WORLD'S LONGEST A340-300 FLIGHT! Edelweiss Business Class

now I'm actually supposed to be here tonight I should be the other side of the Andes Mountains in Chile but long story short cancelled flights delayed connections got a night here in Buenos Aires and I'm making the most of it the weather's been absolutely scorching today 41 degrees in the middle of November today I'm flying back to Europe with a Swiss airline called Edelweiss air I'm going to Zurich onboard one of their Airbus a340 s now Edelweiss are primarily a leisure and holiday Airlines they're offering a business class products on this flight all the way over from Missouri now when I think of holiday and leisure Airlines offering premium products I generally think of airlines like tui the former Ally and Thomas Cook even Norwegian and they all offer like a premium economy service but they don't actually sell it as a for business class product so I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing what business class on a device is gonna be like I'm gonna head across to a zz Airport the video the Hilton in Buenos Aires is a really nice hotel if a little bit busy as easier airports about a 40-minute drive from downtown Buenos Aires and today it cost me just 11 pounds in a famous drive sharing app as always the airport was absolute chaos today and I negotiated lines of traffic to get into terminal a [Music] it's absolute chaos here Aziza the traffic had to walk the last bit because it's just traffic to your body were taking 20 minutes ago to the terminal so [Music] once I've safely made it into the terminal I'm headed to check-in my flight to Zurich today was a co-chair with Swiss who oh never bites check-in I have my boarding passes for these next couple of flights let's head to the game once I've checked in it was time to negotiate the massive queue for passport control the other left early there's no fast-track for anyone it's set crew so you just have to suck it up and wait and wait some more right sir has just taken me an hour to get through that lot this is crazy honestly I'm so exactly the same last time I was here as well sort it out Argentina that's just terrible the same coming in and going out so if you're coming through born as I remember you need to leave plenty of time to get through all this sort of thing and I've just seen a natal vise a340 it's gonna have a look before heads of the lounge [Music] it's actually a really nice livery I've seen it a lot of time in Switzerland when I've been in Zurich and stuff doing the holiday flights but Sam it's actually I really no I just live around Matt buy into a little bit like Norwegian actually hopefully the products me about the Norwegians better we'll see all right let's go find the delay almost Christmas we eat and drink there is a steakhouse here in Buenos Aires didn't find it last time I ended up going on them so I Donald and there is a lounge if number 13 unlucky for son hopefully okay the store alliance lounge is located upstairs offers a gate 9 it's a reasonable lounge albeit a little bit on the dark side [Music] so that space the Star Alliance lounge here is some massive wife you see in areas not much in the way of food unfortunately but it's quite uncomfortable almost have a nice healthy salad so I'm just gonna show now alright so I'm gonna head to the gates little bit early the last few days I've been getting flights and thinking I've been on time I've got there and found out they're already at like halfway through boardings I'm gonna get there and that's an early other thing just in time they're literally just pulling the quiet hello thank you but my right today was this Airbus a340 that was originally delivered to Swiss in 2003 in 2017 she went on to paradise and she's been there ever since [Music] the seating configuration on a device is a little bit strange on the left-hand side it's staggered between throne seats and double seats on the right-hand side it's staggered between window and aisle seats just like taps a330 neo there's also a Premium Economy cabin which is in front of the business class cabin right up to the nose I've never actually seen a configuration quite like it before today there I was in a throne seat in row 11 okay this is not unless your airline business class incredible so I have a couple around the seat in a bit I was allowed to show you and the first thing is it's pretty comfortable I still work on sorry this side it's in a kind of a studied configuration it like one seat and then to see them one see than two sees the one seats are in the odd numbered rows like a big throw and it's quite nice I can walk to it to see wasn't meaning to hit somewhere I think and a blanket instead of say I'll show you more around the rest of the sea later Knutson champagne was served on the gate the menu was hunted out with options for a five-course meal fairly soon the jet bridge disconnected and we push back for what is currently the longest Airbus a340 300 flights in the world the sets of flight mode or completely switched off for takeoff and landing larger items such as laptops must be stowed away safely during taxi takeoff and landing smaller items such as tablets and mobile please fasten your seatbelt now as we are taking off the use of the laboratories is not permitted for takeoff and landing includes all kind of smoking devices as well as alternative and smoking stimulating products take off is incredibly long today as the a340 East slowly away from the ground for our 13-hour flight [Music] I wrote on tonight's flight then to his North out of Argentina to cross Uruguay in Brazil we crossed the north coast of Brazil into the city of Fortaleza we then cross the Atlantic passing Cape Verde the Canaries and Madeira before coasting into Europe over northern Portugal we cross Spain and southern France before commencing our descent into Zurich over the city of Geneva flight time tonight was 13 hours in four minutes at a cruising altitude of 33 35 and 38 thousand feet dinner service started very soon enough to be part of in Buenos Aires started tonight was an amuse-bouche followed by a salad and a main course of beef tenderloin which was incredible [Music] then there was a selection of cheeses before a dessert of cake fruit or yogurt [Music] [Music] so dinner finish and I have to say that was really nice very good very impressed with the food here on a device should I take a look around the see lemon see what is all about so we just look up here we've minutes headphone so hit power three-pin plug in USB amenity kit which I'll go through in a little while in a nice Swiss Tim myself ahead reading light and the pressing this going here that eventually see controls we have easy button to take off landing lounge position and the flatbed approach the seat goes into lumber support cushioned it's got those see airport things that on the seat up to make you feel like a floating water is not a fan of the term you've got that as well massage function which essentially just uses the air to pull up different bits of the seats and make you feel more comfortable mood lighting let's try that where that is come on I'll see whether it's come on nevermind the leg registers well always all done through here on this little panel here then if we look down here we have the life vest at the bottom in the middle pull out a bit the storage compartment there Kohana branded for how many coats of obviously I've just come I never had locked it a little hockey here with literature and safety guard and the likes headphones Sennheiser headphones which actually they look quite nice actually try those out a little bit with the in-flight entertainment water bottle holder nice big screen in fly entertainment system I'll go through in a little while plenty of like room down there we will see what it's like when the bed goes out later all the know very impressed so far finding quite interesting actually that Edelweiss are a holiday of the line and they're owned by Swiss who in turn around by Lufthansa it's all part of the Lufthansa Group and I finally incredible that the business class product on the holiday alignment Edelweiss is better at the business class product on their flagship carrier supposedly a five-star airline Lufthansa I've flown business class on a lot of times as a three forties and on the 707 and they ain't nowhere near as good as this all of this just begs the question what is love tons are playing out when a holiday airline in their group has a far superior business class of the flagship product supposedly a five-star airline humility kits are presented in a very unique tin inside there's a pair of socks I mask ear plugs and a dental kids I indulge in a couple of glasses of Bailey's as the sunset over the Amazon bill lowers to set me off at a nice sleep [Music] so now five hours into the flight just across the northern coast of Brazil to cross the Atlantic Ocean the Sun just setting outside we've got about eight hours left to everyone tonight's flight so far so good really enjoying it cabin feel brilliant we've had some nice food like a proper five course meal and everything it's pretty nice and sea is amazing I'm gonna go try it out now because I think I need to get some sleep now because with the money two hours left to go until we land in Zurich okay so time for bed um it's actually really comfortable it's a full flower bed after loads of leg room my feet aren't even touching the bottom which is good on my extra blankets have our little mattress topper there so yes that we have seven hours fifty-five minutes to go I see how much sleep begins now 20 plus 9 you can time the night so let's see what time see how much asleep again good night I woke up somewhere over Portugal so Justin were not might a food service coming around it's some which if 4 a.m. so I've had about six and a half seven hours sleep British has just been served so even before typing that we have about an hour and a half left until in London Zurich [Music] breakfast today was a great choice of plates I picked out a continental style selection and some scrambled eggs it wasn't brilliant but it was certainly not bad at all the in-flight entertainment has got a great choice of TV and movies the Sennheiser headphones are a nice touch and give great quality audio a small cake was brought round before landing we were soon descending over the Alps into Zurich where we made an arrival slightly ahead of schedule at 6 13 in the morning my flight back from Buenos Aires works out at 505 pounds or perhaps 649 US dollars as a return portion of my outward flight from Frankfurt with Lufthansa this was for a flight of seven thousand and twenty miles giving a cost per mile of just seven pence compared to my outbound Lufthansa flight in business class Edelweiss were at the far superior airline the steepest incredible service was efficient and pleasant and the food was amazing the action Subic is also a pleasure to connect through compared to the mess that's Frankfurt Airport and within ten minutes of disembarking hours at the gate from a connecting flight back to Birmingham [Music] so then here at Zurich Airport very efficient transfer from the egauge to the non-schengen gates my flight back to Birmingham quite enjoyed I've ride over without advice it was a lovely flight let me know what you its height look that one that's quite nice pop-up day or what does that do so take off from Buenos Aires that's quite easy to do all that's missing now is a little bit of music so let's go to some
