#477 Bonus Driving Footage The Life of an Owner Operator Flatbed Truck Driver

their little loves is tight parking's real tight in there very difficult to back into the parking spots not that i can't back into the parking spot i worry about the guy next to me all right good morning let me take this jacket here oh so i'm gonna give you a little bit of bonus footage we are uh we're at the loves up here by near grand rapids but we are gonna go hang out at the rest area the parking here at this loves is uh a little tight and there's plenty of room over the rest area which is about seven miles away now it did start snowing a little bit nothing crazy but it is enough it is enough to uh get the ground covered but a little bit of bonus footage the one thing see how tight this little uh exit is right here that's another thing i don't like about this gloves it is tight uh the interstate is not too bad i've already been driving on the interstate a little bit this morning it's not too bad but it's just enough to uh to make it slippery so gotta be careful all right we finally got the green line there's a long red light so tomorrow morning we're gonna go pick up an air conditioner a big one it's not oversized but i think it's big um take it to alamogordo in mexico and then i'm gonna run home real quick go to my doctor's appointment and then come right back out wipers so you can see what's going on but the rest area is like seven miles from right here it's a nice big restaurant plenty parking nice open area that little loves is tight parking's real tight in there very difficult to back into the parking spots not that i can't back into the parking spot i worry about the guy next to me so i left louisville yesterday evening time i drove up just on the other side of uh michigan indiana 131 there just north of elkhart camped out there and the reason i left last night out of louisville is because they're supposed to get some icy stuff down there and i didn't want to have to play in that all day yesterday or all day today so it looks pretty wet pretty wet put a little bit of slush on the road but nothing too terrible it was actually a little bit worse right before i stopped at the love so i think the temperature is coming up just a little bit i did see three cars in the ditch and one pickup truck and it really rolled over roof was all caved in so today temperature is pretty warm right now and i should say pretty warm the temperature is not that cold to where the road would freeze with black ice one little trick for black ice uh especially on your vehicle is to look in the mirror and see if there's spray coming off your tires the other thing to look and see if the car passes you see if there's spray coming off their tires look over across but that's usually a pretty good indication that there's no black ice present at nighttime when you're driving and you're worried about black ice another little thing is to watch for the reflection of uh lights and taillights on the road if it's starting to look like a mirror with the taillights shining on the road be careful 2.6 miles to the rest area i like this rest area one of my favorites rest areas in michigan nice and big michigan rest areas are usually pretty good they usually got enough room parking uh i give i give michigan a high score for their rest areas so when wake up in the morning we'll have about 20 miles over to where we got a load and there's the side one mile the window's a little squirt so all righty here we are slow down a little bit on the road so the problem is you can't see the lines on the road on the parking lot so we're uh we're gonna have to kind of guess where uh we're supposed to park i'm looking to see here there's some tracks right there let's uh we'll park right here and hope that uh i hope that we're kind of lined up maybe i guess that looks kind of good if the snowplow comes through today or whatever i'll uh and i can see the lines i'll move uh i'll move the truck but that's it for today we didn't drive very far you have 6 hours and 25 minutes of remaining drive time i'm uh changing the off duty on my logbook here it's asking me for the load input let me put this in real quick i'm empty so i gotta i do have to write the words empty though all right we're off duty we'll just hang out here i guess i'm parked okay there's not much snow now you guys can see just enough so all right that's it that's your bonus for today talk to you later thanks for watching
