six developers make a video game each Creator gets a few days to work on the project then passes it along the twist being that no communication between them is allowed as you seen in the past this can lead to horrifying chaos Bloodshed and low poly hands helicopters can turn into superheroes and giant centipedes May spring out of nowhere speaking of which we've just made our very first Kickstarter it's called juicy centipedes it's the game nobody asked for but as a wise man once said all games need centipedes so here we are this card game is filled to the brim with them as well as heaps of chaotic strategy and seriously guys you are going to absolutely love this game but more than that later for now let's get started on this brand new project with developer number one hi there I'm C Dev a games programmer working on his first theme game idle Fields I'm extremely excited to start this project and deciding on the direction of the challenge the first thing I did was think of some ideas I decided on a first person game where you gather resources for some reason I was set on a drone picking up stuff for you so that was one of the first things I did next up I made objects that you destroy with some nice UI to go along with it drone now also flies around trying to pick up the drops however currently it only deletes the items so let's add an inventory for the player I made it super easy to add new items into the game so fingers crossed whoever is up next can keep adding more content finally I made a crafting system and threw together a few objects we've got a crafting table where you can turn stones into more Stones I'm not a games designer there's also an anvil where you can make a sword that does absolutely nothing the UI for the crafting is generated from the recipes so that's again one spot where people can keep adding content lastly I spend a fair bit of time polishing by simply adding a bunch of twins everywhere and it looks really nice and smooth now that's all the time I had though I'm really happy with what I've managed to make although I didn't add any core game Loop and the Drone feels a bit out of place I feel like I've got a basic start and I'm really excited to see what this product turns into thanks for having me and good luck to the next Dev before we move on to the second developer I think it's important that we talk about the centipede in the room our new card game for two to four players now on Kickstarter juicy centipedes every turn you either place a centipede or move one centipedes come in all shapes and sizes with different abilities such as freezing minions protecting moving Ultra fast and even hatching slimy eggs that boost your final score it's pure positional strategy so despite the cartoony visuals it's got a chest like quality that we absolutely love you can check out the kickstarter with the link in the description be super appreciated if you give it a good look consider actually backing us on Kickstarter make centipedes mainstream make this a reality it's seriously a great game so check out the kickstarter and with that said let's just move on to the second developer on this really exciting project hello everyone I'm rugbug I'm currently working on a multiplayer FPS with grapple hooks on Steam called red match 2 if you want to check it out seeing the craft crafting system and resource Gathering made me think of a classic Survival game like Minecraft but that didn't feel very original and I wanted to try a unique idea so after brainstorming for a bit I came up with a structure for the game it would be a Rog like where you try to see how many levels you can descend through there would be a starting area slh home base where you could return to and craft new weapons and items the further you got the more rare and Powerful the materials would be and this would drive the progression for the game going deeper made you more powerful which let you go even deeper and you're constantly drawn by the Curiosity of what comes next next first I modeled the tree and rock which would be the most basic resources and made the player able to hold the sword next I created the home base I found a dungeon tile set that fit perfectly with the game style and used it to create an enclosure for the main area I also added some God rays and grass for variety I added an attack to the sword and made it so that you would have to destroy some Vines to leave the main area this forced players to gather resources and craft before they left teaching the main mechanics of the game it also ensured they couldn't go fight enemies empty handed at this point I was feeling like the Drone clashed a little bit with the artistic Vision but I didn't want to outright remove it because someone had probably spent a lot of time programming this so instead I turned it into a fairy hey with all that out of the way it was time to start on the first level I chose an enemy model off of poly do pizza and got its AI working with a nav mesh for my final additions I gave Health to the player and enemies populated the scene with some resources you could gather made a way to descend to the next level and return to the home base and to finish it all off I added a main menu remember to check out red match 2 on Steam that's it for me hey everyone it's D here from cin and I am the developer of 2D platformer engine volatile engine and FPS engine the winner of the best development tool Award of the asset story this year so I just got the files for the challenge and first impressions holy someone has been cooking this game already so we got looting crafting weapons items beautiful graphics and the FPS controller anyway so the first thing I decided to add was a banana because if someone tells you that I've been in the past the game Challenge and I didn't add a banana that someone is a liar and by the way I literally just used the same model from last challenge so don't mind if I do also quickly modeled a vo and Naru and added it to the game like it's now it's it's now work come on it's not working you can shoot enemies and all that stuff so that's going to be my additions regarding weapons and items for this challenge moving on I also decided to add another enemy but honestly I didn't really have time to model animate and rig enemies so I just copy and paste it this big boy and made it small and angry so it moves fasters and Deals a lot of damage so it's pretty much like one of those annoying little zombies in Minecraft that everyone hates yeah I also f like the map was hella empty not going to lie so I made some vegetation and other Forest props in blender and the made it extra spicy and now it looks like this previously you could return to the home base by selecting this Cube kind of and I you know I thought it would be cooler if you could just teleport to to the home so yeah I decided that a portal that takes you to the home base or a brand new level that I also to cooked and to follow along with the theme of the game I called Crystal covers so it's a covern with crystals and I think it's pretty cool right I also made it so you can actually load the glowing crystals with the hopes that the next STS will make something cool with it because honestly I just couldn't do anything else so while I was wrapping up and organizing the folders I found this no way bro remember this I do really have time to model animate and rig enemies well apparently someone already spent a bunch of their time modeling rigging and animating this cool animes and I completely ignore that so whoever did this I'm truly sorry I didn't intend to ignore your work anyway time to pass the project files to the next Dev make sure to check FPS engine out and subscribe to our YouTube channel bye-bye hey everybody my name is Joe Sullivan I'm the floman seeds and spells which is a cozy apocalyptic game where you grow spells to save your forest from deforestation check it out on Steam all right first impression I really like the visuals and there's a great structure here to make an action crafting game let's get to it the game currently has three stages you craft a weapon fight some enemies and then gather resources but Gathering resources felt flat without a challenge so I combine the last two stages so enemies spawn over time while you gather now the player will have to balance risk versus reward it felt cheap having the enemies spawn out of nowhere so I built a Cloud Dragon that drops the enemies from the sky making the dragon was surprisingly easy since it's just simple models following a path at different starting points next I wanted to give something to work towards more reason to risk danger so I added new resources to the game bronze silver and gold bars that you can create and use to craft upgraded versions of your weapons with these new objectives the gameplay Loop is feeling fun and addictive but it's pretty difficult so I upped the player speed and health the game didn't have any music so I opened up FL Studios and started making a song it began simple and classical and fit the game and then caffeine took over my body and I made [Music] [Applause] this at this point I had some extra time so I 3D scanned my cat Phoebe and hid her in the game see if you can find her thank you so much Blackthorn PR I can't wait to do the next one and if it's your thing check out Flor romancer on [Music] spe hi my name is Eugene and I am a team member of Electa Souls games we are working on Project iron it is high oon action platform featuring an alien creature as protagonism and instant Dan cand the demo is already on Steam let's start the challenge and see what I can improve we have a firstperson game with small areas and angry enemies hm for me it sounds like Doom but to make it feel like Doom we have some work to do firstly we need to add enemy waves and block exit from the area until we Kill All Enemies in all wave now let's add stfe in any direction Next Step let's add a stun state in Doom player will get various pickups after executing the enemy we will do almost the same the enemy will drop Health bonuses only where killed being stunned also the enemy can be stunned only once now let's add shooter enemies to balance out shooter enemies let's add the ability to reflect projectiles now it feels like a mini version of Doom the player is mile the enemies end forcing him to constantly move and the player should risk sometimes to kill stun at once for get him Health UPS my work is done here don't forget to check project in my name is Dan deer and I'm working on a Rog likee dungeon crowler Hollow survivors the thing I value in games the most is combat so I decided to make this sword fun to use taking inspiration from an old classic I used to play when I was young Dark Messiah I implemented new animations for quick attacks and also an animation for a Charged attack to make the animations less repetitive I mirror them when the player makes few consecutive attacks I have also added these blast blots when the player hits an enemy and lastly I've added sound effects here's a before and [Music] after [Music] okay before we move on to the grand finale precour announcement we're offering you a special opportunity to take your very first steps into the world of game development by actually making three complete small video games a fast-paced and mind twisting reflex based game a cute random City generator and a fireball hurling simulator this is the first step to making your dream of becoming a game creator a reality so just check out the link in the description completely free it's our gift to the blank prod community and with that said let's now move on to the final developer hey everybody Ryan from constellation creative here joining me in this project we nacho star on UI art JT on level design modeling and game design coordination and a friend of ours Max X NOA who created some additional models in the game like statues cobweb scorpions and crafting tables the project came us with a lot to Envision we had all the core features there but the game Loop needed work we employed our tried andrue game Jam breakdown method JT did a game design document outlining what we had in the project already where we needed to go and we did a task list for all the participants things got a bit Loosey Goosey towards the end but that's how it always is when you're under time constraints after fixing the bugs in the project I did a bit of investigative work to figure out how things were working we settled on a game Loop where you have to unlock each Zone but once you have it's way quicker to get back to them I created a resource spawner script that let us tweak the drops for each Zone as well as a loot table for the enemies we wanted to give the player a mission so we had the idea to take the title Sunseeker and make it literal Maxi made a sun god JT gave us the Sunstone and sunshard and now the player's ultimate goal and the unlock requirement for zone 5 was to craft a Sunstone to ascend and meet the sun god I made an ending cut scene did some voice acting wrote some hi cus and we shipped it over to couple close friends of ours to tusp during the testing phase I wrote a safe system to make their testing easy here with the fortunate consequence that you know have access to a safe system when you play the game things like your sun shards the level unlocks at which voice lines you've heard we had a ton of fun and we're really pleased with where we finished there are a lot of things we would have done differently or added given more time like a more robust saving system like with the inventory uh better game balance a higher Variety in enemy Ai and more weapon types but that's the nature of the Beast hope you enjoy bro I think I think the final product looks so good like the visuals I was surprised by that I think the most especially the starting area I think it looks just amazing this is this is cool my inventory is still there is this is that the Drone I made I'm so happy it got changed away from a um drone it was it was just not fitting there's a table specifically designed for the banana so that's a very good idea what is the banana table bro I will say um the combat turned out really satisfying I think that was one of the key highlights of the game oh my gosh there holy crap that's cool that's actually satisfying it's very interesting when you work it on something but you don't know what will be final result what the heck is that I like the music by the oh the dragon gives this guys birth so you had two more months to work on the on the video game and you going to sell on Steam what would you do from here well I would start by tweaking the difficulty because I think right now it's really hard I couldn't make it past the crystal Cavern so I didn't actually get to see the additional content please don't kill me please please no I don't want to die yet we had two play testers of the final version who ended up beating it but it took them a while I mean it was a bit of a grind to get to the end like the difficulty is definitely can be hard to balance it's actually so hard to survive please I don't want to die please I don't know who added the bees but I hate them I am terrified of bees the most basic things you can do in the game like attacking or piing up resources Etc like the things you do the most I love when they are satisfying so I personally would go in this direction so I would make like cutting down trees rather than just pressing a button multiple times I would make it part of the game so that you want to do that instead of it feeling like a chore I would say new enemy types new things to build and en to be golden every time we do one of these challenges um my designer and I go into a design Dock and we try to analyze the game that we have and we'll take it and we'll decide we'll say okay what is the core game Loop what is the idea behind it and how can we leave a good Mark on it we absolutely had planned to do bosses but I had so much trouble with learning the enemy system that um we just didn't have time to implement the bosses there was going to be a forest Golem we had a a crystal worm which would have been similar to like the dragon but but it would have been like a a segmented Crystal worm that would kind of like tunnel through the level and then it would come back and go back through and you'd have to hit it as it um tries to hit you uh another potential probability is actually try to engine oh buddy he's gone there was there was going to be something it like a a cliffhanger right now what another wild P The Game Challenge and I'm telling you guys the next episodes are going to get even crazier and actually the next video is going to be a completely different concept altogether a brand new series on the channel so make sure to subscribe crazy stuff is coming up also remember that this may be your only chance to get our brand new strategy card game juicy centipedes is known Kickstarter we might never release this ever again so if you want to have an exclusive blankon prod a physical product in your home with the blank on art style really proud of this little strategy game check out the kickstarter and back us there it's great support as well with that said see you all real soon cheers
