good morning from Seattle in the USA where I am feeling very sleepers I have to say I arrived you from Europe like five hours ago what else is there to do when you're Sleepless in Seattle strong coffee oh and spending six hours on a 737 this wasn't right behind me in fact it's a seven thirty seventy seven hundred and states will be taking me on the Alaskan milk run boiled the coast of Alaska to in Juneau today where I'll be staying tonight and then heading up on the rest of the mildwin to Anchorage tomorrow this video is brought to you by - Lee the Alaska milkman has its roots back as far as the 1930s when bush pilots hopped through the remote towns of Alaska carrying mail medicine on firm today the roofs still an essential lifeline to remote communities along the Alaskan coast and it's served daily by Boeing 737s my trip will take in the towns of Ketchikan Rangel Petersburg and Juneau where I'll be spending the night from Juneau I'll be flying through Yakutat in Cordova before finishing the routine Anchorage a direct flight from Seattle Times which takes just three and a half hours but over the course of two days I was spending 12 hours on board Alaska's 737 the size or said the n-gage no no the afternoons there any gates a next thank you hello the first leg today was relatively empty with most passengers opting for a more direct flight up to Alaska I was sitting right down the back of the 737 Alaska 737 is a pretty comfy and spacious even down the back there's USB and power and all in all vastly different to the drafty float planes that flew the routine years gone by well this isn't a bad place to spend the next six hours I suppose there's no matter like we knew us be relatively light loading like as well I see if I stays as why I imagine a pickle people further along the roof as dawn started to break we push back to get on our way to Southie smell the first leg today was a bit longer than the rest so there was time for a tea and coffee service I also bought a cheese and fruit B for breakfast which was okay but a bit pricey at around seven dollars so first like today then up to Ketchikan Alaska a small town on the coast of Alaska down in the south it's about an hour and 40 minutes flight but from Seattle so this is probably the longest sector I'm going to be doing today binata thoughts on this one absolutely months I've never been to Alaska tour and really excited to see what it's like down there and also on the way up to Anchorage when we eventually get into Anchorage tomorrow after a while we started our descent down into the murky skies of Southeast Alaska for the first of today's incredibly bumpy and hard landings the approach was beautiful though once we were below the clouds so then landed or shall I say planted in Ketchikan Alaska interesting fact about this Airport it's actually on an island and the only way to get to it from the city of Ketchikan eyes on a ferry which is like free and convenient if you he's been able to drive to it like me no leaving it to the last minute like I generally to here if you live here in Ketchikan Alaska loaded from cargo being offloaded right now not sure how many people are gonna come on and we've got about 15 minutes I think on the ground here in catch and then off to wrangle Alaska most of the passengers got off in Ketchikan leaving me at the back of an almost empty aircraft as he waited at the gate the southbound Millwood flight pulled up at the side of his while we waste on the ground a big thanks to this video sponsored Ashley Ashley makes it super easy to securely store all of your passwords cards and important documents and access them on the go it allows you to quickly generate a unique highly secure password for each website you visit sermon to autofill serve on your devices so you never have to remember a password again it's far more secure than reusing that same password with different numbers at the end over and over again it also makes it really easy to fill in your card details whenever you make an online purchase which is really handy for me as I can just click and fill in my card details without having to go rooting through my wallet aside from cards he stores things like it passports therefore I am in the world I can just open the app and pull down my passport details wait what I'm trying to check in online or apply for EVs is when they want to know every last tiny detail of your life before I was lucky enough to do this as a full-time job I worked in IT security for years as web managers like - león are regarded by experts to be the safest most secure way to generate and protect your online credentials even if dashlane were to get hacked it will be like breaking into a bank but not being able to open any of the vaults only you have the key to you bolt you master password which dashlane don't have and you have to enter it on your laptop or phone to get access to your passwords so try the exclusive offer of getting - name for free on your first device at - Wacom / Noll and then when you want to upgrade to premium which you will use my code Knowle to get 25% off soon it was time to push back and get on our way time to get on our way to Regulus the weather starts closing in this flight was much shorter than that last with a flight time of just 29 minutes as we cruised up the coast of Alaska at 20,000 feet we started our descent into the tiny city of Wrangell with another bumpy approach and hard landing [Music] the ground crew came out to check off the list of passengers for the next leg as the incoming cargo is offloaded so Wrangell Alaska another smashed out of a landing I tell you oh it's good fun flying here really bumpy if you like bumpy flies and things this is a place to come so bumpy we have a bit of a crosswind there on landing as well the last second smashed it down into that runway with some fun awesome fun I think we've got about another 40 minutes on the ground here and then off to Petersburg before finally to Juneau for my nice topper tonight once again we with the I stand single on our way again for the next leg the 14-minute hops at Petersburg we barely got above 6,000 feet on this leg and didn't break out the cloud before we started our approach into Pittsburgh so last stop for today Petersburg Alaska very different from st. Petersburg in Florida at the opposite end of the cook in terms of whether I've climate and everything really with hey it's very cold that looks of it one more flight survey then up to Juneau last leg for today and then tomorrow continuing on up to Anchorage the last leg of today's flight with a 26 minute hop Street up Stevens passage towards Juneau Steven's passage turned out to be incredibly bumpy and we didn't get to see much of it before we landed into Juneau thank you very much see you later we have the luxury of an average in Juneau and I hit it through the tiny airport to get a right to my hotel for the night so then here in Juneau Alaska whoa Juneau sorry turtle singing just reminded me of that song as we came in to land here I mean the weather is just glorious day here in Juneau Alaska clear skies as far as the eye can see it's just amazing it's like Manchester only know it's like Manchester from what I can see anyway so here at Juno International Airport waiting for a shuttle to take me downtown to my place where I'm staying for the night it's flippin freezing actually so I'm gonna get down to the hotel try and rest for a bit and then we're gonna have a look around you know the airport's about a 20-minute drive to downtown Juneau and it wasn't long before I arrived in my hotel well this place is all riot this is the Juno hotel is some kind of I think it's like right downtown we've got like a separate bedroom nice telly open corner they could do for tonight's I'm expecting to do lots of sleeping the weather out there is dreadful she was just telling me that yesterday or last week I think she said they had a hundred mile an hour winds here so at the moment this is nice this is like the glorious summer day compared to the usual weather here in do you know Alaska so just come out for a bite to eat and try and find somewhere to eat I mean just look behind me at this law I mean when the cloud starts to break it is absolutely stunning well I feel like I've missed out a little bit because on the way hidden it was like really cloudy and we didn't really get to see much I'm hoping that the weather clears a bit tomorrow we get to see a little bit more because this scenery I mean oh my goodness look at absolutely unbelievable wow this place looks promising it's a restaurant called the hangar on the wharf urban grill that sounds very a VHD and very plainly so let's go take a look thank you so this is actually an old aircraft hangar where the float plane operates is used to buy from I'm actually was this hangar here where all of the float plane appliances operated out of Juneau and they all merged to become Alaska Airlines this place really is the birthplace of Alaska Airlines so it's pretty cool and social emotions up here as well yeah can I get the Halliburton chairs please choice thank you Cheers do you know that Juneau where I am now is the state capital of Alaska but like every single of the town I've been to today and the ones I'm presumably go into tomorrow as well there is no road access from anywhere outside of the town itself the only way in now is by boat or by air and that's why these air services like the milkman might be great fun for his aviation geeks to do and come and see some of these random places both they really are a lifeline to the people who live here just today on the flight that I was on there was a elderly couple sat in the row behind me and they were heading up to Anchorage for some medical appointments they live on one of the little islands and without the milkman service that Alaska Airlines provides they wouldn't be able to get to those hospital appointments they won't be able to get so all that stuff that they need to do to run their lives without the milk run basic things that we take for granted even more in bigger cities around here you have to use this sort service and really is essential and have to say the halibuts here that's the panel on the wall is absolutely amazing fresh halibut you cannot even get much fresher than tomorrow really handy really knighting very delicious highly highly recommend coming up checking this place out if you get a chance to visit do you know these places really nice walk back to my hotel to get on with some work in Juneau Alaska at 58 degrees latitude and I just realize on days like this how lucky I am despite the weather been absolutely Ming in the scenery is far from it this is my job and thanks to you guys watching my videos I'm able to come and do this and literally instead of home to go to an office this is what I do it's kind of crazy really Juneau is a beautiful city and I think in the summer when the weather is a bit nicer it's somewhere that I've been really good to bring rating the kids I'm sure they'd like it Alaska when I get home there is a certain charm about Juno on a gloomy day it reminds me a lot of Scotland which somehow remains magical even under cloudy skies well good morning from an incredibly beautiful juneau alaska and we've had snow overnight I mean waking up to this view this morning just absolutely incredible and today I'm heading deeper into Alaska taking the next leg of the milk run from here in Juneau up to Anchorage and we're stopping at a place called Yakutat yeah had a yak and Cordova which is two little airports kind of like the ones we went to yesterday really on the way up to Anchorage again on this 737 the weather looks still pretty cloudy but it's a little bit clearer than it was yesterday at least we can see more than about half a mile so who knows hopefully we get a few better views today than we need yesterday thanks very much then thank you I was sad to be leaving Juneau so soon it really was a lovely city but alas I had to get on with taking the rest of the mill gone up to Anchorage the airport was pretty quiet and I did inside and upstairs to security so then here side at June even there's not really a lot here as expected house wasn't not as was unexpected though the guy on the TSA checkpoint is actually a Geordie from Newcastle back home in the UK so so strange here in a familiar voice this far away from home and really nice guy as well to get all chat and now air solid so just waiting now then for the flight up to Anchorage and it leaves a knife let's see what hours from now departure lounges pretty basic and just has a cafe at one end Alaska Airlines have these cool book stands giving away free books for kids while they're traveling which I thought was pretty neat fairly seen my flight around which touchdown outside [Music] due to weather there please check here with the customer service agent for rebooking so they just announced that he's stopped in yakety yak yak it's at is off how am I gonna go straight to Cordova which i think is their next stop and then on to Anchorage from there it's only two hops on this leg now they never mind one another no does anybody else think that it is pretty strange that Alaska Airlines have stickers on their plane saying proudly or Boeing one actually only half their fleet is Boeing surely you should say proudly Hoff Boeing or something you know the more you look it's it doesn't the guy on the tail of the Alaska Airlines planes doesn't do look like him Bob Marley instead of jamming it should be summon salmon the Bob Marley jet was soon ready for boarding and soon it was time to get up stand up stand up for my flight to Anchorage thank you oh yeah welcome back sure your bag stock oh you know underneath the seat front of you we're a little full today okay I'm kidding all right who on board once again the Bob Marley jet help me alight salmon - now I don't know about you but anything that says lift to open makes me just want to open the office see what's underneath but man over there winds out of the east-northeast about 10 to 15 miles now we soon pushed back and a quick the ice later at us on our way for the slightly more direct than planned flight up to Cordova [Music] this helicopter caught my attention it looks like a squashed a109 pretty cool as we find out for the one hour and eight minute ride opt or over we've started getting some better views of the ground as we flew along the Alaskan coast the flight was pretty empty today and shortly after takeoff the tea and coffee service came around we soon commenced our descent into cordova just as the weather started to clear and Alaska came out to play our approaching to Cordova had quite a lot of crap with the crosswind as we came in to land I love that the captain came out and did his welcome on board and now it's been personally in front of the whole chapter 36 minutes one time at 28,000 it might be a little bit bumpy during the climb I'll take off to the east to make it climbing right turn head over to Prince William Sound and why over that you guys range down the turning on maybe a little bit thumpin going to anchor it is quite cold over there 12 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale clear skies and light winds Oh the next leg of the flight was perhaps the most scenic of the lot so that out of Cordova now and climbing towards Anchorage then the weather has come out to play is absolutely beautiful out there after the cloudy weather of yesterday and even today to a certain degree until we left dunno the weather out there is stunning and the pilots just come on to say that they've got a routine from air traffic control that will allow us to get some really good views on the right-hand side of the plane which is having to that be exactly round second zone but you forward to same sort of what I saw from our window and as it turned out Alaska had a lot to offer the senior was simply stunning even the flight crew were amazed at the views out of the window and were glued to the window taking photos they told me that a clear day like this is almost unheard of in winter in Alaska where you get such good views of the snowy landscape below it certainly made up for the rim whether the baby fall on the ride over to Juneau all too soon we got our first view of Anchorage Airport and the city of Anchorage at over 61 degrees north it's the largest city in Alaska and it's as far from New York as it is from Tokyo [Music] [Music] my write-up from Seattle Times which cost me the grand total of 300 pounds or about 392 US dollars this is four flights at 1488 miles giving a cost per mile of 20 P I really enjoyed my ride of the coast of Alaska despite the weather being a bit iffy in the first part it was wonderful to see these isolated into towns and spend the night in Juneau thank you I will probably see you in a few minutes appear on the Explorer the cabin crew were incredible and couldn't do enough to help even till my thumbnail photo so here then at Anchorage Alaska and what a beautiful fly that was oh well eventually all the way from Seattle through all the little cities incredible experience and apparently see that sort of you in the winter here in Alaska is pretty unique really because it's not Me quite cloudy when it's snowy so i really hope you've enjoyed this video let me know what you think to it down in the comments below but in the meantime as always thanks so much for watching take care and I'll see you next time
