okay good morning we gather together name the father the son the holy spirit amen and the grace and the peace of god our father and the lord jesus christ be with you all today we celebrate the memorial of saint casmir who was born in 1458 as the son of the king of poland he practiced the christian virtues to a high degree especially chastity and kindness to the poor he was zealous for the faith and fervently devoted to the eucharist and the blessed virgin mary and he died of consumption in 1484. let's be prepared for this mass and his honor by asking the lord's forgiveness for our own sinfulness lord jesus you have shown us the way to the father lord have mercy lord jesus you have given us the consolation of the truth christ have mercy lord jesus you are the good shepherd leading us into everlasting life lord have mercy may almighty god have mercy on us and forgive us our sins and bring us all in everlasting life amen let us pray almighty god to serve you is to reign grant spirit one god forever and ever a reading from the letter saint paul to the philippians sisters and brothers i consider everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing christ jesus my lord for his sake i have accepted the loss of all things and i consider them so much rubbish that i may gain christ and be found in him not having any righteousness of my own based on the law but that which comes through faith in christ the righteousness from god depending on faith to know him and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by being conformed to his death if somehow i may attain the resurrection from the dead it is not that i've already taken hold of it or have already attained perfect maturity but i continue my pursuit and hope that i may possess it since i have indeed been taken possession by christ jesus sisters and brothers i for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession just one thing forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead i continue my pursuit toward the goal the prize of god's upward calling in christ jesus the lord of the lord a response the just one shall live on your holy mountain o lord mountain o lord who lends not his money at usury and accepts no bribe against the innocent he who does these things shall never be disturbed the just one shall live on your only mountain oh lord the lord be with you this is a reading from the holy gospel according to john jesus said to his disciples as the father loves me so i also love you remain in my love if you keep my commandments you will remain in my love just as i have kept my father's commandments and remain in his love i've told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete this is my commandment love one another as i love you no one has greater love than this to lay down one's life for one's friends you are my friends if you do what i command you i no longer call you slaves because a slave does not know what his master is doing i have called you friends because i have told you everything i have heard from my father it was not you who chose me but i who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain so that whatever you ask the father in my name he may give you this i command you love one another the gospel of the lord trusting the lord's mercy let us humbly turn to god to present our needs for the church throughout the world for all who have been appointed her leaders and for all who share in one baptism we profess we pray to the lord hear us for a quick end to the war faithfulness we pray to the lord hear us so lord for michael veltrey and for all those who have died may they be welcomed into eternal joy by the angels and saints in heaven we pray to the lord all of our hearts deepest intentions for these we pray to the lord hear us good and gracious god hear these prayers we offer you today for we offer them through your son jesus christ our lord r amen so blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we've received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we receive the wine we offer you fruit of the vine and work of human hands it will become for us our spiritual drink must be god forever okay pray my friends that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at our hands for the praise and the glory of his name for our good but of all his holy church we offer our lord the sacrifice of our lenten observance praying that it may make our intentions acceptable to you and add to our powers of self-restraint through christ our lord amen the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you will that our self-denial should give you thanks humble our sinful pride contribute to the feeding of the poor and so help us imitate you in your kindness and so we glorify you with countless angels as with one voice of praise we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord son of the highest you are indeed holy o lord that all you have created rightly gives you praise for through your son our lord jesus christ by the power and working of the holy spirit you give life to all things and you make them holy you never cease to gather a people to yourself so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name therefore lord we humbly implore you by the same spirit graciously make holy these gifts that we've brought to you for consecration that they may become the body and the blood of your son our lord jesus christ at whose command we celebrate these mysteries for on the night he was betrayed he himself took bread and giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and giving you thanks he said the blessing gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith we proclaim your death o lord and profess your resurrection until you come again therefore oh lord as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your son his wonders resurrection and ascension into heaven and as we look forward to his second coming we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice look we pray upon the oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself rather we who are nourished by the body and blood of your son may be filled with this holy spirit and become one body one spirit in christ may he make of us an eternal offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect especially with the most blessed virgin mary the mother of god joseph her beloved husband with jude and your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs saint kasmir and all the saints on his constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help may this sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray o lord advance the peace and the salvation of all the world be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth with your servant francis our pope lawrence our bishop the order of bishops all of the clergy and religious and the entire people you have gained for your own listen graciously to the prayers of this family that you have summoned here before you in your compassion oh merciful father gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world and remember your servant michael veltry whom you have called from this world to yourself grant that michael who was united with your son in a death like his may also be one with him in his resurrection when from the earth he will raise up in the flesh those who have died and transform our lowly body after the pattern of his own glorious body to our departed sisters and brothers too and to all who are pleasing to you at their passing from this life give kind admittance to your kingdom there we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory when you will wipe away every tear from our eyes for seeing you our god as you are we shall be like you for all the ages and praise you without end through christ our lord to whom he bestown the world all that is good through him with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are your words forever lord jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give to you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign for ever and ever amen the peace of the lord be with you
