hi my name is riley cuskey and today I'm out in the foothills of Alberta Canada that lead up to the Rocky Mountains I got no shelter no food and no water so I'm walking along and sure enough find ourselves some black bear tracks and in the opposite direction that I'm going oh that's good so right here is where I'm thinking about making my bed the ground is all dry here and this part is relatively flat so it'll be nice for my back and shoulders to be on [Applause] [Applause] so I'm just gonna run and grab as much wood as I can before it gets really dark and then I'll come back boil up some water and get to drinkin because I'm very thirsty and starting to feel it forget my bed set up before it gets too late so I got two old blankets here sleep on one and sleep under the other pretty basic stuff [Applause] looks like ah two layers of wool underneath me two layers of wool on top oh oh yeah now this fully unpaired I'll see you in the morning good morning was a good sleep time to start the day and start trying to get some food let me go find myself some places to put my snares I made five of those pegs over there they are well let's get the set in some snares that's our setup comes on that hole you got no other options to go through this name I made it back the camp set up all five of those snares well like that we'll check them maybe like once every hour and right now it's starting to look pretty gloomy you might rain again so I might collect some fur boughs that are what while they're still dry for my bed tonight that's a lot bumpier it's gonna be a good sleep just gonna do a quick check in the traps there we go oh yeah he's caught him around the neck perfect perfect catch well that's dinner fit ourselves a ground squirrel so we're gonna be even for sure that's so awesome we got four more traps to check now he's in there perfect killer on the neck I just want to say I don't take any pleasure in killing animals it's not something that I enjoy doing that saw something I take pleasure in doing but I understand that it has to be done I understand that God put these animals here for us to eat so I'm gonna do what it takes to survive so yeah I guess we're gonna head back to camp and get these guys skinned up and we'll start cooking ourselves a squirrel dinner nice small dinner there [Applause] [Applause] so there's one nice set of meaty hind legs just pop them in here you just want to take those first two ribs along with the the front quarters ribcages are cooked up this world has a pretty distinct flavor very tasty these are the back legs they grilled up a lot nicer they have space good color to him they smell delicious so gonna eat them up those back legs are delicious starting to get dark out Suns set by now and will probably be darker 1/2 an hour but I'm just gonna go and get a little bit more firewood for the night and then boil up a couple plots of water and just drink as much as I can and then in the morning I'll boil up the rest of those bones I just have all that stuff sitting on this tray held the leftover bones and meat that I didn't eat earlier and they're just sitting there right now because I need to use my pot to boil water but tonight before I go to bed I'll put them in my pot so that no insects or other animals we get at it I'll probably stored about 50 50 yards or so away from my camp just in case any predators can smell it and I won't have any visitors in my camp yeah that's it for the night for me it's just gonna be sitting by the fire all right I'll see you in the morning I made it through the night it's look really good really good and they woke up twice to throw more wood on and now I'm just getting used to the morning air warming up by the fire going to grab my clot that's over there it has all my squirrel bones and leftover meat in it boil it up and drink it for breakfast I actually had a skunk trying to wander into my camp last night I was sitting here by the fire I just drinking water and I heard something walking towards me so I shoved my headlamp at it and sure enough was a skunk and it's probably about ten yards away or so before I before I talked to it I said what are you doing I think look tup Abby I just turned around and booked it man that would suck getting sprayed by ice to go and pull you're out here alone alright let's boil up some breakfast so let's do that down we were freezing last night just a little puddle here is frozen up and 1:00 a.m. to the creek there's ice along the rocks so you can see what we're blending stuff really fill the water up about halfway so I can try to make a bit of a stronger broth let that boil for a bit with a nice squirrel stew it's pretty good tastes like a weak soup broth just got finished drinking my breakfast it's pretty tasty feel good feel like I have a lot of energy so I'll be ready to spend a couple of hours hiking out of here what I'm gonna do next is just put out my fire scatter the remains of everything take down my shelter scatter it all and then reclaim this this area back to the way it was my first game here all right this is what the camp looks like now there's really no evidence that I was ever here just tracks and some wood shavings but I don't think anyone would ever walk up here and realize that there was a campsite here once all right so that's a wrap for me was a fun trip I wish I could stay longer I gotta get home get ready for work tomorrow I I feel good I feel I still feel full especially after drinking that broth I really helped me out I feel good I feel energized and ready to spend the next two hours hiking out of here so I want to thank you guys for joining me on this trip it was a lot of fun I really enjoyed it and I'll have more coming soon be sure to comment like and subscribe and I'll see you in the next one happy trails
