40 Facts About EVERY Pokémon Champion and Elite Four Member

a couple weeks ago I made a video on facts about every Pokemon gym leader as an extension of my facts about every Pokemon series and you guys supported the crap out of it so first off thank you all so much for that and second we're going to go ahead and continue the fun today with facts about every pokemon champion and Elite Four member these guys despite usually only appearing at the very end of the game and nowhere else are really important and iconic simply for the role they carry as the best trainers in the region and despite their limited screen time in many cases they all have some interesting facts to share about themselves so without any further ado let's go ahead and dive right in beginning of course with Gen 1 the ice type user Lorelei was actually the very first Elite Four member to appear outside of the Pokemon League itself in the games as you can encounter her outside of the league in FireRed and LeafGreen an interesting tidbit about Bruno is that in FireRed and LeafGreen after defeating him Bruno's overworld sprite will always face away from the player which likely carries inspiration from his martial artist ruse an ironic thing about Agatha is that even though she is a ghost type specialist the common type shared by nearly all of her pokemon across all of the main series games and especially in the original Gen 1 games is poison this is due to the fact that in Gen 1 the gang gar line were the only ghost types all of whom were also part poisoned and adding to the irony this also makes Agatha the only member of the Gen 1 only for whose team all share a common type despite that being the whole purpose of them having type specializations in the first place a fun fact about Lance is that he is the only trainer in the games currently that you can battle with in a double battle against in a double battle and against in a single battle all within the same game as you battle with him in a double battle at the Team Rocket headquarters in HeartGold and SoulSilver against in a double battle in the Dragon's Den also in HeartGold and SoulSilver and obviously in a single battle as the champion in HeartGold and SoulSilver as well in pokemon yellow half of blues team is made up of pokemon that evolved with the use of evolutionary stones which could be a reference to his starter in this game Eevee the other Kanto champion trace is also the only champion or a leaf or member who shares his name with an ability as trace was one of the original abilities introduced in Gen 3 the first member of JoJo's Elite for will has several similarities with cantos firstly for members Lorelai as not only are both of them the first member of their Elite Four but both of them have also used Slowbro and jinx on their team and they both have similar hairstyles and hair color as well despite this not being accomplished as an elite form member in pokemon yellow kogas strongest Pokemon is his venomoth at level 50 which is by far the strongest Pokemon of any gym leader who is fifth in their lineup with the next closest being opals alchemy at level 38 despite being a member of the indigo League for the johto Games every one of Karen's Pokemon in the original gold silver and crystal essentially comes from Kanto Umbreon evolves from Eevee vileplume murkrow which can only be found in Kanto Gengar and houndoom evolving from hound hour which can also only be found in Kanto in the original gen two games moving on to Hoenn now as we already covered lance in the Kanto segment Sydney is a rather unique member of Hohenzollern Lee ho and elite form member in Ruby and Sapphire to not use two of the same Pokemon but he's also the only honah Lee for member who does not share a type specialty with that of a Kanto a leaf or member strangely and interestingly Phoebe is the only ghost type specialist Elite Four or otherwise who has never been seen at any time owning a gar from ruby sapphire and emerald too there or as remakes Glacia XY's actually change color in the original games her eyes are brown and in auras they are blue the dragon-type user Drake is actually the only member of the Hoenn league for to have appeared in the anime to this point right before battling against Steven in Pokemon emerald in meteor falls he will mention battling alongside you in the sootopolis Space Center when in reality the Space Center is actually in mossdeep city speaking of pokemon emerald in that game wallace is the champion of the Hoenn region and he actually has a lot of similarities with another champion iris first they were both formally trained by gym leaders with Wallace being trained by one and iris bide Raiden second they were both former gym leaders and word the eighth gym leader in their lineup when they occupied that position at least in pokemon white where iris is the gym leader and upon becoming champion the people who trained them one and Raiden took over their place in their gym moving on to sin oh and is actually revealed in one of the TV shows that run on the TVs in pokemon black and white 2 that erin used to be a gym leader in sin Oh before eventually becoming a part of their elite 4 depending on where you view her Bertha's hip out on actually changes gender in the games and in the Pokemon Adventures manga her her pout on his female but it is male in the TCG and in the anime despite there being nearly no fire types in sin Oh Game Freak for some reason decided to make Flint of the sin Oh a leaf or a fire type specialist and as such he only has two fire types on his team in diamond and pearl and this makes him the elite form member with the lowest number of Pokemon of his type specialty on his team furthermore Flint is also the only elite form member that uses a starter Pokemon Lucian along with fellow Sinnoh elite form member Aaron actually shared their names with the main characters of another game on the yes lunar nights making this a possible reference other than your rivals Cynthia is actually the only NPC in the game so far that is known to have received a pokedex moving into Unova now in an interview with Nintendo dream former Game Freak designer yasuke amaura stated that Shaun tall is based around the theme of black cats and the color around her neck is meant to be shaped like a cat's hand also according to Yasuko amaura Marshalls theme is that of a street fighter and tiger which can pretty easily be seen but another interesting fact from this interview is that originally his design featured a large hood and cat continuing the theming of the Unova elite 4 being revealed by Oh Maura he has also stated that Grimsley is based on the look of vampires even citing Dracula himself as inspiration as well as the more obvious theme of gambling in fact the dark blue and red color scheme of his outfit is meant to be a reference to a roulette table and wheel Caitlyn is the only Elite Four member or gym leader for that matter in pokemon black and white who does not use a move introduced in Gen 5 in any of her battles the original unified alder uses a team that references the uniform for in the Pokemon world tournament consisting of Chandelure for Chantal krookodile for Grimsley reunit lists for Caitlyn and Conkeldurr for marshal a strange fact for iris is that she is the only champion currently that does not use any Pokemon that take 21 egg cycles to hatch in their first forms with an egg cycle consisting of a certain number of steps required in order to complete it and therefore hatch the egg into Kalos now malva is the only elite form member that is a member of an evil team in both the games and anime Siebold contributes to a running theme of the Kalos Elite 4 that is aimed at representing various parts of French culture such as Sebold himself representing the culinary side which strum representing the history and drezna representing folklore and mythology believe it or not which strim is the first Elite Four member that appeared in person in a Pokemon movie debuting into the anime in diancie and the cocoon of destruction despite telling the player that her grandparents are from Sinnoh and it was their stories about Dialga and Palkia that inspired her to train dragon types drezna does not actually own any Sinnoh Pokemon let alone Sinnoh dragon types the Kalos champion diantha is directly based on famous actress Audrey Hepburn and bears a marked similarity to her visually as well getting into a Lola now in Pokemon Sun and Moon Halle is the one who gives the player the starter Pokemon with which to choose from and interestingly each of the starter pokemons secondary types have some type of special advantage or disadvantage against Hollis specialty fighting type as ralads Flying type is strong against fighting its evolution deciduous ghost type is immune to fighting in cinah Wars dark type is weak to fighting and pre marina's fairy type is strong against fighting types as well uniquely enough olivia is the only notable trainer who specializes in rock types who is not a gym leader in the anime acerola has a shiny mimic you that is said to be the ghost of a dead mimic you which actually implies that regular mimic you whatever they truly are under that Pikachu disguise aren't actually ghost type because how could you be the ghost of a ghost while not a fact it is possible that it could have gained the ghost type thanks to its resentful feelings towards Pikachu and is actually a pure fairy type in its true form as a nice subtle detail of her design Kay Healy's golf club has colors on the handle that referenced the beak of two cannon her signature Pokemon becoming an elite 4 member in ultra Sun and Moon mo Lane is the only developer of the PC storage system to have ever battled the player now we come to Professor kook we who yes I am covering here since he is the in effect champion that you battle for the title in sun and moon and the same goes for how in ultra sun and moon who i will also be covering as anyway professor qu cui is the very first character outside of rivals and player characters turned NPCs whose team can change depending on the starter Pokemon that you choose as the player in both Sun and Moon and ultra Sun and ultra moon how has a Pikachu and Eevee on his team that eventually do evolve but are also most likely a subtle hint at what would be the very next games in the series after the Sun and Moon games let's go Pikachu and Eevee and finally getting into gallery we moved straight to the champions since Galler does not have an Elite Four and speaking of Leone is the only champion to use not one but two starter Pokemon on his team since he uses Charizard as his signature Pokemon and the third Galler starter that neither you or hop picked also if you don't count Kukui and how as official champions every single champion who does use a starter Pokemon technically uses a Charizard as Leon obviously does Lance does in his champion battle and depending on the starter you choose blue can also use a Charizard as well and last but certainly not least we have mustard from the newly upcoming sword and shield isle of armor expansion who has been mentioned as a former champion of the gala region and as such mustard is the only Pokemon champion who made his debut into the games as a former champion of his respective region and there you have it everyone
