5 Things Destroying Las Vegas!

what's going on guys Jacob Werth back here with another video of Jacob's life in Vegas coming you guys today with the topic that I want to talk about I want to put this together because I see this in comments on the channel regu I see this as something that people are upset with with Vegas people have voiced different things about Vegas and have what they love about Vegas possible things that are bugging them about Las Vegas so it is a very bright day here in Vegas right now we're gonna put the shades on and I'm gonna tell you guys hey please subscribe down below if you haven't subscribed to bunch of good stuff coming in the future for those of you that love Vegas so I want to talk today about five things that I think really are hurting Vegas and some people even say it's just ruining Vegas for them a lot of this is where people who've been coming here for years some of you've been coming here for decades to Las Vegas and that's part of the concern I have is some of these things that have been taking place recently in Las Vegas wind up upsetting a lot of people that have come here regularly and spent money for decades people who have come here multiple times a year but also these are some things that can upset people that are just coming as a first-timer so these are some of the trends some of the things have been going on in Vegas a lot of you have voices on the channel now that some of these are things I found from other places or things I just noticed you know here around town here on the strip and things like that that people talk about so let's get into it guys number one first thing that pisses people off and that make them upset about coming to Las Vegas are the fees right fees and taxes now this comes in a you know several different forms right obviously resort fees is one of the big complaints people have resort fees parking fees and those are instituted a few years ago recently this year in 2019 when resorts decided to get rid of their parking fees and maybe other properties will follow MS and their footsteps who knows but those are some ones that piss people off a lot the CNF fee which I've talked about before at another video also some of the taxes you pay like this ticket tax remember seeing on Twitter earlier this year free show to Janet Jackson there were taxes they paid on these tickets were insane compared to the actual price of the tickets other things to just taxes and fees and other areas something like you know there's another one I saw on Twitter where people were talking about how upset they were about some of the you know things in Vegas when they came on their visit and one of them was the guy who said four five guys begin to Encore Beach Club costing about $550 they paid over $100 just in fees and taxes for Encore Beach Club and that was with a $100 discount they had because they were staying there at the property another small fee or actually shouldn't say it's a small fees might be sneaky one you could say that comes in I was in a article recently has solvus here in the paper earlier this year is fees for mini bars here in Las Vegas use a mini bar in some of these properties and certain places only have so many companies there only so many hotels have them I think it's Caesars I believe it's two of their properties I have mini bars but no those properties use sensors now so where if you take anything out of there how'd we get charged to you or charged to your room and if you take it out at least I think an MGM you take it off the sensor for anything up 40 more than 45 seconds you get charged for it so people who come to hotel rooms they want to use a minibar they like take the stuff out of the fridge and they want to put their own stuff in there you can't do it you can't do without getting charged but I like that because I believe MGM charges 50 bucks if you do that and I think Caesars charged like 75 or something if you're gonna wind up using the mini-fridge inside the room so there's another fee another thing that upsets people when they come here you know say they've had to drive in here from California Arizona or something like that they drive in here they have a long trip they pay for parking they have to pay for the resort fees in their room which sometimes are even higher than the actual room rate itself then they go to their room and they find out they wanna use that mini fridge it's gonna cost some fifty or seventy-five bucks to put their own stuff and their fees and taxes fees and taxes fees and taxes things like that just want upsetting people more and more over time here in Las Vegas the second thing that pisses people off about Vegas a lot of people think is ruining Las Vegas is changes that casinos have made when it comes to gaming when it comes to gambling here those are things that have really upset a lot of people and you hear about people again who've been coming here for a long time talking about like how tight the slot machines are now you get a lot of people who like to come here and sit down a slot machines and just play and enjoy and for them that's entertainment that's part of their entertainment budget part of their fun budget when they come here to Las Vegas is to play slots sometimes they end up winning some money they're happy that they win even if they don't win for them that's some entertainment but if you feel like you're playing and you essentially have no chance to win because the machines are so much tighter it takes away from the fun of it for people and it also makes people want to not play as much other things like six five blackjack versus three - blackjack I did a video about that before how the odds are or you know that you can't win as much doing six five blackjack versus three - blackjack and you've really hard to find three - on the strip here you got to go off the strip downtown stuff like that triple zero on the roulette wheel that's another one that pisses people off because it puts the odds and the houses favor even more than they already are because the house really has the odds in their favor and now they just helping themselves out even more when you're trying to play and when you're trying to gamble there another thing that happened recently - this year was with the West Gate they got rid of their full pay video poker machines and for three - black Jack's a hundred bucks so another thing that just happened to change you know here's people just getting upset with some of the things that the casinos are doing that makes it even tighter and makes it even harder for them to win money so you feel like you have hardly any chance to win it's like why would you even go play so it's another thing that upsets people about Las Vegas when they come here on vacation the third thing that upsets people with Vegas and this actually segues nicely from point number two is that you know casinos and hotels have become less lenient with their comps okay in the past people used to gamble quite a bit here in Vegas they felt they had better odds to win they liked to gamble they liked to play but even if they lost they were able to get a room comp they're able get a knight combo we get shows show tickets there we get dinner comps something like that so even though you were playing and even though you've lost money you steal flike you got something for it even if you didn't win okay and the casino Stowe comes out ahead because some of those comps some of those things really don't cost them a lot of money you know compared to how much a person's playing compared to how much the purse is gambling but with places being less lenient with places being more strict again I feels like it takes a lot of the fun out of it for people because looks like okay they don't have as good a chance of winning and they don't get complex they used to in these places in these casinos you know I talked to a guy before who was a pit boss in one of the casinos here one of the larger properties one of the more familiar ones you guys would know and he said you know he goes yeah giggles we don't calm people anything like we use he's been and I think at least 12 years he's been doing it so he's been in gaming for at least 12 years he goes I goes we don't comp like we used to four people it goes if it's there's a small issue it goes you know I can just take care of it myself because but mangos we don't calm probably anything to people like we used to in the past he goes it's just how it is now with these casinos with these hotels the fourth thing that has changed in Las Vegas in recent years for a lot of people that he'll hip sets them is the high prices and you might as well high prices of what well high prices now just about everything okay from your flight coming to Vegas to your hotel room which of course the resort fees don't help when it comes to the overall price we can go to your checkout you're surprised at how much the total cost is when it comes to food making used to be really well known striving lots of cheap food and cheap eats around town that's not the case as much anymore driving cheap buffets you could go to and just and just stuff your face now some these buffets 40 plus 50 plus 60 plus dollars depending on where the buffet is what time of day you're going what day the week it is all that kind of stuff the amount of money you have to spend on that people come into nightlife nightlife in Vegas these big clubs is about getting bottle service you know it's not just about going in and enjoying the music or whatever the case is now it's almost more like a concert type thing or people have to get bottle service and that's like the cool thing to do is to pay you know $1,000 or more just to get a bottle table inside the club and if it's a big night there could be a 2,000 dollar minimum or more plus taxes plus fees plus auto gratuity on some of these so you think a thousand bucks is what you're gonna pay no you're gonna mind of having that taxes fees gratuity all that stuff into it and that's just for a group of you know say like four or five guys that's somewhat it covers that's how much it cost you to get in there and be able to have this experience that you want here in Las Vegas other things that have gone up to show tickets that's not one ticket prices for show so we were talking about much more expensive shows are now in Vegas compared to how they used to be obviously having to pay more for the ticket price versus in the past and used to be able to get caught those things a lot easier doesn't help either other things to like you know we talked about the charging for parking earlier but also now charging for a valet somebody that was free for a long time now suddenly you're gonna have to fork over money for valet when you come to Vegas so you're forking over money to park your forking over money to valet you're paying all these resort fees that are annoying to deal with you're having other fees that are hidden sometimes on your bill like your food bill see it or the CNF tax on your food bill and things like that all kinds of things that just raise the price in Vegas like new it's like almost every single area that you could think of prices I've raised whether it's whether it's the flight whether it's the hotel whether it's the food was the entertainment anything you can think of prices have gone up for people and it has made Vegas less affordable so people can't come as off and they're not gonna spend as much money as they can and people who come here you know they don't come as offer people who've never been here before my comment realize how much you know they really needed to have to come to Vegas maybe they didn't budget enough so they're probably not gonna come back as off and they might choose to go somewhere else so you can get a better bargain for their money the fifth and final thing that I will say when it comes to things that have changed in Vegas that really upset people and annoy them and this is a big one that can really could say cover a lot of areas is I would say the lack of personal touch that's something that I hear people talk about people mention when they come here to Las Vegas and you know part of this is unavoidable because we have technology that makes changes so you know you go to front desk now instead of actually be able you know do the $20 trick and tip someone to get a room upgrade there's a machine checking you in your on the kiosk you just check it in on the kiosk putting in your information there is no there's no human to talk to there's no human you worker there's no chance to get that upgrade you're anything like that you just that's all you get if you go to some places have you know robot bartenders right that's the thing is gonna be more common in the future I'm sure robot bartenders that just want to making your drinks for you room service the Vdara has been known for having robots that bringing your food for room service now other places I'm sure gonna be following suit at some point you probably gonna have you know car dealers that are robots and things like that other places like the West Cape I talked about in the video in the past how they when you sit down and play there the waitress doesn't have to come anymore when you're doing slots because the Machine tells you when you're eligible to get a free drink based on time and how much you've played so the waitress instead of coming by like before like she used to it you get tipper five bucks to Eber coming back irregularly and get you more drinks and that kind of thing or you know tipping a dollar to each drink if she'd come and take care of because you were tipping and taking care of her now the way just ascent you could just stand over by the well way to get way to get notified that you know hey this slot this person this slot machine is eligible for a drink they're gonna get a drink now they go over there and just get the machine is basically taking out the human factor in it where you could maybe get a better bargain because you were taking care of another person now you have a machine in there and that just basically disrupts the entire process other things to people talking about like with the casino is getting tighter on their games with not giving out comps as much you know people feel like that that's that they're just another number that's how a lot of people feel they're just another number of you know the 40-plus million people who come here they feel like they're now they went from Vegas went from being a place where they would come for their vacation they could come you know take a break from the busy life or take a break from their boring life and come here for a few days they got treated well the cost was affordable they had all kinds of fun for a good amount of money and it was a great place for them to come now they feel like they're not getting that same kind of value so they feel like okay I'm just being treated like another number here in this property where I can't get comped what I used to the food is more expensive prices all over the place they're more expensive so I'm not getting the same kind of value so to some people leaves a bad taste in their mouth when they do that leaves a very bad taste in their mouth and like I said before especially once you've been coming here for decades because it's not the Vegas that they had years ago it's not the Vegas that they fell in love with so these are the five points I want to wrap up with you guys tell me which one of these maybe bothers you the most I'd like to hear what you guys have to say because I know a lot of you talked about these things in the past I really obviously I love living here in Vegas I've been doing this channel for years and I think Vegas is a great place to come and visit on vacation and a lot of you still feel the same way but there are things I'd be more voice to say man I love coming to Vegas but this part really annoys me this part bothers me this is something new they've done that I don't like this or whatever the case is this is take you know charging for this now takes money away from me be able to have fun in these other areas so tell me about this and what bothers you the most which of these points is the most irritable for you when you come here to Vegas because some of you have changed your travel plans we're set up coming multiple times here you come once a year you come every other year you've changed because of a lot of these fees these taxes these changes that have gone
