today I'm going to give you a list of seven  super simple basic little tips and tricks in   DaVinci Resolve to make your editing workflow  a bit more efficient and your videos a little   bit better even in the free version of DaVinci  Resolve here we go okay so you all know that I   love adjustment Clips right because they're so  versatile you can color grade in them and then   easily and quickly apply that color grade to all  your Clips by extending the adjustment clip or   you can also apply effects to adjustment Clips  or key frames so yeah super versatile but some   of you have been asking in the comments how can  I save an adjustment clip so that I don't have   to apply all the effects color grades and key  frames all over again every time I start a new   project and well I can't believe that I haven't  answered this yet because yeah it is possible   and it's super simple in the media pool just  hit the three dots here select show Power bins   and then we'll just drag your adjustment clip  containing all your effects and adjustments   to the power bin and now it will be saved there  and and you can use that adjustment clip in all   your old and new projects but not only adjustment  Clips because you can drop pretty much anything in   a power bin maybe you have an animated title  that you customized well just drop it in the   power bin and boom you have it available in  all your projects or a music track that you   use a lot and maybe it also has some effects  drop it in the power bin and boom just keep it   a little bit organized you know create subfolders  so that you don't get lost in your own power bins so I told someone on Instagram about this tip a  few weeks ago and you know what their response   was oh that makes your channel and by extension  you completely Obsolete and unnecessary well yeah   maybe I don't know so I might be sabotaging  my own channel here but I don't care in Avent   resolve if you click on help and then training  there's a whole bunch of official D Vinci resolve   training videos and they're actually great  I've learned a lot from watching those videos   and not everything is there but if you want some  basic training go check it [Music] out composite   mode is something I use when I want to try out  some things when I want to experiment a little bit   because sometimes the results look surprisingly  good I've already shown you composite mode set to   screen right and then it basically turns all the  black areas in an image or a video transparent   and you can use it to create a rain effect or a  smoke effect or whatever other effect also this   effect for example where it looks like you're  looking through my computer screen but that's   all done with the composite mode set to screen  and well as you can see there's a bunch of other   settings and sometimes I just experiment with  them especially when I'm customizing animated   titles or when I want to create a custom  transition because like I said sometimes   the result looks surprisingly cool and you might  even create something unique so give it a try   check out composite mode and you know what else  you should check out well this could actually be   tip number eight go check out audio the sponsor  of this video new music being added all the time   new features being added all the time they  also have a bunch of new sound effects now   I mean what more do you want right I use audio  for my background music my YouTube projects spec   commercials cinematic sequences you name it all  the music comes from audio and like I said they've   recently expanded their sound effects library and  I can't stress it enough a sound effect here and   there can really make the difference and on top  of all that they also offer AI features that are   actually useful you don't see that a lot right  so go check them out and use my link and code   in the description and of course thank you so  much audio for supporting my channel okay next   tip I actually don't know for sure if I have  mentioned this before or not so well if I have   here it is again how to save your project settings  so that you don't have to adjust all the settings   every time you start a new project in the project  settings first put everything the way you want and   then go to the three dots here and then just save  as your default starting settings for every new   project or create a preset you know you can create  a 4K preset a 60 frames per second preset whatever   anything you want this is something I started  using not too long ago actually shame on me   here's a super simple trick to make your editing  a bit more efficient and faster usually whenever   I'm editing a video I drop an adjustment clip  somewhere and I apply the grid effect to that clip   and then I can use it to easily and quickly align  stuff for example whenever I do a zoom effect or   when I do one of these jump Zoom Cuts I don't  know how to call those you know but the thing   is if you want to do something like that you have  to make sure that the eyes are in the exact same   position before and after the zoom or the jump  cut and with that Grid it's just so much easier   to get it exactly right but of course you can  use the grid to align a bunch of other stuff too and here's another super simple tip but if you  haven't been using it or you just don't know   about it well you're missing out add stuff  to your favorites there must be effects or   titles or I don't know things that you use all  the time right for example for these talking   head videos there are a few titles that I  use every time well I've added those to my   favorites just by clicking on the star here but  also effects in the edit page or in the color page   just hit the little star and they're added to  your favorites it'll save you so much time in   the long [Music] run and another super simple  tip that has saved me I don't know how many   times especially when recording videos like  this because well you probably know that when   editing a talking head video you usually start  by cutting out everything you don't need right   all the silences but also for example whenever  I mess up something or I say something that   doesn't make sense or I make a weird sound yeah  that does happen a lot so I cut out all those   things and usually it's fine you can't hear  all those cuts but sometimes especially when   I cut out something mids sentence you can hear  that there's a hard cut in the sound it sounds   harsh like it's not natural not fluent start  a new project and project and project and well   and even if the video the image looks fine and  you can't see the cut well you can hear hear it   because there's that harsh weird sound anyway  just a short Crossfade on the audio of a cut   like that usually fixes it project and well I  I start a new project and well I can't believe that start a new project and well I  can't believe project and well it's   a simple little trick and well I don't  use it all the time but it has saved me   more than once and that's it seven simple  little tricks that will make your editing   a bit more efficient and your videos  a little bit better thank you so much   for watching I'll see you in the next one wow  it's hot in my studio summer has started Sal
