have you done this before I didn't just have breaking my finger who's that does that first try first try [Music] my name is Aaron Cairo I'm a sponsored skateboarder from the San Francisco Bay Area and today I'm gonna teach you five beginner freestyle tricks and since I'm terrible at freestyle I've I bought two of the world's top foremost experts in the whole activity of freestyle skateboarding here today we got Mike Osterman and Ethan young and rodney mullen is right around the corner I'm sorry okay Ronny mom's not coming but if he does want to come please let us know I love how you said you bought them and not brought this yeah I was gonna say that well you said you bought them who you said you bought the two best freestyle skaters well they weren't cheap to get up here so okay I have no idea how to do freestyle have you seen from my recent Instagram videos got some tricks though you've got a few things we're gonna change that cereal healed a Casper like I've never been able in those no I just taught him do like four 360s before we started filming today I don't know where no warm-up and I was like great to it this might have been the best three sixes I've ever done okay so we want to do we want to do easy freestyle tricks that anybody could learn mm-hmm which there isn't really that's not really a thing right I think so I think there's some some beginner tricks yeah probably with five like basic beginner tricks you can do with just about anything okay can you set up so just give this trick number one we're just gonna just gonna throw right into this and we're just gonna go for it so besides footwork which i think is like the most important thing to learn first yeah rail stands are like the easiest one that I teach people okay let's go rail stands you'll start with your tail down right on the back you can have your heels on the ground that's okay the way I do it is I'll start by taking my back foot placing the sole of my back foot against side of the board like so I'll put the board to the left then once the board is pushed over you'll step up I can actually do this one this is the one and only freestyle trick that Gabe can do so if you got him in a game of skate don't do this one okay so it's just a quick recap I'm gonna tell me if I get all the steps step number one you're on the board like this toes to the nose the tail like so step two take your back foot whichever one that may be and put it look back with with skateboarding there's all these like little secrets okay so then you just kind of step three step on for beginners that may be a little hard to actually stand on it though so what kind of tips would you have for staying on there balanced to get your balance bend your knees drop your center of gravity low just like Aaron's doing right now and just try to loosen up stay loose if you if you lock up and you straighten your legs out you're gonna lose your balance as we stay loose stay kind of relaxed you'll have a better time maintaining your balance and staying stable [Applause] hey now smooth alright trick number one so you know it's funny about to walk the dog is that and our everything counts Kate we have our own version of the walk the dog that is exponentially different from yours no way what's that one that look like I can show you I kinda really want to see it hey no no that's a watchdog okay show us walk the dog good news okay so the basic walk the dog you kind of just keep your foot centered in the middle of your board and then you're gonna step around and kind of like hook your foot this way then on the ball of your foot and just repeat [Applause] okay so so like this whoa this is the one footwork thing that I think I can actually do that execution Wow dude that looks so fun good thing that he does really well is his front foot is always pointing forward and his shoulders are always pointing forward too so if I can have your your right foot and your shoulders always kind of play to that direction allows you to stay balanced that's how you make consistent walk the dogs so a switchblade it's kind of like a shove it and kind of like a pivot the way you're gonna do it is you'll take your front foot and point it up the notice appointed vertically up to the the nose of the board you'll use your ankle what in the world it's like a nollie front sub yeah so you see it once the board is rotating 180 my front foot is actually pinning that to that nose down and then you just jump forward just take him out Yeah right sort of it's one of those tricks where when you first start doing it it's gonna be kind of sketchy yeah like it won't get the full 180 rotation but as you get more of a feel for the trick it starts to look more proper and flare out the right way yeah cuz you like do you like a little get back oh [Applause] whoa so that's three that was so fast have you done this before now way I want to just do I want to do footwork the switchblade it might take a minute [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] okay check for around four I would say trick number four is the tail stop finger flip oh okay and I didn't just have breaking my finger I can do it I can do that didn't have just break my finger I'm from Montana okay there's two ways to do tail stop finger flicks you can do it like a kickflip so flip it like the same directions a kickflip or you can flip like a heel flip yeah he makes that look very easy personally I find it a lot easier and I think one foot and I think it was like that kind of okay yeah there's no real like rules as to how you have to stand on the board you can have one foot on the board you can have your front foot on the board whatever's easiest for you when you're learning yeah I forget I can't remember if I was doing it like this before or like this give me a tail stop finger all right can I do double those are easier for me easier look fine to me alright so when you only have three fingers available because you're like the Ninja Turtles try to have your thumb cars it that way spread your thumb out so you can push down through the first triangular again forgive you John Medusa you will when you actually get one I'll send someone to get it for you but okay alright that's on the Sun right Mike so for you guys at home you gotta see it's not like this it's like this so your thumb can push down I'm just trying to buy myself time cuz it really nervous any size saying it's not very often I offer those anymore I know what are you guys number five to be number five these are going fast yeah but I'd have more downtime in between tricks to like think of more but your learning needs way too fast I love smooth I love smoothies that's the one that I had to like break down whatever I was first starting boozy movies yes so yeah so so smoothies are kind of like end over so it's like oh right it's like it's like learning how to code for the first time an end over is done by pivoting off your notes while rolling [Applause] now that's kind of a super beginner trick but from there you can learn how to do smoothies which is a one-foot it endures so instead of having your foot right in front of the bolts you'll start by having your foot a little bit farther back and you'll actually turn your toe in now this allows you to do is press down on your heel to pick the interesting okay and you had a tip yeah whenever I first started learning them I would just kind of stand still with my front or my back foot off the board and I just kind of like throw up that's how I learned how to do smoothies so get used to like balancing one footed to pivot oh I have a feeling no one else will learn this way but okay didn't work for me I did not have that okay it does kind of give you a sense of like where the sweet spot is for your foot like you have to have your foot kind of right over the bolts you have enough angle control to lift those wheels up but if your foots too far forward [Applause] and that nose-down right away and that's not good so you only take your foot off in the first spin 180 it's just like a regular end over okay put it in that first try [Music] [Applause] my favorite one is my favorite new trick make it look so easy so that's five trick I think that one is a good I like this because I feel like you don't need to learn how to ollie to learn that know so many freestyle tricks you don't need to learn how to ollie it's just about figuring out how to dance on your board or like do tricks that manipulate your board come on I'm winded again a huge thanks for coming out and I was amazing yeah dude we're gonna do another video you could teach me more tricks are you ready to do another video I'm deadly scared so check out all those other videos right there subscribe like
