so this is probably the most requested video i've had in quite some time and that is how much the shop has costed me to build this shop was a 40 by 50 the last 10 foot of which is going to be our overhang the actual utility space is 40 by 40 and the eave height is a 12 foot eave height i think our peak is around 14 ish foot keep in mind we're in the middle of paint so if you see the paint on the walls looks kind of weird it's because we're in the middle of painting it and we only got one coat on there right now and we're going to do two to three coats depending on how it looks after two so keep that in mind too but we're gonna do a reveal video with the paint we're actually missing the stripe right now we haven't painted the stripe yet so stay tuned for the paint and also all the lights are on for the first time you guys haven't seen all the lights are on yet so all the lights are looking really good inside the shop once we get stuff in here and start filling up this space the echo will kind of chill out a little bit because we got insulation through the whole building so keep that in mind also the first thing you got to do before you start building your shop is prepare the ground that is going to be laid on so to me that cost me about a thousand dollars i had to rent a skid steer from home depot for two days i also had to buy a chainsaw to cut down a couple trees so all in all together cost me about a thousand dollars to do the ground work to prepare for the concrete to be laid i had a lot of great help from some good friends of mine that helped me prepare the ground so i was lucky when it comes to that and hopefully you guys are too because that saves you on the long run the ins and outs that you can kind of do yourself and prepare and save in labor for your contractors will save you in money in the long run renting the skid steers with the tracks is highly recommended that machine was pretty awesome and definitely worth every penny from renting that from the home depot we definitely got our money's worth from that the next biggest purchase is going to be the concrete after you've prepared your ground you've got to go ahead and get your concrete laid for my 40 by 50 12 foot footers all the way around with moisture barrier with rebar all the way all the way around for our footers to make sure we're not going to crack where our columns are set that was around 000 ish dollars i can't remember the exact amount but it was it was around 9 000 keep in mind if you use the same guy i did i made a video on it i worked with steve at allstate concrete did a great job keep in mind though price is very concrete price varies so if you use the same guy just kind of keep that in mind also in your area labor might be twice as expensive or less expensive i have no idea this is where i live in south alabama so that's how much it cost me to get the concrete poured the whole process took about four days for them to complete it they first came in here and of course made it square then they framed it off then they went ahead and dug their footers and then they poured the next day so it was about four days all in all they did a great job happy how it turned out and looking forward to epoxying this floor it's been about four weeks to let it sit and cure and we are going to be epoxying this floor as soon as we get all the paint work done and the drywall finished after your concrete's set and your anchor bolts are set and everything is good to go with your anchor bolt plan the next thing the biggest thing is going to be the building the kit so i'm going to talk about how much the actual kit cost the red iron kit from big red metals in slogan alabama highly recommend them they had no idea did youtube they had no idea i worked with them in the past but it was the years ago and it's not like they were my they were my buddy giving me the buddy price it's not like they knew i was doing youtube and giving me the buddy youtuber price it has nothing to do with that i called probably about 20 major contractors that make these red iron kits and right here next to my town big red metals in sloka alabama they actually had the best price by quite a bit and i was really amazed by it and i was happy to be able to support a local company but if it would have been way more expensive i would have just bought a kit from somewhere up north or something had it shipped down here but they actually had the best price so the kit itself the red iron kit plus gutters plus insulation was 21 000 that keep in mind 40 by 50 12 foot eave heights this red iron kit i mean you can check out the rafters this is not no you probably have heard of a red iron kit being cheaper than this in the past and i've seen some absolutely trash red iron kits never going to put a name out there but there is some trash red iron kits out there on the market do not be fooled guys you can check out the rafters the steel the obviously the finish of this red iron kit is actually really good not gonna lie it's not the best i've ever seen as far as the red iron kits but it's actually up there and very affordable and that's what i wanted i wanted a great kit at an affordable price and not something that's cheap they have the ability to ship kids all across the country and actually overseas as well don't know if i mentioned it yet but the kit actually comes with the doors too and install the price the 21 000 is everything insulation roof walls doors installed doors 10 by 10 10 by 12 and a 10 by 10 roll up they're pretty good doors and actually the fit and finish of them i'm pretty happy with we're going to drywall all around it so you might see we're kind of in the middle of drywall and paint right now so keep in mind that when you're looking at the doors but we wanted the doors to be in there before we drywalled around it just so we can make sure we're not getting in the way of the doors and their supports so the very next thing we dealt with after the building was up is our drainage because we didn't want water to get in now in my backyard we have a slope coming right into the shop so we have to deal with drainage from the get-go neighbors yard is completely they they almost look like they're getting water in their home almost let's go check out the shop concrete and how it's turning out we're already planning on building a french drain and a draining system around the entire shop but check out this river it's just flowing right into the shop shop space over here you guys can see me and jonathan came out here yesterday and we it was already starting to get a lot of water but this is four straight days i was to have supplies in here right now this is just a straight river run straight into the shop which which we knew we were gonna have to deal with this you know as soon as we poured the slab we knew exactly what we needed to do so this ain't a surprise so drainage was about a thousand dollars that's the drainage pipe that's all the gravel that's the drain basins that's the everything that's the holes being done the drainage rock was definitely the most expensive stuff but the piping was fairly inexpensive we got about 115 foot of it maybe 120 foot and the drainage was roughly about a thousand dollars for the shop so you definitely need drainage and that's how much it costed us again a couple of good buddies we knocked it out in the weekend and turned out pretty good i think after we got the drainage done we needed electricity the electricity was pretty expensive and uh he's actually still working on it you can see my panel over there is opened up and he's actually finishing up the switches but all the power is ran we got the air compressor out back with the air line coming through we got running water out here we got electricity got like i think 20 outlets in this thing and we got two 220 volt outlets over there and my new welder is actually on the way so i'm very excited to try that thing out i haven't had really any experience when it comes to welding so i'm going to be learning so stay tuned for that guys and also if you're new to the channel make sure you're subscribing and hitting that push notification bell because we build trucks on this channel we're gonna build a lot of trucks in here old trucks new diesel trucks we're gonna be doing a lot of stuff in this garage so if you're new make sure you're subscribing giving the channel a shout and some support so now that you guys hopefully hit that subscribe button let's talk about the electricity cost so the electrical cost i'm at it i'm still working on it still buying little ins and outs but we're pretty much 95 percent done and i'm at about 5500. when it comes to electrical work that's the heavy duty gauge wire running from the house under the ground direct burial all the way out here that's the plugs the outlets the switches the box that's the labor that's the running the lights that's all the boxes in the ceiling that's everything so about fifty five hundred dollars roughly is how much it costs to get electrical workout done out here and have it all done at first i was thinking about doing the electrical work myself but then i thought quickly ah no i don't have any experience in it don't want to shock myself don't want to have like a safety hazard so i definitely wanted to hire somebody that knew what they were doing and that's what i did and when he came over here he said hey i've done a lot of drywall work do you want me to knock that out too and i said how much would it cost and then we got the drywall so the framing of drywall leads us right into the framing and drywall the framing and drywall work all said and done is about 2 800 that's the two by fours the drywall the mud the tape the labor the i mean there's everything dude i mean there's a lot of stuff when it comes to drywall and paint paint i haven't mentioned yet that's not enough the framing and drywall is about twenty eight hundred dollars i'm about to mention the paint here in a second and that's if you want to finish it you can just get a red iron kit not finished if you don't want to finish it out hey you don't have to finish this out they make wire that's made to go through red iron kits it comes with like a protective sleeve you can run wire but it has to be to code and has to have that protective sleeve i don't know if it's mc cable or what but uh mc cable is what we ran up top because you can see in the red iron kits it's touching red iron so you can't just run exposed wires so we got the mc cable ran for our lights and that's the way we ran that because we're going through red iron steel instead of just wood so a lot of things you got to keep in mind there when you're building and planning out if you're going to frame or not the frame but twenty eight hundred dollars to frame and drywall is how much it costed me so obviously we got 40 foot 40 foot 40 foot 12 foot height that's how much paint we had to work with and we're going to talk about paint costs because we're going to do this video off my building and you can pick and choose what you kind of want to do and kind of want to learn from this hey i'm just telling you how much i paid so all the paint together from masking tape to the paint cost itself we actually bought a 200 airless sprayer i think it's a great coat it's been working pretty good and so we didn't have to do a paint brushes and all that for this big of an area because that spray gun throws some paint and i also am paying him because he wanted to do the paint because he did the drywall and he won he just kind of wanted to do it himself he asked to do it and we came up with a really good price for him to go and knock the paint out while he's here doing everything else anyway so the paint masking tape all the supplies were about a thousand dollars to do this and that's two heavy coats going into three coats and that's three different colors and this is the highest paint that lows has as far as quality goes keep in mind we're also using an exterior paint so we can get water we can splash water on the walls and then this is a shop so water is going to get on the walls we'll be washing stuff in here water will be sprayed everywhere so this is exterior paint with a satin finish because when we film we don't want it to glare off the the lights the leds will get to those next but the everything about a thousand dollars ish and if you want to do it yourself you can probably save a little money here and there especially if you got paint left over from previous job or go with a little bit less of expensive as a paint the next thing we're going to talk about and it's kind of way overboard so you guys don't even have to come close to this price but i'm a filmer i'm a youtuber i need no shadows i need the brightest lights possible let's talk about the lighting we got the lighting from prolighting.com they actually were courteous enough to give us a discount code so use paradox seven to get seven percent off your order they have all kinds of lights on there from indoor to outdoor to bay lights to pad lights to high bays to linear to the any light you can imagine they got on their website you get seven percent off by using my code but very happy with the lights 13 300 lumens for each and every single one of them and we have literally no shadows in here which is exactly the way i wanted it because if i'm going to be filming in here i want it to be really high quality and not have any sort of lighting issue we got 12 of them they're around 400 ish dollars each now you guys don't have to do that or anywhere close to it these are actually the ones with the battery packs in them they have this same style light without the battery packs when i say battery packs i mean if we lost power in here we can run these things i think two hours with no power whatsoever if like we had a power outage they would automatically kick on the battery packs built into the lights all those together we're in about i think it's like 4 500 bucks ish on lights and you guys don't have to be anywhere close to that keep in mind that's included the padlight we got a pad light out here and a mandoor light out here as well so that those two areas are lit up when we're out here working at night so the biggest last cost is going to be the flooring and deciding what you want to go with i know what i'm going to go with it's going to be about 2 500 to do the epoxy flooring that i want to do a two-part epoxy that's going to last a long time they make garage flooring they you could coat this garage floor for like 100 bucks for some of the stuff they have at lowe's it just kind of stains the concrete it makes it look like a wet look a wet finish you can do that it resists i think gas a little bit and maybe oil or something it may not even resist oil but they make uh cheap stuff out there cheaper stuff out there some people recommend it so they can just recoat every year and keep it nice and finished and that just put a lot of money up front anywhere from a hundred dollars to seven thousand dollars is where you can be looking at as far as your finishing on your floors i'm going to end up paying i think around 2 500 ish dollars to go ahead and coat these floors and this is around 1600 square feet we're going to be doing a video on that as soon as we get the paint and the drywall done all this dust in the air definitely don't want to get started on these floors until all that's out of here so we can really deep clean these floors before we etch it primer it and epoxy it and clear it and it's going to look really good guys we're going to have i don't want to give a lot out a lot of information out but these floors are gonna look really good and we're gonna do a whole video on it so if you're new subscribe and if you are subscribed hit those push notifications and keep the look out for that video because it's coming up very soon so that brings the grand total to 45 500 ish now keep in mind the ish is a big issue because your labor is going to be different your shipping price is going to be different on products you may choose a cheaper light system you may choose a cheaper flooring system you may already have stuff for gravel you may have stuff for paint that's just how much i spent on this building and being fully transparent with you guys on how much it costed me it's definitely a huge upfront cost and a huge investment but for me being a youtuber in my space is going to be not only beneficial for my business and for me to make money because i cannot even tell you how many times i went to record a video but couldn't because it's raining or the weather is just terrible but now that i have this space i can still come in here and work and be able to make money and also it's going to be good for the property value of the house and long term being able to come in here get work done anytime i want whether it's light out dark doesn't matter anymore uh used to i couldn't fit a truck into the garage because the truck was too big and the garage was only seven foot high now that's not gonna be a problem i got 12 foot garage doors so there's a lot of things i went into making this decision and just make sure you're making the right decision for you and your family and you guys will be all right so hopefully this video can help somebody out there i got this video requested a ton so i hope you guys did enjoy it if it did help you out let me know down in the description below if you have any questions just drop them down in the comment section down below and also if you're new make sure you are subscribing because we got a lot of work left to do and to see the finished results kind of a tv up here a neon sign it's going to look really good we're going to finish this thing out and finish the paint work like i said the paint is only got one coat right now so it looks crazy bad on camera that's to be expected because the drywall is just thirsty and wants to suck up that paint and once we do another layer on there it's going to turn out really good i do like the colors but the full reveal with all the colors and everything done is not yet done but here's a huge sneak peek so stay tuned guys if you're new hit that subscribe button if you enjoyed the video hit that like button down below it helps with the search results and helps grow the channel appreciate every single one of you out there supporting the channel the concrete guy information will be down below the building kit guy his information will be down below highly recommend them both so if you want to work with those guys feel free to if you don't you don't but hope you guys enjoyed it we'll see you next one peace you
