tell us what you really think Paul should a woman be a preacher or a pastor Paul says no it is a shame for a woman to in the context is preach or prophecy in the church it's a shame for a woman to be a preacher now 1st Timothy chapter 2 so the Bible clearly teaches that a woman is not supposed to be a pastor now I know that makes some people mad but I can't help but tell you what the Bible says God is is it changing okay he doesn't change his mind these same people think Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever and you say okay well you know Jesus said no woman passed well you know God changed his mind oh wait a minute what do you mean he changed his mind no the Bible says no women pastors first infinity to eleven and twelve let the women learn in silence with all subjection but I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man but to be in silence so the Apostle Paul under the influence of the Holy Spirit filled with the Holy Spirit guided by the Holy Spirit speaking the words of the Holy Spirit because that's what the Word of God is it's the Holy Spirit's words says women are not to be pastors or teachers according to the Word of God it's supposed to speak men a first time in chapter 3 verse 2 another another perfect passage a bishop then what's a bishop it's a pastor a bishop then must be blameless the husband of one wife notice what it says a bishop a bishop is a pastor a pastor is a man who has a wife it does not say and a bishop must be the wife of one husband it does not say that so a woman cannot be a pastor a pastor is to be a man now I don't want to get into this the world so wicked today I'm sure that some woman might say well then if I'm a woman and I get married to another woman then that means I can be a pastor according the Bible Oh oh that's another extreme I don't want to go to a please Lord please don't let anyone think that that would be crazy no it's supposed to be a man in a man who's married to a wife there's no women wearing women and men marrying men in the Bible that doesn't make sense so first 73 - now go to 1st to make 310 first of May 310 and let these also be first proved then let them use the office of a deacon being found blameless even so must their wives be grave not slanderers sober faithful in all things so a pastor a bishop verse two and a deacon verse 10 have to be men there are no women deacons in the Bible now unfortunately new versions of the Bible they actually translate in believe it's in Romans that so-and-so was a Deaconess in a church in Rome that is not the proper translation of that word the King James Bible says that she was a a servant or she was a helper in the church she would clean and she would do things she wasn't someone that taught deacons preach and teach we just saw that with Philip so in the Bible now let me show you another one Titus one five and six so I don't care if that offends people I really don't because that's God speaking not Robert breaker so if you're a woman and you're watching this and your blood is boiling and you're angry I just take it up with God would you please don't get angry with Robert breaker get angry with God because this is what God says in the Bible and the Bible is our more sure word of prophecy you might say no God spoke to me and God told me that I it's okay that I can be a woman preacher well I can't accept you because this is my more sure word of prophecy and it says no no a woman can't be a pastor so Titus one verse five and six for this cause left I thee in Crete that thou should have set in order the things that are wanting and ordain elders in every city as I had appointed thee and if any be blameless the husband of one wife what is this this is a bishop verse seven so a bishop or an elder is a pastor and the pastor is always to be a man and a woman is not supposed to prophesy preach in a church so you say so why then Robert breaker in acts 29 or 21 and verse 9 are the four daughters of Philip prophesied that's a good question first of all the Bible wasn't finished yet Paul hadn't finished writing all of his epistles secondly they weren't in the church they were in a home and thirdly they were good godly Christian women that weren't married and I guess the Holy Spirit laid on their heart to tell Paul hey Paul I'm not the smartest person in the world but I know one thing everybody Jerusalem hates you Paul and Paul if you go to Jerusalem they're gonna put you in Chains and what were they telling they were telling you no it's a no-brainer if that's what's gonna happen to you and they were saved and they had the Holy Spirit when they said that so that's how I see that now that's not allowing a woman to be a pastor anybody that tries to teach that acts 21:9 is God saying that a woman can be a preacher or a teacher they're twisting the Scriptures I've showed you the other verses to prove that now verse 10 and as we tarried there many days there came down from Judea certain prophet named agamous now again there's still prophets during this time because the entire Bible had not been finished yet so during this time in the book of Acts God is still speaking to people directly and that's neat that's great but once we get the final settled body book all 66 books God no longer talks to men one on one he says everything I want your notes right here you want me to talk to you you go to the scriptures in prayer it's how we talk to God so this guy named Agabus shows up now agamous was a prophet now go with me to first Corinthians chapter 12 there are some people that say well there's no prophets in the church age and all but yet the Bible teaches that yeah at the beginning and in the book of Acts there were prophets here's the Apostles they were the first ones and then there's also prophets there were people that prophesied in the book of Acts now again until the Bible was complete and then we didn't have any more prophets because the Word of God is the more sure word of prophecy okay but what does it say in first Corinthians chapter 12 verse 28 first Corinthians well playing and God had said some in the church first apostles secondarily prophets thirdly teachers after that miracles then gives me and on and on not so definitely there were some prophets during the time of the church before the Bible was complete there's no denying that fact what many tried to do today especially in the Pentecostal charismatic church is they try to say and they're still prophets today and so they say that God will talk to a person today and give them a special specific prophecy and then they can get up and say though so the Lord God told me this that the other thing and usually what they say God told them comes out to be not true like this fella in Pensacola who was a pastor that said God's gonna do something to that guy in 90 days and in 90 days exactly something happened to him proving he was a false prophet God did not tell him that so you've got to be careful of people who claim to be prophets now Ephesians 2:20 and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone so here we have the foundation of the apostles and prophets so there are definitely were prophets during the time of the book of Acts clearly I can't deny that and I won't but the question is are there prophets today and the answer is no there aren't people today that God talks to and they said no go tell the whole world that I told you this and everything that God wants us to preach to the world is in the Bible it's our more sure word of prophecy you have to watch out for people that say God told me those said the Lord lists out of the other thing you know here's an example there was a famous so-called prophet II from Tulsa Oklahoma and he got up on the on the TV screen and he says God visited me he was a hundred foot tall and Jesus Christ told me that unless you give me eight million dollars he would kill me and he said that's what God told him to tell the world now I don't understand why people would send him a ten eight million dollars I want to see if he's telling the truth or not I wouldn't send him a dime I just wait and think what did happen yet but they literally sent the guy eight million dollars because they believed that God was 100 foot tall and that he saw him and God told him that I don't I just to this day I don't understand how people believe that guy so you got to watch out there are a lot of fakers out there there are a lot of people out there that are not Bible believers and they will make up their own prophecies and then they'll tell you though this is what God told me to tell you I was in the charismatic church before I got safe for four years I was in assembly God Church and I remember guys would come into the church and they'd say help let's go Sunday law so la palabra and they do their little tongues whatever stuff most of all over double you know and then they say Oh God's telling me that oh you are gonna marry someone in two months and you're gonna have four kids why I just blew I just got that from the Lord and you look at that yo oh yeah all right I'll write it down two months goes by guys not married four months goes by guys not married eight months ago but two years go by guys not married turns out the guys homosexual and I'm just like so that guy was a liar that was not a prophecy from Jesus Christ but yeah they loved it in that oh Jesus me one time I went to a charismatic church and I just gotten saved and God showed me that that's not the place for me because they didn't preach the doctrine of the truth of the Scriptures but I went there because my mom took me there I didn't want to go there you know she didn't know any better at the time and and she took me there and this guy was going around to the Pew he said oh I've got a I've got a word from the Lord for you God is telling you this that and the other thing oh he's speaking to me now and he and the guys going around saying that God is speaking to him and telling people what to say and then he starts going wait a minute there's a demon in this congregation the Holy Spirit of God is telling me that there is a demon here I go oh boy here we go he starts walking down the aisle toward me and I said Heavenly Father Holy Spirit of God I think this man has a demon lord god protect me from this man in the name of Jesus I ask God plead the blood over me in Jesus name and that man comes up to me and he puts his hand up and he goes there's a demon he comes to me and I go both ain't me cuz I'm watching the blood of Jesus Christ and the blood of Jesus cleansed me from all my sin and that meant when there's the demon right there and I looked at that and I said that man has a demon here he was coming to me ain't gonna try to put his hand on me and try to deceive all those people into thinking that I had a demon and I said Lord God thank you that I'm saved and I'm washing the blood and I'm not deceived it to believe in a liar like this man and it was so scary how he went like the demon inside of winter and he went over and he said this man here has a demon now I just said they're kind of chuckle nested Lord that man is not a prophet because the Holy Spirit of God would not tell that man that this guy right here who saved has a demon and I got up walked out and I to this day I still see people deceived by those Pentecostals because they think that they're prophets today and they think that they can say things and they believe the Holy Spirit speaking through them they don't understand the Word of God is our more sure word of prophecy so that was my experience with these people that claim to be prophets and I said no I don't want anything to do with them I have a Bible that's all I need I don't need a man to tell me something I need God to tell me something so anyway where are we here we went to Ephesians that I read Ephesians three five fusions three five which in other ages has not made known of the sons of manis is now revealed on his holy apostles and prophets by the spirit so yes in the book of Acts there are prophets but 90 ad is when the last book of the Bible was written and that was the book of Revelation and it was written by John once that finished the New Testament Canon and all 66 books of the Bible were written you don't read anywhere after that where there's prophets that are going around saying God speaking to me and God's told me to tell you this and guys telling me to tell you that guy you don't see that matter of fact you find out in the book of Revelation itself there are people that come around and say that they're apostles and John tells us they have been found liars so there were people going around saying I'm an apostle and God's speaking to me oh and I'm gonna prophesy and he goes nope you're liars you're liars so be very careful of people that claim to be a prophet and claim to say God speak into me to go to give you this message you better watch out you better watch you well a long ways to move so let's go on alright so verse 9 now verse 10 they tarried there many days there came down from Judea a certain prophet named agamous yes because at that time there were still prophets because they completed cannon of wasn't done yet he's come unto us he took Paul's girdle and bound his own hands and feet and said thus saith the Holy Ghost so shall the Jews in Jerusalem bind the man that owned it this mural and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles so the Holy Spirit is literally speaking through this man agamous but we don't see that happening today because now the Holy Spirit speaks through its word the completed New Testament and Old Testament though the whole Bible so verse 20 verse 12 and when we heard these things both we and they of that place besought him not to go up to Jerusalem then Peter answered what meaning you to weep and to break my heart for I'm ready not to be bound only but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Paul says look you could say whatever you want I could care less I am ready to die for Jesus that reminds me of Philippians 1:21 Paul writes these words Philippians 1:21 these are wonderful amazing words Paul says in Philippians 1:21 for me to live is Christ and to die is gain the Apostle Paul says look I'd rather die than live if I can die for Jesus that's how much I love Jesus Jesus Christ loved me enough to die for me shed his blood on the cross for my sins I love him enough to die for him for me to live as Christ the only was the reason that I want to live is to live to continue preaching the blood of Christ in the way of salvation but when I die a man that's gain why would Paul say dying his gain because the place in heaven is prepared for him he says man dying is the greatest thing in the world cuz I'm gonna go up and be with Jesus so while I'm still alive here well I guess I'll just keep on preaching for you try to get more people say so Paul is ready to die Paul is ready to die for Jesus Christ first 14 we would not be persuaded we've ceased saying the will of the Lord be done well that's just it is the will of the Lord done here Paul is going against the will of the Lord the Lord the Holy Ghost is saying through activists don't go to Jerusalem Paul if you do you're going to get put in Chains Paul says well my will is I'm to do it anyway and then all the people say well the will Lord be so was that the will of the Lord that Paul go to Jerusalem and be put in Chains no so what we find in the Bible we find two different types of the will of the Lord let's go to Romans chapter 12 let me I'll try to explain this you see God allows men free will and this is one of the greatest passages in the Bible to prove that free will Paul says of my own free will I'm going to Jerusalem I don't care if I die Paul the Holy Spirit says don't I don't care I'm gonna do it anyway what did he do he he had free will he disobeyed God if that doesn't prove free well I don't know what does the Lord says in Romans chapter 12 verse 1 and 2 I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God alright so God has his perfect will in your life and you're supposed to do it but a lot of times we don't get in the perfect will of God a lot of times we do dumb things and we get out of the perfect will of God so what does God do well he says well you got right your repentance so well it's acceptable it's not exactly what I wanted you to do but I'll settle for second-best so God has his permissive will and God has his direct will and the direct will of God was Paul go the other most part of the earth don't go back to Jerusalem Paul says I'm going anyway the Holy Spirit just said Paul don't so Paul says okay I'm gonna permit you to do that it's not what I want but I'll allow it and God allows us to do some stupid things sometimes in this life and we by our own free will do very stupid things sometimes and God can use our stupidity thank God for that so here Paul says look I'm gonna do what I want to do I'll die I don't care and when I read that when I think about that I always think of Jonah God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach and Jonah says nope he went the opposite direction Paul tells our Jesus tells Paul go to the Gentiles and Paul says nope I'm goin the the directions kind of sounds like Jonah all over again what did you God do with Jonah well he put him through some stuff and in the end Jonah went to Nineveh anyway so what we're gonna see in the life of Paul is Paul says no I'm going back to Jerusalem and God says no you go to Rome well he ended up going to Rome anyway he just didn't get to go first class like he could have if he went for now he's going in Chains so God has his way of getting things done but we also have a free will and we can choose not to do what God says and oftentimes we don't do it the way God wants it done we ended up doing it the wrong way it's just it's so sad free will is a blessing and it's a curse isn't it but anyway here we see Paul saying you know I'm gonna do what I want to do I'm gonna go to Jerusalem anyway he says I'm not I'm ready not to be bound only but also to die Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ now verse 14 now when he would not be persuaded we see saying well alright the will have already done what what will the permissive will of God the directive will of God was don't go Paul says I'm gonna go anyway they said okay well God's gonna let him go so let God's permissive will be done or 15 and after those days we took up our carriages and went and up to Jerusalem there went with us also certainly the disciples of Caesarea and brought with them one man nation of Cyrus Cyprus an old disciple with whom we should Lodge alright so they took with them a guy named man Eason what a weird name mination but he was from Cyprus but it looked like he had some sort of home in Jerusalem or 17 and when we were come to Jerusalem the Brethren received us gladly so here the brother and are together and they were received by Paul or no they're received by the Brethren and Paul is received by the Brethren in Jerusalem so they end up making it to Jerusalem so this is what we've read so far and this is Paul going to Jerusalem against the will of God and so the Christians say well the will of the Lord be so even though Paul was following his own will so here we go he does that well I guess I'll stop there because I mean this I don't know how long we'll go next time I thought we were gonna get through this all in one chapter but we're gonna have to go and stop there we've been gone about 57 minutes I hope this is a blessing this is really interesting I kind of went into detail about a lot of too much I kind of went off on tangents a little bit this time but I want you to really get a hold of that idea of people today who say they're a prophet be careful of that be careful try the spirits the Bible says and watch out because the Bible says in the last days there will be people that run around and they're full of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils and yet Paul says they appear as the ministers of light and we see that today there are a lot of false denominations within Christianity and a lot of people that claim to be Christians that claimed and they may even tell the truth and of a future but you know even a devil can tell the truth always make sure whatever someone says lines up with the scriptures because it is our more sure war policy that's all I have to say about that I'd like to go more than that but that's about all I can do so there we go I'll stop there and then next time we'll continue here in Acts chapter 21 hope this is a blessing I've left
