Good afternoon, today I want to interpret for you a tango that I have arranged for guitar and voice by Carlos Gardel, Alfredo Le Pera and Horacio Pettorossi called Silencio. This tango tells the story of a woman who raises 5 children, 5 brothers who are recruited for the war, they die there for the homeland and in the end they give the mother five medals for each child who looks at them sad every night because one medal is not worth a life. Gardel interprets this tango in the film Melodía de arrabal, which he also stars in and they say that this story was inspired by Gardel and Le Pera's visit to a cemetery in France for the fallen during the First World War where they saw the graves of these five brothers and This woman, they say that it could actually be four children and not five, they also say that it may refer to the Chaco War between Bolivia and Paraguay, where Argentina and France supported Paraguay in this conflict. Coincidentally, there are five brothers who died in this war, this was one of the hardest wars in South America in the 20th century, affecting all of humanity like every war in this world. Another of the theories about the history of this tango indicates that at that time Paul Doumer and his wife lost four children in the war and this could also inspire the history of this tango but it is true that the lyrics refer only to the mother as if she were a widow and the president was assassinated, and there is also a legend or hypothesis that Gardel was probably born in France, although Gardel's provenance is not clear and that perhaps one of those graves was that of a relative of his. So there are several theories that speak of different families that could inspire this story but in the end, in short, what it comes to say is the pain, the devastation that war causes in a family, in all humanity and in the end you do not know what are you fighting for, for the homeland? a medal will never make up for a life. I hope you like my arrangement very much, I have tried to do it my way with the guitar with strums, with different types of arpeggios, I have also included the flamenco tremolo with four fingers thumb index ring middle index (piami) since in the original Gardel sings with a chorus in some verses of the song and I have replaced this chorus with tremolo. It is one of the most beautiful tangos that exist and I hope you like my interpretation very much . If so, you can subscribe, like, comment what you think, what makes you feel and also share the YouTube link with your friends, thank you very much for watching. Silence at night, everything is calm, the muscle sleeps, ambition rests, rocking a cradle a mother sings a beloved song that reaches the soul because in that cradle is her hope there were 5 siblings, she was a saint, they were 5 kisses that each morning touched the silver threads of that old woman with very white hair very tender , there were five children who went to the workshop in silence at night, everything is calm, the muscle sleeps, the ambition works, a bugle is heard , the country is in danger and at the war cry, men kill themselves covering the fields of France with blood today everything has passed, flowers on the plants, a hymn to life the plows sing and the old woman with very white gray hair was left very alone with five medals awarded by the motherland for five heroes silence at night, everything is calm, the muscle sleeps, ambition rests, a distant chorus of mothers who sing rocking new hopes in their cradle silence in the night silence in the souls
