[Music] you [Music] Shalom this morning we are studying torah portion bay Kukai it's a difficult Ebru word to say the root word is the Hulk that is those laws that are unexplainable that defy human logic you know in the Torah there's different kinds of Commandments some are called Mishpatim and these are the judgments that make common sense because they have to do with being good to your fellow man or being good to the land or honoring God those are the majority of the commandments but there are also those commandments that are not reasonable to our human logic like why does the ashes of a red heifer purify the temple vessels we don't know but we do it by faith and so today this is what gets translated as decrees bei KU totai means by my decrees and God is sharing with Israel in this last portion of Leviticus that if they will follow his decrees they will be blessed but it's like it starts off with an if-then statement if you follow my decrees and you follow my Commandments then you'll be blessed but if you don't this is what's gonna happen and he lays out the cause and effect of Israel's curse or loss of blessing and how they'd be exiled from the land and what would happen to them in the foreign lands of their dispersion and hidden within this Torah portion we find a prophecy pertaining to Israel how long she would be punished how her descendants would forget who they are they would live like the Gentiles but in the last days they would awaken just like Ezekiel 37 s prophecy about the dry bones arising this is the descendants of Israel which are you and me today arising and so we're gonna look at some different hidden prophecies which are interesting as well as look at how Jeremiah's parallels this tour portion a little quote by Arashi which is very interesting in the very first verse if you have your Bibles turn with me to Leviticus 26 3 it is here that it says ìiím which means if I'm bait halt a Telugu Viet Mitzvahed Thai he says if you walk in my statutes and my Commandments and Rashi has an interesting statement on why he lists the hosts first and then the myths votes later mitts votes is the Hebrew word for Commandments he says when God says if by my decrees you go this verse contains three phrases that seem to be repetitious their combined meaning is as follows if by my decrees you go by engaging in intensive Torah study with the intention that such study will lead you to observe my Commandments properly and if you actually do perform them then you will merit the blessings given in the following verses so this is the if-then statement notice how one leads to the other the hope is the very first thing that's mentioned here and it is not something that you do logically but you do by faith God told me to do it and because I'm like a child that I'm learning I trust that he knows what's best for me and so I follow these decrees with the intention to study the Torah and understand how to observe his Commandments properly and how to apply them to my life I thought that was really interesting because a lot of times we just study the word we get an intellectual knowledge of it or we hear it but we don't do it or we don't seek the purpose of the study to actually teach us how to observe these Commandments in leviticus 20:6 you're going to see different segments of this chapter we're gonna focus mainly on this chapter the tour portion does go through chapter 27 but for the sake of focusing on these prophecies I want you to understand that God is introducing the blessings of keeping his law just like a father that would tell a child not to run out in the street there's some laws that start with thou shalt not and they sound like rules and restrictions but God's not laws not restrictive at all it is laws of health and prosperity and protection and blessing and he tells us other things to do and whether we understand it or not how they bring the blessings by faith when we observe it we receive those blessings into our life unfortunately when Israel went into the Exile they forgot the Torah and they experienced the cause-and-effect loss of blessings that went along with it but why did they get expelled from the land in the first place because even in the land when they had the Torah they were not following God's Mitzvah last week we studied about the shemitah and the Jubilees and how they were to give the land arrest and you know Judah did not give the land arrest for how many years 490 years and so seventy times seven there was seventy shemitah's in that 490 year period that they didn't observe this is why they had to go to Babylon for 70 years an exact number of years God always uses a day for a year principle when he's meeting out judgment to his children in love the scripture says God loves those whom he disciplines and chase honest so Judah repented after 70 years in the wilderness and came back to the land but Israel she had sinned through her wicked kings in the Northern Kingdom for 390 years and God had prophesied you will be expelled from the land for 390 years and if you repent you will come back but if you don't you'll be punished seven times moreover and that's in this chapter that prophecy we will look at that so the first 13 verses is God sharing the blessings he's always talking about the good in the beginning and at the end what's interesting is it's in between that he shares what happens the cause and effect if you leave his laws of love all of the tour can be summed up in how to love God and how to love your fellow man verses 14 through 39 talks about the prophesied effects of breaking God's law and what's interesting is when you look at these blessings in the first 13 chapters he gives general blessings he talks in general terms but when you get to the curses or the loss of blessings he talks very specifically in detail this is gonna happen to you and this is gonna happen to you and you know through the years of our exile the last 2000 years every single one of those things has happened to God's people where they've been Judah's experienced some of it israel's experience some of it so it's like why would God speaking blessings in general term but the curses in specific terms and I think it's to inspire a hard-hearted people to obedience you know love is the only true motivator but when that doesn't work what do you do with a child sometimes you have to speak harshly to them or you have to be specific about the cause and effect of their actions and that's what God is doing here it's in the midst of this prophesied punishment upon Israel that we get this hidden prophecy that we will look at then in verses 40 through 43 God prophesized that after so many years that Israel's in their exile they will confess their sins and they will seek to return to Torah which is very exciting this is the time in which we're living in and then he prophesized in the last two verses about the future restoration of Israel how he will not forget the Covenant he made with their forefathers and he will regather them back to the land God says if you follow my laws and faithfully observe my Commandments then I will grant rain so that the earth shall yield its produce and the trees their fruit I will grant peace and you shall sleep with no fear I will cause vicious beasts to withdraw from the land and your enemies will fall before you I your God will look with favor upon you and make your make you fertile and multiply I will establish my covenant with you I will place my sanctuary among you and my spirit will not reject you this was always God's design for him to be living at our core but because we weren't ready for the indwelling Shekinah he set up a model for a tabernacle that we could all live around in Israel and he said that tabernacle would be built where he placed his name and it is in I believe 2nd chronicles that six-six that God tells you specifically for the first time where he is placed his holy name and that's Jerusalem and that's why David and Solomon sought to build the temple there he says I will walk among you and I will be God to you and you will be a people to me I who broke the bonds of your slavery and taught you to walk upright this is such a beautiful intimate language that God is sharing with his people God is telling the history of Israel in advance what would happen if Israel left his ways and were exiled from the land then certain curses wouldn't take place within the timeframe of their punishment but just as the curses have come over the last two thousand seven hundred and thirty years so the final blessings will come for our people and for the final words of the admonition in this parsha is God's irrevocable oath that he will remember his covenant with the patriarchs and restore the children of Israel with the nation's watching so in verse 6 he says I will give Shalom in the land this is peace the first few verses we read about how he would bless the land and it would be abundant in produce and it would have its reign in due season now he's bringing peace from our enemies from animals and from the sword and in verse 8 there's this really interesting metaphor if you will you could take it literally with the power of God but he says that when you walk in his ways five of you will chase a hundred and a hundred of you who will chase ten thousand your enemies will fall before your sword so this is likened to exponential power of multiplication when we are in unity together with yah we see physical and spiritual blessings and protection that defy even human logic he says I will turn toward you I'll make you productive I'll increase your numbers and uphold my covenant with you first 10 says you will eat all you want from last year's harvest and throw out what remains of the old to make room for the new I'll put my Tabernacle among you and not reject you but I'll walk among you and be your God and you will be my people I am Yoda evolve hey your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be slaves I have broken the bars of your yoke of your bondage of your oppression so that you can walk upright and then what do we do and we walk upright when we're free it's amazing how we go back to slavery through sin and then this is where God says after explaining how he's released us from this bondage what's gonna happen how we'll go back to bondage if we don't walk in his ways verse 14 says but if you will not listen to me and obey all of these mitzvot these Commandments if you loathe my regulations and you reject my rulings in order not to obey my Commandments but cancel my covenant then so this is another if-then statement passage starts off with if you do follow my ways you will then be blessed now it's but if you don't then this is what's gonna happen in an if-then statement is always showing cause and effect it's not God arbitrarily punishing the people because he doesn't have to punish anyone the wages of sin is death and it's always when we are seeking self and self-gratification self-exaltation that we end up destroying ourselves self is always self-destructive the whole of the Torah is how to deliver us from that self which we call the lower self the flesh which is what Yeshua showed us how to deny through fasting and prayer to stay connected with the Father he says if you cancel my covenant and reject my mitzvot then this will happen I will bring terror on you wasting disease chronic fever to dim your sight and SAP your strength you will sow your seed for nothing because your enemies will eat the crops I will set my face against you and your enemies will defeat you those who hate you will hound you and you will flee when no one is producing from pursuing you and here is where the prophecy begins this actual timeline and he mentions it we often talk about by the witness of two whenever God mentioned something twice you know a matter is confirmed but this seven times prophecy is mentioned four times in the next verses he says if these things don't make you listen to me then I will discipline you seven times over for your sins so what this is to say is that verses 14 through 17 is when you're out of the land for those three hundred ninety years or Judah for the seventy years these things are gonna happen to you it's gonna happen to you from the time that you're being besieged by the foreign nations and through your whole exile until you come back and the purpose of allowing this is to bring you to repentance but if you don't repent God sadly said Israel this is what's gonna happen to you you're gonna be outside of the land experiencing these kind of things seven times more over so we have to ask ourselves what is this timeframe and I've listed these four different seven times as we read through it and then we will look at it he says if you don't listen to me then I will discipline you seven times over for your sins I will break the pride you have in your own power I will make your sky like iron and your soil like bronze you will spend your strength in vain because the land will not yield its produce or the trees in the field their fruit yes if you go against me and don't listen to me I will increase your calamities Sevenfold he mentions that a second time according to your sins now the only way that we know seven times what is to look at how many years God said Israel sinned and we find that in Ezekiel 4:4 remember God had Ezekiel I on his right side three hundred and ninety days for Israel and for their sins now at this time Judah had already been taken captive and been in exile forty thirty years so far so God had Ezekiel lie on his left side for Judah another forty years to give a total of 70 years for Judah which Jeremiah had prophesied in jeremiah 29:10 years before so we're gonna look at multiplying this and see what it comes up with he says I will increase your calamity Sevenfold and I'll send wild animals among you and they will rob you of your children destroy your livestock and reduce your numbers until your roads are deserted and this is exactly what happened with Jerusalem if in spite of all this you refuse my correction and you still go against me then I too will go against you and I yes I will strike you seven times moreover for your sins I will bring a sword against you for which will execute the vengeance of the Covenant you will be huddled inside your cities I will send sickness among you and you will be handed over to the power of the enemy I will cut off your supply of bread so that ten women will bake your bread in one oven and dole out your bread by weight and you will eat and not be satisfied and if for all this you still will not listen to me but go against me then I will go against you furiously and I will also chastise you yet seven more times for your sins you will eat the flesh of your own sons and eat the flesh of your own daughters and I will destroy your high places and cut down your pillars for Sun worship and throw your carcasses on the carcass of your idols and I will detest you I will lay waste to your cities and make your sanctuaries desolate so as to not smell your fragrant aromas I will desolate the land so that your enemies living in it will be astounded by it you know this happened in 70 AD when the Romans set siege against Jerusalem they starved them out to the point where it is recorded by Josephus that even people were thinking about becoming cannibalistic and eating their sons and their daughters and so these exact specific things imagined happened because of the sins of Israel and then for 2,000 years the land lay desolate and in 1800s Mark Twain went and he said this is truly a desolate land it doesn't conjure up the images of that the scripture and in all its grandeur once had and so even Samuel Clemens used these exact same words about the desolation on the land verse 33 when it says that he's going to disperse them amongst the nations which happened and he says your land will become a desolation and your cities a wasteland and that has happened then at last the land will be paid its Sabbath's the shemitah was called a Sabbath it was a Sabbath for the land every seven years so what he's saying is the reason for you being exiled is you didn't give the land your Sabbath you didn't keep your Sabbath's one day out of seven on the seventh day and you didn't allow the land to rest in the seventh year this is why they were allowed to be punished the exact number of years that they kept the land from keeping its rest and didn't keep these Commandments as long as it lies desolate and you're in the land of your enemies the land will rest and be repaid it's Sabbath's yes as long as it lies desolate it will have rest the rest it did not have during your Shabbat swen you live there as for those of you who are left I will fill their hearts with anxiety in the land of their enemies the sound of a driven leaf will frighten them so that they will flee as one flees from the sword and fall when no one is pursuing yes when no one is pursuing they will stumble over each other as if fleeing the sword you'll have no power to stand before your enemies and among the nations you will perish the land of your enemies will devour you those of you who remain will pine away in the lands of your enemies from guilt over your misdeeds and those of your ancestors you know Jeremiah 6 says our forefathers have inherited lies we need to return to the ancient past and this is what's happening as Israel is awakening we are repenting over the misdeeds of our forefathers he says in verse 40 then they will confess their misdeeds and those of their ancestors which they have committed against me and I believe this is what has been happening for the last ten years and I'll show you why in a little bit with this hidden prophecy have you noticed how many people are coming out of the churches and they're repenting for the paganism which has been adopted by the churches and they're returning to Torah this is the children repenting for the sins of the forefathers and for the misdeeds so that through healing and through Torah observance we can be fit to be returned to the land otherwise even if Messiah came and returned the Exile of Israel the land would spew us out again if we were not keeping Torah so this process of repentance has to happen first he says in verse 41 at that time I will be going against them which means the things will still be going wrong for Israel bringing them into the lands of their enemies but if they're uncircumcised hearts will grow humble and they are repaid the punishment for their misdeeds which means they have actually been outside of the land the number of years that are allotted this seven times so it has to only happen after the seven times prophecy and we'll find out exactly what year that ended then he says I will remember my covenant with Jacob also my covenant with yet sac and my covenant with Abraham and I will remember the land this is the whole purpose of Messiah coming back is not just to save his people but to return us to the land of our inheritance for the land will lie abandoned without them and it will be paid it's Sabbath's referring to the shemitah where it's to lie fallow while it lies desolate without them and they will be paid the punishment for their misdeeds because they rejected my rulings and loathed my regulations yet in spite of all that I will not reject them when they are in the land of their enemies God is so merciful he says I will not load them to the point of utterly destroying them and thus break my covenant with them no because I am their God rather for their sakes I will remember the Covenant of their ancestors whom I brought out of the land of Egypt it's like he redeemed a slave girl to be betrothed to his son and he will not forget that he redeemed us from Egypt with the nation's watching he says so what's gonna happen in our day after we repent God's gonna remember the Covenant he had with our forefathers and he says that he will restore us with the nation's watching and this is what's happening right now we're still living in the lands of our dispersion and the enemies are looking at these people coming out of the churches and returning to Torah and repenting for the misdeeds of their forefathers and this is in the sight of the nations and in this way were being a light to the nations by being an example he says he will do this so that he might be their God I am yo hey Bob hey so there's different ways of interpreting the 7 times prophecy because you could look at what is it time there's different ways to look at a time seven times what and there's different ways to look at a calendar is that the Julian calendar is if the Hebrew calendar if we're going to unlock prophecy how can we look at these different things to understand it rightly but what's amazing is they all have relevance God has hidden in this prophecy different aspects of our restoration so that no matter how we interpret it or calculate it mathematically everyone will see a blessing for the house of Israel and in different times in our history as well so we know from Bible prophecy from both Daniel and revelation that a time is equated to a Jewish year a prophetic here is 360 days when you're unlocking prophecy that's one way that we could try to multiply this seven times and see but we have to also have a starting date so there's all these issues of which calendar you use what is a time what is the starting date of these prophecies in Ezekiel if we're talking about the time of our sins then we know that Israel the Northern Kingdom of ten tribes was punished 390 well is Ezekiel was lying on his side 390 days for 390 years that Israel was to be punished initially outside of the land then if they repented they would have come back in but we know through history but they didn't they continued to migrate up north and west through the caucus mountains and into Europe and then further west to the British Isles and then America became a nation and they further found refuge here in this nation and so we have to ask ourselves does both of these times have relevance when unlocking for both houses of Israel and the father just gave me a new download this year I mean just this week for this tour portion in understanding in the context of all of our studies about the two houses of Israel there's something for both houses to know that God has not forgotten them imagine if you saw something in prophecy and you are calculating just like Daniel did at the end of 70 years has God forgotten us is he really going to keep his word that he prophesied through Jeremiah that it's only gonna be seventy years that were in Babylon and seventy years to the day then Cyrus comes and dams up the Euphrates and marches his troops under the walls of Babylon and sets the Jewish people free and makes a decree you can go home you can return to your land the same way when Israel's in the lands of their dispersion over the last 2700 years imagine if Israel says how we forsaken have we been completely divorced from God and are we completely lost and this is one of the reasons why Yeshua came in his first coming was to encourage the lost sheep of Israel that were already scattered all over the earth so just looking at the northern house I'm gonna dissect I was gonna write it on the whiteboard but then I made a slide last night because I thought it'll be less that my back has to be to you and you can see it up here this prophecy is for the northern house of Israel and we know that Assyria began their siege on the tribes that were east of the Jordan River which was Reuben GAD and a half tribe of manasseh in 745 was the first Assyrian siege and the first Exile of Israel and if you took the prophetic Jewish year as a time just like Daniel talks about time times and half a times on the world calendar seven times 360 years is 2500 in 20 years and that amazingly means that Israel would be without a land until this period is over now what's interesting when you're calculating dates from BC to AD there's no 0 BC or no 0 ad so you always have to add a year when you're calculating backwards because there's a missing year and there you've got 1 BC and you've got 1 AD but you don't have a zero point and so some people could be off a year and their calculations if they don't add that back in so I've added that one underneath the 1775 and that brings you to 1776 which is the time when all thirteen tribes found a land that they could call their own and have religious freedom it's all about God restoring a people to the freedom of religion to worship Him and the freedom to rule themselves before this the lost house of Israel was under hard taxation and tyranny in Europe under somebody else's government but God set up a place of refuge just like he prophesied he would you know in Revelation it talks about him hiding the woman in the wilderness for a time and I believe America has been set up for these vinyl generations to preserve a remnant of all the 13 tribes why do I say 13 because Joseph's blessing got passed on to Ephraim and Manasseh Jacob basically adopted Ephraim and Manasseh and the northern house the Northern Kingdom of Israel actually took the name of the firstborn who of the one who got the firstborn blessing which was ephraim so sometimes you will hear the house of israel be referred to as ephraim or ephraim i'ts but it's talking about all ten tribes who was left in the southern kingdom was Judah and Benjamin Levi was mixed between the Northern Kingdom and the southern kingdom so there's the Levites that were dispersed with Israel and there's Levites that went to Babylon with Judah so this is just for your understanding of how people get separated and migrated all over the land so here we see a unique date pop up in referring to the lost house of Israel in preserving them until the final restoration can take place where they are returned to the land this is a land but it's not the land and this land has been set up to be a blessing for the Lost house of Israel now what about the southern house of Judah and what is the starting date for it but we know in jeremiah 29:10 it says when seventy years are completed for babylon i will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place and nebuchadnezzar first began his siege and took Daniel and his friends and mainly the upper middle classes who Nebuchadnezzar took he wanted to learn it he wanted the best to complement his kingdom he left a lot of poor people there in Jerusalem but he took the cream of the crop so to speak this is why it talks about the princes of Jerusalem and Daniel and his three friends being princes that was in 606 BC so 70 years later after that initial 70 year punishment on Judah brings you to the spring of 536 BC now for the purposes of calculating I've put 0.4 on there because what is how do you denote the spring time you know it's like 0.4 of the year into the year so this will help us in our calculations now Judah is the only one that kept the Hebrew calendar alive Israel lost the Torah they lost the Hebrew calendar and so that's why we went ahead and calculated with Julian years those two thousand five hundred and seventy years but when would the Jews regain control of the land because even after seventy years when they went back to Israel were they really in control of their land Babylon had controlled it then Persia controlled it they were just allowing them to live there but it was still under Persian control and in 331 BC who conquered the Persian Empire Alexander the Macedonian and the Jews never call Alexander the Great like the Western world does why because they conquered them so you don't call somebody who conquers you so great he's not so great he took over our nation he's not as good to us as the Persians were the Persians allowed pretty much religious freedom allowed them to rebuild the temple but the Greeks they sought to overcome the Jews through assimilation they intermixed their pagan gods that had been carried down from Babylon through Persia just given different names now the Greeks are forcing these false gods upon the Jews to the point where Antiochus the fourth set up a Statue of Zeus in the temple and sacrificed a pig and this is what desecrated the altar until the Maccabees cleansed in the Maccabean revolt and that's what Hanukah is all about so we really don't see the Jews having the prophecy fulfilled of having their own country back to themselves in 536 BC so if we use that seven times for the Jewish nation now for the southern kingdom we would have to calculate it into a Hebrew calendar so what I've done you'll see in parentheses is I've taken that same two thousand five hundred and twenty years which is seven times 360 and divided it by the prophetic Jewish year three hundred sixty days in a year because Scott always uses a day for a year principal when meeting out prophecy and judgment and that calculates to nine hundred and seven thousand two hundred years the southern house of Judah should be able to reclaim their land but what does this mean on a Gregorian calendar for us so now we've got to divide it by 365 point two five right a regular solar year that we go by to under what does that mean to us starting in 536 in the spring BC and amazingly that brings you to the spring of 1948 when you add in that missing year four zero between BC and AD now what's fascinating is the Jews regained their freedom the freedom was restored and they are given the land that God promised them and that happened on the fifth of Aiyar on the Hebrew calendar but on the Gregorian calendar what date does that equate to May 14th 1948 and when you calculate may like if I had to say what percentage is May of the Year Mays the fifth month you take five and you divide it by twelve and you get 0.4 exactly the timeframe that God said it even happened in the season of the spring exactly 2500 in 20 years so both houses are given a land Judah of course is given the land to prepare because they have preserved the Torah the land is ready to receive them it's not going to spew them out what's happened to the Lost house of Israel we've assimilated into all kinds of different pagan religions and even Christianity Roman Catholicism have adopted so much until we repent of the sins of our forefathers because Israel was a rebellious nation it rebelled against King David's monarchy after Solomon died it rebelled against the Torah is set up false idol worship in Dan in the North threatened the kingdom so we have a lot to repent from for many many years including all of these years that we've innocently been ignorant to the Torah and we've just grown up in different denominations adopting the different religious practices of our parents and our forefathers but God has not forgotten us that's the News Israel is the apple of his eye and it's not just the land it's the people and so he has preserved his people when we weren't ready for the land the land he gave us a land a land that also was blessed very similar to Israel which was flowing with milk and honey we have prospered in America we have been blessed financially and with health and with protection from our enemies it's really amazing how God using the same seven times prophecy can hide a prophecy of encouragement from both the northern house and the southern house but it doesn't end there the good news is we are part of prophecy we are the final generation we've been seeing prophecy take place which is a part of present truth in our day the third prophecy I'd like to reveal is also for the northern house because remember the northern house has to be restored back to the land but before they can be restored back to the land they have to be restored back to Taurus so they know how to live in the land and that's what's happening right here the northern kingdom finally got taken the rest of the tribes we had two and a half on the east side of Jordan and then we had seven and a half on the west side of the Jordan tribes of Israel and they were taken in 721 BC and they migrated north and west through Europe and they lost the memory of who they were they became known as Germans Spanish Irish Great Britain all of these different things by the time we come to America people say Oh where's your family from and we relate to different countries in Europe not realizing which tribe were from but God has not forgotten us when you look at the years of Israel's sin in Ezekiel 44 being 390 even if we calculate it by 390 s it has significance because 7 times 390 is 2730 years and when you calculate that from 721 BC that brings you to 2009 and this is when there's this huge revival of going from a few wanting to learn Torah to millions around the world coming out of the churches and I remember wondering what is happening in 2009 I was a part of a tour teaching ministry on the other side of the mountains and we just all of a sudden saw I go from a small group Bible study to thousands not just in our local area but around the world very exciting to see what was happening in that time Ezekiel 37 says in the last days the dry bones will have to arise and then the second part of the prophecy is the two sticks will come together representing both kingdoms so before the two sticks can be brought together one stick called Israel and the other stick called Judah the Israel has to regain her knowledge of who she is and she has to return to Torah and this is exactly what began to happen in 2009 Israel began to repent and return to Torah and to her true identity and the restoration began and there's a process like all things that what took two thousand seven hundred and thirty years to lose total memory of Torah and our identity doesn't get restored overnight because God never does anything by force it's all free we'll each one of us individually that are here learning tour today are part and parcel of that restoration that returns so that as tour gets written on our heart when Messiah comes we can be found as a bride without spot and blemish and be worthy of being returned to the land without it spewing us out again and that's what's gonna start the Millennial Kingdom so what's happening now since 2009 just in the last ten years in the last decade is preparing for the final generation to receive Messiah Yeshua and is the good news this is very exciting you're not just a random generation you are the final generation you know Hebrews 11 39 and 40 says these are the times that were promised and that our forefathers looked forward to yet did not see but we are privileged to live in so Israel's next prophecy to be fulfilled is that Messiah will come and he will return all the Exile of Israel from all over the world back to the land of Israel and the two sticks will become one once again now looking at how God inspired the Jews to a lot Jeremiah 16 19 through 17 14 for this week's Torah portion and look at how Jeremiah speaks of the punishment of Israel that would happen but he ends just like the Torah portion ended on a positive note that God would not forget his covenant that he had made with our forefathers and that he would restore the children Jeremiah is inspired to prophesy the same way and it's amazing how perfectly they parallel each other so I'll read you a little summation of what we're gonna read about and in the meantime you can be turning in your Bibles to Jeremiah 1619 with me the haftorah parallels this week's Torah reading which details at length the blessings and the cursings if Israel does not keep God's commandments and Jeremiah further discusses the punishment that await those who disregard God's law and the blessings that are the lot of those who follow the creator's wishes the Prophet Jeremiah rebukes the people of Israel for their idolatrous ways and for not having faith in God he conveys God's words revealing the cause and effect towards those who do not put their trust in him for telling their exile as their banishment and the blessings of those who do follow God's ways he says at one point cursed is the man who trusts in man and relies on mortal flesh for his strength and then later he says blessed is the man who trusts in the God to whom God will be his trust for he will be like a tree planted by the waters and his roots will spread out and that's the way Israel which is likened to an olive tree has spread out throughout the nations so it will not be affected when he comes and its leaves will be green and in the year of drought they will not be anxious neither shall it ceased from bearing fruit then the haftorah is going to end with a blessing of hope for Israel and prayer for healing that Jeremiah actually does which is pertinent to us today so let's look at this and read through it because there's a lot of beautiful correlations verse 19 it starts off by saying Adonai my strength my fortress my refuge in time of trouble do you know we are going to be going through a time of trouble very soon Daniel says it's gonna be a time of trouble like it was never before us worse than there has ever been since there was a nation during that time are we gonna be able to stand faithful or are we gonna take the mark of the beast are we gonna be able to say Adonai is my strength and my fortress my refuge even in the midst of the time of trouble it says the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth Sain our ancestors inherited nothing but lies so here's ancient art here's Israel the descendants of Israel it scattered in all these different nations and they're identifying themselves as Christians most likely that's the predominant you know whether you're Catholic or whether you're a Protestant denomination of which there is so many they're identifying with the nations they think I'm American I'm German I'm British I'm this or that so in prophecy how Jeremiah sees this is it's like the the Gentiles are coming but it's really Israel they just don't know who they are and they're coming from the ends of the earth and they're saying our own ancestors have inherited nothing but lies this is actually a reference to Jeremiah 6:16 which I quoted earlier futile false gods we've inherited completely useless can a person make himself gods in fact they're not God's at all Jeremiah says therefore I will make them know once and for all I will make them know my power and my might then so here's another if-then statement they will know that my name is yo'd hey Rob hey then it goes into describing Judas sin in the past Judith's sin is written with an iron pen with diamond point it is engraved on the tablet of their hearts and on the horns of your altar as they remember their children so they remember their alters the Jew is always mourn for the destruction of the temple we always remember our altars but he says they also engaged in setting up these sacred poles to Ostra this we're always on the high heels even Solomon's wives set up these false places just outside of the temple you can look across on the Mount of Olives and see the place where Solomon's wives were allowed to set up these poles and their fertility poles and there used to have all kinds of pagan worship and orgies around them so God is letting Judah know you're not without sin either there's a reason why you were exiled from the land you set up sacred poles by the green trees on the high hills my mountain in the fields so Zion is his mountain where the Temple Mount is your wealth and all your treasures will be plundered because of the sin of your high places so this was Judas sin and David was of the line of Judah and Solomon and we know there was a long line of wicked kings after them that led the people astray through your territory you will relinquish your hold on your heritage anytime it says heritage is talking about Judas inheritance which is living in that land where the Temple Mount is I will make you serve your enemies in a land you do not know for you have kindled my fierce anger and it will burn forever here's what ad and I says there is a curse on a person who trust in humans Wow we have to really think about what this means for us today do we put our trust in God or we do we put it in a human are we praying to God or are we praying to a human that God is using you know there's very serious subtle rebukes to us in this language sometimes we have put other things in the place of God 2nd commandment says don't put anything that's in the heavens above or the earth beneath or in the waters underneath the earth in the place of God who relies on merely human strength whose heart turns away from Adonai he will be like a tamarisk in the Arve when relief comes it is unaffected for it lives in the sun-baked desert in salty uninhabited land but blessed is the man who trusts in yo David hey yo Dave Ave will be his security he will be like a tree planted near water now your English Bibles will say Lord or it might say God in the Hebrew it's spelling out specifically God's name everything else is a title for God like Elohim or else should die but when it says yo Dave Ave there's no doubt about who it's talking about the term Elohim is so analogous or so general that it can be used for angels it can be used for men this is why you should quoted that text from Psalms that says know you not that you are gods you read that in the English and that sounds like wow what is he saying there but he's saying Elohim because we have the Spirit of Elohim in us so we're considered Elohim so Elohim is not unique but when the Bible says yo and hey Bob hey we know it's talking about the one and only true God of Israel who created the heavens and the earth and the sea and this is what makes us unique as as God's people worshiping only one God this is why we say the Shema shema yisrael adonai elohenu adonai echad the Lord our God the Lord is one and so this is what separates us from the pagan nations that we need to get back to he says blessed is the man who trusts in yo Dave of hey yotie evolved he will be his security he will be like a tree planted near water it spreads out its roots by the river it does not notice when he comes and its foliage is luxurious it is not anxious in a year of drought and that's kind of like us when we rely and we trust in the Lord God of Israel we don't become anxious no matter what the situations around us whole there can be ups and there's downs there can be financial prosperity and then there can be a great loss of financial prosperity you can see all kinds of different tribulation or persecution but we don't become anxious because true followers of yah are not focused on the flesh or preserving the flesh we're focused in the spirit and living in the spirit and this is why Yeshua was able to lay down his life were anxious for nothing we totally trust him knowing he'll take care of us it says that we will keep on yielding fruit even in a drought the heart we have to be careful about trusting emotions God made us to balance the intellect of the mind and the consciousness with him with the emotions this creates a perfect balance where we're not let astray but if we are prone to emotional ism like some religious systems they get you know how they beat the drums and the music gets you all emotional and they tell you oh you're full of the spirit now and then you leave and then weird that feeling go we have to be so careful of emotions and the heart even the heart that leads you to do something that might be an opposition to yaws leading Jeremiah warns us the heart is more deceitful than anything else and mortally sick who can fathom it I would have of hey search the heart I test your inner motivations he knows even if we're doing something on the outside what our thoughts are and what our true motivations are in order to give everyone what his actions and conduct deserve now the New Testament puts it slightly differently he says that Messiah comes and his reward is with him to recompense everyone according to his what works not just faith but the Christian world we'll just tell you just have faith don't do the law don't apply it don't live it out but Messiah is coming to rule or reward everyone who puts their faith into action this is why James says faith without works is dead and here Jeremiah puts it another way he says he's going to reward those to give everyone according to their actions and conduct what they deserve so it's gonna be natural cause-and-effect it's not just a belief we don't follow a religion of just believing because what does the scripture say even demons believe so belief is nothing without works somebody who has true Emunah in the Hebrew faith is actually a Munna and it means more faithfulness means you're gonna be loyal to God you're gonna keep his word and you're gonna not wander away over time or through difficulty then you'll be rewarded our reward is in the kingdom to come first 11 says a partridge hatches eggs and did not lay like this are those who get rich unjustly in the prime of life their wealth will desert them and they will prove to be fools and that's like the wicked who you see gaining wealth but not the living gods ways it's going to be lost wealth it's very temporary it's very fleeting and so he likens it to a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay there's no true eternal reward without following God's law of love and then there's this beautiful praise and prayer at the end of Jeremiah's admonition to Israel he says throne of glory exalted from the beginning our holy sanctuary the hope of Israel yo hey Bob hey he's reminding us keep your focus on the one true God all who abandoned you will be ashamed those who leave you will be inscribed in the dust we want to be inscribed in the book of life not the dust they will be inscribed in the dust because they have abandoned you yo hey Rob hey the source of living water heal me out and I and I will be healed and this is our prayer you can say it with me as the final generation and descendants of Israel we are praying for not just a head knowledge of our true identity and not just an intellectual knowledge of Torah but to truly be healed to be restored to have tore written on our hearts so that we can be ready for Messiah and return to the land so let's read verse 14 together in closing heal me Adonai and I will be healed save me and I will be saved for you are my praise amen this is the whole focus of Israel to get back to focusing on God and you have just completed another book of Torah this is viagra and the Hebrew Leviticus so we have a traditional Seine to encourage one another whenever we complete a book we say huzzah huzzah they knit huzzah I say it with me huzzah huzzah are they knit huzzah it means be strong be strong we will be strengthened or be good courage now turn to your neighbor and say it to them huzzah huzzah huzzah congratulations let's stand and close in prayer Abba Father we thank you for showing where our forefathers have gone wrong in the past and we thank you for not forgetting us for giving us prophecies that would encourage your people through the centuries knowing that you were taking care of them until you could restore us back to the land of our inheritance we love you Father and we thank you for taking care of the house of Israel and the house of Judah over these last two thousand seven hundred and thirty years and we thank you for your prophecies and plans to bring us back together as one family again very soon under Messiah and through Messiah so we praise your holy name and we just submit our lives to you this day we read and rededicate ourselves as living sacrifices as vessels for your service may we be totally devoid of self so that you can live in us and through us and shine the light of your amazing love to all who meet us in this way we will fulfill our divine purpose and destiny in being living Torre's and lights to the nation and this is exactly what your son came to show us how to do so we thank you and we praise you and we ask blessings upon everyone that is seeking to return to You Father and repentance and your holy name we pray amen you you
