The Kenworth Is Broken In Kansas #389

[Music] well we are at the intersection of 186 and interstate 70 here in kansas right now behind me it's actually really slow but this little tiny mom paul gas station is incredibly busy i mean that thing was packed the entire night all day today it's been packed and inside that store there's maybe enough room for maybe 10 people that place the place is making a killing and then as for the intersection over here has anybody ever rolled right there because last night i just kept watching trucks just barrel into that get on the on a ramp slowed down but holy smokes they get that thing hard i do apologize guys it's highway 156 not highway 186. our goal today is we are going to dodge city kansas to pick up a load of me our route today is going to be highway 156 here and then it's going to go to highway 56 and then to highway 50 into dodge city kansas so far it is a beautiful day the wind is not blowing at all i do predict that the wind probably will start blowing because as you guys already know in kansas the wind does blow a lot you mean i've told you guys multiple times that you guys have to be hardy people because of that wind well now that we've covered where we're going what we're picking up and where we're going with that you guys actually think do you guys have any working pay phones in your area that's about the closest i've come to a pay phone i don't think i've even been close enough to a pay phone other than in keystone south dakota to even show my kids what a payphone used to be hi hi how are you i'm good how are you doing alrighty well after an extremely nice greeting i thank you for letting me park in your truck stop it is now time to get on the road and continue on i have no clue if our trailer is going to be ready yet but we do have plans in some ways it's not the plans are there is a kenworth dealer right there in dodge city kansas when we get to town we're going to drop this trailer off and even if my trailer is ready and we're going to pick up a loaded trailer we are going to still run over to that kenworth if they're uh yeah they'll be open run over to that kenworth and grab what we need to fix our exhaust leak that we had a couple videos ago because all it is guys is is is an exhaust clamp has a crack in it that exhaust clamp that has a crack in it is sounding like it's a huge hole but it's just a little crack and it's just letting out annoying sounds so we're gonna see if they have a clamp there which they will or grab that and most likely we'll probably just fix it right there in the parking lot versus going home putting up with that uh noise it's an annoying noise it's not like a like a rumble noise it it's it's about like if you cut the exhaust off your car off a 350 you know 350 chevy or 464 you know you cut the exhaust off of them they sound cool for a little bit but then they're like then you're like this isn't cool we need to put some exhaust on it that's what it sounds like anyway let's get on the kansas um we're gonna let opie do his thing real fast i needed to catch up on some comments before a new video came out and i needed to finish up a few things on there too that is awesome i love it when these towns or these counties put memorials up like this just to remember everybody who not only sacrificed but just did what they did for us we wouldn't be what we are without them those are the heroes you know whenever i think of uh air conditioning not working like when i used to run the old freightliner the air conditioner never worked think of how warm it got in there but i'm a different generation i'm a baby i well i know i've had several military men tell me that the generation that's in the military now could never handle what it was back in the day so even even the strongest people the the men and women who sacrifice everything for us this generation is different than the past generation it's about like trucking right every generation is different you know i have roused about he's a completely different generation of trucking there's a generation before him 50 years before him he's been trucking for 50 years and i am just a flat out different generation than him and the generation coming in is different all generations are different it just seems to be the way it is as modern technology blossoms and as everything gets a little bit easier in the world than what it used to be everybody seems to say the generations are getting weaker the generations are getting more i don't know sissified whatever you want to say but realistically if you think if you come down and think about it things are just getting easier a lot easier that truck that truck is 21 years old gosh she's looking rough me and her have an agreement i promised her i would make her the beautiful truck that she deserves to be just not right now right now i have different things on my agenda list so yeah sidetracked on there you know this truck's 20 years old 20 21 years old so in the wise of generational stuff you know to me this is heaven to me this is first class to me there's no better than what i'm in right now but if somebody was driving a 2022 brand new truck you know a good one not one not a lemon you know he'd probably say i'd never drive that drive that old rattle box because yeah she's got a lot of rattles um the air conditioner doesn't work as good as some the heater doesn't work as good as some it probably doesn't ride near as good as the brand new ones i have a duct taped sunroof that's just because i hate sunroofs and trucks i need to vinyl it the original plant i was going to put chrome chrome vinyl and then i was going to curl them all but there you go i was going to chrome all this out and then put the chrome button covers but like i said outside that will all come this truck isn't going anywhere it's not it's not going anywhere so we're just gonna keep her running now and when i get to the point where i can upgrade her in the wise of restoring her or giving her pretties here and there polishing and stuff like that or do it all right i am caught up on comments we should be in dodge here in the next hour and uh we'll see if our trailer is ready kind of hoping it is because i'd like to do a churning burn grab a trailer and get out of town and start heading for the home front i'm surprisingly enough no one's called me i haven't heard from the house probably in three four days now three days now i thought for sure you know bud would be calling me asking why i was gonna be home and stuff like that but he does have a buddy at the house so he is keeping preoccupied and i usually don't hear from morgan for i think there's times i've gone out and haven't heard from her in a week and tater tots about the same way so once i get out here it's me it's my german mom or call me once or twice a day or asked about when he's out in the truck it's usually once twice a day uh california you know just little stuff like that so it works out let's go truck remember what i was talking about when i said this truck she has rattles going down the road most of the time i do not have rattles dodge city kansas she'll bring the rattles out of her very rarely are you guys here during the daylight usually we're pulling in here at night boogie not out of here at night [Music] percy kind of rough and kind of lined up holy smokes this is why i kind of like to come here in the middle of the night usually it didn't work out this time i i probably should have just kept going last night rolled in here three four o'clock and if i've heard would have been around four o'clock in the morning and then uh gotten out of here um trailer definitely wouldn't have been ready at four o'clock in the morning so i probably would have ended up parking off to the side over here because the truck stops in town probably would have been full over here at the loves truck stop they do have a uh um what do they call it a bobtail parking a semi truck without a trailer is a bob tail they do have bobtail parking but on the other hand you uh the bobtail parking is for very short trucks i pulled in there once thinking i could make it work and i had to back completely out of it and try try not to hit anything it it's not designed for a longer truck 49 [Music] [Music] so so so so jackpot they have our trailer you're gonna notice on this trailer the lettering is a little different the gentleman who owns my normal trailers that i pull well he has uh he has a brother that is in the same exact business as him so they both share the same building and every once in a while when we come out of dodge city here we will grab his brother's trailers to bring back so right now we're going to go back over to that guard check that we just came out of get checked out in the wise of they're gonna want my load number again um they're gonna want to see my license again or sign a few papers they'll check the temperature of the trailer [Music] let's think what else oh we have to open the trailer again it's a whole drawn out process that is a complete waste of time but these major packing plants like this it's all they know it really is all they know you know the people who run these places they're they're interesting we were actually having a good day um my trailers loaded everything's great in here this brings out the anger in me actually what it is yesterday my family went to the zoo today they're going to the demolition derby at the monona county fair there back home i told you earlier i haven't heard anything from anybody all week luckily there's facebook to tell me all of this you never like hearing what's going on back home through facebook instead of hearing it from your actually family [Music] members okay we are loaded up with 33 270 217 pounds of see if it has an exact ingredient of what it is it just says beef trim so that's our load that's what we're taking up to dakota city we have 485 miles to where in dakota city you know a lot of you have uh [Music] complimented me very nicely i do appreciate it on the good dad and being able to manage my uh trucking career mixed with my home time it's kind of funny though because when i am home it's because i wanna i wanna do things with the family because even if i'm not home they still do [Music] well i don't know if you heard that or not but procrastination did not uh did not work i tell you what i told you earlier i was going to stop by kenworth there and dodge my trailer was ready and i kind of figured you know what we're just gonna run it back to sioux city spend the night in sioux city then tomorrow morning grab everything we need to replace the exhaust and fix the exhaust well let's go see how that went [Music] see a little crack right there you guys can't see it right there that's what i thought was broke how did i miss seeing that i know dodge city finished this off i knew that was a guarantee except she was louder when we were leaving town uh let's think here what can we do we can loosen those bolts up slide that up over that that right there so we just gotta grab our tools and get to work [Music] well after much torquing and a little bit of cussing with my itty bitty little ratchet those aren't budget on to plan b [Music] oh what do we got a bunch of cords a couple ratchet straps where is my baling wire i took it out five inch wouldn't do me any good i would but i can't get those bolts loose i could if i had my big socket set do i have that troy took it out to work on the golf cart that's where it's at it's in the golf cart well one way or another it's going home i'm not going to pay somebody to fix this out here on the road we're not sleeping in it tonight thank you guys what can i do here i don't want to take that whole thing off because i have nowhere to put it but i could take that whole thing off i got an idea if you see me going down the interstate i'm sorry there's one i'd be happier if i could put two and i think i can put two how amazing would that be to have two bright orange straps strapped to the side of a w-900 it's all right she's filthy anyway i love trucking yes i do you know procrastination's a beep no no reefer don't though it was so quiet now it's not we have one two two scales between here and where we're making this delivery so if both of those scales could politely close your doors i'd be okay but if you are open we are going to take it alternate route something tells me that would not pass a dot inspection no i do not think that would pass a dot inspection it is solid from the turbo to that elbow right there that elbow is all brand new it would we put that on last year didn't we yeah we put that on last year i know i can hear you now man you're letting that truck go to crap schmidt that was a nice truck when you started youtube you just let it go to crap i know let you know a secret i'm not really enjoying trucking much here lately just a phase better pass on the upside guys look at that view that's a beautiful view beautiful sunset just beautiful [Music] be a lot better if that was the dooley and that was a mountain and this was all dirt be a lot better but it is what it is beautiful sunset [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] well look at that we've actually made it home we got our trailer dropped off i thought our next week trailer was going to be sitting in the yard waiting for us but i think there was a miscommunication there it wasn't there so instead we're just gonna have to go back up to the city and pick it back up before we leave next week as for right now we're gonna go home go to bed for a few hours then get started working on first class getting that exhaust fixed up and getting uh well get in there ready for the road again so i see and i got a burnt out cab light again it's that same middle one we had problems with a while ago i got to tell you it is 55 degrees right now that is a far cry from where we've been running for a
