I'm often asked where would I recommend starting a new save well for starting locations we have the grassy Fields the rocky desert the Northern Forest and the Dune desert each of these biomes is debatably good for a given type of player and Within These biomes are some incredible starting positions one which you probably haven't considered before but the question isn't which starting spot is best or even perfect but which start synergizes best with your given play style which is why we'll cover each starting biome and afterwards each of the spots I would recommend depending on your play style so if you find this helpful do hit the thumbs up and let me know where your favorite start position is and of course if you want more don't forget to subscribe now the first volume that we can choose from is the grassy fields and is often disregarded by players due to it being filled with well nothing thing it has the poorest of quality resource notes and fewer rarer minerals there's also a lack of water which makes it slightly more difficult for players experimenting with fluids for the first time that's why this is pretty much a no-go for most players and in 90 percent of cases it would be better to head to the rocky desert with that said the rocky desert as a biome is on the whole one of the best it's almost as flat as the grassy fields which make it great for players who want to build Mega factories it has a great selection of nodes many of which are pure quality and it is surrounded by rarer resources not to mention heaps of coal and vegetation which make it fantastic for the early to mid game and even progress passing to the late game this spine was surrounded by oil Rich environments bulk site nodes and though they're high up also uranium the same cannot be said though for the Dune desert this is certainly more suited for advanced players as the whole biome is locked in and surrounded by creatures however if you're using passive mode this might just be for you the biome has a few areas where there's lots of vegetation available for the early game and the biome is full of all nodes of various qualities and is pretty close to all rarer Resources with the exception of oil bauxite and uranium that being said with the open space the dunes can once again be considered great for larger factories which then brings us to the opposite which is the Northern Forest this is unfortunately or fortunately depending on which way you look at it the densest biome both in terms of terrain and vegetation as well as resource notes this makes it challenging to a lot of players but also very rewarding if you're happy to build a factory in the sky this could definitely be at the top of your priority list whereas those who want to make their Factory physics based will have to cope with the winding Cliffs and dense forestry to deal with the that does make this particular area a great spot for players who want to try and work with the nature and I've seen some incredible factories that blend in with the environment most notably stin Archie's Eden Project whose Factory I covered in a tour I'll put a link to that in the top right corner now if you want some inspiration now that we've got a more General feel of the biomes let's have a look more in detail at the specific spots I would recommend so in the Northern Forest there are three particular spots firstly is right by the coal Oasis I will call it this is a particularly tight area so you'll probably want to go to the edge of the Titan forest or just in there in order to build here this is going to be where the copper is located that you're going to need and here you've got a fair amount of space pure copper nodes iron Limestone and coal nodes are plenty but also access to sulfur and Criterium and there's also quartz easily accessible though it's slightly further away as well as some oil over in the Great Lakes this makes it a really good position the second location however is at the center of the forest this is probably the most popular one for the Northern Forest start um where most new players start off this is because it has a good amount of space for a starting Factory with plenty of iron copper and Limestone however everything else is a little bit further away so you're going to have to venture out for that and then we have the third spot which is touted as the perfect start position located on the cliffs by the rocky desert estri we have a spot that has four pure iron nodes two pure copper notes two pure Limestone nodes two people quartz known to a pure coal and there's also caterium silver and oil and uranium actually all nearby the only thing that it doesn't have is bauxite and let's face it you're not going to need that for a while so it really isn't that necessary there is one other very good starting point though which I've not heard talked about and that's south of the rocky desert but before we head there let's go and have a look at the Dune desert now as mentioned the Dune desert is great for more advanced players especially those who want a large open space and plan to do large builds the whole biome is swamped with notes but the best is probably just north of the small Lake this gives you plenty of foliage access to several normal coal notes for early power as well as pure iron copper and Limestone this isn't great as you don't have the rarer resources close by with the exception of some sulfur but it does serve as a great spot to expand outwards and harvest the notes as you go and then you can reach out to the rarer resources now let's talk about the grassy Fields as I mentioned this is terrible for most players but with new players who might want to experience building first before being thrown into larger manufacturing lines they may actually prefer this biome so just south of the giant Stone Archway we have a selection of nodes all of which are of normal quality and there is also a pure coal node as well as a normal sulfur node nearby it's not a great starting spot but it's probably the best that you're going to get in this biome unless of course you head north along the coast to the rocky desert now nestled between the two in the forests is my new start position and in my opinion one of the best start locations in the game this has several pure iron notes which are great for early game a pure copper node which is all you need in the early game as well as a couple of pure Limestone notes now a touch further out there's pure Criterium a selection of normal coal nodes and a handful of oil nodes and quartz relatively nearby slightly further out but easy tag to get to the great thing though about this start is the water to the West this obviously won't appeal for those who dislike building on the water but it offers a perfectly flat area to expand out onto which is great for taking beautiful screenshots and has easy access to the rocky desert if you want to expand your factories to another location later on with plenty more nodes and if you want to see me build here do make sure to join my streams over on Twitch or to watch our new let's play series that we're going to be focusing on with blueprint in mind from the get-go but that will be coming soon now finally we do have the rocky desert now we've already pointed out my favorite spot and arguably the perfect spot over in the Estuary uh which is perfect for most players however the rocky desert has two more good positions firstly in the far Northwest of the map the Cliffside holds ample pure nodes of iron copper and Limestone with plenty of other nodes nearby the downside is that though this has plenty of foliage it does like rarer resources which makes it a great location for a starter Factory or a place to pull in your resources for a mega Factory before expanding outwards now if you're looking for a spot that has all of that and more do check out the south location of the small Lake in the Rocky desert you'll find pure iron and copper notes unfortunately you will be having to harvest limestones from one of four normal Limestone notes but they're all relatively nearby but this shouldn't be considered too big of a negative as there are several coal nodes at the top of the cliff making it perfect for an early mid Factory offering easy power and steel production you can also get hold of Criterium nearby though its lack of close quartz sulfur and oil notes make it slightly less appealing than other stars regardless if you're up for a good start into mid game before locating to another resource heavy area this could be a great spot for you offering everything that you need but that's all I have for this one let me know your thoughts below and if you'd like me to cover perfect factories for the various areas such as where I'd place a battery Factory or an aluminum setup then let me know in the comments below and we'll do maybe a a map plotting all of that out but guys thank you for watching and thank you to all of our amazing supporters on patreon who without them I can do this content most notably our solo Eclipse patrons James Irwin fire flesh treble and Beowulf as well as our Lunas the Calamity band star Shoku the Emma North and that dude aw as well as our blood moon of the day which today is Chick Norris until next time as always ciao for now
