#513 I Miss my SideKit The Life of an Owner Operator Flatbed Truck Driver

oh yeah we loaded out of uh elizabethtown and took those big rubber pipes or pvc pipes up to michigan that was kind of a uh that stuff went to a landfill and i wasn't too happy about that that's probably why you didn't see much about that so [Music] [Music] so [Music] all right good morning we're in brazil indiana here's the sign right there uh this used to be a pilot i think or was there's another pilot across the street if you see it let's see if we zoom in on it there's another pilot across the street and hang on i'm going to spin you around there is a petrol over there so it's kind of truck stop corner here um this is where we ended up last night with the uh loaded steel plate it's that diamond plate they use yesterday we got 47 000 pounds on the dorsi aluminum trailer [Applause] so uh we're getting ready to go deliver this truck's doing good already checked everything oil all that other stuff looking good um this load here had to use my chains this uh this customer shipper requires you use chains which is fine especially on a steel plate throw a chain over the front and the back just in case it shoots forward so uh we got that done so anyway got a busy day today we got two hours to go deliver this in louisville illinois and then we're going to granite city pick up skidded coils and take them to louisville kentucky and then that's where we're going to spend the weekend so let's get our day started [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] all right we've got unloaded now we're going to head over to granite city which is about 100 miles from here but i think we're going to make a pit stop at walmart so i can get what i need for the weekend hey hey we're going to take this is highway 45 i believe right here we're going to run highway 45 down to highway 50 and take highway 50 through illinois which i think is called the lincoln highway if i remember right it's going to take a while wait for traffic so hang on okay here we go so we're gonna take highway 50 and if i decide to uh if i decide to stop at walmart we'll cut up to vandalia and then get back once 70 read 70 back across a little overcast today well it's a pretty drive down through here so i'll talk to you a bit when your soul is lonely set in blue you got love and shoulders to lean on there's always a sunny side across the river take a ride take a swim and all your worries go away go cross the river and you'll be fine go calling winners [Music] so when you feel lost in [Music] there's always the sunny side across the river take a ride to just swing my friend and paddle your guitar across the river you'll be fine go counting winners [Music] [Applause] [Music] so all right we made it over here to the walmart in vandalia illinois illinois man there's hardly any choice here usually come here packed oh just wanted a few walmarts you guys heard me talk about this place before one of the few walmarts that has real truck parking and i don't mean just like park anywhere in their parking lot they have designated truck parking over here this is one reason why i like coming to this one here and i try to be as respectful as i can but look to the right they have real truck parking spots right there and just not parked wherever in the parking lot which is super nice all right swinging in here so the reason i'm stopping and picking up a couple things is my little truck is messed up and i actually have an appointment on tuesday to uh take it down to the ford dealer there in louisville and have them take a look at it i have tinkered with it and i can't figure out what's wrong with it so i'm gonna take it to the professionals let them do it instead of me just throwing money at it to see if i can fix it or not well we're just going to get a couple things it's still good to run like a like a two mile radius but uh it gets on the interstate highway speeds and something's wrong with it so anyway that's why we're gonna make a quick stop here pick up a couple things everything looks good so uh from right here we got about an hour over to go pick up our reload and it's uh it's only it's not even 12 o'clock yet so we got plenty of time all right talk to you in a bit all right it's the end of the day it's the end of the week it's friday uh we had a good week we loaded our unloaded and loaded every door this week so we did skidded we unloaded skidded coils monday morning reloaded that metal pole stuff i think they were called bracing bars uh reloaded skidded coils took them back to louisville and then uh i picked up something and took it up to uh oh yeah we loaded out of uh elizabethtown and took those big rubber pipes or pvc pipes up to michigan that was kind of a uh that stuff went to a landfill and i wasn't too happy about that that's probably why you didn't see much about that so i won't be doing those anytime soon um and then we came down toledo picked up steel plate delivered that this morning over in louisville illinois and they went picked up more skinny coils out of granite city this afternoon and uh we're gonna deliver those on tuesday so we got three day weekend didn't have enough time to make it all the way back to uh mercer but uh we got about 120 130 miles across 64 for tomorrow it's pretty easy it's not too bad um if you want to do something that's kind of entertaining get on google maps go to the satellite view and then go to traffic google maps will show you the traffic uh let me bring it up real quick so here's an example of chicago see all the red and orange that tells you traffic's all messed up um right around oh here's here's a good example that's atlanta see all the traffic around atlanta um man right around quitting time st louis was all red and black indianapolis was all red and uh orange i mean red and orange uh louisville's green right now but uh man traffic people on vacation but anyway all right tomorrow we'll be in louisville and we'll figure out something to do so thanks for watching and talk to you later p.s after this week i uh i kind of missed my sidekick uh all uh only one of those loads wouldn't fit in the side kit and those were those bracing bars everything else would have worked great in the side kit so i don't know i might put my side kit back on i i had fun i enjoyed running with my sidekick so i might put it back on i don't know
