WHY DOES THIS TINY AIRPORT HAVE 2 FLIGHTS A DAY?

I'm in Stockholm in Sweden and today I'm heading to a place called speck I've never heard of speck before until a couple of days ago and I've got no idea what's there is a little town quite some way from here and to be honest I don't think that fakie is really on the list of tourist destinations or people coming to Sweden but they're operating the flight there twice a day to this little town called swag and I've got no idea why so we're gonna head over and find out just what the attraction is about spec and why there's two flights a day from Stockholm thanks ed - late the sponsor in this at the check-in desk by another passenger heading to spec who seemed equally confused at least I'm not the only one I was getting worried that I was the only event someone turned up and told us that we were in the wrong place and we need to go and meet the stuff in the shopping area if they had alright are you guys ready to go yeah in quite possibly the strangest boarding arrangement that I've ever had we were taken outside as I began to wonder if my right aspect had been substituted revokes wagon minimus as if this wasn't all strange enough we then appeared to leave the airport entirely joining a motorway at one point eventually there we pulled into the private term in little underwear it seemed we be getting the red-carpet treatment today as he pulled onto the ramp I got my first view of my writers spec it's a King Air 200 that rolled off a production line in 1983 its phone for operators in the US Germany South Africa in Norway in its time before John air-water in 2019 John Arthur here in a commuter configuration with 12 seas and vehicles got a large cargo pod attached to the belly to that they use for Korean skis oh yeah welcome on board did they feel to pull it online yes actually I'm a viewer on the shuttle oh yeah so basically we have two x's one where you came in yes and one in the right forward porch of the cabin introductions completes it was time to fire up the engines and cut on our way to act differently here it's all under the real star attire laughter today was his 50-year old dc-8 built in 1969 and operated originally by United Airlines but later converted to a private jet and owned by a Saudi Sheik it subtly been stored it all under three years [Music] we loved up on the runway after FL start due to a burn on the runway [Music] we had a second go and took off towards the bright lights of swag Venus I reached up suspect the Seaview then took us on a direct path heading Northwest from Stockholm flight time today was 52 minutes at a cruising altitude of 20,000 feet [Music] so climbing out of Stockholm on the king air this is such a cool plane to fly on legroom is pretty decent as expected for what is essentially a private jet type class aircraft certainly an interesting way to get on the playing down in and stop in Orlando but this is pretty cool climbing up to 20,000 feet or so now for the one hour and a half flight of two that's pretty good I'm enjoying this plane it's nice before long we commence our descent down into spec and join on a left base like the runway two-seven [Music] oh yes nice - follow me - hang on okay okay and no bathroom is a shared bathroom to be honest this was the only place this is the only place you can stay in this big so I think I'm the only one here nice view out over the bright lights of vague yeah I'm off to find a bear when they nice by the way I'm Ingrid announcer and very nice of them to give me a lift to my hotel soon as especially there's no taxi service or anything around here so it's quite in span funny that way literally there is nothing here even people who live here are like why don't you want to visit spec and let's be quiet aha I found it the world's largest wooden bear of which speck is famous for it's more like a picture to me and there's a bike a meeting going on outside they have it the world's largest wooden bear it's still a little bit baffling as to why sixty two flights a day from Stockholm who's coming here there's not really much here so I live to prove what a tiny towns Vega is I've just done bumped into the first a visit from measure I've got here because knowing what taxis alike and it's five the world I wanted to give myself enough time to walk so I mean go and have a wander in a minute and it explores vague International Airport lots of logs on these wagons I think logging is a I so understandably a massive thing here in this part of Sweden because it's just around my forests they were in [Music] so inside the huge departure lounge here at swag International either port you have a check-in desk and a security point and that's it but there is free tea and coffee and I need coffee no first name no just I think it's the Orion flight today private jet yeah do you need my passport yes to the plane yes of course yeah no problem yeah okay thank you I saw the pilot in town last night and he said oh you're the only passenger I was on the flight yesterday as well so I guess you don't get many passengers coming to spag I guess I am i I've come to find out why there are sometimes two flights a day to spec yes it's like it's a lovely town but very quiet and crazy that there's no no and I guess now more so so it's in a moment yes yes I'll sit through here them yeah thank you the departure lounge effect is pretty basic but it's nice and comfortable I couldn't help but feel that we were feeling a little bit optimistic with a number of seats though there's great views over the apron at least of what activity there is here and I watched as my ride back to Stockholm was towed out of the hangar it was soon time to board my private jets well turboprop let's get that one right this time back to Stockholm thank you enjoy your run yes yes yeah nice to sit down for a little bit now nice okay very quick yes yes the seat for you in the front thank you very much just gonna review some of the from Stockholm to spec cost me just a hundred two pounds returned or around a hundred and twenty six US dollars this works out to a price of twenty five pounds per mile the chance to ride on an aircraft usually uses a corporate plane this represents a fantastic value for money I'm hoping to travel back to the north of Sweden soon to take a ride on their other King hair across the Arctic to the town of paella as you pulled on to stand captain Anton gave me a little more information about the route to spec okay so it's like an essential air service I guess and is it usually people who were visiting vague or is it you people visits from fake coming to Stockholm or it's it's actually kind of both yes a lot of people that travel from 3 and 4 for meetings to start let's talk on this one but yes you have you know all of the ski tourists yes in the winter guests interesting yes yes we were saying last night weren't we at this time this is or see that's beautiful yes yes so that's what on the Union route yes very nice but it keeps you flying multiplying you guys is my first time on a King Air and it's nice too well thank you so much I'll shake your hand thank you so much yes whether I found out any more about when people heard to speak no I still don't really understand that and speaking to the crew they said actually the flight is always packed full and so much so that they're looking at upgrading it to a beach 1900 C which is quite staggering really it's actually an essential air service it is paid for by the Swedish government hence the reason why there are two flights a day but the fact where the flight is always for nobody seems to really understand so a little bit normal but why is it on that but never mind I really hope you've enjoyed this video let me
